It is impressive to me that you have built this blog from the ground up during some of the most difficult years of Michigan fandom while navigating various other life transitions (getting married, etc).
Thanks again for you work.

It's kind of like 'church-league' (anything). People run their mouths and pull cheap shots because they assume the other guy won't throw a punch or call them out. Pull that stuff with a bunch of strangers that don't have peers or family they're trying to behave in front of will get you put down.

There's no way the coaches aren't taking a hard look at themselves and their staff but you're never going to throw them under the bus publicly - especially in the heat of a poor performance loss. Without taking time to sit down and make a thorough review there is no way of knowing what changes would actually make a difference. Web critics can throw darts but head coaches can't.

I'm amazed at people insisting PG was a greater position of need than SG when the Piston's have a very likely shot at resigning Caledron (a ship that would have sailed has they drafted Burke), a veteran PG that delivers. Then later drafting Siva gets us depth at the 1. I think the Pistons had a good draft night even though I was emotionally invested in rooting for Burke in a Piston's jersey. They hired Mo Cheeks, a former PG with a coaching acumen for developing young talent, and seem to be heading toward hiring 'Sheed, a dominant big man that I think will make a good positional coach for us.
I've doubted JoeD in recent years but these seem like coherent moves consistent with an overall strategy that used advanced stat metrics. That's a big shift from how the Pistons approached the draft in years past.

I just read "Ender's Game" last week for the first time - great book. So good that I finished on the plane from Midway to LAX and picked up "Ender In Exile" to read on the flight back.

|42 weeks 1 day ago||So I actually read the||
So I actually read the 'Clowney article' and I think the OP is over-reacting. They do a great diagnosis of the play and the article is actually split between Clowney and Vincent Smith almost equally. Clowney gets the majority but Vincent Smith is a significant portion of the story including going back to his days in Pahokee and interviews with his coaches. It's actually pretty cool imho that Vincent Smith is getting some spotlight off of this as a solid football player with a longshot at making an NFL team due to his measureables.

As much as the OP could have used different language to broach the subject, I think it falls within the OT guidelines of the offseason. He's not proselytizing and I do think he makes a good point for all of us to be interested in who the successor is - for the very reason many critics of the OP have listed. The papacy is a powerful office for good or evil in our global society with the potential to greatly influence many nations around the world directly and indirectly - whether we're secular, protestan, RC, or whatever - we're all sharing this rock.
I'd expect a similar thread if the Ayatollah in Iran were to step down.

Call offensive push-offs and lowering the shoulder on drives to the hoop consistently and I'd be okay with voiding the rotational charge. As it is, the rules definitely favor the offense and I think making the changer you're advocating would just further tilt the balance in the offense's favor.

Yes, teams are units. But the leaders of teams, i.e. the coaches, bear more responsibility for the successes and failures of teams than the student-athletes themselves - especially when the gameplan seems to be running your weakness against the other team's strength. The OP and many of the commentators on here aren't 'pinning the blame on one guy' - we understand the caveats of having to deal with roster limits and lack of depth. We understand that players have to execute plays. But it's not like the team has been executing these plays all season and just had a letdown. We struggled running the interior against anyone and everyone - Air Force comes to mind and I'm wondering about UMass even in retrospect.
I'm not one of the one's calling for Borges to be fired (or burned in effigy) but mainly because I want him to have the chance to fully install his system with a couple years worth of players recruited for it. He hasn't done much that makes sense to me regarding play-calling and so I assume there must be information he has that I don't to make him call plays the way he does. He hasn't won my trust the way Mattison and Hoke have. Next year will be a key indicator of where this offense is heading and I think the jury is still out on whether Borges is an evil genius with a diabolical laugh or a football geek that ignores fundamentals to focus on his 'decided schematic advantage.'

How exactly is it insulting to the whole team? If you call plays your team hasn't executed well all year, does that mean it's on the players for not executing once again?

"Apart from sacks and a botched snap, Michigan only had 2 carries that lost yards, and moved the ball well enough to win."
I don't understand why we didn't keep lining up and running the ball more. Establish the run until they stop it - which they weren't able to do with their front 7 alone. Once they bring the safety down it should open something up over the top...
Especially when they're coverage is giving our Senior QB, one of the best runners in the nation, fits.

I've noticed that sometimes these presser recaps have important bullet point summaries placed at the beginning to avoid having to parse the full responses and questions for the substantive updates and other times they don't. Being in a particularly busy season of work, I would really appreciate if those bullet points were consistently provided in these presser updates.
I love having the full content available and the work you all are doing is great - just tough to keep up to speed on things unless I have 20 minutes to spare reading the full update. Thanks again for the efforts you all put into this blog.

the rule was against discussing politics - not unbiased, unfiltered, no spin news channels that would never consider supporting one political party over another? How dare you accuse the noble yet humble investigative journalists of Rupert Murdoch's employ to be aligned with a political cause. I dare say.

His dad had a decent relationship with MSU while Chris Williams wrestled for them but I don't know if that would be a strong enough leaning for Adam to go there if he had a chance at a degree and program on the upswing at U of M vs MSU.
Adam's been around wrestling since he could walk so his success isn't a huge surpise but still pretty awesome. Congrats to your cousin for his accomplishments regardless of the outcome today. Your uncle Dan was my high school coach at FHS and a major influence on me in those formative years. Wish I could have produced better for him in the W column.
