European teams simply have full pro youth academies. You can get schooling, but you don't play soccer at a top youth level for any university. There are a lot of leagues/teams out there, but this is in reference to the major ones.
These kids also can get paid and whatnot.

Sigh I had no idea about how Burns was let go. I owe that man a lot, and it's tough to see how the program has kind of stumbled. I thought Daley was a great hire at the time, but had no idea how Burns was let go. I also think you guys are overselling how poorly Daley has done.
However, it's important to note how fucking insane mens college soccer is. The fact that you only get 9.9 scholarships per team means parody rules way more than other sports. Very few kids get full scholarships. Add in the absolutely fucking stupid substitution rules and you get a crappy ass product. There's going to be a lot of variance.
College soccer is going to fall into even further irrelevancy if things don't change so that they allow for the pseudo-minor leagues that other sports provide. If the NCAA doesn't make moves to allow for more scholarships and not allow re-entry substitutions that allow for higher quailty soccer, the MLS will further develop their youth academies to the point where college soccer is pointless.

This is a silly way of looking at things. If two things, when done correctly, both work but one is much easier to do correctly than the other, the easier one is far superior.

"I find the react posted by thosewhostay7 to be pretty credible; people have been questioning whether I still buy it. I'm not saying it's gospel, but it is a data point, one that agrees with other stuff I've heard: Harbaugh is just now seriously considering his future, Michigan wants this done by January 1st, and that even if an NFL team promises him the moon the fact remains that he has an owner who is likely to meddle"

This sounds good at the surface, but the problem is that it's very difficult to do one scheme well, and nearly impossible to do two. Furthermore, a proper scheme has contingencies for adjustments and is capable of keeping a defense off balance.

I call bullshit. Tressel is still under show cause. He'd face a 5 game suspension and wouldn't be allowed to play in the post season. Nebraska would face penalties for simply hiring him.
If they do hire them, send all the lulz to Nebraska.

Michigan got better every year under richrod.... and was fired. Your laughable excuse of it didn't work at Michigan is just wrong. We didn't work for richrod. The stupid people around the program and in the program actively destroyed him. We are where we are now because of our collective failures, not his.

Wow that table is pretty insane. I'm sure the schedule dictates they can't actually jump up to second without everyone else tying and Maryland losing, but they will have a fighting chance in the tournament to get a NCAA spot.
Winning this game actually has pretty big implications. The tournament is at local sites this year (a change), so being #1-4 gets you a home game. Semi finals go to the highest seed as well, so every spot counts.

Talent doesn't always win out is a super bad response shows a fundamental lack of understanding how probability works. If 10 teams play games that they're 95% to win, one loses about 40 percent of the time. Upsets happen 'all the time' in college football because of the number of games played far more than anything else.
There may be some sort of magic for getting an upset somewhere, but it sure as shit isn't going to have anything to do with press conference statements.

Doing well in calc 3 really hinges on you being able to work in 3D more than anything else. Do that and it's easy. If you can't do that, you're going to have a bad time. IME that's what hung people up in the class.

Doing this at michigan is really really dumb. Do it at a community college and save all the money. No one gives a damn about where you took calc 3 in high school.

That problem isn't really applicable here. A football game can be played in just about any soccer stadium.

Tigers pitchers rankings:
1) Sanchez - Better FIP and xFIP. Would have higher WAR if not for time lost due to injury
2) Scherzer - Pretty damn close to Sanchez, but if you're using wins to measure his season you're doing it wrong. Scherzer is getting a crazy amount of run support, and he's only responsible for a few of those. Would be fine with either of these guys starting game 1.
T3) Verlander/Fister - Unless Verlander has been chillin all year waiting to amp it up in the playoffs, he's obviously a tier below Scherzer and Sanchez, and about even with Fister. Verlander's rate stats (xFIP, FIP, etc) are a bit lower than Fister but Verlander goes deeper into games. Now, maybe the Tigers managment know Verlander has been cruising this year and will amp it up for the playoffs, but he's definitely not a game 1 or 2 starter at this point.

You know what? I'm not really sure. I absolutely hated Ohio state, and we got screwed hard by a bad call in 2007. But the program is so young, and frankly not very good in the beginning, that's its really hard to say.
|2 years 41 weeks ago||This isn't it either, there||
This isn't it either, there are plenty of schools with similar policies. Akron gets a ton of really good players because they get to not only play for a good coach, they get to play for a guy who determines national team appearances.

Northern Ohio isn't that good for soccer actually. Illinois and
The reason Akron is good is that porter is the U-23 men's national team coach. That's a pretty damn good recruiting pitch.

|2 years 41 weeks ago||This game is extremely||
This game is extremely important beyond the B1G championship game. As of Nov 6th, Michigan is 28th in RPI and MSU is 60th. With a win over Wisconsin (82nd) and Northwestern (41st) in the B1G tournament, a loss today would probably keep Michigan's RPI ranking around 28th next week. With 26 teams getting at large bids (22 auto qualify), Michigan should be in regardless, while MSU has to win to have a chance.
A win and an autobid is still extremely important for Michigan, because a win would improve their draw significantly, possibly putting them in a seeded position (with a first round bye) and definitely getting HFA for the first game.
