|3 years 49 weeks ago||Thank you!||
For the comedic relief! Much needed!
Don't forget, JC was 192-84-6, won 3 Big Ten Championships, and is probably more willing to redeem himself in The Game, than anyone else. Some of his recruits include: Eddie George, Terry Glenn, Orlando Pace, Alonzo Spellman, and Joey Galloway.
Only problem - he's going to kick the bucket soon. However, we could do the Big House version of Weekend at Bernie's.
BTW, some of the earlier comments in this thread are worth their weight in gold!

If you want to talk Michigan history with people who *know*, do not miss an opportunity to get a cut here.

Real-life Luck Dragons?!?

If getting neg-bombed for sarcasm is par for the course around here these days, I'll have to change my MO.
ALERT: My first post was meant to be sarcastic.
I love how people take a post about how people will take any post on the Interwebz seriously, serious.

Just tweeted that Jon Gruden's Wikipedia page has a whole section devoted to "University of Michigan Speculation" and that he either will or will not come to Michigan.

May be better than Baton Rouge, but I would love to guide an airboat through campus.

Yeah, his demeanor was, well, interesting. I couldn't tell if he wanted to laugh and bust out the GMPH and demean the unknowing minions, or cry and curl up in the corner with his blankey.
Thanks for the thoughts (and level-headed posts).

@iawolve: Your dissection of DB's decision-making vis-a-vis his experience in LBO situations was, IMO, a great assessment.
IIRC, in that synopsis (sorry, I didn't have the time to refer back to it), you mentioned announcing a crucial decision at the right time. Given Brandon's goals as they relate to the athletic program, what are your thoughts about him having a lock on a coach when he made his comments about Harbaugh going to the NFL, et al. at the presser? Was that all window-dressing to hold off criticism while scrambling to come up with Plans D, E and F? Or was it posturing, knowing that having five days to ink a deal and bring in the hire to the UM-KU basketball game would be about the right-est of times to make an announcement?
Maybe you don't have an opinion either way, but knowing Brandon's work with Domino's, his work with the Regents, and his work under Bo, I refuse to believe that he was caught with his pants down on this one.
Guess we'll all know once we see the new hire...
|3 years 49 weeks ago||You probably never heard||
You probably never heard Canham talk about "branding" because AFAIK, the modern concept wasn't even really formalized until well toward the end of his term.
However, every piece of UM gear you own, every game you've had the pleasure of attending with 100,000 of your closest friends, and many other reasons you might have for loving Michigan, are a direct result of Canham's "branding."
Canham only needed to complete one football HC search, and did it spectacularly. Mostly because he found a guy who fit in perfectly with his "brand."
Don't be so quick to write off Brandon as an amateur - he learned from Bo and Don, after all.
|3 years 49 weeks ago||Am I missing something||
Ever heard of a man named Don Canham?
|3 years 49 weeks ago||He might, but he shouldn't have to||
I'm sure DB will keep a close eye on whoever ends up in the HC position. However, I'm also sure he doesn't want to go through this sort of process again anytime soon.
My guess is DB will choose someone who is above reproach and as such, requires very little close supervision.

The prospect of Ty Willingham at OSU gives me some hypothetical good feelings on this crappy day with a cold I contracted from some kid or octogenarian on the flight back from the Sunshine State.
Watching Fuckeye fan jump into the Scioto River en-masse would have allowed me to die happy, no matter what.
|3 years 49 weeks ago||Having BP here...||
...would turn the Wisconsin post-game presser into a DSF (double-skull-fuck) of the Freep.
|3 years 49 weeks ago||I hope||
that the "later half of (this) week" is determined by a week that starts on a Friday.
This thing might reach fusion bomb status if there is no presser before noon tomorrow.
|3 years 49 weeks ago||He might know his shit||
But he still cried with "Cathy" stopped running.
|3 years 49 weeks ago||DB sent me a text last night||
But I deleted it.
Sorry all - I was drunk and didn't have his number stored in my phone. I thought it was an ex trying to make me take a paternity test.
|3 years 49 weeks ago||Hmmm||
Wonder why she didn't make use of the tunnel between home and Fleming.
That has to mean something. Maybe Jimmy, Brady, Jon Gruden, Ty Willingham, and Urban are all holed-up down there waiting for the interviews to start.

for the holidays. Every news interview with a native Floridian during the cold snap was an exercise in hilarity.
All of their cold-weather gear looks like it came straight from a Gerardo video.
For a week there, I was actually glad that I come from Southeast Michigan. 50's and sunny was totally fine with me.
|3 years 49 weeks ago||Well, qualitatively||
I saw zero improvement between the OSU game and the GB.
I know this doesn't address the issue of practice hours, but IMO, quantitative analysis is unneccessary.

between a premium board poster and any other board poster?
I can pay the Freep for a full-page ad detailing the reasons why I feel that DB and MSC didn't do squat. Doesn't mean that I'm somehow more clairvoyant than the dude who reads the funnies or jerks off to the lingerie ads.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||He said all alumni.||
He said all alumni. So, by "we", I meant all alumni, myself included. Doesn't seem that far of a logical leap, but maybe I'm wrong.
And even if all alumni were in favor of something - no matter what - I don't thnk any one of us should deem him or herself worthy of such a pronouncement.
You're right - I should have said "to the world of college football fans who may see the interview, live or once it goes viral - in the world of college football fans." My bad.
Don't worry, I'm not dumping on a former Heisman winner - one who had me on the edge of my seat every time I watched him play. I was trying to echo the sentiments of the OP.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||Even if it were true that||
Even if it were true that *all* of the alumni wanted RR gone, since when did we ask DH to announce our decision to the world?
