I had no idea that Roger Bannister posted on this blog . . . .

Not only is the student section weaker now that it wraps around the corner, but the northern end of what used to be the student section is now the emptiest/lamest part of the arena. I just "upgraded" this year from the north end zone to the west sideline, and it drives me nuts to see better seats than mine across the way on the east sideline that are either empty or filled with folks who are on the extremely casual/quiet end of the fan spectrum. When they moved the students out of those seats, why didn't they put them up for sale to the season ticket holders?
|1 week 2 days ago||Actually, not "completely factual" . . .||
since the Cotton Bowl is now one of the "big six" bowl games under the new CoFoPo scheme. One of the national semis will be played there next season, and every three years thereafter.

Though they showed some home-team bias, they actually knew the Michigan roster and were genuinely enthusiastic about the high level of play on both sides in Saturday's game. They also benefit, of course, by comparison to the BTN announcers, as well as the Fox Sports Detroit guys other than Ken Daniels.

The crowd is like the team - dull as dirt. It wouldn't take much for Michigan fans to take over the building.

Once you do that enough times, the job is permanently yours. Depending on how much of a control freak you are, that may or may not be a good thing.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||You tell him . . .||
I bet Brian has learned his lesson, and next time he'll put up fliers on campus to organize a letter-writing campaign in which we politely and respectfully suggest that a college student government representative carefully reconsider his idea to replace the Victors with an extremely unique new fight song. As we speak, I'm sending a telegram to Brian echoing your concern.

you could also contact one or more of the Student Assembly representatives directly and urge them to oppose this proposal. The names of those representatives can be found here. One of those names might seem familiar.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Now I understand . . .||
It's the Daily's fault for cyberbullying this student government representative by publishing a story about a proposal he made at a student government meeting in his capacity as a representative of the Michigan student body? The Daily blew his cover as a secret member of an underground organization?

and you'll be treated to a full house of fans -- mostly, anyway, although Yost has been a little iffy in that department lately -- and a view that doesn't require binoculars and an active imagination.

I was going to beg you not to do another preview, but alas I'm too late. And thanks for reminding me of another entry in the pantheon of DB f-ups.

is that some folks love to toss out armies of straw men, ignore obvious factual distinctions between situations, and disregard the track records of the individuals involved in those situations. If anyone is looking for an example of a "concern troll," I think I can show you one.
|3 weeks 22 hours ago||This, and . . .||
on one hand, you've got 17- or 18-year-old kids, and on the other, you've got "responsible" (yeah, I know, but humor me) grown-up (again, I know) coaches who stand to gain substantial sums of money (above and beyond their already large salaries) if they can get away with hoodwinking the kids.

I'm not a journalist, but it appears that rampant speculation is just fine on Twitter -- hey, look no further than the tweet quoted in the OP, which is based on "unconfirmed rumblings." Apparently, when you're writing a "real story" -- whatever that might be in the Internet age -- you need actual sources, but rumors and idle speculation are enough to fire up the Twitter feed. You certainly are quite right to question whether this distinction is justified when more people are getting their "news" from Twitter than from published news reports.

You're willing to accept one obvious point -- that Drayton already knew he was about to take another job -- but not another, equally obvious point -- that Meyer knows when one of his assistants is considering or about to take another job? Care to explain?

|3 weeks 1 day ago||How much medical history are you going to make up?||
I like how the OSU supporters in this thread keep changing their stories about Reeves and his concussions. First we heard about the concussion he suffered in the B1G championship game -- but wait, he managed to play in the national championship game (and a week earlier in the Sugar Bowl against Alabama, by the way), so I guess he got better. But now Meyer says (conveniently) that he's suffering from career-ending concussion issues, after somehow managing to play in both playoff games, and you inform us that he "suffered ANOTHER concussion" in the national championship game. Maybe you'd be so kind as to provide a link for that, because I looked and could find nothing.
Even going back to earlier in the season when Reeves missed some games, Meyer was unwilling to say that he had a concussion:
But now that Meyer's got roster issues, he's suddenly convinced that this kid has career-ending concussion concerns. OK . . . .
|3 weeks 2 days ago||"Kids careers unfortunately ending" . . .||
Except for, you know, the last game of OSU's season, when the kid with the "career ending" series of concusions played and made a tackle. Maybe it's not the concussions that are ending Reeves's career -- at OSU, at least.
