He is not claiming to read

He is not claiming to read his mind. Based on the things that have been said and the circumstances he made a thought-out assessment of what makes the most sense. Its what all successful businessmen, lawyers, health care providers, police officers etc., do in their professional lives. Does it really make sense that RR knows he is going to keep his job and just decided to keep it a secret? You are just trying to be a jerk in order to be annoying. Mission accomplished.

I agree, if RR was going to

I agree, if RR was going to stay then DB could come out and say so and help recruiting and the like. I think he is testing out the market to see if he has a replacement lined up before he would let RR go (I guess that is fairly obvious). If he can't get a name dropper then RR stays regardless of what happens in the bowl game. I think DB is playing this pretty well.

Its not just about

Its not just about recruiting, its about what you do with those players once you recruit them. Great coaches make players better. This is exactly what JH did at Stanford, and why many people think he is a great coach.

You sound intelligent.

You sound intelligent.

Harbaugh had big wins in each

Harbaugh had big wins in each of those years. RR hasn't beat a ranked team, or a B10 team in the top half of the conference. Simply put we have looked terrible. RR and Michigan need a win today.

We haven't beat a ranked team

We haven't beat a ranked team in three years.

This is of course if RR

This is of course if RR remains, still an open question.

RR doesn't seem to really get

RR doesn't seem to really get the rivalry. Not sure if Denard does either, but it is very disturbing that RR doesn't.

Go Blue!

Go Blue!

Go Blue!

Go Blue!

For some reason I feel like

For some reason I feel like the grammar is correct. I can't figure out why though, it has been a long day.

We are going to the Insight

We are going to the Insight Bowl. Maybe we can face Texas!

I love that old Michigan v.

I love that old Michigan v. Purdue video. "Michigan for the third consecutive week pitches a shut-out." Those were the days!

Agree

Continuity on defense is not the same as on offense, schemes are not as hard to learn. He has had two years, was terrible before this, and has not shown us anything. As one of the highest paid state employees in Michigan I think he should have to produce results - crazy.

I agree. Any QB who has 4-5

I agree. Any QB who has 4-5 seconds to throw is going to find open receivers even with the best DBs.

I think you thoughts are spot

I think you thoughts are spot on. The 3-3-5 also looks like we are playing prevent non-stop. All these people were arguing to keep Greg Robinson last year too, your can't ignore failure by pointing out some of the good things. On balance this team is not doing well, and I don't blame the kids.

Doesn't the coach have a

Doesn't the coach have a responsibility to coach these kids up? Great coaches make average players into great players. It shouldn't take 4 or 5 years. Understandable these deficiencies would come to the surface against the best opponents, but it is every single game now. How has JH done so well at Stanford? Because he coached his players up, made them better. RR is the highest paid state employee Michigan. He needs to justify that salary quickly.

RR

The only reason RR may go if he is 7-5 is because how poorly he handled the NCAA investigation (both internally and with the NCAA). The actual violation was quite minor (not filing forms and a few extra minutes of practice), and the compliance office was just as much to blame. But instead of admitting fault and moving on he made some ridiculous arguments that put UM in a tough position, and ticked some people off. I think he should stay at 7-5 football-wise, but there may be some other factors that go into the decision.

Why does everyone blame the players?

Granted we do not have the talent at defense that the other top 25 teams do, but to be ranked 120 in pass defense while running a 3-3-5 is simply horrible. It looks like we are in prevent constantly; any QB with a shred of talent will have plenty of time to find an open receiver. It is a poor scheme with bad execution. The buck stops with the coach, not the players.

Michigan is a football school Michigan is a football school - deal with it or go somewhere else.
I agree the degree thing I agree the degree thing doesn't work and Michigan is not that great of an academic school. Although people in Michigan think that it is most of the rest of the country does not. Say University of Michigan in California or Florida people think football not academics. Some of the grad schools are well known but the undergrad accepts 50% of the applicants, I don't even think wal-mart hires 50% of it applicants! I love Michigan but some people keep trying to sell an undergrad degree from MIchigan as if its your meal ticket for life. Its a regular college, you will learn some stuff most of it is not going to do anything for you but some stuff will help. English 101 is the same at Harvard, Michigan, or Bowling Green. Lets sell the thing that really makes Michigan different - the proudest football tradition in the country, loyal fan base, and winged helmets!
I think it is a stretch to I think it is a stretch to blame the economy. Tickets the week of the game were selling for face value. Many people thought we were going to get killed so they decided not to come to the game. I have extra tickets that I couldn't give away to friends and family who were supposedly Michigan fans and who live in the area. I went to breakfast the next day with 6 "Michigan fans" who asked why there were so many Ohio State fans at the game and where were all the Michigan fans. They didn't even make the connection that they are the very people that they are complaining about - i had free tickets for them and they wouldn't come! Maybe the economy could effect those who would have came from out of town but I don't think that this explains it all.
As i am reading this there is As i am reading this there is a giant ohio state advertisement on the sidebar. The football store needs to know their audience!
I am from the west coast and I am from the west coast and never lived in Michigan until last year. All my life I have liked Michigan (and admittedly ND until the last few years) but never thought I could be so into a sporting event until I began going to Michigan games. There is certainly something intangible that not all people understand. When Michigan wins its like a drug and i crave that feeling, when we lose i have withdrawals. OSU is clearly the better team this year, more talent, more experience, etc., etc., but none of that matters in a rivalry game - GO BLUE!
A for effort A for effort
What bothers me is that we What bothers me is that we are getting worse as the season moves on. If we don't be Ohio State then really there was no improvement in our win loss record from last year. We essentially have 4 wins right now compared to 3 last year (Delaware State shouldn't count, last year we had a bye week in that slot). At this rate in 7 years we will be great! I still have faith though that Michigan can win Saturday, its just disturbing how we seem to have gone backwards.
Changing D-coordinators is Changing D-coordinators is much easier than changing head coaches. If you think that his job is a lock no matter what then so be it. Most people think that people need to show results in order to keep their jobs but if you don't then that's fine. I guess a 10-37 record at Syracuse merits giving him as many years as he needs here at Michigan. Robinson does not have the credibility built up that RR has. Also I don't want to be the new AD i just want the salary.
Keep improving The team needs to keep improving each year though otherwise recruits will sniff out the fact that RR may be fired. However I don't think Robinson has the same job security and that is where my major beef has been all year (even despite the players). I am not sure if it was missed assignments or a bad scheme on D against the speed and zone options but we constantly had players playing the RB and the QB which means they end up not being able to do either. On the zone option the backside DE should have been laying Juice out each time instead of trying to scrap down the line. Weird. But ya I agree keep RR for at least four, I think he will do well.
1 bad game This was the first game all year where I thought we looked bad. Certainly could have performed better at Iowa and Michigan State but we were still competitive in those games and they could have gone either way. Saturday however there was no doubt who the best team on the field was and it wasn't big blue. Michigan was very close to being 7-0 going into Penn State. I am as frustrated as the rest of you but I don't think that this one very poor game is enough to call the whole rest of the season a loss, call for a new coach, etc. You may end up being right but I still think we can compete with everyone on our schedule the rest of the way. 8-4 would be a success, 7-5 a disappointment, anything less would be a disaster. Go Blue.
He belongs as OSU. He belongs as OSU.
