He interviewed a B1G bureaucrat -- can't remember if named or unnamed, head of officials, etc., and don't care enough to google it -- who assured him that the calls in the game were 100 percent correct, nothing to see here.

Agreed that the Excalibur incident did Moeller in, but two consecutive 8-4 seasons (each with three Big Ten losses) left him vulnerable to firing for bad behavior. He was definitely on the hot seat before his episode of public intoxication -- not a good idea to give ammunition to those who were looking for an excuse to show him the door.

Our so-called law-talking guy is way too calm about this -- sad!
|2 weeks 3 days ago||I'm calling Delany right now . . .||
Shouldn't be a problem to make this happen, especially considering (i) his reputation for innovation, and (ii) how receptive he is to ideas originating from Michigan folks.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||Is this kinda like . . .||
you mixing up the names of Ace and his older brother Seth?

Thanks for the tip, and count me in as another chortling non-Catholic.
|5 weeks 2 days ago||Good idea!||
How hard would it be to establish a satellite "campus" each spring and then shut it down after spring practice?
[Edit -- looks like I needed to read further down the thread where this exact idea was already posted!]

|7 weeks 2 days ago||That's how I read it too||
Guess that shows how quickly I've tried to purge anything election-related from my brain.

Them's fightin' words . . . right after I finish this frame (and my beer).
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Which team do you follow?||
If by "us" you mean Michigan, then you have an interesting defintion of "often." Michigan is 25-2 against Minnesota dating back to 1987.

There's still time to start a bidding war and wrestle DeBord away from Indiana!
|7 weeks 5 days ago||Gotta agree with MaizeRage on this one||
Despite the undoubtedly impeccable qualifications of "random Forbes guy," I choose to believe the word of Jabrill Peppers himself as to what Jabrill Peppers has decided to do. Instead of the "UPDATE UPDATE" to this post, I think the better course is to take the post down. Whatever the likelihood that Peppers will ultimately decide to go pro, it seems like we can wait for, you know, Peppers to actually make that decision.

not to be superstitious, but maybe hold off on the reading of tea leaves before the next few big announcements?

Fournette is a friend of mine. Senator, er, Najee, you're no Leonard Fournette.
|11 weeks 3 days ago||My favorite comment . . .||
"I question the competition they faced." Yeah, not like that murderer's row of ACC opponents.

it's CMU's official Twitter account. And I mean that (un)literally.
|12 weeks 6 days ago||This was explained in the broadcast . . .||
so apparently you had already started drinking and just didn't know it! The ball hit a Michigan player before rolling a few more yards.
|12 weeks 6 days ago||Seeking preclearance from the Moms||
Proposed thread: Was the ball carried more or less than a yard past the 16 yard line? I thought a fresh new perspective would be nice.
|12 weeks 6 days ago||Based on what I've seen . . .||
pretty sure 20/20 vision is not a prerequisite -- and it might be disqualifying.
|12 weeks 6 days ago||If Harbaugh kept it to freeze the kicker . . .||
then why didn't he use it for that? There was a timeout before the kick, but OSU called it, and Michigan ended regulation with one timeout in its pocket.
|12 weeks 6 days ago||It was 3rd and goal . . .||
and OSU had about 15 yards to go. So no possibility of a first down short of a TD, and they were in an obvious passing situation. No reason not to call the timeout -- wouldn't have given OSU any additional opportunities.
|13 weeks 4 days ago||Brilliant!||
So you're saying Speight only needs to play long enough to complete 8 passes, then we can sit him down to avoid further injury and O'Korn can take it from there? All those analytics and it comes down to this: Speight for 8!
|13 weeks 4 days ago||The best thing about Opponent Watch . . .||
Yes, it's well written. Yes, it's clever. Yes, it's often hilarious. But the best thing about Opponent Watch is that it's posted on Saturday morning right before the game.
It is Saturday morning, right? RIGHT??!?!?!!??
|15 weeks 5 days ago||Harbaugh is unfair!||
Surprised Brian didn't mention this one, since he searches out these folks on Twitter -- the ones who complain that Harbaugh being Harbaugh is unfair by (i) running up the score, (ii) using trick plays after Michigan is in control of the game, (iii) continuing to deploy Peppers on offense, (iv) going for it on 4th down, etc.
|16 weeks 2 days ago||Not worth a separate thread,||
Not worth a separate thread, but former M goalie Al Montoya had a nightmare of a game tonight: 10-0 Blue Jackets over Montreal, and Montoya was left in for all 10. Thanks coach!

Can't he just toss it up and run under it?

Just to push the refs even more into the negative, look at the second play of the first drive after halftime (a WR sweep). Brian says that Lewis "badly overruns the play," but that might be because the lead blocker (#65) grabs the front and back of his jersey and hurls him to the ground as the runner goes by - right in front of a ref, of course. Lewis probably overran the play even without the hold, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't negate the penalty.
