I work in a field where we would have to respond to any big earthquakes in the region.  After those two desert jolts in July 2019, the VP of my company asked me to move to LA fro the East Coast, anticipating "the big one" was coming.  There was talk that those were "pre-shocks."   5 Years later I've been promoted back to an East Coast gig.

I do know for a fact that my ground floor apartment would have been completely flooded by this recent rain.  Over New Years in 2021-22 I was flooded so badly I had to leave home - so I hopped a flight to Miami and caught the Orange Bowl!  Good times except for the result haha.

I travelled to Scotland and…

I travelled to Scotland and England by myself to watch cricket and play golf.  I had the time of my life - no regrets.

I love Michigan football much, much more than I love cricket or golf.

Do it.

We fear no man, or team.

I have a cousin who has lived there forever.  Actually a beautiful place.   Great outdoors adventuring in the Smokey Mountains - nice rivers and whatnot.   Knoxville is a great town and the surrounding areas are quite nice.

The thing is - St. Louis is…

The thing is - St. Louis is easy to hate as well.  Their fans made me root for the Avs for the first time ever.  Racist attacks and death threats against Nazem Kadri were disgraceful - and unsurprising from them.   Glad StL lost.

Congrats coach Mac.  This is…

Congrats coach Mac.  This is what happens with good, healthy programs.   Bama is putting their OC in a head coaching or pro coordinating position annually. Not a bad thing to show potential candidates.

Jim gets one shot to beat Ohio.  If loss - Urban Meyer who will forgive for the Ohio and the crimes and the murders as I'm sure he's learned his lesson, or... drumrolll...

CHARLES WOODSON.    Natty winner as a player, unlike Jim, and a Super Bowl to be boot.  Proper Champion.  DB's won't get cooked like that in a Woodson regime either.   Proper winner and champion.    Don't @ me.

They already lost to Arizona State.  They're not gonna be the best of anything after this game, but could ruin Ohio's season.

Go Green / Go White.

The great thing is that one…

The great thing is that one of them will lose, and we can then schadenfraude said fanbase.

Gun to head: I'm putting on a Sparty helmet.  Beat Ohio.

I'd then tell all my Sparty friends, because little else mind**** them more than a scUMmer rooting for MSU.

All whites are incredible.

All whites are incredible.  Do not change back.

It doesn't require much

It doesn't require much "imagining" to come up with a worse task.

That time he had to manage DB / Shanecussion gate  was probably a bit worse for him than "coach isn't talking right now."

C'Mon Man That's obviously Lil Wayne not Wiz Khalifa. Dude has sold more records than Elvis. And Jack Kennedy opened for him. Embarrassing, or a somewhat offensive joke?
There are plenty of alumni There are plenty of alumni myself included who are happy to bride that 4mil. Chump change for us, really. Shouldn't be an issue.
A right cracker in Auckland.

A right cracker in Auckland.  They've shed the ghosts of 92 at Eden Park, the Black Caps.

Brilliant.

Because having a proven

Because having a proven quarterback would be a potential gamechanger for this team, going a long way towards answering the single biggest question mark on the roster?  Is that helpful?

I have not seen any

I have not seen any confirmation that he has joined the team.  Have you?

I would expect nothing on him

I would expect nothing on him or Lyons until there's a clear green light from admissions.  That sort of thing basically never happens for us.  All of our 5th year tranfers generally turn out to be pipe dreams, once the admissions folk get to dream-killing.

LOL @ Sweson getting the BBQ

LOL @ Sweson getting the BBQ reinstated.

All of it.  Nike + Harbaugh

All of it.  Nike + Harbaugh and there's no stopping us.  I really think they're worth about 1 point a game.  Maybe 1.5.

Admissions: Admit this fine

Admissions: Admit this fine student.  Thanks in advance.

You can consider this a letter of recommendation.

Nike is the superior product.

Nike is the superior product.  We're costing ourselves dearly on the field and hardwood with critical footwear, selling our souls for Adidas cash.  It's not worth it.  Nike.  Just do it, Hackett.

Hold on.  Can't let that go

Hold on.  Can't let that go unchecked.

Prety much every coach on every staff?

Hoke

Funk

F. Jackson

Borges

Hecklinski

AKA the HC and the entire offiensive staff, unless I'm forgetting someone. Did any of them ever coach or play in the league in any capacity whatsoever?   Please correct me if I'm way off here, but I don't believe that they did at all.   I see Heck played in the arena league for a tiny bit...

I think you are

I think you are mis-remembering here on your entire premise.

Their recruiting is

Their recruiting is definitely up... They will start Malik McDowell and Lawrence Thomas on the DL next year - two 5 stars we were after.

There's no way Jim will go to

There's no way Jim will go to that meeting.

He has so many other attractive options: Meeting with his brother in Baltimore, meeting with Ty Wheatley at Red Robin.   It makes no sense.

I'm told he will go to a big important meeting with his financial advisor, about tax returns now that it's January.

You guys are delusional to think he goes to this meeting.

Please oh God let this be

Please oh God let this be true.

The extra money is NOT worth it.   I am completely convinced that Adidas vs. Nike is costing us wins on the field.  In recruiting, and in PERFORMANCE of the athletes.  Nike is top of the line.   Best shoes, best clothes, you can perform much better in this gear, and feel much better too.

I would take several million less on a contract for the competetive advantage that is Nike.

Just look at this year's playoff: All Nike.  Make this happen, Mark.

This one

is BEGGING for Dicks.  It's like an alley-oop.

WHO ARE YOU DICK

WHO ARE YOU DICK BLOCKHAM!!

Duped?

I don't know who the original poster is from the "Academics" diary, but I have a hard time shaking the notion that it's a troll, trying to make Hoke look bad.  He stole that line from teh Auburn Real Sports.

To pull a "convenient" one on

To pull a "convenient" one on a kid from a feeder school like Cass Tech would be... unadvisable, in my opinion.  I think the coaches would see that angle - although of course we can't rule anything out.  Hopefully a reporter will reach out to Teric for his story, now that he's off the squad.

Bring Back the Fab Five shorts!

I don't think I have enough points to start a thread, but we need to make this happen.  Someone needs to do a peitition or something!

The Fab Five shorts were to me as a youngster as iconic and "Michigan" as the winged helmet. Those shorts were such an outrageous fashion statment at the time, that we absolutely flocked to and they still stand to this day.

The Big Ms had to intimidate opponents.  They'd still be good for a few points a game.  I hate our tiny Ms now.  Who's with me?

It goes into real time

It goes into real time on/around Signing Day, IIRC.  As new commits announce the classes rankings go up and down.  IIRC they just plug in the Rivals Rating into their formula. It keeps going after signing day as well, in case of late commits from big prospects like a Terrell Pryor.

How it works: There are three How it works: There are three major competitions played at overlapping times throughout the year. #1 is the Premiere League. These are the top 20 teams in England. Everyone plays everyone else twice, home and away. 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. Top points getter wins the league. No playoffs. It's a pure table, which is great. Bottom three get demoted out of the Premier League, which is a massive kick in the junk revenue-wise. Traditionally, winning the league is the biggest deal in England. #2 is the FA Cup. Basically every tiny football club in England gets to play in this single elimination, random draw tourney. Think Hoosiers. The small clubs have a chance (but dont usually win). The big boys get byes until the round of 64, IIRC. The finals are always played at Wembley, and the competition is played concurrently to the league. #3 is the Champions League. Top few teams from each country get in this awesome big money tourney. Winner are declared champions of Europe. This has grown in importance wildly over the past few years. Also played simultaneously to the regular season #4 is the Carling Cup AKA League cup. this is a single elim tourney, but only for the top 80 or so teams (the League, as they call the top competitions). This is pretty much an afterthought for most teams. It doesn't have the history and romance of the FA cup.
I think above wins and losses I think above wins and losses is the direction of the program. Obviously, only a one game progression would yield a winning record and bowl game. If we miss our mark by one game again, you'd have to look at the bigger picture. You don't just can a guy who has only had two (really good) recruiting classes, who overhauled the entire scheme. He needs more time to build a program if you're gonna give him an honest chance to do things his way. Of course, we'd love and NEED the Lloyd recruits to be major contributors this year. Rich is giving them every chance (Woolfork, Martin, Mouton, Ezeh, RVB, O-Linemen, Stonum, I could go on and on.) The problem is, our secondary is going to be scarily young, and Rich Rod was kind of screwed on this end, as with the QB situation. Still, I don't like excuses, and I hope the head coach makes none, even if we all know what they might be. We'll re-assess after the season, but I'd lean to a year four almost no matter what.
Yup. This is only his second Good stuff, thanks for this report.
If they don't get Suh, I'd If they don't get Suh, I'd love Eric Berry. I wanted Ed Reed over Joey H, no joke.
