|1 day 22 hours ago||True that||
Also, one of them walked into a fully loaded team and the other is executing a major rebuild
|2 days 7 hours ago||You would prefer||
to hear about OSU in the title game? Meyer still undefeated?
|6 days 12 hours ago||Thanks SC||
As a non X's/O's guy, I love it when you post.
|1 week 21 hours ago||True re the big plays||
|1 week 1 day ago||Disagree||
An explanation becomes an excuse only if it is invalid. In our case, pointing to the youth on the team is not invalid, it is plainly obvious.
10 of 14, wolverine1987. 10 of 14. Someone around here needs to continue harping on that number as much as necessary until it finally sinks in. 14 scholly OL, 10 with freshmen eligibility. Exactly who is it that you think would not have stuggled with that kind of depth chart? I can't think of anyone.
MSU '12? Really? I thought we won that game. And after Denard had thrown 6 picks vs the other two elite defenses we had faced, was it not a defensible decision to limit the playbook a little bit vs. MSU?
OSU last year - everyone harps on that, "Why did they stop going to Denard?" Has it occurred to you that maybe he re-aggravated his ulner nerve injury? Maybe that had something to do with his fumble?
I'd like to see Borges working with a normal roster, i.e. mostly upperclassmen, before passing judgment. And this is ludicrous?
Again, strong disagree.
|1 week 1 day ago||Dead wrong||
Obviously, losing always sucks. Losing to a hated rival sucks more. But had we been annihilated in this game it could have affected recruiting. As it turned out, the team proved that there is not anywhere near as much distance between these two programs as anyone thought.
If you think that doesn't matter, a lot, then you don't know that much about college football.
|1 week 1 day ago||You're so right||
The 2-pt conversion failed, so this staff sucks. Just think, if only they had made that one play, then they would be awesome.
And anyone who can't go out and rip people to shreds for an entire season with 10/14 scholarship OL having freshmen eligibility, well...they should just be put against a wall and shot without mercy.
|1 week 1 day ago||No question, Mr. Kass||
Hoke & Co. are rebuilding the roster. That is job #1 right now, and they are hitting it out of the park in that area.
We will reap if we do not faint.
|1 week 1 day ago||Absolutely||
That should be the measuring stick, how Hoke's recruits do as upperclassmen. Otherwise the logic is "Well, if they can't win with 10/14 scholarship OL having freshmen eligibility, they're just not good enough for Michigan!"
Our OL won't be mostly freshmen every year.
|1 week 2 days ago||Why false hope?||
You think our OL will be mostly freshmen next year too???
|1 week 2 days ago||Greetings Wolverine1987||
Specifically, what I think is that any coach anywhere would have struggled to adjust around so much inexperience on OL and TE's.
|1 week 2 days ago||And||
Shaking off the previous few weeks, heavy criticism, physical pain, and the pressure of The Game...
|1 week 2 days ago||BUT||
having said that, so proud of this team and this staff. No one expected us to play with them as their equals, and we sure enough did.
|1 week 2 days ago||After putting 41 on #3 OSU?||
Playing with the inexperienced OL we have?
|1 week 2 days ago||Disagree||
We couldn't stop them, they couldn't stop us, go to OT and take your chances.
|1 week 5 days ago||Against App State who knows||
but against conference competition, well...to a certain degree, yes. Next year we will have almost no upperclass scholly OL on the team. What is so hard to understand about this?
Dominant teams are loaded with upperclassmen on both sides of the ball, with perhaps a few superstud underclassmen sprinkled in here and there. On offense, that will not be us until at least 2015.
If there is no improvement at all next year then yes, of course that will be cause for alarm. But to expect a position group with almost no upperclassmen to be mauling people next year is way too optimistic.
|1 week 5 days ago||You can't possibly be saying||
that we know with certainty that players won't work out in the long run b/c they struggled as freshmen.
|1 week 5 days ago||Short sighted||
would be not recruiting enough OL b/c you already have some good ones on campus. Most important position group on the team, there should be some in every class.
In any event, no one can point to the dream OL depth chart we'd have right now if RR had stayed.
|1 week 6 days ago||Agree||
and I don't think this is a wrong approach.
Provided that Hoke and his staff continue recruiting as they have done to date, they will at least have rebuilt the roster in the next year or two. That will not have been an insignificant contribution to Michigan football.
|1 week 6 days ago||Remember "never forget"?||
For a number of reasons we could barely keep DB's on the team under RR.
No one is putting together a "never forget" graphic for our OL just yet.
|1 week 6 days ago||Disagree||
The only stat that matters for this year's OL is 10 of 14. As in, 10 of 14 scholly OL have freshman eligibility.
TE's are also babies (highly rated babies, but babies nonetheless), as RR didn't recruit many TE due to his offensive philosophy.
As many others here have stated:
* starting an underclassman b/c he's beaten out the upperclassmen at his position: great.
* starting an underclassman b/c you have no upperclassmen: not so great.
* starting a bunch of underclassmen, with underclassmen behind them for depth: well...
Our JV can't block the other team's varsity, go figure.
|1 week 6 days ago||I defended RR and still like him a lot||
but in the end there was no choice. The defense worsened each year he was here until they were the worst in the country; most blue chip defensive recruits were not going to be interested.
I think the offense would have been deadly that year had he stayed - no confusion r.e. system, Denard in the spread, etc - but had he stayed RR would also be facing the music this season for the lack of OL recruiting.
|2 weeks 19 hours ago||True||
...but then there's the problem of understanding what other people say.
"Ay ombe, cuadro, que vaina...es la pura berraquera, pues..."
|2 weeks 22 hours ago||DelhiGoBlue||
You are right. This whole community needs to step away from the ledge.
|2 weeks 22 hours ago||Sigh||
Not ridiculous if you take the time to look at the OL depth chart. RR's catastrophic OL recruiting was a roster time bomb - you don't see the impact of it until the OL he should have brought in would have been upperclassmen. For us, that time is now.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Very cool||
I learned at Michigan and now travel thru the Americas for work. Saw the NCAA final vs Louisville from Bogotá.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Ni idea acerca del DF||
But I've seen a game or two from Latin America (saw UTL 1 from my hotel in Havana).

You can't do that in a different thread?
