CTE also crossed my mind when I heard about this on TV this morning. I've always thought bmx, skaters etc were really the toughest athletes in sports. So many of these guys break bone after bone, do the most insane stunts and keep coming back for more. When i was younger there used to be dirt jumps right near my house, kids and teenagers came from all over to ride there. Matt hoffman and Dave Mirra were some of my heros. Really tragic.

He really reminds me a lot of Gronkowski in the way he moves for his size. Definitley will make an impact next season.

D'eveon Smith was flat out impressive this year and injury withstanding should crack a 1000 yards next season. I think D. Johnson and Higdon will battle it out for the backup.
My gut tells me Malzone becomes the backup behind O'kourn. But what I HOPE happens is that things start clicking with Gentry and he becomes a legendary Michigan quarterback.

In all honesty yes he does a great job at getting people angry to get more ratings. Its pretty clear when he says things he doesnt even believe himself. But he does speak the truth more often than not and even criticizes his beloved spartans quite often.
The main point he was trying to make today, which is valid. Is that the games are won on the field and not signing day. Like i said in a post earlier. TCU, BAYLOR and MSU laugh at recruiting rankings. It all comes down to player evaluation which thankfully Harbaugh and co are in the elite.

Ryan Glasgow and Chris Wormley at the moment are better than Gary. He needs one full year in the weight room before he really explodes.

TCU, MSU and BAYLOR laugh at rankings. Being a great evaluator is all that matters in the end.

awesome, it was a big disappointment when news floated around about him not being a part of this class.

I'll be one of the few but Hill was who I wanted to commit most ( marginally ) today.
Being able to learn under Lewis and Peppers will be huge. Kid looks like an elite lockdown corner and I think State wanted him badly.

Like a few others have said earlier about this years class having more athletes than in the past, I couldn't agree more. I've followed recruiting religiously for ten years now and this is the best class I've seen. The offensive side especially looks full of future NFL players.

I had to come back on here and take back some of the things I said earlier. After watching some more videos of him last night what I didnt notice was how stocky and filled out his physique was at first glance. It made him appear to me that he was shorter than his listed size. This kid definitley has the same type of build that Peppers has... not normal for a 17-18 year old. And also the way he moves seems very deceptive and elusive. Has much more athleticism than I initially thought.
Very excited hes a wolverine.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||From watching his highschool||
From watching his highschool highlights my takeaway as of why he didnt get ranked higher is from lack of speed, lateral agility, height and in my opinion bad competition level. Looks like hes playing against a lot of skinny slow white kids.. ( im white ). Dont forget how Ty Isaac looked in his highlight film.
Looks like he has the potential to be a great role player and asset in many ways but the Eric Berry, Jabrill Peppers comparisons seem too much.

Von Miller instantly came to mind after seeing probably his 4th play. Gets me really excited to see a lot of us agree with that. What an amazing class were puting together. Looks like Don Brown is an elite talent evaluator.

Im not so sure thats the case regarding under the radar recruits. I think this coaching staff is simply the best at evaluating elite NFL level talent out of high school and star ratings arent something they worry about. That being said im glad im not the only one who thinks Walker seems overrated. It looks like he goes down to easy and isnt that strong of a runner. Personally im much more excited about Kingston Davis and Higdons future at Michigan.

Devin Gardner. Good person, team player. Horrible quarterback.
He cant even make an NFL practice squad. He simply wasnt very good. There was a number of games the offensive line was blocking good and he was throwing the ball all over the place. Go watch the 2013 Iowa and Northwestern games.
Edit. Thats my last Devin Gardner was a bad quarterback regardless of coaching and terrible offensive line post.
|22 weeks 1 day ago||Yeah.. some of these||
Yeah.. some of these comments are both hilarious and sad. On a serious note, hunter johnson the brownsburg quarterback is very impressive. He has a much quicker release than Peters and seems deadly accurate. Looks like tennessee found a good one in him.

If we can have some semblance of a running game by seasons end and can keep long drives going, controlling the clock. We might have a shot against them. Getting Drake Johnson back and everyone else staying healthy will be key.

|22 weeks 5 days ago||I thought overall the defense||
I thought overall the defense played solid and didnt panic in bad situations.
It seems like a lot of people on here dont want to give Travis Wilson any credit. His short to intermediate pass accuracy was on the money and was hitting his guys in stride. Also scrammbled very well and showed deceptive speed. This guy could be a nightmare for many teams this year.

Nothing ground breaking here but thought I would comment about what i saw yesterday.
My grandmother is visiting from florida and shes a diehard Michigan fan. She had never seen the bighouse before so the whole family decided to take a trip down there with her and take some pictures in front of the stadium.
As we were going over the bridge over looking the outside practice field the team was out there practicing. Me and grandma ended up getting out of the car to watch practice from the bridge for about 5 minutes. A few things i noticed.
Morris and Rudock kept being rotated after about 3 plays each.
Morris threw an interception and every defender went pretty nuts yelling and screaming.
Players were being substituted very fast and they would get to the next play quickly. The practice seemed very uptempo and organized.
|27 weeks 1 day ago||The player ranking system||
The player ranking system also stuck out to me when reading this. Theres no way this doesnt have a huge impact on the team. Guys will start working themselves to death to move up the list.
Im thinking Joe Bolden is #1.
|32 weeks 6 days ago||And you won't see anything||
And you won't see anything from them this year monkey, because well.. There just not that good. It seems michigans top rated players the last few years outside of a few guys ( peppers, butt, bolden ) have simply been over hyped and aren't who we all wanted them to be. It's still confusing how some people on this board cling to false hopes about some of our guys. Devin Gardner being the worst example of the delusional hopes star rankings can bring.

injuries aside I just can't see Smith getting more than 7-8 carries a game. His poor vision is the biggest reason.

Go blue 1984 I'm with you on this. Shallman definitely surprised me with some of his runs in the spring game and I think he's going to be the starting running back at some point this season. From what I could tell he seems to have great vision and a very strong first cut. Extremely elusive running style. He also caught the ball very well a few times and is a good blocker. Derrick green is simply overrated and is what he is. A very average running back who goes down easily despite his size. I still think he can be a solid contributor obviously but should not be the starter. Deveon smith can't see the holes and won't be able to pickup the playbook fast enough. I'm hoping Ty Issac can blow up and become a star but not counting on that happening. My votes on Shallman then possibly Karan Higdon being the dark horse surprise of the year. He seems the opposite of Derrick green in that he doesn't go down easy and has the strength to compete in college right away.

Definitley needs to get a lot stronger but I see the potential with him. Good ball skills, good hips and very long arms. Awful tackler and seems to be pretty soft physically, hopefully going up against top competition in practice will improve this. Overall I believe the coaches have a plan in place for him and he seems more of a situational passing downs player.
