I am a huge Michigan fan and…

I am a huge Michigan fan and I live in SEC country. Every year, I want Michigan to win every game but facts are facts and many Michigan fans I meet love to drink the Kool Aid when its handed to them and I wonder exactly what they are watching. Facts are facts and you can make all the excuses you want: "If Mettellus made the interception" "If O'Korn had made that throw" If the Refs called a better call" Call it what you may but anyone that thinks Michigan is close to being the program that Ohio State is in college football is so delusional its not worth talking about. I [, however, do not support Michigan becoming what Ohio State has to get them there. In an earlier thread, someone on here commented about Dabo Swinney. Dabo and Clemson were just an average program years ago until Spurrier retired from SC. Clemson struggled to beat the Gamecocks every year and Steve out recruited the Tigers every year. Meyer, however, has won quickly everywhere he has been. He no doubt is a total turd as a person but OSU wasn't even close to firing him over the summer.

Guys: I am watching the OSU…

Guys: I am watching the OSU/TCU game and I am hearing lots of comments on here about Michigan beating OSU. Not going to happen guys. Love him or hate him, Meyer is right behind Saban in terms of coaching. Michigan is an 8-4 or 8-5 team. OSU is a well oiled and super well coached machine in every aspect of the game. I hate to say it but Harbaugh is not the same guy that UM hired in a few years ago. He has a new set of assistants every year and he usually hires guys he can control instead of hiring coaches that will make the program better by their contribution. It’s ridiculous that a coach that is one of the highest paid in the game has such an issue with control. OSU gets better as the game progresses and that is called the ability to close out a win. The Buckeyes are better than Michigan on defense too and will easily hammer Harbaugh’s ridiculous 1988 offense which invites 10 in the box each snap. Sorry to sound to negative but the truth isn’t always easy to take.

The kid is good and takes…

The kid is good and takes command of the offense. He has the moxie to be a leader too. Like I have said on here 1000 times. Brandon Peters was a recruiting mistake and that is on Harbaugh. Peters is a MAC level player period.

WMU is pretty bad on defense…

WMU is pretty bad on defense. It was great Michigan got a win today and great for the confidence booster for the offense. Harbaugh, however, is running a 1980 offense and the OL will really struggle against MSU/Wisky/OSU/PSU. On defense, the guy who sticks out out is Forbush at LB matched up on the slot and really good teams are going to exploit that. I see this team going 8-5 again .

Michigan and Clemson cannot…

Michigan and Clemson cannot be compared. The ACC is no where near as good as the Big Ten. Miami is not the Miami of the 80's and 90's. Also, the only team Clemson really had to worry about for years was Florida State and now they won't be worrying about them at all. Steve Spurrier's retirement is what propelled Dabo and company into the national spotlight. Clemson struggled to beat South Carolina every year Spurrier was at the helm. Also, Spurrier got all of the top talent in SC (which has excellent high school football) year after year ahead of Clemson. Michigan has to play MSU/OSU/Wisky/Iowa/PSU/ and the conference is getting stronger. Also, like it or not, Mark Dantonio is an excellent coach and is able to pull lots of talent out of Michigan and away from Ann Arbor. Like I said in an earlier post. Michigan losing to ND at ND in a night game is understandable. The reason why Harbaugh is being hammered in the media and by the fan base right now is that NOTHING changed on offense and he has bottled up a pretty good QB with a pedestrian offense that has NO passing game. Also, the overall team attitude looked flat and emotionless just like he did on the sidelines and in his press conference.

I coached high school…

I coached high school football in SC for 24 years and you are absolutely correct about the Church. Although I never heard of any money laundering I do know for a fact that we had three players sign with Clemson at one time and our head coach resigned to take a job in the upstate and he suddenly afforded a huge home in a very nice neighborhood. None of us had any direct knowledge of any wrongdoing but we were all shaking our heads wondering how a high school teacher could afford that. I also know that IPTAY is huge in Clemson as well.

I was born and raised in…

I was born and raised in Michigan until moving South in 1985. I grew up a HUGE Michigan fan through Bo, Moeller, and Loyd Carr. I can honestly say a few things about the state of the program without having to say one cuss word or demand the firing of Jim Harbaugh. Like everyone that has posted in this website, I too was shocked last night and it was not because Michigan lost. I expected a very tough game regardless of the hype put out by the University of Michigan's PR department the entire Spring and Summer. What is most notable is the change in the demeanor of Coach Harbaugh. He looks weary, tired, worn and emotionless and the team played like it. I noticed it when they first ran out on the field and was concerned about how flat and emotionless the team looked. Frankly, I am still surprised we only lost by 7 points as poorly we played. Michigan's defense will be fine this season as evidenced by their play in the second half. The offense, however, it the main problem once again and it's not the QB. In fact, Patterson is being limited to a pedestrian high school scheme and it is very surprising coming from Harbaugh himself. The passing game is absolutely pathetic and that is on the million dollar coordinator Pep Hamilton and Harbaugh himself. On another note, Harbaugh has really changed from his first two years and he seems aloof and disconnected from the program. This makes me wonder if he is really pondering a return to the NFL after this season. Losing Saturday night is NOT the end to still having a great season and they have 4 weeks to tune up the offense before the weight of the schedule hits. I hope this happens because college football is much better with Michigan in the picture.

Excellent choice of drink…

Excellent choice of drink sir, however, the price is overwhelming.

Harbaugh is an excellent…

Harbaugh is an excellent coach despite some of the fanbase being morons and some of the media bashing him. He knows what happened last year. Michigan should have lost 3-4 last year with the players they lost from the previous year. Harbaugh's coaching staff had major issues as well on the offensive side. This was from allowing to many hands in the pot along with their bestowed titles. Personally, I thought Michigan was way too predictable on offense with Drevno at the helm calling a majority of the shots and this is probably why Jed and Wheatley left to begin with. Harbaugh's offense in his second year was way to vanilla to go the playoffs and despite mediocre QB play from Speight, they almost made it. This is why he changed his entire offensive staff and recruited Shea Patterson to UM. He will be the OC this year period AND he finally has a QB that can take Michigan to the next level. Peters is a MAC level QB and if he OR McCaffrey were that good then they would be playing. Milton will take over after Patterson leaves.

Give me a break! I love…

Give me a break! I love reading your blog and I am a Michigan fan but have you had your had in the sand over the past 40 or more years? This stuff has been going on in ALL sports for a very long time and NOW you want to write this whining piece in which you try to claim some high moral ground. This is about BIG MONEY and it always has been and it will continue to be about that AND it goes on at every major institution we watch every Saturday. Where was your piece like this when the NFL players beat their girlfriends and then go out on Sunday to make millions? Bottom line: If you can't live in the real word (and stop being butt hurt as a Michigan fan because your were hoping Meyer would get fired) then shut down this blog and quit watching athletics all together. The hypocrisy is astounding!!

I know that the Urban Meyer…

I know that the Urban Meyer saga has this board gripped today but Harbaugh naming Patterson as the starting QB is even more important news for Michigan on this Monday. It doesn't really matter what they do to Urban as he has permanently stained the program if they choose to keep him. He is no longer the media darling that often has gotten him playoff points in the past. Also, if he is fired it doesn't matter. Tressel was an excellent coach who elevated the program to its national status which paved the way for a constant recruitment machine. Meyer just stepped into a perfect situation and kept it going just like the person will that is hired to replace him. Ohio State has and always will be a great football program. Personally, I want Michigan to beat OSU with Meyer at the helm. Patterson being named as the clear starter two weeks prior to the ND game is awesome. Harbaugh has not been able to do this since taking over in Ann Arbor. Its good for the offense and they now can begin gelling with their clear leader. Also, the fact that Harbaugh had to go out of the program to get a starting QB speaks volumes about Peters and McCaffrey. Their freshman status is NOT an excuse. There are plenty of Freshman QB's who play big time college football (Like Georgia's and Alabama's QB). Peters was clearly a recruiting mistake and I would not be surprised to see him transfer to a MAC school where he should be. Patterson has two years if he is not drafted after this season and Milton who played against top level competition in Florida will be the next QB after Shea leaves. Great job Coach Harbaugh naming your leader!!! Go Blue!!!!

Hey Dick Head

I have two words Ohio State. Now fuck you

Lot’s of negativity about Harbaugh

On this board for Two months but Michigan is NOT going to find a better coach. My God the program has won a half a NC in 1997 and the others during WWII. It’s 2018 and they usually lose 3,4,5 games per year anyways. I’m a Michigan fan but Finebaum hit it when he said the fans are obnoxious, arrogant, and DELUSIONAL. Ridiculous dumbasses on here. You ride Harbaugh out of town because of the whining then you’ll get NO ONE worth a shit to coach.

Recruiting Today

Is a money scam. I’ve coached for over 24 years in SEC country. The star rankings per Rivals is a money machine and you can’t predict how a kid will turn out. They may have played against terrible competition or they may not develop well because they can’t adapt well. The 5 Star RB out of Virginia (Green) is a prime example.

Shea Patterson

Is the best QB that Michigan has had in a long long time and comparing him to the Brady Hoke Wilton Speight recruit is stupid.

I became a Michigan Fan

At age 7 growing up in Taylor until 1985 when my family decided to move back to North Carolina. I idolized Bo and the helmet

Reese Will Stay Put

It is very likely that Reese will stay in Georgia. After their trip to the NC game and losing by a hair, there is a huge push by Smart to keep Georgia talent in Georgia. Kirby is from Georgia and his Dad was a highly respected head football coach. It’s like Meyer in Ohio

What’s been exposed at MSU

Has been a major problem in college athletics for 40 years or more and now it’s FINALLY being exposed like it should be. Look at Winston at FSU just a few years back. The Tallahassee police covered for FSU on numerous occasions. Look at PSU which is the worst just to win in football

Don’t need new coaches!!!!

Michigan needs a true Division I QB!!!!!!! On offense. Speight sucked guys and Peters is a Miami, Ohio QB

I also

Had a crappy week. Hope it’s better next week

I call Bull

Saban can have anybody he wants at any time to join the best college football program in the nation. No struggle between Bama and Michigan

This Kid

Has played his entire career against some of the top high school football teams in the nation.Lowndes County in South Georgia is a powerhouse and they play against some great teams like their rival Valdosta. Very good get for Michigan and this kid will wind up playing on D or playing RB. He is a 3 star because Georgia is LOADED with great talent just like Florida.

Good Fit

For Malzone. He should have committed there 3 years ago.

Drinking Wolf Pup Session IPA

Excellent from Golden Road Brewery in California!!! Very very tasty

Tom Brady

Is the GOAT by what he has accomplished. Him being drafted into NE was a perfect storm with Kraft and Bellicheck

Shea Patterson

Will be eligible or Harbaugh wouldn’t have gone after him. Harbaugh knows that the QB position has screwed his team since his arrival in Ann Arbor. Patterson is very dynamic and will light the Big10 up folks. He can run and throw.

Golden Road

Brewery out of LA- Wolf Pup Session IPA

Not A Coach

Analyst position. Pep is not going anywhere and neither is Drevno. Michigan needs a QB and not new coaches. Consistency in coaching and a Good QB is the key

Sierra Nevada and New Belgium

Hands down

Who Cares

The problem is that you need ONE OC and assistant coaches to help him. Drevno is a good coach but he and 3 other coaches are calling the plays!!! That’s the offensive problem and Harbaughs fault. Pep and Drevno are not leaving Michigan fans and now Enos will be replacing Frey as a play caller. HUGE problem. If Patterson is ruled ineligible next year and Peters is the QB then your looking at another 8-5 season on top of no coaching changes.

Can’t Stand FSU

The way that they ran Bowden out of town and then scumbag Jimbo with the Winston stuff is the reason why. Taggart will not do as well as people think and I could care less if he is linked with Harbaugh. Dan Mullen will pull the top talent to Gainesville out of the big three Florida schools. Richt hit his ceiling this past season as he will win 8-9 games a year just like he did in Athens.

Icon on the game

Loved him. “Up front we have the big nasty’s” what a consummate professional and the game will miss him

Offensive Coaches

Everybody is blaming Drevno and Pep for the Michigan offense this year. Truthfully, 100% of the blame is on Jim Harbaugh. He is a HEAD COACH and NOT a coordinator. He should hire ONE OC and let them develop their identity and the players in their system. Instead, UM has allowed him as their great savior to act like a kid in a candy store by hiring his friends and family to coach. It’s past the point of ridiculous at this point.

Who Cares

Guy has been with the Pats for 11 years and is now a hot commodity. He has the personality of a mop anyways. Food crumbs in his beard and coke stains on his shirt in future interviews.

Great comment

I agree. Spend millions traveling to Rome so you can thumb your nose at the NCAA. Meanwhile, our conference opponents practice at home so they kick our ass again

Harbaugh

Is a good coach BUT he came into Ann Arbor like a spoiled brat. Michigan was so desperate to be saved that they basically gave him everything he has wanted. His first two years were great but this year was ridiculous. He lost a lot of coaching respect this year and us now being viewed as an over rated blowhard

Urban Meyer

Is a PROVEN excellent coach. He has won 3 titles and is basically right behind Saban. Meyer brings in different coaches year after year and the Bucs are ALWAYS in contention for the title. Like it or not, Michigan is a mid tier college football program. Not even close to OSU

Alabama won

Lots of haters on here. Alabama won because it’s a great program that does not quit. The same mentality our Wolverines need to follow

Ignorant statement

That’s all

Too many cooks

In Harbaugh’s kitchen

Coaching, OL scheme, and players the problem

First, Harbaugh needs to hire coaches instead of family and friends. Drevno may have been good at one time but he has SUCKED at Michigan as an OL/OC for three years. Pep Hamilton as been fired almost everywhere he coached besides Stanford. Michigan's offense has sucked for the past two years with NO qb development.

Rich Rod

Coached his last game as a head coach in the loss to Purdue. It is a shame that a guy who was a such a hero to his home state left it in such a horrible way while crashing at his next two destinations. His time as a coach has passed and he was a better coordinator than anything. It is hard to believe that at one time the University of Alabama was going to hire him and instead the University fo Michigan did hire him. No matter what is said by Michigan fans, Rich Rodriguez set the Michigan program for many years and Brady Hoke did recruit pretty well in many areas to at least get it back to respectable.

It's Coaching and the Head Coach is to Blame

Jim Harbaugh is a very good football coach folks and he KNOWS that he really screwed up this season. The biggest problem is his STAFF. Losing Fisch and Wheatey was a big deal. Tyrone Wheatey is a MICHIGAN LEGEND who came home to rebuild what Rich Rod and Hoke destroyed and he suddenly leaves? My gosh, he brought his son there to play and left him there. I was troubled by that because there is no way that he was getting a better deal as an assistant in the NFL. He left because of Harbaugh and Drevno's lack if direction for the offense and apparently for the direction of the program as a whole. Harbaugh has not been able to separate frinedships and family among his staff. This is a HUGE problem. Tim Drevno needs to move on folks ON HIS OWN and quit hanging from the shirt tale of Harbaugh. As the OC, he has not developed squat on the offense in three year period. Pep Hamilton has been fired everywhere he has been to my knowledge and frankly the passing game this year really sucked and it was not only on the shoulders of the QB's who were all three not very good to begin with. Don Brown has busted his ass since he was hired along with Zordich who is an excellent coach. There are rumors that Zordich is possibly leaving and I hope this isn't true. Brown and the defensive staff are going to getting real tired of doing their part when the offense looks like a clown show. At this point, Harbaugh's coaching stock is plummeting. He appears to everyone that he is OVERRATED. Hopefully, he gets rid of Drevno and Hamilton and even asks his son to move on to another program like a CMU. Hire some real ball busters and coaches on offense and get into the freaking game like Don Brown is each and every week.

UCF is NOT national champions

It is amazing that the Knights finished an undefeated season this year and that is a very hard to do. There are several teams though that they could not beat. Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Washington, Oklahoma, Clemson, to name a few. Much of what is being thrown into this is to push the Scott Frost hype machine. Good coach BUT is fixing to be humbled quite a bit. Nebraska is a HUGE mess and he will find it more difficult than he can imagine to return it to it's "Osborne state". Frost is a showboat with a big mouth and he hates Michigan. He will be humbled very quickly next year in Lincoln.

Les Miles Deserves Another Shot

Coach Miles did a great job at OSU and LSU. The folks in Baton Rouge right now are pretty sorry at this point that they let him go because of alumni politics. LSU has lost their swagger without him and Alabama has breathed a bit easier since his departure. He deserves another shot to be a HC once again and he would do wonderful in Arizona. Its a guarantee that he will be a pain in the neck on the recruiting trail for Chip Kelly in California and he would pull some Texas and SEC talent to Arizona as well. I hope they hire him. College football is better with Les Miles in the coaching ranks.

Conference Doesn’t Matter

Alabama and Georgia earned it. It has nothing to do with them being Southerners. Judging people from their geographic location is nothing better than being a racist against the other person because of their skin color. Same ignorance wrapped in different wrapping paper.

Harbaugh's Offense

Don't need a player to tell us that UM is predictable. Harbaugh is stubborn and his offense scheme is very high school. The scheme is very 1970's and 1980's Bo style bu tthat is not really the issue folks. The  play calling though is atrocious and there is no rhyme of reason for when the plays are called. On 1st down its a run for 8 yards then its a short TE crosser either dropped or thrown on the dirt. 3rd down its the Pep Hamilton fly pattern overthrown or not thrown far enough. Jim Harbaugh's biggest problem is the hiring of FRIENDS and FAMILY as coaches. I though tit was really weird for Wheatley to leave when his kid was still on the team. He could have gone to the NFL at any time to coach but he left his boy in Ann Arbor. Something is not right about that. Top coaches approach theri programs with all business. Look at what Saban did prior to the NC last year with Kiffin. Ran his ass out and it probaby cost him but he was in control of HIS program. Michigan brought in Harbaugh into AA and has treated him like a GOD giving him a free hand and 7 million dollars. His first season was his best coaching job. The team that Michigan had last year should have NEVER lost to Iowa or Ohio State (The hell with the call-shouldn't have been in that place to begin with) and not FSU either. They should have been in the playoffs eben though Bama or Clemson would have beat them.

Alabama

Saban will win yet another. He is all business and has been phenomenal since his arrival in Tuscaloosa. Before that, Alabama had slipped big time onto mediocrity from their last Natty in 1992. There were a few good seasons but Saban has really laid his mark as one of the best period. The coaching tree is remarkable as well. With Saban, there is no whining, trips to Rome, Twitter wars,  or Washington political statements like Harbaugh has done in 3 years in AA. Saban came to Alabama to make it relevant again and boy has he. He was already a proven winner prior to his arrival. Like hin or not, he is the BEST!!!
