I know people like to bitch about the SEC but....the fact of the matter is that its just a deeper conference. There are just more cupcakes in the middle and bottom of the Big Ten than there are in the SEC. I'd be a whole hell of a lot more wary to face an Arkansas, Auburn, Texas A&M, or Miss St. than I would Illinois, Indiana, Purdue or Penn State.
Plus their tier B teams of Florida, Georiga, Tennessee, and Ole Miss are a whole hell of a lot better than the Big Ten's (MSU, Wisconsin, Nebraska...Northwestern?)
So the fact that they give Michigan 9.2 wins in the Big Ten, and 7.5 in the SEC...yeah. I could see that. Especially when you consider how easy Michigan's schedule is this year and that in this proposed swap they'd be swapping out super cupcakes for a handful of top 40 teams.

That's not really the point they are making.
If it was an NCAA-style 64 team playoff, then sure. You'd be able to see which conference was really the best. But since the playoff only pits the 4 best, you can't even settle the argument of which conference champs are the best.
The point of the article is basically just looking at which conference is deepest and the SEC just has fewer dog shit teams in it than the Big Ten. Michigan would still be a great team in the SEC, but they'd just have to face harder teams than they do now, so they'd be more likely to pick up an extra loss (or a loss and a half according to the article).

Not great, not bad either. Freshmen gonna freshmen. If there's still no positive news in six months, maybe we worry then.

Gonna guess you probably wouldn't believe him even if he did cite someone. If you want citations, read a scientific journal. Internet message boards aren't the place to find them.

Just realized I haven't heard much about Ty Wheatley, Jr. this camp. Was he banged up?

Especially when you consider the cost of sending a broadcast team to a place like Australia. A pair of first class tickets is going to run at least $25k, then lodging, per diem, additional support staff...it all adds up pretty quick.
Add in the fact that its a pair of turd teams in Cal and Hawaii and its a pretty simple choice.
|1 day 1 hour ago||Its more than that||
Its more than just not developed, its that we really haven't recruited much NFL level-talent in a decade or two. Sure we've had a few guys here and there make it, but the last batch of great Michigan NFL players from those late 90s teams are either out or all on their last legs in the NFL.
Hopefully the 2017 draft class is the first step towards reversing that.

Long live 89X. Loved that station.

Yeah, its been a shame about all of the 5-star backs that Alabama has recruited that couldn't even play as freshman. They must have all been terrible.

Front few rows at a football stadium is one of the worst seats in the house if actually watching the game is a goal.

Oh....fun prop bet. Who scores more: Michigan defense or the Hawaii offense.

Cal is trash. Run all thoughts of Hawaii through that prism.

Kinda like this one. Pretty similar to how mine would be. Only change I'd make is I do think Michigan gets it done vs. Ohio State on the road and I'm not totally sold on TCU. Not sold on Oklahoma either though. Kinda like Oklahoma State as a dark horse in the Big 12.
|6 days 3 hours ago||Its a bad sign||
At positions like OL, where you generally want bigger, stronger, more seasoned upperclassmen, its a bad sign no matter how good the true freshman is. They are rarely - if ever -- good, and almost always just average or a weak link on the line.
So that's why.
|6 days 7 hours ago||It doesn't really change anything||
Including them or not including them doesn't really change anything. I'm just saying that Michigan fans want it both ways. They want credit for titles won decades ago, and they still want to be considered elite when that hasn't been the case for a really long time. Which is how you wind up 6th (which isn't bad!!).
I mean, where do people think Michigan should be ranked?

Pretty sure Ohio State has been the winningest team in CFB since 2004.
|6 days 7 hours ago||But that's the||
But that's the catch...Michigan fans still see Michigan as elite. In reality, they haven't really been elite in decades. Over the last 20 years or so, their winning percentage puts them in the lower teens around in Kansas State and Auburn territory. Over the last decade, they are a fringe top 25 team in terms of winning percentage.
|6 days 8 hours ago||I mean, it's unfair to teams||
I mean, it's unfair to teams like Michigan and Notre Dame, but if you're comparing a bunch of modern era teams, you should probably use modern era criteria. Harvard and Penn are top 10'ish on the all-time wins list. Would you even call them top 25 "blue bloods" or whatever?

Kinda the way it is for most recruits. Its important to recruit the player, but REALLY important to recruit mama.

It sounds like it's just move on time. Tough to bounce back from something like that in recruiting. It's hard enough to pull kids out of SEC country as it is, and this is the type of fuck up schools will use to recruit against Michigan in the south.

Our DL will be fine. They may appear behind becasue they are working on a new defense while the offense is in year two with essentially the same guys on the OL. But in general, I'd take it as great news for both lines. We know the DL will be excellent, and if the OL is holding up against them, then that bodes really well.
