One of my friends plays for the Helsinki Wolverines and I thought it would be cool to share here. There was a good response when I posted about them winning the Finnish Championships last season. They're going into the new season now and preparing to play in the Eurobowl which is a Champions League style competition with the winners of all the European leagues. They have a realistic chance of winning the eurobowl this season |

Thanks! Yes, the standard of ball in Finland is really good and I think the Wolverines QB is an American ex-D2/D3 college star. I actually play with 54 in our University team in England. He will probably be one of the best defensive players in the league in the upcoming season. In the UK we were all really impressed with the funding, attendance, organisation of the whole sport - especially in that video. You can see they have live TV/ camera crew and a screen in the stadium. In our games we are lucky to have 10/20 spectators including family, friends and other teams scouting us. For the National Final last season we had about 200 spectators but a lot of other teams make the trip to support Unviersity Football - and there was no organised camera crew and we were lucky to have a working scoreboard/ sound system! |

I play university football ( the proper kind!) here in the UK and the sport is becoming more and more popular. As a team I think any non-US team would be dominated by a good American HS team. However, there are players here who have the attributes, character, work ethic and grades to play college football. There are 1 or 2 guys who have made practice squads of NFL teams. My program has a good link with Endicot College (D3) and 2 seasons ago, some 12 of their graduating seniors came over for a week. It was a great experience and their standard doesnt seem too far some of our top players. But the players in the UK don't have the top flight coaching (all coaches have other fulltime jobs) that is available in the US and have a much higher ceiling. My teams RB at the moment is one of the best in the league/country and I would say he would be able to compete for some playing time at a non-AQ school. Unfortunately there are not really any opportunities to take the talents from here to the US |

Like you all soda correctly he was the Colorado State QB and broke many records. He was in the NFL for a few years but never got any significant game time. He moved to play with the Leicester Falcons in the UK an I was able to way h him play. He was an absolute beast playing against guys who would struggle to make it against decent high school teams. Btw American football is the fastest growing sport in the UK |

3 gold stars to anyone who knows who Bradlee Van Pelt is. That's without googling him. He now offers expert coverage of the games on Sky Sports in the UK. |

Speaking of flights home I'm sitting at a bar in heathrow terminal 5 waiting to go home. I haven't seen my family since Easter but damn work and weather stopped me from flying earlier in the week. Well hope everyone else has had a great day. Merry Xmas and go blue! |
| 2 years 22 weeks ago | Keep focus |
Congratulations! Like many others here I had the same acceptance a few years ago. As an international student I had an awesome time in Ann Arbor my freshman year but due to a few different factors had to leave the university. For me it was probably the best move and am doing fine now on my way to a top degree at a top university in England and a job sorted at an industry leader for when I graduate in a year and a half (/brag). I still can't help but feel that I missed out at U of M. It was a truly great experience and I hope you take advantage of all it has to offer but keep focus on why you are there - to earn a degree from one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Good luck and Go Blue! |

I've been using the iPhone app extensively. I find myself reading something during the day and then going back to it on my laptop at home just so I can posbang. The app still crashes frequently tho. I've noticed it's usually when you load it up when you don't have a net connection. It also crashes if you lock the phone while it is loading a page. |

I was in A2 only for a year and fell in love with M football. Now 3 years later I'm in England and still bleed maize and blue. I work in Derby for a very very large company and usually the surrounding area is filled with employees of the same company. I was at Pizza Hut yesterday during lunch and saw a guy with Michigan neck strap for his ID card. Gave him a Go Blue and then had a quick chat about the season. You never know where but you'll always bump into a Michigan fan |
| 2 years 25 weeks ago | Across the pond in England |
Across the pond in England here. Just finished a game for my University team which we won 50 odd - 0. Had a solid game. Now off to the pub where the game is shown on ESPN America. All my teammates will be supporting OSU just to piss me off so it will be unbelievable if we can pull this off. Either way I will be getting drunk tonight. Go Blue! |

Yeah this was only a photoshoot/ publicity event. Wasn't even a full sized court. Obviously the more people on court at that high is more risks. I was actually a ballboy (no homo) for 4 years then became in charge of it. As a 16 year old doing kournikova's match was ... Awesome. Also a lot of the Russian/ eastern European qualifiers were amazingly hot |

I helped organise a game of tennis between Federer and Agassi on top of the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. We had many similar concerns but thankfully none of them actually happened
