You don't have game undies?

You don't have game undies?

Da'Shawn Hand

Didn't Da'shawn troll us with red herrings up until the announcement? (Or was it us looking too much into insignificant details to convince ourselves he was going blue)

On a brighter note...

The Bucknuts are front page news on the interwebs for their stellar Defense today,

This little diddy of OSU's stellar defense today made Reddit's front page.

CAN"T FIG OUT

CAN"T FIG OUT EMBED!

To the good times!

I'm just as in the dark as everyone as to what is going to happen at the event.  But the negging about who is attending is pompous... and rather classist at this point.

Younger generations will take their selfie with any recognizable celebrity and be quite proud about it.

My guess: When the hashtag M logo goes out with those selfies....it's going to be something that  catches gravity real quick. (I've yet to do the research, but Derek Holland being there won't be a coincedence. See Texas recruits for 2017).

As for Rick Flair... I can't wait for Harbaugh doing that selfie.

I just spit out my drink.

Thanks.

False Binary

I absolutely disagree with the either/or. If by aggressive you mean telling a kid that he has a scholariship here, and then 10 months later not acknowledging him, then sure, I guess that's aggressive. But I'm sure we can gather fifty other adjectives to define that behavior before we get to aggressive.

I understand that some of the competitve teams in the NCAA practice this, but it doesn't make it right, nor necessary to be a good team. I'm just hoping the scholy offers were more of a jumping the gun to get some recruits over getting no recruits before the 2015 season. If so, I regret it, but at least understand. Just hope it's not a practice for the future.

Past Brian Cook vs. Present Brian Cook (Give us an excuse)

Back in the day, Brian had a damn good polemic against over-signing (and grey-shirting). I still hold onto those posts as canon.

I just wish our mgoPatriarch could give us some kind of explanation as to why this class isn't as Darwinian as it seems.

Post Hoc Fallacy Phallus

Rich Rod was here. Brady Hoke was Here. Jim Harbaugh is here. You are here. Therefore whatever you say is already pre-empted within the realm of Harbaugh logic which has been previously unknown to humanity

(analytical logic is bullshit)

After careful review...

you are wrong. Al Kaline got his 2000th hit in 1966. He was 31 years old. I can't fathom someone having 2,000 hits by 25 unless they're in the majors at the age of 16.

Al Kaline was 25 when he got his 1,000th hit in 59 however.

Here's to now

Is this what you saw?

Regarding the vulgarity above...

Not only did you not have a hype video, nor did you suggest us to see another institutions' hype video. Rather you came on here, and created a post of the utmost indecency insulting the hard work of other fine citizens of this blog who actually contribute content (i.e. Hype videos).

But that is not all... you proceeded to make a suggestion by way of lyrics. Lyrics man! Damn it. That's all you had to show, lyrics.

I won't even go into the obscene profanity of a band that you offered up, which was perhaps the most foul thing you did amongst this sacrilege of a post.

I will leave you now with a revised quote:

""A firm rule must be imposed upon our blog and people like you before it destroys itself. The blog needs some censorship and geometry, some taste and decency. I suspect that we are teetering on the edge of the abyss.”

Joe Schad makes me happy.

"listening to the NCAA, they gave credit to LSU's compliance compartment for not allowing a player to play who would have been ineligible and who might have even ended up costing LSU games... and that was the key in limiting the penalties."

                     -Joe Schaad.

That's worth a party.

agreed

When I saw it in real time, it definitely appeared to be more of the guy making a face than an actual abnormality. I remember thinking I hope to God someone else saw it and posts it on here, because I do not have a dvr.

in a cold sweat....

You know those moments as a kid when you are at some kind of public gathering, and like a carnival or a 4th if July celebration at a park, and there is that one overly obnoxious drunk dude saying all kinds of crude vulgarities walking around?

Your parents either have you walk really fast past the man-spectacle or close your ears or something as if to shield you from allowing this dark scene from becoming a part of your worldview? But you can't help but stare, because this is reality in front of you? Pehaps that man is even an uncle who you really looked up to. That's how i feel right now. I tried ignoring the omens of what Michigan football is and what reality is. I even yelled blatantly at my friend who said RichRod deserved to be fired because of his insistence of the 3-3-5. Telling myself, things are looking up and Denard is the symbol of hope for a better tomorrow manifested in human form. Well now it just comes crashing down. Tay Odoms even has a broken foot. Hope is hopeless. All you can do is try making facebook statuses as therapy. It's not Denard's fault though. He is human. So is your drunk uncle. It was your fault for believing a smiling sophomore could carry the expectations from an entire fan base on his shoulders.

So what do you do? What can you do? Just type "Go Blue" and find the next thing in the near-distance future to hang your hope one...Michigan against Iowa

I honestly think it's the essay...

I was shocked when I got in (got in 2004). I literally had just put the stamp on my application to little brother's house after going 2 months without hearing anything from U of M (my dream school as well). My GPA was median at the time (3.75) and my ACT was median as well (27). Being white and middle class and a devout Christian (which all of my charity work was under such an influence) kind of made me expect the worst.

And looking back at it, there was nothing to make me stand out except I busted my butt on the essay. Revised unnecessary sentences. Made it exciting. Part of it was acknowledging my lack of exposure to diversity ( I am assuming we have similar essay requests) so I think that kind of self-deprecation helped. But Primarily my goal in my essay was not to be boring and use humor. I didn't care if it they ended up laughing at my essay and rejecting it. I knew that making my essay uniform and ordinary would get me rejected as it was. So i had to go on a limb and be risky with my essay and allow my personality to come out. Maybe I am overestimating my essay's value in getting me in, but from what I can tell there were many others i came across who got higher GPA's and slightly higher ACT scores and didn't get in. The only thing i can think is my essay won out.

Speaking of Grant...You need to see this

I've been wanting to post this as it's own post, but don't have enough points....but it's one of the funniest things I've seen on the internet in recent months.

This link here talks about what appears to be Doran's mom writing him a letter on his recruiting profile on cleveland.com. Awkward? And then to top it off she writes a letter to then recruit Christian Bryant on his own profile?

The actual page where these comments appear from "tonyagrant" are here (Doran) and here (Christian).

is that what we're becoming

O god, i hope you are wrong. Are we just becoming that movie franchise that you see the sixth installment of it at the video store, and go "they're already on number 6?" I don't even remember them making a number 4. And it's because 4, 5, and 6 all went straight to video with all B-actors.

Is that what Michigan is becoming? As our kids grow up, it is just a novelty video rental, but in our minds, we tell ourselves, "I remember when Michigan mattered."

i can't help feeling like this is becoming a horror movie...

I feel like this is directly out of Halloween, the movie, where no matter where you run or what you climb, Michael Myers will find you and kill you in his slow, methodical style. I can't help but feel like I've ran for 5 games now in denial about Michigan's defense and how the Offense will get us by.

Last week was that scene where the killer was seen chasing behind us down the street and we are running away, and we trip....and scrape our knee bad....and you say "Get up Get up" as the killer gets closer and closer....and just as when we are within arms reach from the killer, Denard Robinson throws a bomb to Junior hemingway and we run into the nearest empty house.

But I fear that the State Game will be right when the killer grabs our ankles as we're climbing up the stairs away from him... The question is, are we going to be quick enough to kick the killer in his face to give us another week of breathing room, or do we just give up now?

Or i think poignantly I'm trying to figure out if we are the main character, hero who will live (after all the cameras are on us), or if we're just the annoying best friend who gets killed a few minutes before the cops arrived.

On the philosophy of it all..

As a person fascinated with philosophy, I was not worried so much about the precise details (which have been fascinatingly discussed here), but rather was trying to discern a broader understanding to the film.

And ultimately, I couldn't help but think the issue of the dreams was about faith. The whole hubbub about each level of the dream was trying to discern what was a dream and what was "reality." The entire conflict of the film centers on trying to input a false belief within the dream of another (Fischer) so as the false belief being perceived as a reality from Fischer himself.

The last conversation between Mal and Cobb was that of Cobb trying to perceive whether or not Mal (who took a leap of faith in her suicide) was real in her leap or was a figment of Cobb's imagination who even in his imagination had still perceived Mal as flawed and imperfect.

This all added to the significance of the last scene wherein we are trying to see if Cobb's world was real or not in the spinning of the top. My own interpretation was that Cobb's world was real, but yet the top was still spinning as to signify that we cannot even be sure that our own perceived reality is the true reality by which we perceive or if it was a simple construction from a dream. This dilemma is ancient, and also unanswerable.

I'm probably wrong, but the movie got me thinking which is a rarity in movies these days.
