Wow. Cool. cool. How many…

Wow. Cool. cool. How many times has Michigan won against Ohio State in....oh....I don't know.........the last 20 years?

Loaded? Maybe '99, 2000, and…

Loaded? Maybe you forgot the Buckeyes in '99, 2000, and 2001, but I didn't. "I'm so sorry, Belisare". Tressel had a lot work ahead, especially at quarterback. Not to mention, Hoke had his best year with not his guys, as well as Harbaugh. And supposedly, Harbaugh has better talent now. Someone can't do anything with that? You just don't want to figure out that question and get someone who will do it. Who thought Tressel would do what he did? Nobody. Stop your excuses.

After seeing what he did as…

After seeing what he did as OC, there's no way I'd.......actually, yes. He would be the perfect Head coach for Michigan.

No, Urban ran an inside zone…

No, Urban ran an inside zone read based offense. Ran it forever. At no point did he run a power based offense. RichRod ran a similar offense to Urban. He just never thought to recruit offensive linemen. Or runningbacks. He did get quarterbacks, but too late to save his tenure.

Tell that to Tressel. Or…

Tell that to Tressel. Or Meyer. Or Day. Instant impact immediately. And with the exception of Day, the other two coaches did have to do a bit of a rebuild to get the program on track.

Not gonna lie, I laughed out…

Not gonna lie, I laughed out loud when I read that in the UFR. Is Brian looking at the same quarterback as the rest of us? And after watching McNamara throw, it makes you wonder how in the hell Milton got the job over him. How did Milton get the job over McCaffrey?

"Season doesn't matter"? I…

"Season doesn't matter"? I say it matters a whole hell of a lot. Every team is going through the same stuff. Wisconsin got the worst of it. Didn't scare them out of playing football. Michigan needs to nut up or shut up.

You want some truth?…

You want some truth? Michigan sucks. You suck. Everything you love sucks. As for me? Life's pretty sweet. You could say it's "too sweet"

.

*Peeps Score* Ah, yes. Ohio…

*Peeps Score* Ah, yes. Ohio State was certainly and completely outcoached in this game. Bunch of wankers. Ohio State played a very basic defense in the first half as Michigan threw a lot of looks they haven't shown much all year in the first half and came up with a creative game plan. 250 yards passing and no sacks (and really, no pressures) in the first half spell that out. After that, Ohio State started using a true nickel and dime and began blitzing. That led to Patterson being rushed more consistently, throwing bullets to his receivers they couldn't hang on to. And the receivers were thinking too much about getting hit when going through the middle of the field than securing the ball as Ohio State defenders were being very physical throughout the game. 50 yards passing, 2 sacks, and 1 INT in the second half. Who got outcoached?

Brian, you must be the most…

Brian, you must be the most sanctimonious asshole I have ever heard and/or read. I'm disappointed in you. Go fuck yourself, Go Blow

O-H

Wow. It was just TTUN making…

Wow. It was just TTUN making mistakes. It's not that Ohio State dominated an inferior opponent. TTUN just made too many mistakes. They just ran out of time.

Go Blow

Haven't listened to the…

Haven't listened to the podcast yet but saw one of the bullet points "Should Ed Warriner have been promoted to OC?" Dear God, no! Has that where ttun has come to. After watching what he did to the most talented offense since 1995 in 2015, he should never EVER be an OC. Ruined a possible repeat of 2014.

Sorry I didn't see your…

Sorry I didn't see your reply when I posted mine. I forgot about the weather part. Good on you.

Attendance has nothing to do…

Attendance has nothing to do with 1 loss hurts your chances immeasurably for the playoffs. Attendance is down because it's simply easier, cheaper and far more enjoyable to watch the game on TV. The stadium atmosphere at any college in football is not a ton of fun nor is it cheap. Until they try to make the atmosphere more enjoyable, the attendance issues will continue. Whether that's scheduling better teams in the non-conference instead of cupcakes or stop pumping in music during breaks in play or making ticket, food and/or parking prices more affordable.

While I do agree the playoff field should be expanded (8 teams. We don't even include all power 5 conference teams to get in), that isn't the issue with attendance.

HAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH…

HAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I always try to be…

I always try to be reasonable on this blog. I try to add to the discussion, distancing myself as much as I can from my Ohio State fandom and interact with everyone on here with an amount of civility and cordiality. I like the articles here. They give me a good idea on the TTUN mindset. I like reading the more thoughtful comments some of you make. I love Opponent Watch. That being said............

GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETT DUUNKED ON!!!! GET FUCKED, MICHIGAN! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Y'ALL ARE OUR BITCHES! AND I KNOW YOU GONNA WANNA COME BACK AT OHIO STATE! YOU GOING TO WANT TO WASH THE TASTE OF OUR DICK OUT OF YOUR MOUTH! BUT IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Good luck with the rest of the year. Hope you go to a good bowl and do well. Hope all your players are healthy and play their best.

Whatever gets you to sleep…

Whatever gets you to sleep at night

They don't run the ball,…

They don't run the ball, because they pass so well. And because they no longer have the threat of a running quarterback with Haskins. Defense could stand to not give up explosive plays and show up in the first half of games. But I'm not exactly worried unless we play Alabama.

I don't think Michigan's…

I don't think Michigan's offensive line woes have been solved. They have just been able to mask over the problems at tackle by doing everything possible to mitigate them from being too important for any one play. Tons of rollouts, quick passes. Not a lot of normal drop backs. The running game is doing very well, but when they have to pass the ball to catch up........ Next week is MSU. Higdon is not Miles Sanders. MSU is the number 1 rush defense in the nation. Have to pass it. Good news for M, MSU pass defense is dog dirt. But MSU was able to limit McSorely to less than 200 pass and 40 rush. Not a good look.

Didn't watch the game, but…

Didn't watch the game, but it sounds like Patterson had similar game to Haskins. Should be a banger come November. That defense is scary.

No kidding

No kidding

Well, we can't really see…

Well, we can't really see where his left arm is in that shot. Haven't really looked for a different angle of the play. But with his arm coming in front of him on the play, it looks like he could have tackled him.

And a lot of my assumption comes from him going down with the back. Usually when a player jams someone, they don't fall down with them. Well, I say fall, but it was more like he went through him. Could have just slipped and made it look worse than it was. But at that angle, I can see why they called holding.

Yeah, inconsistent calls…

Yeah, inconsistent calls just plain suck. It's what frustrates me about hockey sometimes. Or the 2016 Penn State game.

I love opponent watch. What…

I love opponent watch. What can I say?

On the Ross penalty. Got to…

On the Ross penalty. Got to disagree with ya. Both arms around the running back. Goes down with him. Away from the ball. It's a bad look. That's probably holding. Practically tackled him out of the backfield. Now, I don't remember the actual call. Was it pass interference or holding?

Agreed

I hold no love for Cincy (Steelers fan), but Four-ways are legit.

Finally

"Michigan, one would like to think, was champing at the bit"

Finally, someone says the phrase correctly. Thank you.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about "Hoke's Guys"

Those are Harbaugh's guys. The moment he signed that contract, he chose them and they became his. Stop pulling this bullshit that they belong to someone else. They belong to Harbaugh. Take ownership.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Fucking suck it, you shitbags!

LOSE FOREVER!

GO BUCKS!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo

I am proud to say that I read

I am proud to say that I read both this site and eleven warriors, and I don't read ESPN at all. I will miss Grantland for what it was, but I already saw the future of where journalism (good journalism) is heading, and it's blogs like this. I hope you guys can keep what you're doing and don't stop.

My only hope is that those journalists from Grantland continue to write in some fashion somewhere on the internet while they wait for their next oppurtunity. And who knows? They may just find that their blog is quite successful and they won't need to work at a major news network to write what they love.

We can only hope.

Wait, you're serious?

The best special teams in the nation?

Really?

Really, Seth? You just can't let it go, can you?

A side note: do not title

A side note: do not title your post that is intended to be serious "A Modest Proposal."

What? No, they didn't actually- *clicks link*

....oh my god. How unaware do you have to be as a writer?

This column is the one thing

This column is the one thing I look forward to reading on this site every football season. Thanks BiSB.

It is illegal. Should have been penalized.

Michigan could be in trouble

Michigan could be in trouble when they play against more competent LBs. Evident here and against Utah. Here against Oregon State, the LBs (especially that number 8) had plenty of time to get to the hole, fill, and stop many of Michigan's runs at or before the line of scrimmage. Instead of coming downhill, 8 moves over to the hole and stands off the line of scrimmage by as much as three yards. If any of you have played LB, you know you are going to get chewed out later for standing stock still in hole instead of filling it. Utah's LBs knew this and did well to stuff the play at the line. I think when Michigan goes up against the meat of the Big Ten schedule, it could be disasterous if they can't get their lineman up to the second level to block those LBs. The only Big Ten games I see Michigan's power and iso being effective are against Maryland, Rutgers, and Indiana. Otherwise, I think getting yards on the ground might be difficult to find.

You are crazy AND a state

You are crazy AND a state hater.

About Rutgers...

"I'm typing this blind since my eyeballs have rolled so far back in my head that you can touch my optical nerve"

Well, Rutgers did beat Michigan.....so, I don't think you have enough room to roll your eyes after that.

Is that MOOOOOOON! tag a DBZA

Is that MOOOOOOON! tag a DBZA reference? Cause if so, this blog got better.

inb4 someone brings up that it is a reference to the score of the game for most of it and that the graphic with each teams logo with the box score made it look like "MOON", I know already.

To be fair, I think this team

To be fair, I think this team has more fight in it than RichRod's first year. Maybe. They'll still play out of their minds against Ohio State, which RichRod could never do.

2.3 yds/rush

....Progress?

2.3 yds/rush

....Progress?

I think he is going by S&P+

I think he is going by S&P+ standards of charting drives. They stop looking at drives that contribute to the overall stats when the game is out of reach. And with scUM down 28-3 with ~9:00 remaining in the game, assuming no miracles, S&P+ is done charting. That's probably why.

Wow, Hoke is showing that he

Wow, Hoke is showing that he has NO balls to speak of. Is that how far this has gotten? That you have to apologize for putting a stake in the field? MSU, get over youselves. Michigan, grow a set and own up to it. And next time, don't lose when you do it.

Fucking ridiculous.

If Brian's UFR for the Penn

If Brian's UFR for the Penn State game is to be trusted then Michigan's offensive line did a good job pass blocking for gardner against a good Penn State defense. However, Gardner is broken, Darboh can't get seperation, and a hurt Funchess is Michigan's only viable downfield threat. They can give the best protection in the world against MSU, but if Gardner can't find anyone downfield (and past (non)success suggests this to be true) then it becomes moot. They have to find some success running the football using Gardner as a threat, whether he has the ball or not, to give the running back a chance. And they also have to stress those safeties to make quick decisions in the passing game, as the MSU safeties are not as good as in years past. But Gardner's arm doesn't seem to have that ability to threaten deep. It will be ugly for Michigan.

Yes, but the center of the

Yes, but the center of the line is not where any one man who happens to be #4 of the seven guys on the line, it is where the ball is placed. However, for the purposes of defensive alignments occur, yes, the RG would be considered the new center of their line and the defense would adjust accordingly so as to not be outflanked.

Also, as stated above, the exact seven rule only applies to the NFL. They got some weird rules.

“Don’t turn the ball over.

“Don’t turn the ball over. Get turnovers.”

Great insight, Hoke. I probably would have went with "Don't give up first downs. Get firstdowns."

I think you actually might be

I think you actually might be referring to an Unverified Voracity post, which included a link to a post on barkingcarnival.com. One of the comments included used number of collective starts for an offensive line (x-axis) compared to offensive success using S&P (y-axis). Michigan had 12 collective starts before the season. Ohio State had 15, 14 of them were Taylor Decker (Pat Elflein started the B1G championship game instead Marcus Hall). So both had to see a lot of new faces, but Ohio State has at least one really experienced guy on the line. And from the graph in the link, there doesn't seem to be much of a trend when it comes to offensive success and the experience of the offensive line (don't know why they put the nike swoosh on the graph. Endorsements? Texans are weird).

I don't think YPP is a very

I don't think YPP is a very telling stat when it comes to defenses. In that same metric, Houston's and Kentucky's defenses are ranked in the top ten. However, both are ranked  70th and 62nd, respectivley, in S&P+, which is a much better indicator of defensive performance (takes into account success rate, PPP, and SOS of opposing offenses w/o "garbage time"). By S&P+, OSU's opponents ranked 6th, 43rd, 63rd, 103rd, and 115th nationally. Still some garbage teams, but also some decent defenses with one great one. Michigan by that metric has faced the 13th, 18th, 22nd, 45th, 58th, 91st, and 128th. So, Michigan, on the average, has played better defenses. Again, both of these revelations have the same caveat of OSU's offense beating up on the defenses they face, and Michigan making (most) of the defenses they face look like the Steel Curtain. So, I guess I'm saying the same thing as you, but just saying the metric you used is not necessarily the best for determining defensive success.

Actually

it's been quite the opposite. On 3rd and 6+, Barrett has been 10/19, 146yds with 4TD/3INT, 7.68 YPA, and all three of those INTs came against VaTech. He's looked quite good since then. For comparisons sake, Connor Cook on 3rd and 6+ has been 13/29, 225yds 3TD/1INT, 7.76 YPA. Also, what is really scary, is that this redshirt freshaman is going through his third or FOURTH receiver during a given play. He's going to be good for a long time.

@Ace: FWIW, 7 of those 13 sacks came against VaTech. And it looks like the line has seen improvement since that game, but I'll wait for results against more proven defenses before I think a turn has been made.

MMMmmmm

You're tears taste soooo good. Have fun with Borges.
