This is actually a trend of a lot of the players who were offered. Powerhouse high schools, will pay dividends next year.

Yes, but you also need to make sure there is a "clutch" time to worried about. That would be the counter argument.

Osu was the #1 beneficiary of the psu implosion as well, urban poached those recruits heavily.
|2 days 33 min ago||I thought Wheatley was being||
I thought Wheatley was being recruited as a TE based on his time spent with offensive coaches and players on his visit so in that case this wouldn't have any bearing on this decision.

Unfortunately, this is pretty par for the course.

I'm not sure they really end up having that much influence, but who knows with teenagers this may really resonate.

I actually think their points in this case are reasonable, though. He would be more important to us than them, in my opinion.

I feel like if I was getting visited by a coach I would probably wear that teams clothes...wish I could get more excited about that.

Umm I would have rather of have them go to Kentucky...

I don't know how belein found maar Dawkins and spike, who all essentially had no offers and now have them playing together and competing and playing well (2 as freshman) against an actual big10 opponent. Nothing but praise for the players effort, beleins talent identification, and player development. Yes it would have been great to have booker or so, but all coaches miss out on players. I'm

I'm not sure we are clearly the superior choice in either case and I'm pretty biased.

Somewhat related, Steve Lorenz reports on twitter that Iman Marshall's father said he would have no problem letting his son go to michigan after meeting harbaugh today, which is crucial given the role his dad plays in his recruitment (in a positive way)!
|5 days 20 hours ago||I agree with that mostly but||
I agree with that mostly but ucla isn't some totally moribund program, mora has them coming off consecutive 10 win seasons. Different coaches utilize different styles and maybe Clark likes his more. If I were him, I'd pick harbaugh...but I'm biased and for
|5 days 20 hours ago||That's up for debate, but I||
That's up for debate, but I suggest you google uclas campus and the beaches. I've been in Ann Arbor for almost a decade now but have cousins who went to ucla and visited for their graduation and I can honestly say I can't fault students and football players for letting that factor into their decision. I mean just because they are recruits doesn't mean every decision has to be robotic and based only on notions of productivity. I realize most nfl teams are in cold places...but I'm sure that's a bridge he would cross when he gets there. Maybe he feels he is a better fit for for SoCal, the more "chill staff" of mora and that's fine. Harbaugh turned 3 te players into nfl draft picks and none of them had recruiting profiles like Clark, if that and all the other major draws of Michigan football aren't what does it for him then that's fine and harbaugh will be fine and our team will be fine.
|5 days 21 hours ago||They decommitted during a||
They decommitted during a transition time and there was no guarantee we would have gotten harbaugh. While I would like to think that recruits should commit to the school and not the coaches, that's pretty idealistic and not how it works for most of them. Also, Other schools spots were being filled up as well, and it really did require a harbaugh level hire to raise the confidence of recruits in the program. Imagine what this class would have looked like with a Schiano like hire...

How is it a bad thing? I can only think how this development would be a good thing.

Also, I don't recall Mora's team sing their te very much last year or sending many te to the nfl...I think harbaugh oversaw 3 who were drafted in his time at Stanford.

I think, just for curiosity, we could have them as a separate category - perhaps displaying his talent identification/recruiting prowess. I also feel more comfortable with the idea that those players may have had a similar trajectory because the coaches that took over were his assistants and employed the same system.

Pickard and Wheatley are de/te prospects so we could take them both because they are both at positions of need, whereby one of the guys could be a de and the other could be a te. Clark is elite enough of a prospect where we would make room somehow or hold a place for him.

|1 week 2 days ago||If hoke had half the hiring||
If hoke had half the hiring track record or coaching success that harbaugh did, then he probably would have been cut some slack for the hire. At the end of the day, I could care less harbaugh hired his son. People act like they know who te coaches routinely are and that they are at the core of the teams success. I guarantee that the majority of the board (at least not before all the front page posts) couldn't have told you who our previous te coach was and what his qualifications were let alone the te coaches from previous coaches. We have jim freaking harbaugh as our coach, I can assure you our program is not at the mercy of his te coach hire.
|1 week 2 days ago||Woah, you are trying to use||
Woah, you are trying to use logic on this blog...unique and brave soul. Most on here prefer hyperbole and doomsday scenarios. After months of people wanting Harbaugh, I thought the honeymoon period would last longer than a couple weeks...but now focus has shifted to complaining about how we don't have any new commitments and regarding jay harbaughs hire as a te coach. most on here probably couldn't tell you carr or rich rods te coach but I digress.

Jones and gentry seem pretty much done deals. I think we get a cb commit too. My guess is 3 this weekend.

His main offers are michigan, msu, Nebraska, and Louisville. So that's pretty solid I would say.
|1 week 2 days ago||I would argue that the class||
I would argue that the class is not really taking that much time, it has only been 1 week since the dead period ended. I think allowing people at least the time to visit campus once or meet the coaches once is totally fair. I think the class will have 2 or 3 members by this time next week.

Harbaughs tenacity for recruiting is ridiculous; imagine what intensity he is going to bring to the coaching aspect of it.

If we switch to a more dedicated 3-4, he could play that olb role perfectly.

Wouldn't the "recruit who else was recruiting a guy" part of this mean that he was actually recruiting talented people, because he would be recruiting people from staffs like osu and msu etc
