|1 week 1 day ago||This is true.||
In the 1980's and prior, sit-down pizza restaurants were huge, and that was (and still is) Pizza Hut's main business. Those red-roofed buildings are all for dining in. Little Caesars had a similar concept with family fun centers in the 1980's and 1990's.
By taking pizza out of the restaurant, Domino's was able to sell a lot of pizza without a lot of unnecessary overhead costs.

No one but hockey players watched that movie. Good movie, though.
Closest I've come is the Rideau Canal in Ottawa. Fun experience, but a little touristy.

I'll be decorating a Christmas tree, wrapping gifts, and filling out cards to...
- Red Wings/New Jersey, tonight at 7:30
- Red Wings/Florida, Saturday at 7
- Toronto/Ottawa, Saturday on HNIC at 7, followed by Calgary/Edmonton
- College football championship games that will cause existential pain through flashbacks to this season, causing me to make tea and hope for snow.
|2 weeks 1 hour ago||The new barriers will be||
The new barriers will be football-only, I'd assume. The conference divisions will create rough "conferences" for football within your own division, with the larger conference umbrella there for other sports and finances.
Redoing all of this stuff really isn't as big of a job as you might think. The NCAA, when you get down to it, really doesn't do all that much.
Rulebooks and compliance documents largely stay the same, except for those big changes people are hoping for and stripping out the fluff.
National championship tournaments are easy to run, with current procedures for booking facilities, referees, et cetera. If Michigan/MSU can book neutral site games at the Joe, and the Big Ten can book the Xcel Energy Center for a conference tournament, College Super Conference can do the same thing.
Scheduling is already done on a conference and school basis anyway.
Television rights and large contracts are done on a conference basis, and any NCAA-controlled contracts can simply be negotiated or renegotiated with the conference broadcasting partners.
It could be done in a summer if people solely focused on it.
|2 weeks 1 hour ago||This is what the conference||
This is what the conference championships will try to fix. Sure, you lost your playoff game, but you're the Big Ten champion! Or, Big Ten division champion!
|2 weeks 1 hour ago||Money.||
The centralizing influence is always money. If conferences/schools can make more money by breaking off than they can in the NCAA's system, they will break off as soon as they can.
|2 weeks 2 hours ago||Essentially, yes.||
What was traditionally your conference is now your division. Winning your division puts you in an effective bowl game against the other conference division winner, with that champion advancing.
Unfortunately, this makes the Big Ten East into its own separate conference, relegating four traditional Big Ten powers with three (or more) outsiders.
|2 weeks 2 hours ago||The future!||
The future of college football will be four mega-conferences, with the conference champions as the four playoff teams. Conference championship games will essentially be play-in games of their own.
I've heard this scenario kicked around for years. A big shakeup is coming to college sports, beyond simply the four-team playoff.
If this came to pass, I think the conference championship games will become a much bigger deal. Winning your division and playing in these games will be a benchmark of success, with records in the playoff stratifying those successful teams even further.
|2 weeks 2 hours ago||Generally a lurker, but...||
There's been a lot of things going on with Michigan Athletics to cause angst this year, outside of the regular drama of trolling morons. Between the Akron game and the span of time from the Penn State game to present, various recruiting stories, the discontent over the AD's office, not to mention how the hockey and basketball seasons ended...there have been a lot of things to overreact to.
Having downvoting go away during what was unfortunately an incredibly volatile football season led to a lot of conflict. While the right steps will be taken to correct that, winning might help solve everything.
Seriously, I can't think of a more chaotic and draining season. Even the Rich Rod years were sustained, calloused pain. This was something newly frustrating every week, and it showed on here.

|2 weeks 5 days ago||Oh man.||
Oh man. The summer of 2007. July 2007, specifically. Really, the days just before we'd all degenerate into where we are today.
For those of you not clicking on that post, some highlights from back then:
- Les Milesis not a candidate for the Michigan job, because his language and cretinous ways would instantly make him a pariah at Michigan.
"It's a place where the next coach will not only need top-tier football coaching and recruiting skills, but a background that shows he can navigate an elite academic institution. It's also a place where hundreds of former players are actively involved with supporting the program. Those players, and Carr, will have a voice at the table."
- Recruiting profiles of Toney Clemons! Darryl Stonum! Sam McGuffie seems like he's committing to Michigan soon. Michael Shaw might commit too, but Penn State wants him.
- On the other hand, basketball recruit Draymond Green is going to Michigan State.
Oh, what and where we were back then.

|5 weeks 5 days ago||I've gotten tickets outside||
I've gotten tickets outside the stadium for below the stated face value for every Michigan game since 2007, including both Under The Lights games and the 2011 game against Ohio State.
I'm not getting a $95 ticket for $15, but a $105 ticket for $80 right before UTL2 isn't bad either.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||It's the whole equation.||
Ragequitting season tickets after bad playcalling blew a winnable game is a dumb idea in a bubble, but all of this goes back to a larger problem.
I got a ticket for today's game for $15 outside of the stadium before gametime. For Michigan-Nebraska. Throw out the records, throw out the circumstances. It's Michigan-Nebraska, and I'm getting a ticket for 12% of face value ($95).
Considering that there is another donation on top of the tickets, and considering that the 2014 home schedule is terrible, why would I want to buy season tickets for hugely infalted prices according to the market?

|14 weeks 4 days ago||Well then.||
This will ultimately go nowhere, for two reasons.
- It looks like almost everything occurred from 2001 to 2007, outside of the NCAA's statute of limitations.
- According to the CBS Sports article, this investigation does not affect any current players and coaches.
This might sell some magazines, but I don't think it will lead to any major sanctions.

If FS1 has a positive attitude about things, they'll go very far.
Part of ESPN's underlying problem is their reliance on stupidly contrarian opinion by unlikable people. I don't know who actually wants to watch that kind of content, and apparently the rest of the country agrees.
