Rough, rough game to open the season with and work out the kinks on the fly. Second half adjustments looked good, so hopefully they figure things out over the next couple of weeks.
|21 hours 16 min ago||Not just any missed pass though||
They weren't just simple missed passes though. There were three plays where the WR was a good 2-5yds open with no one in front of him and Rudock missed by a good 5 yards on the pass. If he hits on any of those its a TD and a much, much different game. So on that part, yeah missing out on three easy TDs is a bigger deal to me than a simple drive ender. The pick 6 was just bad. No debate on that one.
The worst part to me is going forward. Utah laid out a pretty good plan for shutting down the offense. Load the box and dare Michigan to throw deep. For an offense that didn't show an ability to run, that's bad news.
Although I will say, I'm not all gloom and doom here. The gameplan was good, the play calls were good, the team just didn't execute them. And it felt like a different kind of non execution than in Hoke's system. You could see what they were trying to do, and that they have the makings of a good offense, its just not there yet. So I'm equal parts optimistic they can figure it out, and equal parts "well shit, we just don't have the pieces this year."

Morris' Kansas St game wasn't a whole lot different than Rudock's game against Utah. Lots and lots of short passes. And yeah, he makes some bad decisions from time to time, but he has shown an ability to throw deep. And in the end, if Rudock can't throw deep, that may be more beneficial to the offense.

I'm far less worried about the picks than I am about missing wide open WRs deep for TDs. Those killed us way more than the INTs. If he and the offense can't hit those passes, they are screwed. The OL and RBs will see 8-9 guys in the box and wish us luck on the deep ball.
|1 day 9 hours ago||Widely overthrew 3 sure fire||
Widely overthrew 3 sure fire TDs would have been a touch more accurate. And it was windy but you've got to be able to hit on those if the running game is ever going to get going. Otherwise teams will pack the box and wish us luck.

My first game was really the 1997 Colorado game, but the one I remember most as being my first game was the 1997 Notre Dame game. Sat near the top of the stadium behind a group of fans drinking Goldschlager all game. One of the guys kept harassing a blonde Notre Dame fan a couple of rows ahead of him calling him "Goldilocks" amongst many other insults. Was funny as hell.
Same guy -- after several in-game swigs from the Goldschlager -- starting yelling "WAIT TILL THE FOURTH QUARTER! THE FOURTH QUARTER IS MINE BABY!!!" shortly after halftime. They were fun drunks, so everyone around kept waiting to see what happened in the fourth quarter.
Well, as the seconds of the third quarter started ticking down, he just started going WOOOO FOURTH QUARTER!! WOOO!!!! And then, once it was officially the 4th quarter, dude just dropped his pants, completely bare assed and yelled FOURTH QUARTER BABY!!!
Security did not like this, and started to head for the guy, but he pulled up his pants, took off into the crowd, and pulled on a flannel shirt (it was the 90's...grunge baby) he got from some random fan. Now, in a new disguise, he kept weaving through the crowd and different sections, and after 5-10min of this, security gave up looking, he found his way back to his friends, and received a hero's welcome.
After all, you don't mess with Captain Goldschlager in the fourth quarter. And I'd like to think part of the national title that season belongs to him.

I mean, I love it, but it really is kind of insane how much national attention he is getting.

Maybe the Chargers offensive linemen should spend less time making shit up and spend more time blocking for their QB. They got completely owned on that play.

I've watched that video multiple times and have no idea where people are getting the attack part from. All I see is Rivers grabbing Frank's jersey and not letting him get off him.

Magnus? Is that you?
|1 week 4 days ago||Exactly||
Coming back to this thread late, but yes, that was my point. I was focusing more on the quote about Carr in the ESPN exerpt (he supported hiring Hoke instead of Harbaugh) and how that's been indicitive of him generally not helping the department out at all after his coaching career.
Also, people may be looking back on Carr's coaching career with rosy glasses. He was a great coach early on his time, but by the end, he was entering Mack Brown territory where people were wondering how much longer he was going to coach and how do you delicately part ways with a former great coach. To me, after the 1997 season he consistently underachived while he was at Michigan.

|1 week 4 days ago||Brandon and Carr||
For as much as we shit on Dave Brandon for all the program's ails, Lloyd Carr deserves a huge share of that too. His recruiting classes at the end of his tenure were garbage, his coaching tree was inept, he nuked Rich Rod's time here which set the program back, and according to this excerpt he supported Hoke over Harbaugh back in 2011. Ass. Hole.

He's already an FSU silent commit. Not much suspense here unless we've hired some fantastic bagmen recently.

Man, kudos to the medical staff for remaining the only adults in the room during that entire ordeal. Impressive amount of professionalism on their part to stick to their guns and beliefs despite the AD shitting all over them.

That's a solid looking uniform. I just don't get those backgrounds that Adidas has been using on these uniform previews. Its straight visual rape, and no matter how good the uniform looks, its really hard to get past the awfulness of these backgrounds.

Technically, they could, but I really doubt it. The Big Ten isn't strong enough as a whole to prop up an 11-1 MSU team into the playoff. In that scenario, MSU's only quality win would be over Oregon, and that's not a strong enough resume to make the committee exclude champs from two other conferences.

Not exactly breaking news, but Ohio State is going to be really good. Just an insanely deep and talented team. They may approach 2001 Miami levels.

Plus, seeing all of the other updates and news on teams across college football has me jonesing even more for info.
Its like everyday is Halloween, the neighborhood kids are getting fat on candy, and your mom keeps telling you its October 29th.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Gives you a good sense||
This gives you a good sense of the level of command and respect of the people around them between Harbaugh and Hoke too. With Hoke, we still got tons of leaks and almost daily recaps from people on what was happening at practice. With Harbaugh, they've been underground for 10 days or so, and all that has leaked is some major injury news which is damn near impossible to keep under wraps.
As a fan that is craving any sort of info, its frustrating, but damn impressive. Especially in this day and age of social media.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Both?||
I would like both. Although at this point I'd take a daily instagram practice recap in the form of Harbaugh giving a thumbs up, or a thumbs down.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Not too surprising||
All they really did was decide they didn't have jurisdiction over the case, which when you look at the structure of the NCAA and all of the affiliate schools, isn't too surprising.
They didn't rule on whether or not student athletes are employees, they just declined to rule on anything at all.
