When I see young athletes, I don't restrict activity for back pain, be it muscle or disc herniations (as long as there isn't weakness in a dermatomal pattern). I DO restrict activity for back pain from an active pars defect, specifically out of sports for 6 weeks, wearing a back brace, otherwise, you can develop instability at that spinal segment that could result in a fusion. Given that Mitch has essentially been held from practice for quite some time, I am inferring that he does not have a simple muscle strain, discogenic pain, but rather something more serious where his docs are sitting him. :/
|6 weeks 3 days ago||Would guess because you're||
Would guess because you're not 6'10", and not repetitively extending your lumbar spine backwards while trying to box out or post up, and if you continue to let this go untreated, it can result in spinal instability, weakening of the disc annulus, subsequent disc herniation and/or spondylolisthesis.

I'm putting my money on a pars defect. If it were a disc with a radiculopathy, Mitch would have already had surgery. Only thing that makes sense.
|6 weeks 3 days ago||I could make a couple||
I could make a couple educated guesses based on Mitch's symptoms. I know how I would go about treating a patient with his age, activities if he told me he couldn't participate in sport due to his symptoms. However, without knowing Mitch's exat symptoms (all back pain, pain going down the leg, what aggravates his back pain on exam, any weakness in the legs) it would just be idle speculation. Safe to say that this isn't a simple muscle strain, though, given that it would have healed given the timeline.

Would guess it's a modified hip-knee-ankle-foot sling, using shoulder flexion to extension to flex Brock's hip, and then Brock circumducts/swings his hip around to extend the knee. Then he uses spasticity/recurvatum to maintain weight on that leg while planting.
Kudos to Brock; metabolic equivalent of walking 4 miles at least.

UConn is redundant from a footprint standpoint.
As you stated above, UConn isn't an AAU school.
Also, they are pretty far down the federal research funding list; 81st. Nebraska is the lowest @ 100-something. UConn MAY be above Indiana, but not sure how the IU-PU mix in Indianapolis is counted. Every other B1G school has more fed research dollars than UConn. UMich tops the list at #3
If we goto 16 school megaconferences, I think somehow peeling off some of the ACC schools (UVa or UNC) would be ideal..

UFR-defense will be verah interesting, in that from my hazy, martini & beer-soaked memories of the game, the D-line was generating little to no pressure and there was a surprising amount of yardage for ND rbs.
Howeva, while trolling for schadenfreude, a couple of Domer bloggers mention how the Michigan LBs were sitting a couple yards deeper off the LOS to try to keep crossing routes in front of them and to force Rees to squeeze balls in a 2-deep zone, thus sacrificing some run support.
Would guess, with JMFR back, our ability to generate a rush with 4 will be better, and hopefully, the DT in our nickle will be able to clog up the middle more. Don't think you will see our LBs as deep, either, or have someone like Ross 'spy' Miller.

Banks drool at the thought of lending money to physicians (or future physicians). We're a relatively low risk of default, and the thought is we will continue to do business with them in the future. There IS a high-end market for stuff from libraries; thus, most of the historical/rare books in the UM collection are under lock and key at the Hatcher Library. And from one can see with the Manzel/Ohio tatgate scandals, there IS a market for sports memorabilia that you don't see for most books. Anyone want to guess how much you can get for Taylor's practice jersey? Or an authentic Michigan football helmet?
I also didn't realize that my diplomas from Michigan entitled me to stadium tours. Hell, back in my day, there WEREN'T stadium tours, and thus my willingness to pay $10 for the privalege. My wife and a friend of hers from residency, neither of whom are big football fans, are willing to pay $10 each as well because this is something that has not been available to us.
|17 weeks 2 days ago||1) Weren't the stadium tours||
1) Weren't the stadium tours free on the day of the Spring game, only? A quick google search reveals links from 2009 where you can book a tour through the Alumni Association for $35 bucks a pop...
These tours, 5 times a day, will need an employee as a guide, as well as I'm sure at least a few security folk so nutjobs don't run off with stuff from the locker room, field, etc. They need to cover costs
2) Nonprofit does not mean you can't generate positive revenue to churn back into your facilities. The Medical Center is a nonprofit, and positive operating revenue is partly given as a bonus to all UMH employees besides the residents (who have their own contract) and capital improvements (new Mott, Cardiovascular building, etc. etc.).
3) Back in my day, tuition, room and board for a semester was $6K. Now it's $16K. Times change, costs go up. Yeah, Brandon seems to be nickel and diming things. At the same time, the AD is now significantly positive in it's cashflow, and that has translated into totally revamping the morbid confines of Crisler, and improved football practice facility, academic facilities for the athletes, etc. etc.
|17 weeks 2 days ago||Um...why should it be free? I||
Um...why should it be free?
I would understand the argument if the AD received public money from the State of Michigan, but since it is a self-sufficient program, why would they open this up for free when they can get people like me $10 a pop to tour the stadium? (insert Dave Brandon increasing revenue rabble rabble here)
I WOULD be a proponent of letting kids under 10 on the tour for free to build the fan/student base for the future....

If too much noise bothers your child, Mongolian may not be the most optimal place because of the clatter from the spatulas and the yelling/chanting/singing of the grill staff. Can get pretty loud in there, too. If weather is nice, obviously Dominick's would be my destination. If it were up to my wife, it would be Pizza House. The Kerrytown restaurants may also be pretty chill.
Unless things have changed (granted, it's been like 5 years since I've been at a game) the band was in section 40-42? Kitty corner to the student section. If you want best seats for your child to interact with players away from the band, section 21-23 or section 1 near the tunnel maybe your best bet.

Sweetwaters, Majestic, Traffic Jam & Snug, Greekblock, Slows and Nemos in Corktown...Roma Cafe is pretty good in Eastern Market. That's pretty much all I can think of off the top of my head. My fam says Roast is pretty good, but again, opened after I left.
I liked Seldom Blues before it shut down, Coach Insignia is probably the fanciest place in downtown left...Opus One was great before they became a high-end catering place.
|17 weeks 6 days ago||Lol. I've eaten at just||
Lol. I've eaten at just about every good restaurant in both cities. Can you say the same? The best restaurant in Michigan is the Lark, which is in West Bloomfield. Tribute gave it a run for it's money, but was in Farmington Hills.
What is the best restaurant in downtown Detroit? Michael Mina's place in the MGM, Saltwater? Decent seafood, and the lobster pot pie is great. Coach Insignia is ok; great view, but have had better steaks in numerous different places. Have not been to Roast, but have been to both Lola and Lolita in Cleveland. Slows, however, in Detroit is an institution.
My favorite in Cleveland is Crop (formerly of the Warehouse district, now moved to across the Westside Market) but Muse, Lola & Lolita are definitely better than anything in downtown Detroit, XO is around the same as Coach Insignia.
Maybe you should actually spend time in a place before shitting on it.
|17 weeks 6 days ago||Huh? Have you ever been to||
Huh? Have you ever been to Cleveland besides driving by or peeking in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
I've lived in both downtown Detroit and downtown Cleveland. Two years in fact while at Wayne State SOM, a year in the Warehouse District while a fellow at Cleveland Clinic. There is a LOT more to do in downtown Cleveland than Detroit. More and better restaurants, a lot of small festivals/fairs, and Cleveland Clinic is a medical juggernaut.
Detroit has made some strides with the Campus Martius development along Woodward; but there are still too many burned-out areas in between the stadiums, Campus Martius, Corktown, and the area near Wayne.

|18 weeks 6 days ago||Curious as to how this will||
Curious as to how this will impact Michigan's recruiting efforts.
From everything I've heard, the current Michigan staff already has great inroads into various Michigan, Ohio high school coaching staffs. Also, the current staff's recruiting philosophy of starting strong out of the gate gives them a lot of time to recruit a year ahead of the cycle (see 2015 class; 5 kids already, one a 4 star legacy, one clear 5 star WR, one 4/5 star RB).
The hire may stem the bleeding of the Northwesterns/Iowas/Purdues poaching Michigan high school kids, but I think there won't be too much of an impact in our head-head recruiting battles with Staee.

Suprised Russian River isn't on there, but then again, it has such a limited distribution that not as many people have partook. I think that's why you see Boston Brewing, New Belgium, and yeah, even Dogfish where they are ranked, distribution.
I've only had a couple of Founders (didn't really get big until after I left Michigan)...KBS, holy cow, packed a punch. I had Double Trouble out at Churchkey in DC; excellent, especially when their stock of Hopslam ran dry.

Would second the guy above who said buy a Michelin guide. Also would recommend finding Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations: Paris episode with Eric Ripert (owner of Le Bernadin in NYC and used to be part of WestEnd Bistro in DC).
Part of the fun is to throw out the guides, tho, and just wander around. I tend to overplan vacations, so I will make ONE fancy-shmancy dinner reservation per city and the rest of the time we will wander about and try to explore. Helps if you know the language, though :)

|21 weeks 2 days ago||Not necessarily profits...||
A quick summary would be: "what goes in, must come out".
"Only a club’s outgoings in transfers and employee benefits (including wages) will be counted over income from gate receipts, TV revenue, advertising, merchandising, sales of players and prize money is included in the assessment. Any money spent on infrastructure, training facilities or youth development will not be included. The legislation currently allows for eight separate punishments to be taken against clubs transgressing the rules, based in order of severity "
So it will theoretically prevent teams like PSG spending 100s of millions on Cavanni, Zlatan, etc if they have a deep-pocketed owner who gives two sh*ts about profit as long as he wins. Also, they better have a provision that team financed-debt is included in team outlays, otherwise guys like the Glazers can get financing through IPOs/etc to skirt the FFP regs.

Being a medical dork, my first thought was European Fresh Frozen Plasma...
That being said, the downfall of the Fair Play rules in it's current manifestation will allow some teams to retrench at the top. Specificaly Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Both are insanely profitable, on top of being able to field world-class teams.
And Bayern now has an absolutely insane midfield of Roos, Schweinsteiger, Javi Martinez, Mueller, and Robben, on top of adding Goetze and now Thiago Alcaterna. Adding Goetze and Thiago to a midfield that absolutely trucked Barcelona is just plain unfair...and completely legal under FFP.

I think not having a safety come into the box EVERY play, and having the MLB having to respect the threat of Funchess on a seam, in addition to Devin being a bit of a better passer will result in an improved running game.
