Saban's reaction?

Interesting to see what Saban's reaction will be, as he was quite outspoken against satellite camps and seemed to have ethical complaints more than thinking it would negatively impact recruiting. Will he stand behind his initial position? I think not...

Interesting timing...

Attended a talk with David Cutcliffe this morning (I'm wrapping up my mba at duke) and had a good conversation with him about recruiting. He shared a couple Harbaugh stories and mentioned that he was very much against the satellite camps because of the ethical issues that arise with paying high schools). He believes the 'loophole' will be closed soon before the camps transform into an AAU/basketball sponsorship type event.

On a side note, overall incredibly impressed with Cutcliffe. Very well spoken and clearly runs a very value driven program, I hope to see him have continued success in the ACC.

Haven't posted in a while but love this one...

My wife and I have two dogs, a 4 year old shepherd mix named Bechler and 5 month old golden retriever named Millie.

I live in Durham and my wife

I live in Durham and my wife works at UNC, it's taking her over three hours to get home from work today (we're both from Michigan, this is definitely about the area not having the infrastructure to deal with this weather).  We talked about trying to make the game, but seems very unlikely (even though tickets are very very cheap).

Beat ND!

This weekend is campout for graduate students at Duke. I was lucky enough to get a Dr's note saying that I couldn't participate which means I still can get tickets to the Michigan @ Duke BB game and I can watch the game from home instead of on an iPad on the back for a uhaul after not sleeping for 24 hours.

Just started at Duke/Fuqua

For my MBA. I've started talking with classmates and already made it clear that I'll be buying as many tickets to this game as possible to distribute to Michigan fans, can't wait. Go Blue.

Theoretically I wouldn't

Theoretically I wouldn't disagree with your points, but it is worth noting that while attending informational sessions for the Ross MBA program they make Michigan athletics and the football Saturday experience a very tangible selling point.  It does make an impact on individual decisions to attend the University, and more broadly impacts the Michigan brand that is amongst the most well-known and highly regarded globally.  If you eliminated football, Michigan would still be a top notch educational institution, but more akin to prestigous liberal arts schools on the East Coast that don't hold the same global regard.

OP, that sounds like a glorious day. I checked out a little early myself and hit an awesome bottle of Pinot noir from Willamette Valley in Oregon. Took the second bottle with my fiancé to Toro Sushi (Chicago). If you like sushi and are in Chicago, it is hands down the best in the city, and Mitch the chef is the man.

I would be interested in reading up on shoulder injuries, specifically labrum vs. rotator cuff.

I had invasive surgery to repair a torn labrum in both shoulders (plus a partially torn labrum in my hip), and find the joints to be a huge pain in the ass.

Will I do it anyway? Let's be honest, only if the fiance gives me permission (so no).

Also, I voted.

Morning spent studying for the GMAT and hitting the gym, but had time to start slow cooking the ribs at 9am and they'll be good to go for the BBQ at 3.

In Ann Arbor today actually, just had a meeting with the University, don't want to jinx anything but they seemed optimistic that we'd soon be working together!

Now sitting in the Starbucks on the corner of State and Liberty catching up on some emails.  Just saw Mitch McGary walk around the corner, he's looking very solid.

Very OT:

Not enough points to post, was waiting for something ND related to add this info.

Happened to have lunch with Mike Brey last weekend during a golf outing in the Chicago land area.  Very nice guy, didn't mince his words and happy to chat sports with a Michigan fan.  Had nothing but good things to say about the future of U of M basketball, and also thought his team was going to be very tough this year with all starters returning.

The interesting points he made were about ND and conference realignment:

1. He feels from a basketball perspective ND must stay in either Big East or go to ACC, he said they can't afford to lose their ties to the East Coast.

2. He actually thought that this was going to be the year that football joined a conference (namely the Big12). While that didn't happen, he seemed certain that ND football moving to a major conference was a done deal within the next few years.

Not sure if that adds any insight, but I was excited to have the chance to chat with the man and thought I'd share his words.

Have a shelter dog named Bechler

Unusual, but Michigan fans still get it.

Any Duke MBAs?

On a lighter note, 1-year anniversary of the opening of Chick-fil-a in Chicago, got a free chicken sandwich for lunch.

More seriously, realized it's time for a change in career and am quickly deep into the process of trying to get ready for applying to MBA programs.  Undergrad at Ross, really want to go to Fuqua for their Health Sector Management program...any MGoPoster's out there also Duke alumns?

Just went through this

Just went through this myself, now in the wedding planning stages.  We met at the Michigan/MSU game in '06 (Sophomore year), she was painted as the 'O' in GO BLUE. It was love at first sight....

On to something more important, this was shot down for our wedding but I would definitely recommend it: http://www.twitvid.com/SAZLU

Imerman Angels

One-on-one cancer support organization. Based in Chicago but founder is a Mich grad and from Detroit (was also recently honored by the College of LS&A for his work in the area). We have race teams at events all over the country (my brother will be running the Ann Arbor half-marathon for IA next month) and love to do events with local gyms/ fitness groups. Check out www.imermanangels.org, worthy cause to support.

(sorry for the plug, seems like a good opportunity to share some good organizations with Michigan ties and could definitely benefit from your program).

Thanks for the insight, tons

Thanks for the insight, tons of help.  Unfortunately I was a fishing guide in an old life, sitting behind a desk in Chicago now.  But, I should be able to find some old connections that would be helpful, now I just need to find someone to learn with me.

I have never been hunting

but have always wanted to go.  My dad used to hunt with his father but when my brother and I were younger my mom made him stop going.  Any advice for a complete novice on how to pick up hunting a few decades into his life?

My lack of knowlege makes the idea intimidating, but I have spent a great deal of time outdoors in the SE as a fishing guide (never understood how I've fished through the low country but never have hunted), any tips would be appreciated!

Had a meeting at BTN recently

Had a meeting at BTN recently with their social team and was informed that they keep very close tabs on the school blogs. In fact, when the network first started they made a point of reaching out to many of the influential bloggers for input. They even hosted someone from eleven warriors (Alex maybe?) who is based in Chicago and works down the street from their offices.

I spent a couple hours

I spent a couple hours cleaning my grill last weekend with a beer in hand.  Considering I was also able to squeeze in 18 holes, I would call that a hell of a weekend. Jumping out of work early today to go play tennis with a friend, then taking pizza to another buddy's house because he just had hip surgery and can't move (tough life for a kid who is 25).
