Making my first post in 2+ years to support this idea. It would be an awesome way to contextualize performances -- (i.e. Gary vs. Brandon Graham, Devin Bush vs. David Harris, Wilton vs. Navarre, etc.)
Any background on what happened with not renewing the PFF subscription? I liked this reference point.
Aside from the Mattison retention, D.J. Durkin, and Tyrone Wheatley, one name that I haven't seen mentioned is Ronald Curry as a possible WR coach candidate.
That's too bad. I liked those a lot last year. Anybody get any footage of the new ones? I looked on the Old Hat Creative/ MGoBlue YouTube pages but it looks like they haven't been posted yet.
I assume he's sending these around trying to get a Russell Wilson 5th year scholarship somewhere? Or would signing on with an NFL/CFL/Arena League team be the play here?
The more data aggregated by KenPom, the more useful it gets.
Tempo free analysis is relatively meaningless without playing conference opponents as statistics usually vary widely from cupcakes early on in the season at home vs. away contests in Bloomington, etc. You'll see that as more B1G contests go on, there will be more value in his method.
I'm just cautious about the hype. The defense was porous when Martin would take breathers and I'm a bit skeptical that a true freshman DT could help to solidify a defense. Come to think of it, when was the last time any true freshman DT had an impact in the Big Ten?
I think top 10-15 would still be overrating us. We're losing our two best players and our schedule is much more difficult. He's a douche, but this isn't anything analogous to something as egregious as the "spread is dead" meme.

Corwin Brown was a great recruiter for Notre Dame in the Chicago area (he went to Julian High School) . Hopefully with him taking at job with the Patriots, M will win more head to head recruiting battles against Notre Dame.
The ability to be critical and reevaluate your thinking is what makes mgoblog so great. This same reevaluation and subsequent improvement has been made with UFR, the weekly recruiting posts, and the (fairly) new site layout which allowed for user-generated diaries from mispogon and the like.
Adams was engaging and extremely intelligent.
My favorite class was American Industries (330). Also had him for European Economy (453) and Government Regulation of Industry (432).
I'd be really happy if Brandon Smith got the start. Me and my buddies played basketball at the CCRB last summer with some of the football guys and by far the most athletic person on the court was B Smith. I think some posters have alluded to this earlier but I think the mental aspects of the game might be what have limited his appearances to special teams because athletically, he's a beast.
Great post. As I was reading this, all I could think of was last year's fandom badge awarded after the Northwestern game.
I don't believe we are fully eligible for the level III badge again as this knife-in-the-fucking-heart game featured a functional Michigan offense (!) However, the onside kick and the subsequent deep ball over Kovacs head definitely merits consideration for the level II variety.
Just remember - although distinctly improbable - a win versus Ohio State could cure all.
Go Blue
Despite higher expectations coming off of the Notre Dame victory it looks like Michigan will probably have a 7-5 season this year. There is no question that despite the horror of last year, this team is much improved.
Ultimately, if Rod & Co. can pull off an upset on November 21st coupled with commitments from some four star recruits in the secondary, I'd be more inclined to give him an 'A' at seasons end. However, if we stumble at all versus lower echelon Big Ten Teams (Illinois and Purdue) and we end the season at 6-6 a 'C-' is probably deserved.
About a year ago during march madness I came across a website that had a time plot of the movement of individual game spreads and I've been looking for it ever since... does anyone know which site I'm talking about?
Re: Donovan
Definitely.
Kovacs didn't make any mistakes, but I felt that GERG gave up the underneath and Donovoan and Boubo stopped playing press to shield Kovacs.. I worry about the implications of this scheme over the long term though.
We are already paper thin in the secondary and throughout much of the fourth quarter it seemed as if we were playing with 10 men on defense. Interested to see how it gets graded in UFR, but I wasn't impressed with Kovacs and a long-term injury to Williams could be pretty disastrous.

I'd recommend you peruse the boglehead forums: http://www.bogleheads.org/forum/index.php
While there is substantially less nefarious eduardo, they seem to be better equipped to handle a question of this importance.

Hey Brandin,
Thanks for taking the time to answer questions.
How did training differ with Coach Barwis vs. Coach Wellman?
Were there any exercises you stopped doing after Coach Wellman started?
Any new exercises you started?
Any nutritionional/diet differences?
Go Blue!
Beilein wasn't kidding about using the paddles. Hopefully, this helps the team adjust to the length they'll see on Saturday.
Not a fan!
Thanks bklein09, picked up a few in Section 36.

...but were the video introductions the same as last year? Or did Old Hat Creative whip up some new ones?

Right, right.. so 'top 3'. Point is, Martin and Molk will not be easily replaced. I'm not optimistic about the defense next year.

I think Brian's going for 'Sexy'.

Best Professor Ever
Definitely Adams - great professor.
No BTN down in Florida... links are much appreciated.
Anybody else notice, "We are a family" playing in the background?

Co-sign on the Fox & Hound. Been there a couple times to watch some games. It's no Brown Jug, but it serves its purpose.
Surprisingly, Cleveland has a pretty good Michigan presence.
Our Space Emperor went to school just outside Cleveland as did one of the best Michigan players of all time, Desmond Howard.
Hopefully we'll be able to get the Glenville pipeline going again..

I too have grown tired of the Jihad.
I just want Michigan to play some football.
Keep up the good work Brian.
