I once went to a wedding in Colorado where I tried to get a Michigan game on BTN turned on at the bar, someone mentioned that it pissed off the wedding photographer.

The overarching point here is that college hockey tournament attendance does not matter.
What matters are conference execs having the opportunity to play big shot in the city hosting the tournament, like every other bowl game and conference tournament. They want "exclusive" events that they can go to, big name tags with VIP printed on the lanyard, and want to stride around in suits while seeming important. They want to send out lots of press releases about how the tournament is in town, hopefully with some fancy lamppost banners that the city tourism board paid for, vanity promotions. That's the whole point.
If you have it on campus, it's all the fun for the fans, but none of the fun for the incompetent executives.

- There's a lot of people that never really left (like Falk and Madej) who would be welcomed back as soon as possible. That ASAP means whenever those that replaced them leave, or whenever they can find the appropriate fit for them.
- Retirement and "retirement" are two different things, as seen today. If they "retired", I'm sure they'd be open to coming back under the old/new Michigan of Hackett/Manuel.

Beckmann's argument went beyond the University defending that garbage. Beckmann was trying to claim that he was being politically persecuted, because PC liberals are trying to condemn him for his wise and true thoughts. Specifically, Beckmann was threatening Dave Brandon, since Brandon was (and is?) a major Republican donor in the state, claiming that he would run down Brandon in his social circles for not being a true conservative and defending him.
It also didn't help that the University and the athletic department tuned into his radio show, and heard rhetoric that was far more offensive than this every time they listened in.
Once Michigan got that reply, it went from Beckmann needing to stop this to Beckmann's gone and let's find a replacement.

Let's just say that Frank...wouldn't want to work with people like Webber. If you know what I mean.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||From what I can tell, and||
From what I can tell, and from what I'd expect, Falk will come back into his old position and slowly ease off his responsibilities until he is Equipment Manager Emeritus or something like that.
At the end of the day, Falk will be brought back so he can do what he loves and leave entirely on his own terms whenever that day comes.

It's never going to happen, and that can't be emphasized enough.
There's a better chance of Chris Webber calling PBP for Michigan football than there is Frank Beckmann.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||Beckmann is not coming back,||
Beckmann is not coming back, now or ever.
His political statements grew increasingly unbecoming of Michigan, even against Michigan in some ways, and he is still bitter about Michigan not keeping him on and endorsing his political views.
Contrast that with Falk and Madej, who left in name only and were never really 'gone' for good.

A longtime (decades-long) friend of Jon's and one of the most connected people around Michigan athletics. He heard from Jon that he's back.
Falk being forced out has been an open secret for years, to the point that the WTKA shows have basically said it is what it is.

If I'm Tom Brady, who looks for every possible angle on how to win, I'm reading what an old friend has to say on the issue. When you watch gamefilm (or anything) for so long, you tend to not absorb as much with each viewing as someone new to the situation.
Even if the Beav comes up with one or two points per year that no one else noticed, that's still one or two points that could be the deciding factor in a game.

Jemele Hill got fired from the Detroit Free Press in 2005.
Think of how amazing that is, considering all the journalistic malpractice that we've seen over there, and yet it was only Jemele who actually got fired.
