I was going to say the same thing. If Michigan takes on Wisconsin in the finale, someone's walking out with a 2-1 record vs the other, which has to be more important this late in the game.
I agree with pretty much everything you wrote. The disagreement I have is with the coaches owing the fans an explanation. Fans invest time, money, and emotions into this team. To say that the coaches do not need to explain themselves is insulting to fans.
To explain: Borges likely does not read the commentators on this blog. Therefore, it's reasonable that Heiko liaisons the opinions written here to the coaches, heavy-handed or otherwise. Heiko is our connection and best opportunity to sway Borges' gameplan.
Both fans and coaches have the same goal: winning. If a majority of the intelligent football fans here think Borges should try something, it should be communicated to him. If Borges disagrees, he does owe some viable explanation. The fans support his career. He should at least return some favor.
If Borges doesn't care about defending his actions to the fans, why should the fans support him and this team?
Really, a great write-up, Uncle Fred.
I've been to Professor Thom's in NYC and Duffy's in Chicago and greatly enjoyed the atmosphere. You think there'd be a demand for a Michigan bar around Detroit. Every sports bar will show the game, but none really commit to the experience, if you know what I mean.
Ohio will most likely take down Illinois tomorrow considering they're at home and still have something to play for, even though the Illini are always a wildcard.
That said, if Ohio does take down Illinois, the 8/9 game will be Illinois vs Minnesota. That'll quite the battle with both teams fighting for tourney seeding. Indiana will take on the winner and both have already defeated the Hoosiers this year.
Put nameplates on the front and back. Get rid of the Penn State in the front and put the kid's name there instead. That'll help their case that it's all about the students now.
What happens if we win out and State only loses to Ohio? The top 3 teams would each have a 14-4 conference record, each splitting against each other. What's the tiebreaker? Do we get a share of the championship?
It's very possible they will. Illinois has fallen apart, Purdue has lost two important contributors, and Minnesota hasn't done anything. Northwestern could reap the rewards of just hanging around in the best conference.

Michigan has a winning record in a strong conference. Plus no bad loses. Simply put: they're in.

Big blue is going down.

Notre Dame may not go undefeated but Notre Dame will absolutely still go undefeated.
I further appreciate MGoBlog's insight and self-skepticism.

Any good places to watch in Metro Detroit? You know, besides Ann Arbor and the Big House.

Good for them, good for him. I hope they can start something special there a la Butler.
Wow Minny is bad at executing. They should've won this game. Shame.

I can't wait to see all these guys in the winged helmet. Hello: Rose Bowls.
If we can start hitting just a couple more of our 3s, which we should considering the slumps our shooters are in, we can beat anyone.
Really solid defense tonight. Nice to see them come out strong since halftime vs Arkansas.
I'm completely fine with Hummel being purdue's "scorer" with 7/half.
Woah over the back! How did the baseline ref not blow his whistle?
We gotta start pushing it on offense. Time's ticking.
Add Arkansas to the list of schools that hate Novak's intensity.
Strong D, keep it up! Force em to make a mistake.
Nobody else is stepping up. It's gotta go through Trey.
They're respecting Trey's speed. He's gotta lead this team.
Keep moving the ball and chip away at this lead. Luck has to turn.
I'm surprised that was the first timeout we took. You'd think Beilein would want to slow it down.
Let's switch baskets.
Timmy and trey have to take over, keep driving.
Absolutely nothing is going our way.
There it is. Good 3 by novak thanks to good ball movement.
We don't look comfortable... yet.
Spartan Killer is nice, but that could be anyone on the roster.
I don't know how it happened, but it happened.
John B is so smooth. He'll get this team coming out in good shape.
Athletically, it's a shame he didn't stay committed to Indiana. He could have really helped them find their way out of the football gutter.
All around. Unc is down. So is ksu, and Marquette. And hopefully state.
I'm surprised we managed to put up 50 today. Nothing looked good. Hopefully this fires up the team.
