|1 day 20 hours ago||countess?||
im fairly confident that right now he is no lower than the second best player on the whole team.
|2 days 20 hours ago||what? lol||
you could tell all that from its 4 foot flight path?
|2 days 20 hours ago||dont understand why they appealed||
was it just to show him that they were doing their due diligence to get the waiver?
|4 days 14 hours ago||damn...missed that||
I think my brain couldnt compute that so it just disregarded it
|4 days 14 hours ago||LOL||
the two guys you named as true standouts are the 2 guys that did the least in the NFL out of that whole group.
|4 days 14 hours ago||cmon||
Fargas's leg wasnt the reason A-Train went for 1700 yards his sr year and won Off. ROY in the NFL.
|4 days 17 hours ago||uh||
Anthony Thomas and Chris Perry were definitely true standouts.
|4 days 17 hours ago||lol||
youre really moving the goalposts. you say 15 receptions makes him inexperienced, yet you assert he was behind 2 guys that had fewer receptions than Chesson combined. which in addition to being completely opposite your point at first, is in fact a downright lie.
|4 days 19 hours ago||its not that surprising||
young players who arent put in a position to succeed are going to give you that. in 2011, UM returned their entire line after rushing for 3000 yds at 5.58 ypc in 2010, and lost 0.4 off that in 2011, another 0.4 in 2012, and then 1.5 off that in 2013. the last offensive staff wasnt spectacular with talent and experience on the inside, why would it have been good with talent and youth on the inside?
|4 days 19 hours ago||huh?||
Henne was injured in the second game of the season. if DG gets injured in game 2, do you really think Morris riding pine for game 1 is going to have that much of an effect? all these terrible comparisons are not sound arguments for giving Morris worthless 4th qtr snaps.
|4 days 19 hours ago||thats a bad metric||
Chesson played important snaps in every game, and a 3rd receiver with a secure spot is basically a starter in modern football. the fact that he was less productive than Gallon and Funchess doesnt make him inexperienced. especially since he has shown such an affinity for the less glamorous parts of the position.
|4 days 19 hours ago||terrible comparison||
for one thing you are comparing Bellomy's 1st year in the program, to his 3rd. for another, DG wasnt even practicing at QB. yet he was still able to start, and win, the next 3 weeks. Shane Morris has been practicing with the QBs for 17 consecutive months, and will continue to do so in the future. him *not* playing mop up snaps, yet still being prepared if Devin goes down in the biggest divisional game of the year, are simultaneously possible.
|4 days 20 hours ago||he should have that anyways||
And he can still prepare for games the same way. In my mind, if he isnt needed, just dont put him into the game. Bellomy is in his 3rd year of the program, and healthy. I just dont see mop up duty as something that will help him improve so much as to negate the value of an extra year. Telling him he isnt going to close out blowups isnt the same thing as not preparing him for an injury to DG. If they need him, he's there. If not, they could just not put him in. It shouldnt affect his preparation either way.
|4 days 20 hours ago||and?||
11 guys had more than 20 TFL last year. you really think teams didnt base their whole offense around avoiding Kyle Van Noy when they played BYU? Every guy thats capable of doing that in the backfield gets planned around. "Running directly at Brandon Graham" wasnt exactly a common strategy vs Michigan, but he still made plays. All the great edge guys do. Ryan seems like one of them to me *shrug*
|4 days 21 hours ago||afoot? lol||
you are aware that implies someone other than you has the same thought, yes?
|4 days 21 hours ago||could very well be true.||
Its just harder to make his brand of big plays in more constrained space. seems like if they were going to base their entire defense around him, he would fit better in a Shawn Crable kind of way to get him behind the LOS. I have no doubt he will excel in the middle, but 25+ TFL from the outside actually seems reasonable. in the middle, the guys up front will need to keep him (or anyone else) moderately clean to maximize his havoc level.
|4 days 21 hours ago||for what?||
what is gained by using a year of eligibility for extended mop up duty? like when Henne went from 3rd to 1st after Gutierrez went down, Morris should be either starting or redshirting. if they need a starter, its obviously him > Bellomy...but otherwise, no.
|4 days 21 hours ago||Ryan at MLB||
I never really understood the idea behind that, and ive also never really believed that the coaches are committed to him on the inside. Im probably wrong, but I can see them sometimes lifting an end for Ryan, sliding Morgan over, and putting Bolden at WLB. LB and CB are easily the strongest groups on the whole team IMO, and Mattison needs to get creative to get as many of them on the field as they can.
|4 days 22 hours ago||I agree||
this seems like a depth chart team protocol thing. full practice x number of times to be listed 1st or something.
|4 days 22 hours ago||cmon||
|4 days 22 hours ago||Chesson counts imo||
he played enough last year to qualify as experienced, I think
|4 days 22 hours ago||Godin got a fair bit of praise||
Godin has gotten a fair bit of praise since spring.
|6 days 18 hours ago||are blowout snaps vs ASU...||
...significant? Short of a major injury, there is is no reason to play Morris. If Gardner has to miss a full game or more, then I would understand. But Bellomy can clean up blowouts or little dings.
|1 week 2 days ago||as much fun as it was in AA||
the year before was an aerial precision Smart-Dong strike. I was watching at a bar in Annapolis after GT beat Navy by 70. went out to feed the meter and missed consecutive UW non-offensive TDs.
|1 week 4 days ago||I always liked that||
i always thought numbers in the 90s were cool for tight ends. I wanted to wear one in hs but at the time we only had up to 89
|1 week 4 days ago||id like to see him||
in BJ Askew's old single-back role. or maybe the way TB used to line up Alstott in their single-back sets. with Hayes or Norfleet as his Warrick Dunn, there is lots of versatility there. especially since there hasn't been much progress on finding a primary ball carrier, as mentioned above.
|1 week 4 days ago||I agree re: the receivers||
I think they can be be a really special group. thats mostly why I think that re: downfield passing. the line may not be able to cover a 7 step drop, but a 5 step drop should be enough time for these guys to get separation 10+ yards downfield. and guys like Canteen and Norfleet (and i keep beating this drum but i really think Shallman can help here) underneath will definitely help that cause.
|1 week 4 days ago||wonder if plays were being tipped||
not by alignment but by coach design. I realize this may not be totally relevant but my h.s. coaches (CC) used to do this all the time to put stress on us. the offense would run a play and the coaches would direct the 2nd team defense to exactly where it was going.
|1 week 4 days ago||also, thumbs up for CC alums||
Shallman is going to be a legit weapon sooner than later, and im not surprised Godin is in the mix to start at 3T
|1 week 4 days ago||so LG is the issue yes?||
Braden, Kalis, Miller, and Magnuson are 4 of the 5 that I would have hoped to win spots. I think Cole's starting has more to do beating out Bosch and other LG's since the coaches seem comfortable with Magnuson at either spot on the left. normally it would be exciting for a true FR to come in and take a spot from a "VHT" 3rd year player, but the collective performance suggests that it isnt this time.
