Mandatory This should be a mandatory read for all on this site. Brian, can ya e-mail this to everyone?? Maybe this could reduce the freak-out pollution in the board. Nice, very nice!
shake 'n bake?? And these are my son's, Walker and Texas Ranger...
Uh.. OK, Tate own's shit? gotcha. BTW, i liked the older pic better, FWIW.
Holy Shit I think it is just really cheesy. And, my wife just about spit her pop out when she saw it, so, I'm gonna say it is funny...but whatever. Oh, and it must be erotic 'cause it just took me 30 minutes to get back to my computer to finish this comment(if yuh knows what I means).
Vince Young? Although not a R-Rod QB, but Vince was taken and.....well leave his mental state out of it. Also, Shaun King? Wasn't he a R-Rod qb? I think it isn't so much the dual-threat qb as the physical attributes. You know, tall and big 'n stuff.
Frequency matters, too I think, to agree with baorao, that you might get the secondary jumping your routes/running lanes. Maybe a D could be kept honest with the occasional run right up the gut from the otherwise trick (2QB) formation. Catch the D overprotecting the perimeter. Also, I don't think you could use this type of formation more than 4 or 5 times a game. And the first 2 or 3 would be to set up the "suprise" on the 4th or 5th. I do like the 2 QB idea, just in moderation.
Agreed No sure about the Tater thing, but, yeah. Go Blue.
I don't remember... I can't remember calling Tate the next messiah, or whatever. But if I did, thanks for calling it out. I surely would not like to set lofty expectations of any winning record, ever. I like 3 - 9, keep it right there. Maybe we should let the other teams chasing our all time wins catch up a bit. You know, give 'em a sportin' chance 'n all. Was that the kind of poster you were after?? Or maybe try sarcasm with a little more relevent humor. Or not using all caps. It's hard to find sarcasm, or intended humor (the point of sarcasm) in side of a child's screaming fit.
Where? Still not seeing it.....how about some help. Is it the all caps? Seriously, gimme a hand here. And where can ye be gettin wun of dem carnfangled sensory-type thingers?
Get Over Yourself.... This is a website, consisting of - to my knowledge - no players. Just people with a gazillion different opinions (or epinions, whatever). That is the nature of the site. It is what we do. Express our opinions, optimistic or otherwise. We are going to be hopeful. If you dislike arrogance, how about this one especially for you: Tate has super-human powers and if he leaves college early it will be to become a member of the X-Men to fight crime and save humanity with his scrambling and passing skills. He could knock a purse thief's head off from 50 yards away! So, it almost goes without saying that he is going to lead us to a Nat'l title this year with the best passing stats of any QB ever. Hell, the NCAA may cancel next season and give us that trophy too! BOOYAH!!!
WTF? WTF?
The best highlight The int. he got at about 2:05(ish) in the video is awesome! He really got UP to get that ball. Could he be the chosen one? The one of the prophecy? The one who will defy the safety-hating-gods and turn them back into the boy-band-hating gods and forever rid us of the Jonas brothers?
Good one My father-in-law is a huge Kentucky fan. He tells me that "Big Blue" is what they call themselves. I think the simplicity of just "Blue" makes it more meaningful than all the adjectives you could try to precede it with. It speaks to originality and significance....alright. I'm done. I could go on, but...nah.
OK, someone help me here Did we get all the recruits we offered in 09?? Well, if we did we would be stacked at QB and every other position. No other BCS school would have recruits at all(OK, just a few for lack of housing in AA) as our walk-on program skyrockets.....Anarchy ensues. And so on....... We B fine. I would like to see about 30 offers out to DB's though(damn safety hating god couldn't possibly claim all their souls).
I would rather.. I would rather have a vasectomy with out anesthesia than have to Remember Kordell and the Webber TO. The Crable hit was not as painful, to me at least. But it did suck royally. Happy Thoughts....Andre Weathers vs Stanly Jackson in '97. Woodson vs Stanley Jackson in 07(or Woodson vs Suckguys). T. Biaka(I am not spelling the rest). OK, I am starting to come back to "meh" from the pain. Pain relief: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRKr1aDPaHc
Blue Blockers Blue Blockers would be seriously awesome. Or maybe the new HD vision glasses!!!
Special Teams You are right that improvement on special teams will net us some W's. I mean, the only time I could watch a special teams play last year without fear of self-defication was when Mesko was punting(with that fun little roll out). I am sure I wasn't the only one hoping Bo's spirit would somehow descend and help to gently guide the ball in mid-flight right into the cozy warmth of the awaiting hands of _(insert your favorite fumbler here).
Baaaa 1000 kinds of stupid likes it when you stroke my beard. Baaaaa! Be weary of the petting zoo, for we are watching.
I say good-bye, and thanks OK, so if Threet goes, good-bye. We will likely start a freshman, OK. But, as for a "tempered QB," Sheridan will fill the role nicely. He is pretty smart, so I hear. His dad is a coach and I also understand that coaching is Sheridan's ultimate goal anyway. So, Sheridan can provide some guidance. We do not need Threet for that. And, the same ability Threet could have to improve applies as well to Sheridan (yes, I did see him play, but he is not immune to improvement). So, D-Rob can be safety if he wants and Feagin could also compete for QB. Another tough year, of course. But look at the depth at QB (Tate, Justin, Nicky); we could lock up Gardner in 2010 easily with that depth. I am not saying Tate will be the next coming, either. But his skill set will get him through more situations successfully than we witnessed last year. The aged O-line will also help with the overall progression of the year. The circumstances aren't there for BCS contention yet, but they are in place for an improved season.
or not or not
Imagine... Could you imagine in 3 or 4 years when these guys will be going into the NFL? Put the star rankings aside and pretend they all might make it. ...."And with the first pick in the 2013 draft, the Lions select Quetzalcoatl Carrasco....with the second pick the Lions select Jideofo Okwudiri....with the third pick the Lions select (they will be bad enough by then that the Federal government will force the NFL to grant the entire 1st round to the Lions for 2013 claiming unfair assessment, acquisition, and coaching of talent by every other NFL team).
Affirmation The Knowledge, "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and dog-gone-it, people...errrr....I like me."
I bet Steiner could kick that I bet Steiner could kick that stupid Laurinaitis' dad's ass!
I think CW took our sescondary I think Charles Woodson packed up the secondary skills and took them with him when he left for the NFL. We had a few years or OK play, but mostly have not had a force in our secondary for a long time. Most recently, Trent stunk it up. Our "best" corner got smoked the last few years. Sometimes, the end of eligibility is a good thing. I expect Warren to step up to the plate. I also expect we have a real rising star in Justin Turner. I am not sure about Cisoko(sp) yet. I guess I would have to say underachievers, a product of coaching, would be to blame. Look at our DC's.
Maybe it won't be the QB Threet/Forcier/Robinson ("Sheridan, shine the helmets!"), it is all the same to me. At least in the short term. I think Forcier may come into more playing time as the year progresses, naturally this happens for developing QBs. The biggest thing here is that the O-line will be a ton more mature and able to run the system. Seriously, our QBs looked bad behind an O-line that at times (you have to admit) looked like a school of fish out of water. The O-lines improvement = total offensive improvement, even with a minor expansion to the playbook. Total O improvement = more time of possession. Time of possession = less time the D is on the field. This translates to less points against us. I would love to see Forcier get in there and show some crazy skills, but even Threet will perform better behind this year's O-line. "Nicky, if there is one spot on those helmets so help me......" BTW - I am cool with "Bowl Eligible" in 09.
Playoffs....aarrghh! I like the austrailian thingy the best. But think about the problems we have now, compounded. All major bowl venues would have there hands deep into this system. So...much like now. Any East Coast/Midwest team would be forced to play.....um.....every game on the road. That is unless there were regional venues like in basketball. But, the big money bowls are gonna throw their weight all over the place to play games on their terms(and fields). Then there is the time away from school, again, more of a concern for, say, the Big Ten than the Pac 10. USC can roll out of bed and into the Rose Bowl (UCLA too for that matter). And don't even get me started on fan travel. Could even major programs with giant followings fill the stadiums 3 or 4 weeks in a row. Again, Big East and Big Ten (C-USA, MAC, etc. for what its worth) at a disadvantage. Unless we can get some traction on some regional games to be played, lets stick with what we have that, if nothing else, gives us something(Nat'l title/BCS inclusion) to debate/blog/post about while we watch the recruits come in and wait for the next season.
why not consider.... OK. I do like Wisconsin's, but only to the cheese commercial's lyrics. I think Tennessee's Rocky Top is awesome(I played it in 7th grade, too). They get my number #2 vote. I hate Notre Dame's song, it was played by my high school's biggest rival (Excuse me while I go kick the dog). But since we are getting off subject a tad by including non-fight songs....I want to vote for Temptation. I play that song about 50 times a week during football season!
Not optimistic To be honest, I am more optimistic about our chances to land another 4-star(or better) CB or QB this year than a quality DC. I don't see any quality info from any source that leads me to believe otherwise. I just check my favorite sites daily, praying that a headline that will put my mind to ease will magically appear.
Lets all remember.. Lets all remember this before we go making a name plaque for GRod....The strongest opinion for our new HC was Les Miles. We were throwing a party and in rolled the big party cake. Then at just the right moment, out of the cake jumped our new HC. We were all ready to scream, "Welcome Les!" Then we took a look and saw the guy(IMO) who may lead head up the most dynamic change in offense at the major program, ever. Someone else refered to a "smokescreen" for the real DC candidate. Well, considering last years HC hire, I have to subscribe to the "smokescreen" theory. Not that Les was intended to serve as a smokescreen, just that most had assumed it was a "done deal."
