If those measurables on Chatman are legit then we should all be very excited. also I have very big expectations for Wilson. His ball handling and passing ability at that size are just rare. Still have to se how he transitions to college but having an amazing coaching staff makes me feel good about this. Im also very curious to see what doyle and donnal can bring to the table next year. God its awesome michgan has a basketball program again. Cheers !! !

As much as I want Gardner to be the guy and lead this offense I have to agree with gremlin. devins a great person and has a ton of talent but he just makes terrible decisions with the football. And for anyone who wants to use the offensive line excuse look back at last years northwestern game and the second half of the iowa game. The o-line was solid in those games and we actually could run the ball but devin was just awful. Should have been picked off atleast 4 times against northwestern and it was a miracle we won the game. I admit he played his ass off against ohio state though and will always love him for that. Gardner will most likely start the season but would bet a lot of money it doesnt stay that way for long.

The oline was definitley questionable from what i saw but i also think the coaches were mixing different groups together. I never saw Glasgow playing with Bosch or Kalis and i think when the season starts they will all start. Really hoping Magnuson can come back 100% or were in some big trouble. Braden looks like a bust to me. He seems to lean forward far too much and i dont trust him on passing downs and he doesnt seem to be this huge mauler in the run game even though hes a giant. I really liked what i saw from Cole out there and he will have a bright future. Dawson made a few mistakes but i saw a lot of good things from him especially on a few pulling plays.
Deveon smith should i believe will be the starting running back. Hes just flat out better than Green.
Freddy Canteen has been a very pleasant surprise. This kid could be something special. Has Denard game speed.
Devin Gardner... the support he gets around here still shocks me. The bottom line is hes a terrible decision maker and he always has been since stepping on campus. He has all the talent in the world but between the ears he doesnt have it. People will be in denile about this but a lot of sacks last year were a direct result of Gardner holding onto the ball to long and thinking he was Johnny Manziel. I really really do hope though that im wrong and he lights things up this year but i would bet a lot of money thats not going to happen. Nussmeier will put in Shane in the second half of the Notre Dame game and that will be the end of Gardners career, book it.
Liked what i saw from Speight out there.

Please dont compare him to d harris as that is laughable. Although I really like webers speed, acceleration and agility. He goes down farely easy and doesnt seem to be very strong. Reminds me a lot of justice hayes and michael shaw. I could never see him being more than a third down recieving back / special teamer.

Good news as he needs the practice reps. Still needs another year of getting stronger though before he can compete to start.

Magnus how can you judge Drake Johnson when no one has actually seen him play in a live college game? Have you been to practices and know something we dont? Now after a serious injury like that im not sure how he will play but I believe he could be perfect for our offense. I mean hes 6'1 and around 220 lbs and the fastest running back on the team. As far as Derrick Green, we all saw him improve once he lost some weight and i think he needs to lose another 5 lbs or so. Playing at around 225. I agree with Magnus that hes not the type of runningback who can create things on his own. The o-line must get some type of consistent push at the snap or were in trouble. If we were playing today I would start Deveon Smith. It was really frustrating he didnt get more snaps last year.
|28 weeks 2 days ago||If were going by rivals||
If were going by rivals ranking of Speight then yes we should consider him a sleeper. Along with many others here though i wouldnt consider him a sleeper. Hearing him talk in interviews really has me believe this young man will be something special for Michigan. I hear leadership in his voice. More so than our other quarterbacks. Combine that with his mobility, size, accuracy and throw on the run. Well, lets all be excited. My sleepers though are Chase Winovich and Bryan Mone. Winovich just needs to add on some weight which might take about two years but he has as much potentiol as anyone in the country IMO. His motor and athleticism is what sets him apart. Mones going to be sort of a project but his size, strength and natural balance are just things you cant coach. Very happy with this class :)

Lasthoke Im sorry to have missed all your posts. Everything I was thinking you said with a lot more clarity. The bottom line is I think everyone should be very happy with Pope thus far as hes PERFECT for THIS pistons team. The guy is all over the court always hustling and that defense is just awesome with flashes of offensive ability. Comparing upsides at this point. Pope > Burke
|35 weeks 1 day ago||I saw Pope play lights out||
I saw Pope play lights out defense against Paul George the other night so ill stick with my belief that he is an elite defender. His offense might be a project for a season or two, it seems his offensive awareness is below average but hes starting to get more comfortable with his shot. Burke had a good night against a bad Orlando team so I dont know how much i can take from that. Im still taking Jennings over Burke if you ask me. Jennings is simply a better ball handler and more athletic in my opinion. Burke will never be able to shut down the elite point guards in the league like Pope has to potential to do and has shown.
|35 weeks 1 day ago||As others have said Jennings||
As others have said Jennings is starting to gel and I would take him over Burke. Popes defense has been elite and his hustle is without question. I think Joe D made the right choice. Pistons are fun to watch again and have A LOT of potential.

Is anyone else hoping Morris can beat out Gardner this summer and become the starter? Seems like after the Ohio State game everyones back on the Gardner train but my faith in him being consistent is almost zero.

|37 weeks 3 days ago||A lot of that falls on||
A lot of that falls on Gardner holding onto the ball too long and seemingly never throwing the ball out of bounds. Near the second half of the season the offensive line DID improve there pass blocking. The northwestern game is a perfect example, we were running the ball effectively and giving him great protection yet he should have thrown 5 interceptions. We got lucky to win that game because Gardner was trying to give it away. Now onto the OSU game, i loved the heart he played with that game im not doubting that. Very proud of him and the whole team for that game. But over 150 yards passing in that game came from screen passes. See Gallons 84 yard run. See Jake Butts great run after the screen pass. Screen passes are essentially run plays, its not Gardner doing anything amazing. I just watched the replay of our offense in that game and it confirms my suspicions, the entire offense was making great plays the whole game. I just think everyones being blinded by one good game. Gardner deserves just as much of the blame about this offense IF NOT MORE, than Borges. yes... im so blasphemous

Gustavo you think Gardners a smart quarterback? Sure, he looked good saturday against Ohio State but did you even watch the Northwestern game? Talented yes, but smart....
|37 weeks 3 days ago||I'll give Gardner credit for||
I'll give Gardner credit for that Ohio State game, the guy played his ass off. But I think everyones fooling themselves if you believe hes a good quarterback. If someone else doesnt step up this offseason and beat him out were due for another rough year in 2014.
|38 weeks 5 days ago||This, Everyone wants to give||
Everyone wants to give Borges hate ( which he does deserve most times )
But the real reason has always been Gardner ALWAYS. Why do people refuse to believe this? Devin had solid protection today and look how awful he looked. Devin had a SOLID running game last week against NW and he should have thrown 4 INT's. The whole thing just sucks... why did we have to give him that fucking #98 when he had not even proved anything.
|38 weeks 5 days ago||The offense could never get||
The offense could never get any rythm this year with Gardner. The defense would eventually get tired and make some mistakes. Do I think coaching had a part to play in Gardners play? Absolutley, but for the most part my gut tells me this coaching staff did everything they could to prepare Gardner every week but he just couldnt cut it. He made terrible TERRIBLE decisions over and over again. The one thing that sealed the deal for me though was I havent seen any leadership from Gardner. Never saw him yelling or trying to pump guys up. His body language was always emotionless. Sure he would do some celebrations when we scored. But why nothing to try and pump his guys up to set up long drives? You always saw stuff from Denard, leadership qualities. And poise under pressure. I do believe Gardner would have performed much better if we could actually run the ball, something I put on the coaches and inexperience. Keeping Fitz in the game over Deveon Smith though? Thats a terrible call by hoke, Jackson? I dont know but just a terrible call. Fitz hasnt been the same since 2011. I dont give a shit if he was the hardest worker and a great example for the younger guys or whatever other reason they decided to leave him in there, the guy wasnt performing. For the most part I saw good pass blocking today. Giving Gardner adequite time to find someone. It never happened. Or recievers dropped balls, but in that weather you gotta cut them some slack. Theres no way were firing Hoke just yet, and it would be stupid. Also, and i know people will think im insane but my gut tells me to let Borges have one more year. I just believe Gardner has been the main problem this year, for the most part.

coachparker i also hope for this. I was very impressed from what little ive seen from Smith. Has great burst and brakes tackles better than Green. I can only guess hes not playing more because hes having trouble picking up the playbook. Or possibly hasnt shown the work ethic to " earn " playing time. Regardless i want him playing more.

Borges has been bad, but Gardner is worse. People need to realize we are going nowhere with him as our quarterback. The only thing i can think of is that he looks a lot better in practice but once the games start he panicks and makes terrible decisions.
