Ace ...

... I made a hype video for the basketball team awhile back.  Not sure if it was before you got here or not, but nonetheless, I figured it only appropriate to bring it up given that the football team gets their own every year.

Here's the link to the diary entry:  http://mgoblog.com/diaries/video-diary-um-hoops-hype-video-2k11

And the link to the main video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laTDALJlA7k

Do with it what you will sir.  Keep up the good work.

Does ...

... anybody have a woodshed I can borrow?  I need to take the OP out back for a second.

This is ...

... the analytical equivalent of "taking a politican at their word" when their voting record "clearly indicates otherwise".  Everyone says what they need to say to keep the press happy, please boosters, get elected and generally establish a mentality about themselves/their team.  Instead of just interpreting the votes/playcalls, there's unnecessary backtracking to review meaningless statements to the press that could mean anything.

Article Summary:  Playcalling History = Indicates Personnel Based Flexibility

Nothing else need be said.

Anything else related to "MANBALL" references is nothing but inference, inferences that are inherently biased by one's own fears/proclivities.

Nobody knows how Hoke will handle future offenses, but it's plainly obvious that he will defer to Borges and allow him to build it based on the roster personnel (for this season), and then rebuild/tweak the playbook depending on future recruiting.  I highly doubt that with someone as talented as Shane coming in, we dip to 65% running plays regardless of down.

That's just paranoid.

This is a job for ...

... well, Me, I guess.

Hold on, let me get my cape.

#facepalm

Nice Find!

Great to see a post on another website that simultaneously gives Denard some much-deserved pub (albeit by someone who calls him "shoelaces" *cringe*) while providing a link to a video that reminds OSU of their station in life.

Solid find, thanks for the post!

The Rilo Kiley ...

... ones were excellent.  I loved those videos, both the original and the one shortsgoblue did last year.  I don't have any intentions on doing a Rilo Kiley version right now, b/c as maineandblue said, shorts mentioned he was working one another version for this season and I didn't want to step on anyone's toes.  When I did the hype video I posted last week w/ the Armageddon speech, I wanted to break the mold a bit and do my own version of the hype video, but if there's no Rilo version posted by the weekend before the Western game, I may put some work into it that week and see what I come up with.

Thank You ...

... again for all that great old footage you put together.  It really made finding all those clips easy and it was in solid quality.

YouTube's copyright policy is ever-evolving and now most things are "fair use" provided you're not trying to profit off of it, and are making the work transformative as opposed to directly ripping off someone's work without credit.  YouTube has adopted a "copyright holder action" policy instead of a "YouTube action" policy, meaning that YouTube won't take things down unless the copyright holder has specifically said you can't use their material.  After every upload, during the "processing" phase, YouTube is scanning your video for tagged material that has a digitally embedded tag.  If it's already flagged, they let you know and your video is blocked.  If the song/video copyright holder has allowed for YouTube use, provided ads are shown in the video, they let you know and flag your video accordingly.  You can still post it, and use the song that you got from say iTunes, but you'll get the occassional ad.

Hope that helps.

Here are some articles about it:

No worries ...

... I didn't take it as you being a dick at all.  If people never offered any constructive criticism, everyone would think their work is as perfect as it can be.  I just wanted to make sure that all the correct people got credit for the film work that I used in the video.  Thanks for finding that clip.  Those shots were too good to go uncredited.

No worries ...

(mis-replied ... see below)

So many ...

... positive comments and feedback from everyone, I'm greatly appreciative.  I'm glad to see that this hit the right spots with people (for the most part) and gets everyone appropriately amped up for the football season.  Thanks for watching.

I have ...

... no plans on taking it down unless Michael Bay sues me, which apparently is not a problem as I've got a crack law center team with COD chops on call if need be (see above posts).

So yes, should be there forever for all to watch.

That made ...

... me grin ear to ear when I read that.  You're extremely welcome.

It sounds like you've got a brilliant child on your hands.

Oh ...

... and I thought the exact same thing about the little girl's voice in the background, believe me, as a meticulously detailed editor, it grated on me.  In the end though, I just had to make due given how much I loved the overall combinations of the video and speech.  If I had better audio editing software, I could've broken down the track into it's individual voice channels, but if I had that kind of money to spend on software I'd be in another line of professional work, lol.

Thanks for the honest feedback, it's duly noted.

Everything else ...

... aside, as it's your opinion and you're certainly entitled to it, but if you could give me a link to that video produced by the students, or a link to an article about it, I'd be happy to update the post and my YouTube description to make sure I give them proper credit.  I tried to google it but didn't have much luck, as I wasn't really sure what I was looking for.  The clips were so well done I thought they were part of the ESPN video.

The sheer ...

... brilliance of that idea ALMOST makes me want to go back and recut and re-render the video.

Almost.

Glaring oversight on my part.  Apologies.

That's Awesome

Happy to help.

Love the user name BTW.

See ...

... Michigan Football Hype Video 2K12.

(I hope)

(Please God!)

(Hello?  God?)

(Fuck ...)

*crosses fingers, rubs rabbit foot, etc. etc.

No Worries!

... believe me I appreciate the honest feedback.  The music was the toughest part, and I certainly agonized over it the longest.  Ultimately though, the music is the most impossible thing of mashup/highlight videos to get right since you're catering to an impossibly large and unknown audience.  In the end, I went with grandoise noise-banging over substance/quality.  I just loved the "go to war" theme too much.

Hopefully next year aspires me to different musical heights for my video and your ears will be slightly less harmed.

Thanks again for the feedback.

I don't ....

... necessarily disagree and I considered that thoroughly before posting, but just so you know, the hype video that I downloaded those clips from borrowed them from somewhere else as well, so I didn't really feel I was "infringing" on his original work, as it wasn't really his original work to begin with, just recycled clips from other television programs.  I made sure to give proper thanks to all who had made their own hype videos, and I felt that was enough.  When you're putting something like this together, so much of it is borrowed and recycled anyway, you just have to figure out a way to spin it freshly.

Thanks for the feedback though regardless, always appreciated.

Yes.

Absolutely intentional.  That's one of my favorite plays of all-time.

Who knew Michael Bay would be so helpful?

I wish ...

... I could take credit for those "over laid" visual effects, but those were all from an ESPN video that was covering Michigan's transition and history awhile back.

I actually thought about making it into two videos, but it's just easier/nicer to watch them together IMO.

Michael Bay did kill Megan Fox so ... your thought there does have great merit.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone, it's appreciated.

I'll put my head to the summer grindstone and see if I can't throw out a few more entertaining videos for the mgocommunity's enjoyment.  If anyone has any suggestions or ideas I'm certainly willing to listen and storyboard.

Hmmm ...

... not sure if I should be flattered or shamed?

You know, he had me hooked until he threw his first random ellipse after a defenseless exclamation point.  After that it just became a bunch of repetitive dissonance.

Awesome.

Front page bump on my first day?  Thanks Misopogon.  That's incredibly excellent of you.

If I could +20 for the FF reference I would.  Phrase nicely turned.

It's all down hill after the "100% Pure Colombian Awesome" tag.  Looks like I'll have to figure out how to up my game.

Great first day as an official MgoBlog user.

Ohio State Inception

Hey Guys, I know this is unrelated/off-topic but I just recently joined and I wanted to post a topic related to a video I made.  If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.  The link is a parody of the Ohio State scandal using the Inception movie trailer.

Here's the actual link to YouTube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH1jeePj80A

Just so you know I'm not trolling, I posted it on Maize 'n Brew already.  Here's that link for verification:  http://www.maizenbrew.com/2011/7/19/2282663/ohio-state-inception-parody

Thanks in advance.
