I'm guessing no one will ask you to do the obituary.

I think it's the result of growing up watching the Lions be bad, and Michigan be good.  I love College football, and rarely watch the NFL.

Here, in Texas, there seems to be more football fans, who consume high school, college, and NFL mediums with equal vigor.

Maybe I would like the NFL if I grew up watching Barry Sanders?

Thanks! I'm planning on smoking this and a Brisket for Thanksgiving, unless you post something I can't resist trying around that time.

So what you're saying is the

So what you're saying is the average college freshman is too immature to make a life decision?  Then why do we let them go to college at 18?  Why do we push college on them knowing they are not taking the financial burdens they will accumalate into consideration.  How about picking a school, or a major?  Why let them even have the choice if they are not "old' enough to make an educated decision.

This entire way of thinking is naive.  I'm not thinking of the 1500 calories I consume every time I try an MGOBBQ recipe.  But, I sure as hell know eating 1500 calories every meal will make me a fat ass.

Joining the Military out of high school is one of the best deals a young man or women can get.  Immidiate free helath insurance for you and your family.  Life insurance policy, mine was $600,000.  Free tuition, room and board.  A chance to actually learn a skill.  And the honor of serving America.

Don't whine to me about PTSD.  Every military member is schooled on it, and made very aware of it.  Not to mention, by serving in theatre you only icrease your likely hood of getting PTSD by about 3%.  From 8% for the general public to 11%.

Ha, it just sounded legalese.

Ha, it just sounded legalese.  I actually agree with you, it was just snark!

I completely disagree with

I completely disagree with this (not the brain development part).  So, at what age should people be held accountable for their actions and decisions?  Your saying "kids", aka grown ass men and women, are all duped into joining the military?

Pairings for

Pairings for Semifinals.

  1. The team ranked No. 1 by the selection committee will play team No. 4 in the semifinals. Team No. 2 will meet team No. 3.
  2. When assigning teams to sites, the committee will place the top two seeds at the most advantageous sites, weighing criteria such as convenience of travel for its fans, home-crowd advantage or disadvantage and general familiarity with the host city and its stadium. Preference will go to the No. 1 seed.

I moved to Texas 2 years ago.  I went to an apple orchard every year to buy unpasuterized cider when I lived in Michigan.  It was awesome, and I miss it very much.  I bought some "cider" from Sams Club last week and it was rank, spoiled in the Southern heat...

So, Yes.

I'll leave the debate with this.

''It's a crapshoot,'' ESPN analyst Lee Corso said. ``No one knows how guys are going to develop over a period of time. But it sells newspapers. It sells Internet websites.''

Seriosly though, these types of discussions are why I joined the blog.  Thanks for entertaining me without asking me if I like the new maize color at half court of Crisler!

I see recruiting rankings

I see recruiting rankings like Preseason Team rankings.  You can't tell till the rubber meets the road.  I much more enjoy reading the analysis of players (unfortunatly, usually on rankings websites) and the recruiting process than to see if a website has given them 4 out of 5 beans.

MgoBlogers will fret over star rankings all day for football, but apologize for basketball recruiting because of Belien's ability to see past the stars.

The exact same argument was made for MSU when they were "coaching up" 2 and 3 star recruits into studs.

Edit: https://n.rivals.com/news/recruiting-rankings-why-they-matter-1

A recruit ranking website explaining why their rankings matter.

Around 75% of 5 stars who do

Around 75% of 5 stars who do get drafted aren't in the NFL after 2 years.  Obviously there are more 4, 3, and 2 stars drafted due to the sheer number of them.  But, to catagorically say 5 star recruits will make an impact as a freshman and have the "potential" for the NFL isn't exactly a stretch.

The rankings system might matter for team success, but they almost mean nothing to the individual.

Last years draft had only 15

Last years draft had only 15  4 and 5 star recruits go in the first round out of 32...

Ranking websites tell you they are important and all knowing because they wouldn't exist if you thought they weren't.

When 5 star recruits are

When 5 star recruits are defined as 3 and out players with early entry in to the NFL, a succes rate of under 50% seems, well unsuccesful.

I hate the line of thought

I hate the line of thought that the final 2 minutes are more important than the rest of the game.  If it is "important" enough to review at the end of the game, it's important enough at the beginning.  Football had some kind of convoluted logic like this as well at one point.

All the websites are fine.

All the websites are fine.  How many 5 star recruits have bombed over the years?  And, who is Jordan Kovacs?  I try to not get invested in them.

I worked at a jail a while

I worked at a jail a while back. We had around 30 CSC inmates at a time.  I would say that 90 percent of them plead down from CSC1 or CSC2 to CSC3.  Spent about 2-4 years or so locked up with mandantory counseling.  If they completed their counseling, they would be released on parole.  For the couple of years I worked there, I saw 6 return to lock up for parole violation, ostensibly for more CSC crimes.  I'm sure MGOLawyers can speak to this better than I can, but it is unlikely he'll get what he deserves.

So, an Idol falls?  Happens

So, an Idol falls?  Happens every day, just ask Commissioner Goodel.  If he falls in a spectaculartly disgusting and reprehensible way, and refuses to even acknowledge it, let alone ask for forgiveness or understanding, then I would think the fanbase would be just as disgusted and unforgiving towards Bo, as they are towards Joe.

I can think of at least 3 professional athletes who have litterally killed people, beat the shit out of women, or whatever, asked for forgiveness (from their fans), and took responsibilty for what they did.  And the fans love them for it.

Its exactly like the steroid scandal in baseball.  Just fess up, and you'll be better off.

Seems like gofundme is becoming a weekly occurance.  I get people need help, and this community has helped a lot of people.  But this is literally begging in the digital age, for cash, from some one you can't even see.  I guess I'm more worried about scammers and what a successful scam would do to this Blog.

A quick look at the history

A quick look at the history of this board will show you this will not go over too well... But I laughed, tragically.

"We are proud of... the thousands of students who were impacted by him."  Hmmm, they should be ashamed.

I met my first JoPa apologist last weekend.  He was determined that he didn't do anything wrong because JoPa reported "something" to the athleteic department.  Then he justified it all because JoPa gave the school an identity, and put them on the map as a Blue Blood program.

I asked him how he felt about the identitiy he left the program in!

I enjoy the B1G winning the

I enjoy the B1G winning the ACC challenge even if our top 2 lose to their top 2.  I also love when B1G teams beat SEC teams, a la Wisconsin LSU.  I personally hate the whole SEC and all their cheating and whining, and ESPN hot takes, way more than I like to see Michigan play Notre Dame every year.

But my experience is more reactionary to the past 10 years than the historical ND UM game.  I would rather keep ND as an every other year opener, and schedule any SEC opponent on off years.

Frankly the ND game is good for football, but I would argue scheduling an SEC team every other year would be better for the conference, assuming we win more than we lose.
