Don't hockey players remove

Don't hockey players remove their helmets and gloves to intentionally deal blows to heads? Isn't that something that happens every game? And it's not like it's in the run of play.

Not saying he shouldn't be

Not saying he shouldn't be suspended, but didn't this happen in hockey like 15 times in the past 3 days?

Seriously though the NBA is

Seriously though the NBA is for criminals

THUGS! CRIMINALS! ALL NHL

THUGS! CRIMINALS! ALL NHL PLAYERS!!

Not to take anything away

Not to take anything away from this as an admirable action, but why does every single mention of the NBA on this blog have to reference how despicable the league and/or its players are? You don't have to like the league, but those of us who follow it closely know that there's no reason to think most players aren't by and large good people.

1.) Sport Management at

1.) Sport Management at Michigan is essentially a business degree. Almost a third of the people in my classes are pre-law, and plenty go on to work for financial firms that have nothing to do with sports. Not that working in sports is even something to sneeze at.

2.) Sports movement is not a major that is offered... Maybe they meant Movement Science? Most of those kids are pre-med.

Ok this is just inaccurate on

Ok this is just inaccurate on a number of levels. For one, the assertion that players, particularly point guards, in the NBA don't have "developed" games is ridiculous. The NBA is loaded with loaded with point guard talent right now, and to suggest that Chris Paul and Deron Williams aren't "developed" is nonsensical.

For two, I wouldn't even consider Jeremy LIn an "all-around" player. I want to take nothing away from his accomplishments because what he is doing is truly sensational, but dude has flaws. He shot well this past game, but he has a funky shot and it remains to be seen whether or not he can be a consistent jump shooter. He gets most of his points via penetration to his right, and is definitely not ambidextrous yet.

He also very much relies on his size and athleticism. He's not Derrick Rose or Russell Westbrook, but he's also much bouncier than say, Steph Curry and way stronger than a Nash. His 6-3 200 frame allows him to absorb contact in the lane and he has the hangtime and strength to finish tough layups. D-Mo has the size but is not as quick or athletic as Lin (and is even more right-dominated).

In conclusion, Lin is plenty fun to watch, and so far looks to be an excellent player, but he's not really a revelation stylistically, and shouldn't be used to bash the NBA.

Not stupid.

I took a flier on him after his first game and let's just say it has paid off.

With Baits unexpectedly

With Baits unexpectedly closing in addition to the scheduled East Quad closing next year, Northwood I-III will be almost entirely freshman next year.

Based on how Stanford has

Based on how Stanford has looked this season and their schedule, I wouldn't be surprised if they go undefeated and I highly doubt ND beats them.

Well, looks like Pitt and

Well, looks like Pitt and Cuse to ACC are official according to ESPN bottom line, and potentially UConn and Rutgers to follow.

The MLS is certainly growing,

The MLS is certainly growing, largely because they are being smart about where they are expanding (unlike the NHL). Seattle, Philly, and Portland have all been great examples, and I guarantee Montreal will have great attendance when they enter the league next year.

That being said, the gains the league has made is often overstated. The most spacious NBA and NHL arenas only hold at most a little over 20,000, and the majority hold fewer than that. Many MLS teams now have their own stadiums which hold about that, but their attendance numbers are skewed by the Sounders and a little by the Galaxy as well, who play in larger venues (although they are also a little negatively skewed by the Earthquakes, whose stadium only holds 10,000).  Attendance by percentage of capacity still lags behind the NBA and NHL, and I bet there are certain teams in those leagues who could sell out 25,000 most games if they had the opportunity.

Soccer is really only as high as the second most popular sport in Seattle (behind football) and Portland (behind basketball). In most places, it's still lucky to be fourth, if not fifth (I'm not including NASCAR). I think soccer will pass hockey on a national scale within the next thirty years, but the MLS still has a ways to go if it's gonna rival basketball or baseball.

If I had to guess, it would

If I had to guess, it would be because some people enjoy it.

Lions aren't really

Lions aren't really struggling with attendance, #2 in the league in new ticket sales and even last year ended up selling out 7 of 8 home games, hell I think the Monday night is already sold out for this year. Hype was not solely on Leshoure's shoulders.

That being said, I'd rather a bigger back than Hart. I'm ready for Hart to quit pro football to join the Michigan coaching staff so he can take over for Hoke.

The Tigers don't have one

The Tigers don't have one game left against the Red Sox, Yankees, Angels, or Rangers. This schedule should get them to the playoffs regardless. Once the playoffs start, the Tigers are way overmatched anyway.

Maybe if they were in any

Maybe if they were in any other division, but since EVERYONE in the Central has a negative run margin, it's probably not a big deal.

I also follow USF. Grew up 5

You'll be fine, I had similar

You'll be fine, I had similar grades and test scores, coming from out of state and this seemed higher than average. Out-of-state can get really interesting with these weird GPAs. I know in my county in Florida, there is no limit to how high it can go. Our valedictorian graduated with a 6.6 GPA, hard to compare that.

Thank You. The NBA isn't

Thank You. The NBA isn't going anywhere, the sentiment of this board is not the national sentiment. Basketball is still much more popular than hockey nationwide. I don't understand why people on this board feel the need to bash it so often, I was really hoping this thread would be a place where NBA fans reflect on what the lockout would mean. But of course we just get attacks full of negativity and subtle racism, not sure why I should have expected better.

I like the NBA. At times 100%

I like the NBA. At times 100% effort is not given through a long regular season, but in my perception, for the most part to say they are not trying is not accurate. People are entitled to their opinion, but I for one am incredibly saddened by the potential of losing a season when the league had such momentum.

Would have liked to see

Would have liked to see Bunbury instead of Wondo. Nothing against him, he's probably better than Bunbury right now, but I doubt he'll factor into the next world cup, and Bunbury might.

I didn't even realize Robbie Rogers was significant anymore, and dammit I thought we were done with Kljestan.

No Timmy Chandler?! Not gonna lie, I hope someone has to drop out for some reason cus I was really excited about this guy.

I actually grew up in Detroit

I actually grew up in Detroit watching hockey and when I watched regularly, I don't remember ever having a problem seeing the puck, but when I moved to Florida, I stopped watching hockey. I don't mind hockey, but even in HD it's too much work to follow the puck for me. I like basketball more anyway, although I'll take college basketball over the NBA any day of the week. Just my preference. Not everyone, but a lot of people on here are really being dicks about this.

NHL playoffs are probably a

NHL playoffs are probably a better product for all of the reasons stated, but I'm a classic 'the-puck-is-too-small-to-keep-me-interested' guy. I just like basketball way more than hockey.

I think this is as good an estimate as any. I think Morris will get 35 minutes per game in important games, but I expect there will be times we will blow out opponents, so Burke will get more PT. That's where the approximate 30 min/g will come from.

He went too far on the worst case. Seemed like our worst case scenario has way more torture than other schools. Michigan fans have vivid imaginations, I had a small heart attack just seeing some of that written.
