As of last week, Denard was leading the ENTIRE NATION in rushing. That's not good enough for you to be considered great? No quarterback in history has ever led the nation in rushing this far into the season.
If he loses the lead this week, the driving rainstorm can be seen as the reason.
Without Denard, Michigan has two wins this season, max.
They leave out ANYTHING that doesn't support their argument. There is just too much one sided drivil. Like a driving rainstorm when mentioning the fumbles and interceptions! For crying out loud.

Over and over again he ran INTO the pile of blockers instead of running to the hole. Michigan might have won this game except for the wide open holes all because the mystery man wanted to play doggie pile.

I don't like OSU because of Woody. And the arrogance. Loved it when Florida whupped 'em for the national championship a couple years back. (I'm in Florida now.)
Anyway, I'm routing for the Wolverines this year. Love Denard. He's a once in a lifetime player. Plus he's humble and prays each time he scores!

Denard takes a couple steps up as if he was going to run. It pulls the right safety up two steps leaving Roundtree wide open. It's the play where Roundtree gets down to about the 2 yard line.
Denard did the same thing in a previous game with the same effect.
That's where Denard is the most deadly. The safety has to play the run when he makes that move, otherwise Denard has a wide open field. We know what happens when he has an open field. His 73 yard TD run left the other safety eating grass.
Let me add something I've noticed on the long runs Michigan has made. Quite often there is tremendous blocking downfield.
The long TD by Denard against BG might be illustrative. You'll see four would-be blockers - including two linemen! - running as fast as they can to run interference 40 yards downfield. There are two others downfield, including #79 (!!) bumping a defensive back just enough to prevent him from making a tackle.
It is a truly extraordinary effort made by several players which results in six more points.
There have been other runs like that. When Denard busted loose against ND, he didn't have a caravan, but he had some amazing blocking, both by the OL and by the WR's.
Those amzing efforts remind me of the Superbowl 100-yard interception return by the Steelers a few years ago. About five or six Steelers were either throwing blocks on the return or getting in the way of tacklers. As I recall, a couple Steelers accompanied the TD maker into the endzone!
That kind of repeat performance happens because of exceptional coaching. It's what helps to make champions, too. It also means no matter how bad the MI defense might be this year, the offense has the potential to keep each game exciting and perhaps even winnable, barring a rash of interceptions and fumbles.
The coach might have asked him how he was feeling. Fitz said, "I feel real good, coach." So coach said, "Go in on the next series." He said, "Yes, sir!"
Denard put up over 500 yards during a nationally televised game. That put him in the driver's seat for the finale, especially if the OH/MI game is also nationally televised.
If OSU wins and Pryor puts up decent numbers, then he'll probably get it, not because he's deserves it, but because that's the way it seems to go. If Denard puts on a show but doesn't get the Heisman due to a loss, the discussion will be how he was robbed.
In either case, Denard gets the win in the fans' minds.
Strictly from the stats, since I didn't see the game, it looks like UMass keyed on Denard 'holding' him to just over 100 yards running. The result was a high rushing average for the running backs.
With the sucky suck suck defense, the strategy for this year could be to keep the offense on the field as long as possible, or to score quickly.
Oh, and keep the kickers off the field, too.
It doesn't look like Blue is going to blow anyone out. Every game could be a nail biter.
I'm new to the Wolverine fan club. Don't like their helmets, but Denard is the most electrifying player I've seen in a long time, maybe ever.
But that's neither here nor there.
Thanks to the generous videos of Denard at the final spring practice, etc., I've been awed by how Denard has turned the position of outside linebacker into the new position called a "Useless piece of meat."
In the spring training video there are a couple of plays that help to illustrate what I'm trying to say. He rolls out to his right and the linebacker tries to contain him. DRob, cuts up the middle inside the linebacker who barely lays a hand on him if that much.
Shortly after that, it's the same roll out to the right. This time DRob looks like he's running inside only to shoot outside. Once again, the linebacker is left grabbing at the air.
DRob did it to a Notre Dame linebacker, too, for about a 30 yard gain running outside him, leaving the linebacker utterly hopeless. When Denard is faced with a one on one isolation, the defender usually appears to be in deep trouble.
Is there any way to defend against him?
The only thought that comes to mind would be to ignore any handoffs, always playing him rather than the running back, thereby taking a chance that the running back will have to beat the opponent.
Not sure it would work, however. The 87-yarder had no fake component to it. ND knew he was going right once he took off, but they still couldn't stop him.
