Teske unfortunately won't be here until 2016. Currently, we have no freshmen coming in next year.

Webb's reasoning is basically like this: if Brandon is fired, there simply won't be enough time to hire a new AD and then have the AD lock up a new coach. Schlissel is likely to use a search firm for the AD and no matter who they choose, the vetting process takes a while. After the new guy is picked, he isn't going to just jump ship and immediately come to UM. In Webb's opinion, the new AD probably won't actually occupy the new job until mid-January.
If that's the case, the odds are strongly in favor that Hoke will get another year because the new AD will want to make his own assessment (unless the record is so bad that it's a fait accompli).
On the other hand, if Brandon stays then that means he fought to keep his job and he'll probably jettison Hoke in favor of a homerun hire.
Please keep in mind Webb specifically said it's possible to get rid of both. He just thinks it's unlikely.

The biggest development this week isn't even discussed. When you click on the Hudl page for Roseboro, you can also click on the highlights for a guy named Zoauntarious Brunt. Apparently class of 2014, which means UM passed up a guy who would have given us the definitive lead for Best Names In College Football.

At first blush, it seems to mean the players are gonna get a pretty small amount of money (cost of attendance + $5,000 per year) compared to what they are bringing in for the schools/NCAA/networks. It also seems to mean that the judge feels these students are incapable of managing that $5,000 per year on their own until they graduate.

And that in no way addresses the fact that he is labeled as a sex offender. When a rudimentary google search yields your name as a person found to have committed sexual misconduct, you are labeled as a sex offender. To say otherwise is naive at best and intellectually dishonest at worst.

This has nothing to do with assumption of risk. This is an actuality.

They are absolutely labeled as sex offenders. You think Brendan Gibbons isn't labeled as a sex offender just because he isn't on a state registration list? He will be called a rapist for the rest of his life, as will any person like the student from Duke who is forced to sue if he/she is wrongfully found to have committed "sexual misconduct". Once you have to sue, your name is public for any employer or google search to find.
I've put plenty of people on the sex offender registry in California. I'm perfectly aware of what it is. I'm also not naive enough to believe that once a school makes a finding like this and you have to sue to get it corrected that it won't follow you for years.

|39 weeks 2 days ago||Your position holds water so||
Your position holds water so long as you are willing to be publicly labeled as a sex offender when you did not commit any offense. Are you? Are you willing to have your father/brother/son carry that label unjustly? It's easy to take that position when you are not the one asked to bear the burden.
|39 weeks 2 days ago||That is absolutely not what||
That is absolutely not what you were referencing when you said "I'm guessing not." You were referring to your sarcastic hypothetical of women setting up men for unwanted sex, i.e. rape. And you were sarcastic because you were dismissing it as a possibility, by implication. It can and does happen. It is not a mere theoretical possibility.

I don't get it. He's singing under an overpass but there's no Dr. Pepper, no party and no Pitbull. Everyone knows that when you sing under a freeway, parties break out and Pitbull shows up. It's science.

This has been my question about the whole union debate from the beginning. I don't know anything about tax law but I figure someone on the board would know. Do the players at Northwestern, since they are now deemed employees, have to pay taxes for the benefits they have received?

Personal take from an admitted pessimist is that Rust did not find his happiness. He's a prisoner who was finally released only to have the warden slam the gate shut when he was one step away from getting out and then being thrown back in his cell.
I can see where he would possibly have some hope at this point, realizing that when he does finally die there will be happiness waiting for him. But I don't think he's happy in any way. Hell, that's the only time all season he cried, if I remember correctly. So maybe he can look forward to some peace when he dies. But as Marty pointed out, maybe there's nothing that can kill Rust Cohle.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I honestly don't think that makes one bit of difference in terms of what the feds are looking at. This isn't going to be a question of what the ultimate findings of the universities were in each respective case. It's a question of whether the universities even got to the point of trying to make the findings.
In other words, UM can say to feds, "You want to know if we are performing the mandated investigations on complaints of sexual misconduct and then conducting hearings based on the mandated lower standard of proof? Yes, we are. As proof, we kicked out Brendan Gibbons using our investigation and new hearing." UM might still have problems about whether they started the investigation quickly enough. But there is no question that the investigation was done and hearings were conducted.
Can MSU say the same? I have no idea. We'll all find out soon enough.
