I was so happy to discover…

I was so happy to discover this show (several months ago) and so unhappy to discover it was canceled after 2 seasons (several weeks ago). Truly one of the most unique and entertaining shows I’ve ever watched, and I’m very sad that I won’t get to see what becomes of these characters.

Thank you Brian. Michigan…

Thank you Brian. Michigan fandom would not be the same without MGoBlog. For me and so many others, the two are so inexorably intertwined that we truly “can’t have one without the other.” I hope you’re able to take a well-deserved break after this week - I promise we’ll all forgive you guys if you mail it in for the remainder of the winter with regards to the hoops team.

So are we blaming Moore for the CJ drop? Just want to make sure I’m on the same page as everyone here

Because then it’ll go over…

Because then it’ll go over your head? There’s lots to complain about this game but their punter shanking kicks and getting good rolls isn’t one of them

There is a thread on RCMB …

There is a thread on RCMB (which I will not link to) of Spartan fans convincing each other to bet $700-$1,000 on Bama. Highly recommended.

Most of what I have seen…

Most of what I have seen here has been reasonable. Folks seem to agree that Isaiah was honestly passing along what he had heard, but that this situation sort of proves that even the “insiders” are simply not privy to every detail, especially in a situation as unpredictable and volatile as this. I haven’t seen many suggesting that Hole fabricated information for clicks. I think this is just one of the hazards of being a so-called insider - when you get it wrong, people will be upset, even if it isn’t your fault it was wrong.

Some incredible comedy gold…

Some incredible comedy gold in this thread - thank you guys for the laughs!  Especially loved the puns and the Michael Scott grilled foot jokes. To answer a couple questions:

- My wife is handling the legal stuff; we've gotten over 50 attorney recommendations that she is sifting through now.  Tough to tell if we will be able to do much, though, as the manufacturer is based overseas.  I know there are bigger brands selling these types of accessories at Home Depot/other larger retailers now, and it's possible (probable?) that products released by more reputable manufacturers are still safe for use, though I personally will not be taking that chance.

- It took a LOT of convincing, but I was able to get my brothers to attend the game by pointing out that only 1-2 people would be allowed in the hospital room anyway and that my mom and my wife would not relinquish those spots to anyone.

- For anyone scared of clicking the images - they are NOT of my foot.  I did get photos of it, but I'm not interested in making anyone here puke.  My brothers were able to calm me down by convincing me that the charred/loose skin was actually just my melted sock/shoe, which of course was not true. Many passers-by said things like "wow, you can see the bone," but it turns out third degree burns are just really white sometimes.  A resident at U of M hospital took a ton of pictures and said she is planning on writing a paper on the incident.

Appreciate all the kind words and also the jokes!  Some things are just so outrageous and ridiculous that you have to laugh at them through the pain.

MSU was the most fun during the game.  I was there, the stadium takeover was a blast, and we got to move down to the 4th or 5th row for the Orji drive at the end.

PSU was the most satisfying win after the fact, but it did not feel "fun" while it was happening.  My pulse was racing the entire time, and my 140 lb Great Dane was lying on top of me concerned (probably convinced I was about to have a heart attack 😅).

It is uncanny how similar you are to the actual Toby Flenderson character. Surely this must be a schtick?

Ok hear me out… if you…

Ok hear me out… if you squint, Nebraska might have a shot at a bowl if they pull this out:

vs. Northwestern: lean to win

vs. Purdue: tossup

@ MSU: tossup

vs. Maryland: likely loss

@ Wisconsin: loss

vs. Iowa: tossup

Beat Northwestern and go 2/3 in the tossup games and they’re bowling.

Of course as I finish typing this, Illinois marches straight down the field and scores 😅

Anything with a hand (short…

Anything with a hand (short of, like, being shattered to bits) is unlikely to keep a player out for more than 4-6 weeks.  And he should still be able to do conditioning and probably even do machine-based lower body weight lifting. As long as he can get back for PSU we're ok.

Looks like Iowa is -29 over…

Looks like Iowa is -29 over WMU… is Iowa even capable of scoring 29?

Virginia is absolutely awful…

Virginia is absolutely awful and looks every bit the 0-2 team they are. Maryland should be concerned, regardless of the outcome.

I believe this is one of…

I believe this is one of those situations where the likely game time was deduced by looking at the games whose kickoff times have already been announced and comparing those with the network coverage obligations/time slots. So while it hasn’t *officially* been announced as a night game yet, it appears extremely likely to happen. There are a few mgobloggers who are really on top of network coverage obligations who can probably confirm the specifics.

Yep. We are in the 4th…

Yep. We are in the 4th Quarter and each team has only had 6 (!!!) possessions! I’m hoping this game is the exception rather than the rule. Statistics show the average NFL game has ~11 possessions per game and the the average CFB game had ~13 per game the past few years. Can CFB get to ~12 with the clock stopping on first downs in the final 2 minutes of each half? Probably not. Reducing games by 2 full possessions per team seems like an awful lot to me, especially when reducing commercials makes so much more sense.

This is going to be one of…

This is going to be one of the most dramatic relegation battles in a long time.  There are still 9 (!!!) teams with a realistic chance of relegation and 7 teams that are either in the drop zone or are above it by 3 points or fewer. Insane!

I'd love to see this post…

You could!  Lose 3 non…

You could!  Lose 3 non-conference games.  Go 6-3 in conference, win your division, then lose the conference championship game.  A 6-7 team with a CCG loss could feasibly get a bowl bid if there aren't enough 6-6 teams to fill it out. Lose the bowl game, bam, 6-8!

Scored 45 points, 52 if you add in the awful call taking a TD off the board. In a CFP game. Wasn’t perfect but I have no complaints.

Stephenrjking’s comments are too long. It’s Mgoblog, not that vaguely autobiographical coming-of-age novel you’ve been working on.

(For real though, he’s a great poster, but I don’t have a whole lot of grievances this year so, yanno…)

Once Brian got around to…

Once Brian got around to writing the "Heuristics and Stupid Prediction" portion of the preview series, he no longer saw Nebraska as a threat.  They were listed as "Likely Win" and did not appear as one of the dumb games that Michigan could potentially drop pre-OSU.  He ended up sticking with 10-2 and said 11-1 was more likely than 9-3.

Fun fact, it actually…

Fun fact, it actually doubles as a game cabinet.  They've got Settlers of Catan, Risk, Monopoly, all the favorites.  There's also a few old DVDs on the lower shelf, a couple candles, and a pack of AA batteries.

I often wonder what it would be like to be a fan of a college football team that does not have an MGoBlog equivalent (so, like… everyone else but us). Sometimes I think we take for granted how incredibly talented and detail-oriented the staff here is. Things like UFR and Opponent Watch and FFFF (and of course, Eleven Swans) are simply unrivaled anywhere else on the sports blogosphere.

The first time out was rough…

The first time out was rough, he missed two then finally snagged the third (much to the delight of the crowd).

The next couple times he came out he was on the money. He went 5/5 one of those times.

I hear you, which is why I…

I hear you, which is why I included the bit about "or what needs to stay the same" in the OP.  For example, I think our identity as a run-first team with complex blocking schemes and the ability to run against any opponent must continue for this run to be sustainable.  Not only does it give us a tactical identity we can hang our hats on, it also allows us to be successful in garbage weather.  I absolutely cannot wait for home playoff games to be a thing in a few years, when Ole Miss or LSU or whoever has to come up here to play us in the snow in December and we run the ball 47 times.

The delay due to equipment failure seemed to bother Penix and he was not the same after the lights came back on (who among us would be?). Penix had his balls blown around in the crazy wind (who among us wouldn't?) but managed to straighten things out long enough to get the job done.

This is a post about football.
