He played football in San Diego around the same time as harbaugh was there and my guess is that even though they didn't play together, they may have common contacts from then that they are both in touch with.

You live under a rock if you don't think Harbaugh's camp doesn't have a clue what the raiders would offer. Legally or illegally per NFL rules, that offer, if it exists, has made its way to Harbaughs agent at the very least. I can't imagine a situation where it has not, and if it hasn't then I don't think the Raiders were serious canidates either from Harbaugh's end or theirs (maybe they didn't want to pay or up or cede GM duties).

My pure speculation based logic as to who is contact is...
He went to school at univ of Sourh Florida, where the current head football coach is willie taggart, who used be an assistant (as rb coach) under harbaugh at Stanford before Leaving for wku head coach and then usf head coach position. Maybe willie is coming back to reunite with harbaugh?

Baby steps...in the current journalism climate actually speaking to the person you are talking about is almost unheard off given the pissing match of "unnamed sources" that happens on twitter...let alone talks of rational behavior and providing context to substantiate comments.

Couldn't this just mean that John is saying that the family is not pressuring him into taking it and that any interest that Jim Harbaugh has in the job is his own, which like duh Harbaugh is a grown man. Also, what else is John really going to say...we are all forcing him to go back and coach his alma mater, but his heart is really with the raiders and that decade long rebuilding project...

I'm sure narduzzi helps their defense's cause but Dantonio captains that ship. Dantonio has a national title as a DC and is a great DB coach in his own right. I think one thing to keep an eye on is Narduzzi poaching positional coaches... never sure how that works when people leave, is there an unwritten rule on who one could take or offer to come with? It would likely have to be a positional coach getting a promotion.

Wait are you really sounding panic alarms after what could still be an 8-8 season in the most competitive division in the NFL with the defending champ Seahawks who are 11-4 and the cardinals who are also 11-4. I suppose the steelers should let go mike Tomlin after his 8-8 years (last 2 years) or the saints should fire Sean Payton after his at best 7-9 season this year. C'mon man, harbaugh won 36 games in 3 years (only 21 were won in the 3 before he got there) and is the first coach to make it to 3 straight NFC championship games to start his career. Don't insult him by insinuating that he career is smoke and mirrors.

A neat thing I noticed about harbaugh is his coaching tree...for only being a NCAA head coach for 7 years he has 3 coaches who were under him who are now head coaches elsewhere. Bodes well for his ability to select staff in my opinion.
|6 days 8 hours ago||The owners and gm are morons||
The owners and gm are morons for firing him. The guy has taken them to 3 straight championship games and one Super Bowl. That is like the steelers firing mike Tomlin because he went 8-8 for the past 2 years before being 10-5 again this year. Add in the fact that the 49ers are with the cardinals and Seahawks and one out of 4 years at around .500 isn't that big of a deal. I don't know who they think they can get that is a better hire.

Couldn't he resign and and then we pay his buyout?
|6 days 8 hours ago||I guess bad news was a little||
I guess bad news was a little bit harsh. Ultimately what it's going to come down to (as has been the case the entire time) is whether harbaugh wants to coach at u of m or not. Him being fired lowers the odds of that slightly in my opinion because it lowers the threshold for nfl teams getting involved because he could be hired without them having to give up assets in a trade. It also allows him to go to team, if he chooses, that maybe the 49ers wouldn't have wanted to trade him too. Regardless, another week of the waiting game and we will all know!
|6 days 9 hours ago||I think this is bad news. It||
I think this is bad news. It gives harbaugh access to any nfl job without being depending on a trade. If I was his agent this is what I would want to give him maximal freedom and to collect the buyout as well. Can't believe how bad the 49ers want to get rid of him. One of my best friends is as die hard of a 49ers fan as there is and he doesn't really get the firing off harbaugh and questions who would be a better hire.

I personally don't think Harbaugh ends up here, but this is not why I feel that way. No team will trade draft picks for him without him signing an extension...and presumably if he wants to coach at michigan he will have that conversation and turn down the extension rendering the trade pretty pointless.

Similar to blueinwisconsin, these older coaches have likely proven their worth and competency. If they would have been crappy coaches, they probably would not be head coaches in prominent programs anymore.

Understandable, he did miss a big chunk of the offseason including not being able to play on the Europe trip due to injury.

To early to say, remember that Wilson missed a lot of the offseason due to injury including the Europe trip. And even if he is unable to contribute heavily this year, I don't have any issue with that. Not every Successful player In collegiate basketball displays their full potential in 3 games and I think expectations of players are steep here relatively to what I think is fair. I think belein has earned our trust with respect to player development.

I realize that bob stitt may be an innovator but I can't help to think that I'm missing some of the hype regarding him. His DIVISION II record is 90-57 and his playoff record is only 1-2, over the last 14 years.

They have actually played better than I expected in this game. I think they are a top 25 team, but taking a step back from last year for sure.

I would imagine if Harbaugh wants another pro job a better one exists than the Raiders for him.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||I'm sure they were stealing||
I'm sure they were stealing the symbols. I watched this last game with someone who used to play on the team and has since graduated, and he could predict certain things (i.e. a specific player would blitz) on multiple occasions based on signals he saw from the Telecast.

This. But, given where he ended up being drafted, I think I would have told him to go pro even without all the NCAA suspension stuff. He is in a great situation at OKC and was taken reasonably high at 21.
|24 weeks 4 days ago||Out of curiousity, how many||
Out of curiousity, how many of the 4s that played in the big ten were 4+ inches taller than him. The twolves list him at 6-7 and 211 (we listed him at 6-6 / 220). Even if that 6-7 is slightly exaggerated, I'm sure other 4s he played against him were similarly over-exaggerated.

I hate duke. A lot. Just pointing out people may have reasons for picking them. We will get ours and we will be good with coach b at the helm.

I know now is the time to get in jabs against duke but they did win a national title in 2010 and an elite 8 after that too I think. I realize that they have dropped a couple first round games is big upsets but just pointing out that it's not like they haven't had any tournament success in recent memory.

To be fair, Colton Christian off the top of my head was a similar pickup and didn't pan out. Not saying that that has any bearing here, but I think it's always good to manage expectations slightly. My expectations are roughly 5 minutes a game of high intensity defense to relieve caris.

What benefit is gained from espn leaking the story? It's not like they are breaking news on a political scandal...they are ruining the kids opportunity to break news on the biggest decision of his life. Espn is a big enough entity where they shouldn't feel they need to get in a pissing match about breaking a draft declaration story. Is there not supposed to be any judgement or discretion involved on their end?
