Try to take over the world |
| 41 weeks 6 days ago | 1. USC - Spoiled children |
1. USC - Spoiled children look pretty legit this year and oregon/Stanford do not 2. Michigan - Homerism with added Senior Denard Robinson making every game on this (tough) schedule winnable 3. WVU - any losses they can have on their schedule will look good, 4. VA Tech, most criminal underrating of a quality football team in all of the rankings. Should breeze through their conference. Will be a top-10 team by november. 5. Boise State - still soft schedule, opening win over an overrated MSU missing every major contributor to its passing attack last year will give them an early bump to their rankings and they won't fall. 6. South Florida - Perenially overrated at midseason and may well win out on voter rankings confusion. Now actually not that bad of a team either. |
| 1 year 7 weeks ago | Alabama Game |
Will decide a lot of the draft future for the M seniors. If Denard torches Alabama, look out. BWC and/or Roh get first-round looks if they muck about in bama's backfield. Big games by any offensive player in that game will draw a ton of eyes, even if its a crazy yardage reciever game off of some oh noes. Omameh and Lewan especially have a great chance to look good here.
If anyone gets drafted in the first round from Michigan though, this is where the conversation about it will begin. |

Florida state is ACC - the Big East conference buyout probably doesn't cover them for losing their agreed out-of-conference game. |

| 1 year 23 weeks ago | CRAIG JAMES KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU |
is such a stupid rumor. There's no way CRAIG JAMES KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU. It's just not possible. He was a bigtime athelete there with a bright future, there's no reason to believe that CRAIG JAMES KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU. Even if CRAIG JAMES KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU, how would he have gotten away with it? It would be pretty big news that CRAIG JAMES KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU if it were true that CRAIG JAMES KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU. I think its only reasonable to assume that the rumor that CRAIG JAMES KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU is bogus and that anyone who believes that CRAIG JAMES KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU is insane. |

So the SEC is just given national chamiponships without actually having to play for them. Wow. |
| 1 year 28 weeks ago | Big Ten sees a loss triangle |
Big Ten sees a loss triangle of Michigan - Nebraska - MSU with an additional Michigan loss. Nationally, they see two loss triangles of Michigan - Notre Dame - MSU and Michigan - Nebraska - MSU. Notably, none of these matchups ended with the road team winning. There are the extra losses as well: Michigan has a close loss at Iowa. Michigan State has a close loss in the title game. I'd say that under these circumstances alone Michigan State does have the slightly better resume when it comes to loss analysis, but this likely evens out when you factor in that their loss to nebraska was a completely noncompetitive one-sided jailsexing At the end of the day, you have three factors playing into this: 1, three-loss voter knee-jerk reaction, (unjustly against sparty) 2. Money factor, Michigan will bring it due to program name + storylines + Denard dilithium (unjustly against sparty) 3. SpartyNoo / Dantonio team in bowl game beatdown factor: Last year both michigan and michigan state played in bowl games that weren't anywhere near competitive. Voters remember this. People write off michigan last year because the improvements from then this year are legion and the team has a completely new identity. Nobody, however, is convinced that Michigan State is a significantly different team than the one that got braincocked by Bama. This is evidenced by how they've lost games this season: 1. Laid a complete egg at notre dame and weren't ever really in it 2. Aforementioned nebraska annhilation 3. Undisciplined play throws away an otherwise dominant chamionship game performance (Pathetic late-game 4th down punt and, seriously, why were you within 10 yards of that punter). As a result, Michigan State's situation, while unfortunate, comes across as easily avoidable with some disciplined football. |
| 1 year 28 weeks ago | Nobody can convince me that a |
Nobody can convince me that a defense that gives up this performance is one of the best in the country: http://espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=313230333 Unless you can point me to a top tier offense on that schedule that I missed. |
| 1 year 29 weeks ago | It's worth mention that |
It's worth mention that there's no way Boise State would be ranked right now if TCU and Georgia weren't ranked in the preseason. I think the preseason ranking carryover bias has helped the SEC image a good deal. You can't look at the top-to-bottom resume this year and tell me that they are a deep football conference. |
| 1 year 30 weeks ago | I'm not sure I agree. I |
I'm not sure I agree. I don't have much faith in Alabama's ability to complete a forward pass against a competent defense and I hear that's important in football. Who have /they/ beaten other than Arkansas and some child molesters? |
| 1 year 30 weeks ago | Honestly this is OK, because |
Honestly this is OK, because they'd have had to beat up on the top teams from the rest of the nation to prove that they did deserve to play each other to decide the national title. Where is Alabama's big win? Shit, get off the ESPN/National circlejerk bandwagon, where the hell is their offense? Their QB? Sure, they have trent richardson, but they can't complete a forward pass against a team that doesn't have its pants around its ankles. I personally think Stanford, Oregon, Oklahoma St, and hell, even Michigan right now would have a good shot at beating Alabama straight-up. Their defense is one of the best in the land, but their offense is not that hard to slow down or stop completely. If we played the quality of game we did against Nebraska we'd probably beat them by two touchdowns. |
| 1 year 30 weeks ago | Stanford beat USC, and USC |
Stanford beat USC, and USC just beat Oregon. They also haven't lost already to LSU. They won't play in the conference title, but then again, neither will Alabama. Alabama doesn't have a string of wins much better than Stanford's, either. I'm willing to bet they'd get graped at Autzen too, most teams that visit that stadium lose, and when you start losing there, you tend to lose badly. Virginia tech, if they win their conference title game, will have beaten the only team they lost to in a neutral-field rematch. They actually won an AQ conference unlike Alabama. No, they aren't as good as Alabama, but they already had their shot at home and as the SEC fans all said in '06, winning your conference is ~important~. Michigan had more marquee wins than Florida by far in '06 but apparently that didn't matter because they didn't win their conference. Houston will be undefeated so serving them up to get raped by LSU will shut up all of the non-AQ believers forever. This is worth it. Same deal with Boise. If you have SEC vs SEC for the national title, the rest of CFB basically shouldn't exist. |
| 1 year 35 weeks ago | Respect |
Ends when you try to break someone's neck at the bottom of the pile. Just Sayin' Be tough in the game - a couple roughing the passer penatlies? Whatever. Late hit out of bounds? Whatever. Those can be mistakes coming from intensity during play so long as its within reason. Punching people? Facemask that's not incidental to a tackle? Hitting defenseless people well after they are outside of the play? That is dirty and does not earn respect no matter the score.

If Ohio State fans cried every week of the year it would never get old. |
| 1 year 37 weeks ago | You don't have to root for anyone |
We are Michigan. We control our own destiny. We have no business losing to michigan state on any given year anyways and don't deserve a big ten title if we do. We don't sit there waiting for someone else to pave the way for us. We don't need things to be easy for us. If we are the leaders and the best, bring on the best of the contenders and we'll put up or shut up. No excuses, we are michigan. Rooting for either of these teams makes me physically ill. If anything, I'm rooting more for Michigan State on this one because their tears are so much sweeter when they lose to us when undefeated, and this way the hometown crowd's tears would be captured on national TV. |

I should have left the doublepost because this game deserves it. |
| 1 year 41 weeks ago | Tuna is the way to go |
I'm assuming you can pre-make some pasta and want something good, tasty, filling, and above all, easy. Get a couple cans of tuna, some mayo, an apple, a small onion, sme celery, and some cooked pasta. Dice the apple. Dice the Celery. Dice the onion. Mix and profit. Add Cheese if you like. You can also eat it with tortilla chips for a bit of a crunch. It might sound strange but its super super delicious and requires no grill. Additionally, other chip dips always work - mixes involving Guac, Refried Beans, Salsa, Cheese, and Sour Cream can never go wrong. If you pre-cook some chicken or ground beef you can add that too. This only requires a can opener, a serving dish, and a bag of chips at the minimum. When in doubt and are cool putting some more prep in, get some thermoses and bring some hot soup or ravioli - some crock-pots actually can keep a good bit warm for a long time even unplugged if you have a really big crew - and move on. I've done crock pots with spaghetti sauce, sweedish meatballs, Beef stew, chili, and pulled pork. Not all is really standard tailgate food, sure, but on those colder days works great if you don't have a car that can bring the grill to the game. Especially with biscuits. If you have your car you can get a plug adapter from radio shack and it will keep your food going all day. This stuff works great even if you have a grill. The proper way I will always maintain to grill at a tailgate is on charcoal, and that can take a bit to heat up, so having the proper supplementary food - especially on a cold day - can make that morning a lot more positive. Cuts down on the gameday workload too, since a lot of that kind of stuff you can prepare overnight. Good luck and enjoy the party - Go Blue / Beat Irish |
