Would be great to get into either of those schools for basketball. I can't recall the last DeMatha or Gonzaga player that went to Michigan for hoops, although I do recall Beilein recruiting more than a handful.
Re: Nimari and recruiting additions, I'd imagine the potential addition of Isaiah Jackson at Alabama (5* PF who has received multiple CB's to Bama) would have a similar effect, no?
Getting a raw, high-ceiling developmental prospect like Mazzccua is great for building depth, when M is lining their pockets with top-level highly recruited guys. Very little risk depth-wise, high payoff if he pans out, low transfer risk, from a highly-recruited school, potential 5-year guy. Great pickup.
Point of clarification: Fader is not a Michigan Medicine grad (though we would love to have him). He graduated from Loyola and did his gen surg residency at St. Joe's, which is a separate program from UM and is renowned for its international medical missionary work.
Let's not forget that bringing in said second OL coach was at the cost of letting your uber-talented WR group with likely 2-3 future NFL players on it wallow with a grad assistant.
With as much talent as we're bringing back at WR next year, I'm absolutely over the moon that we finally have a real coach at the position rather than a GA.
If your starter gets hurt, (or goes pro after, say, a phenomenal RS So year) your backup options then become either a) Joe Milton, who requires a ton of development and won't be ready to play, or b) a true freshman, who also won't be ready to play and ideally would redshirt with this depth chart. Not good. This is why you take another QB in 2018 who is more polished especially when you aren't desperate to use the scholarship to fill in other gaps on the roster.
Excuse me? Exactly how many top-10 teams are in the SEC this year? The "superior SOS" argument is absolutely baseless and outdated. Anybody who glances at the AP poll can debunk that myth.
Michigan -28 is absolutely free money. Rutgers didn't score a single point against OSU's defense, which is not nearly as good as ours (now #1 in the nation per the S+P). They're missing their impact WR, safety and LT. We've scored at least 40 in every game save the one against one of the best defenses in the country.
I wouldn't touch the over/under since this offense is capable of scoring 61 as we saw earlier this year. I would expect the score to be somewhere in the 40's or 50's to 0-7.
I use Bovada but have been looking to switch for this reason. They also don't post the O/U or Moneyline until the night before the game as well, which is incredibly frustrating. I opened a topbet.eu account this season on top of my Bovada account to see how it goes.
This has genuinely been some of the best content I've ever read on this site. I am continuously impressed that a site that provides this much thoughtful, insightful, funny and in-depth content remains a free one. I didn't think it would be possible, but you guys have allowed me to love Michigan athletics even more by providing such amazing analysis and content. So thank you.
Checked out the new Ann Arbor Hopcat last night, had a great time. Crack fries taste just as good as in GR, beer selection (including 30 local beers) is terrific, and several big screen TVs to watch the NBA Dunk Contest.
Just got back from driving my girlfriend to the airport... the highways aren't plowed, conditions aren't great. Drive SLOWLY and safely, friends and Go Blue!
I rarely post on this site, though I've been reading for several years. I'm now posting to say this: leave the kid alone. This is badgering, not reporting.
I imagine Khalid Hill as having a sort of a Dallas Clark-esque role in this offense. Same size (tho Khalid is about 20 lbs lighter at this point), but his pass-catching ability and versatility lends to some pretty creative wrinkles in the passing game. Borges must be thrilled with all the toys he's getting.
Can somebody clear up what the rules are in regard to using former athletes/celebrities to sway uncommitted prospects?
In The Journey a few weeks ago, Victor Oladipo recalls a time when he was being recruited and went to a dinner at the white house for school and was magically seated with Dwayne Wade (coached be Crean at Marquette) and Antwaan Randle-El at a dinner and somehow ended up going to IU. If the ethos of regulations on recruiting is to make the playing field level, this certainly seems to violate that...
You really think Hardaway will stay? I think it would be a luxury to have THJr, Irvin and LeVert splitting minutes at the 3 (Stauskas is a 2, IMO), but I see THJr bolting to the NBA after the season he is poised to have.
Re: Donnal, taking a look at the depth at the 4 (I think Horford exclusively plays the 5 next season, if he can stay healthy, btw) I think a redshirt is likely. It's amazing how we have gone from last year (Smotrycz, then an out of position Morgan or out of position Novak) to the depth we have this year, to where we have the luxury of redshirting a 4 next year. Amazing.
One last thing: really enjoyed the post by Champeen, but it's pathetic that 90% of the responses to this post were about its title. This is why those of us who seek intelligent conversation about Michigan sports M-Go-Elsewhere.
wondering when one of the Cass LB's will be offered... Seeing as though Deon Drake already has an ND offer it's curious why we keep offering out of state LBs. In fact, most of our offers are out of state this early on...
I don't think the coaches will offer both Kizer and Stewart. Kizer has the more impressive offer list (Nebraska, namely), so I think if the coaches really like him they'll offer him sooner rather than later.
IIRC the coaches are waiting on camp to evaluate Day to see if they want to offer him yes? If Fuller and McQuay go elsewhere (M not entirely out of the picture on either yet), he may be a very suitable contigency plan if he doesn't got tOSU.

I would love to see how many people get HTTV in my area, so I know the smart fans to watch football games with. Pittsburgh, PA anybody?
The NCAA could eliminate PAC-12 basketball from competing in the postseason and I'm sure nobody would notice.

Jack Black and Kyle Gass of the greatest and best band in the world.
Also to keep in mind: a "second TE" is basically a "third TE" if you believe that Hayes is a potential inline TE candidate.
Even with your presumed stud coming in in 2019, your QB depth chart in 2019 would look like the following:
Peters (RS Jr)
McCaffrey (RS So)
Milton (R Fr)
2019 Stud QB (Fr)
If your starter gets hurt, (or goes pro after, say, a phenomenal RS So year) your backup options then become either a) Joe Milton, who requires a ton of development and won't be ready to play, or b) a true freshman, who also won't be ready to play and ideally would redshirt with this depth chart. Any additional insight after your diary post (here) as to who might be on the short list?

Anybody have a link to a torrent of this game for those of us without AXS TV? MGoVideo only has highlights.

To have a guy with Mattison's chops on staff NOT as the DC is, like, wow. Would be a major win.
I've heard this rumor from a few of the major sites... Where is this coming from? Anybody have anything to substantiate this?
I love all the props thrown Freddy's way. The kid sounds like he's got a great reputation as a hard-worker who loves football.
