You know you're on fire when even your "minor infractions" are good publicity.
All this story does is spotlight the fact that the CEO of a company that revolutionized media is a Michigan alum. That's a lot better than all other infractions everyone hears about that involve slimy agents, pay-for-play, strippers, etc...
Three guys are driving in a car when suddenly, the driver swerves, hits a tree, and they all die.
The three of them go to Heaven and see God in a this huge room surrounded by billions of clocks. They ask God, "what are all these clocks for?" and God replies, "Everytime you jerk off, the clock moves forward a little".
Guy#1 looks around for his clock, finally finds it and sees it is at 1:30. "Not too bad", he thought
Guy#2 sees his at 7:30 and says, "yeah, I was single for a long time, whatever!".
Guy#3 can't find his so he asks God where his clock is. God replies, "Your clock is in my office, I use it as a fan".
I think too many fans only think of the Bo era when it comes to Michigan Tradition. We have traditions that go further back and if we wore Maize jerseys in the past, that's all the more reason to bring 'em back. Even if only used sparingly.
As I remember, the Free Press or Det News had a quote of his near the front page when he left MSU. I don't remember it verbatim but it was something along the lines of, "In the state of Michigan, U of M will always be #1 in college football". He was tired of playing second fiddle so he bounced out of the state.
Even Nick Saban knew he couldn't bring MSU to UofM's level. I hate the guy, but his track record as a coach is as good as it gets.
I get the same impression from watching the interviews and press conferences involving the coaches. It seems like everytime someone asks a question about Tate, RR always includes soemthing about Denard.
We knew a while ago (2 years?) the Big House renevation would be completed for the beginning of the 2010 season. They waited until now to find an opponent. Why didn't we look into this sooner?
Sloppy play by the AD. Maybe RichRod and/or Alums were not calling for it until recently, but that's still no excuse.
I'm OK with the coaches putting a lot of - and maybe nearing too much - pressure on the QBs. This is Michigan and fan's expectations of the position are enough to make the QB feel like shit after a solid performance. Getting it from the coaches earlier can only toughen them up.
However, that pressure should never hit the public media. I bet Carr put a lot of pressure on them too, but he was a very good P.R. guy and his coaches would always have the QBs back in public.
You ever catch the part in Entourage when Ari Gold says he got his JDMA( i think?) from Michigan and then Eric says, "oh yeah, Michigan, they have a good football team!"
In Sopranos there is a part when Carmela's cousin, who went to Michigan, asks Tony a question and Tony goes, "University of Michigan, you figure it out!".
He has success in both college and the NFL as a D-Coordinator. He also runs a defensive scheme very similar to what's commonly used in the NFL. That has got to look good to recruits.
He may not be the sweet talking southerner who will go to the recruits house and woo his mother. We have other guys for that.
