Look what Cam Cameron is making at LSU and tell me DB would ever pony up that kind of money for an assistant coach. The only reason we got Mattison was because he wanted to be close to his daughter and granddaughter.

Mike Stoops is the DC at Oklahoma. Unless he leaves for a head coaching job, Montgomery has no chance of moving up. Also, this leaves us with Fred Jackson as the only non-white coach on the team. Not good...

All that B1G expansion/TV money and we can't afford to keep our D-Line coach? It seems like Brian was right. DB will use the extra cash for useless non-revenue sports and building an indoor rowing facility.

I think he's a great coach but at some point I see him going back to the NHL.
I wonder if Red would have retired on top if we had won the national title in 2011. At that time, Mel was mentioned as Red's successor.

Not sure how he ended up at Western. Good for them, I hope they make a run at the national title.
|3 years 22 weeks ago||They won't suffer||
A lot of money will be spent on the "non-revenue sports" in the next decade.
What I was trying to say is, if we let Montgomery leave because we refuse to pay him what OU is offering than the blame should fall on DB. In order to be an elite football program, we can't go back and pay the assistant coaches like we did during the Carr/RR era.
|3 years 22 weeks ago||Make no mistake, losing||
Make no mistake, losing Montgomery would be a huge blow to our efforts on the recrutiing trail. He is quite possibly the single most effective recruiter on our coaching staff. We're about to find out just how important winning and remaining competitive with the rest of the top tier programs in college football is to Dave Brandon. Whatever salary that Montgomery is offered must be matched. We spend far too much on non revenue sports (indoor rowing facility) to not be willing to pay to keep our best football coaches.

I'll inform our friends at BurntOrangeNation, Shaggybevo and Orangebloods.

If we go to 20 teams look for FSU to be in the mix. Delany wants: NC, FSU, Virginia and Georgia Tech. NC and the state's TV sets are the main prize.

Brian should put it on the front page.
Also, lets hope Sparty and Buckeye fans don't start voting in mass for Lacy or whoever ends up being Denard's main competitor.

|3 years 23 weeks ago||By voting for Bama||
I saw a topic on one of the OSU message boards that told them to vote for Bama so that Denard doesn't win. It's basically down to Michigan/Denard vs Alabama/Lacy and at one point we had the lead. Lets face it, if it was just Michigan vs Bama fans it would be no contest. Just look at how many "likes" we have on our football facebook page compared to them.
|3 years 23 weeks ago||Don't forget to vote...||
We are down by a lot. Seems like all the SEC fans and our rivals are all voting against us. Someone should contact the Alumni Association and have them send it out by email. It worked with the BTN bobblehead contest.

My favorite football player growing up along with my current favorite.

I feel good only about our chances with Peppers. McDowell visiting Ohio next weekend worries me.
Hand, McDowell and Mone are all SEC-caliber defensive lineman and if we want to compete with the big boys, we have to land them.
|3 years 23 weeks ago||He better start talking with||
He better start talking with Malik McDowell. Per Allen Trieu, McDowell is a Notre Dame lean and visiting Ohio next weekend. If we lose 3 of the top 5 in-state recruits to Ohio and ND, it will look bad for us. You would think guys like Marshall and McDowell would love to play for Hoke and Mattison, two coaches who specialize on the d-line.

Update on Drake Harris
Good to see Speight talking to him...

He makes a trip to California once a month to work with Steve Clarkson. The guy has worked with QB's like: Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow. He also mentioned that Clarkson has a very close relationship with Borges.
