|1 day 21 hours ago||Questionable?||
Anyone else find it interesting that NFL.com is willing to publish this, suggesting that a coach who is still in-season, who still has a signed contract with a current team which runs through next year, should go work for another organization?
I guess the NFL would not opt to accuse itself of tampering.
|2 days 1 hour ago||Where is he now?||
I'm not sure how universally loved he has been by the fanbase, at least after the M academics-bashing while he was at Stanford.
I don't know if he'd fall into "hated" category, but there is bound to be some collective frustration/hurt feeling/sour grapes if he spurns such an aggressive offer.
EDIT: While I don't expect it, if he turns the offer down and there is an appearance that he is/was stringing Michigan along just to gain leverage for his next NFL contract, then I'd expect he'd move him more toward the "hated" category.

Looks like he has a new tweet with the same response. Your point is a good one.
|2 days 2 hours ago||That's what I'd wondered too.||
That's what I'd wondered too. That quote, to my anxious over-analyzing ears, does not sound too reassuring. I read it as if they were not planning to consider the Michigan offer much, but now might be re-thinking that.
Hopefully that's not the case. Maybe it's more of a "we didn't think Michigan would give an offer that was significant enough to consider, but now we're talking!"

Thanks for the embed. I thought I'd actually figured it out, but no such luck.

I tried to embed the tweet, but it showed up as a quote. Oh well. If you're interested, you can just go HERE.

I agree with the title.
The AD seems to be handling the Harbaugh courting as well as possible. It give me confidence that they are serious about fixing the many current issues. I hope Harbaugh will choose to be a part of that solution, but even without knowing what Plan B is, I have much more optimism now than I did several weeks/months ago.
|2 days 16 hours ago||No.||
No one else is hoping that.
EDIT: or hopping, as you and the Easter Bunny might say. :-)
|2 days 16 hours ago||This||
"THEY'VE DONE WHAT THEY HAD TO DO. Michigan assembled a kickass offer to come back to Ann Arbor and run the town. It is now highly public. If Harbaugh doesn't come, that's on him. No milquetoasty private conversations about how he flaked leaking out over the years; no debate about whether Michigan had a bonafide offer. They came strong and public in exactly the way they should have last time."
I totally agree, and that has been my feeling this whole way through. I've agreed with Brian's assessment all the way through that M/Hackett were doing this properly. If Harbaugh doesn't want to come back to Ann Arbor, I'll respect that, and I'll really respect how Michigan carried out the search.
...sure hope this is ItsHappening.gif!!!

"OK, that's not a guy saying, it's a done deal and definitely going to happen. It's guesswork. It's an opinion."

The timing sucks, but follows shortly after his recent comments. Much better to act promptly to those than to let it ligner. Still as rough time of the year, however... I suspect he may have had an idea it was coming, however, after the firestorm he created.

Perhaps it has more to do with the players he knows are on the depth chart than the coach wo may be coming... Or, moving closer to home, it is a non-football issues

I may misunderstand the Dead period rules, but I believe that no contact is allowed, including phone calls.
|5 days 14 hours ago||Sounds good!||
Let's just see the Lions win out and make this a moot point anyway!
|5 days 14 hours ago||?||
"... If the Packers somehow lost to the Bucs next week, a Lions win in Chicago would give them the division regardless of week 17."
I don't know how reliable that is, but the ESPN Playoff Machine has the tiebraker going to the Packers, not the Lions, in this scenario.
|5 days 14 hours ago||This can help.||
You can play out any scenario you want on ESPN's Playoff Machine.

Scanning down the tread list, this was a bit amusing:

Wish I were anywhere near Ann Arbor so that I could join you (in the drinking and/or the buying!)

The last few years have shown the flaws in that logic. Let's hope it is not as painfully illustrated again anytime soon.

So... Legends eat first?
More seriously, this looks great!

This would be my guess on the route they'll take.
|1 week 6 days ago||I don't math.||
Yes... 2.5 hours. So are the teams announced just before 3:00?
EDIT: Mercifully no.
|1 week 6 days ago||How long?||
Yahoo TV shows this as running from 12:30 to 3:00. Is this thing really 3.5 effing hours?
Anyone know when they will actually announce the teams/seeds?
|1 week 6 days ago||Not for him, for his new team.||
It's not leverage for Harbaugh's personal contract. It's leverage to reduce the amount that his new team would have to give up to get him. (As Brian mentioned in a front page post recently: the more a new NFL team has to give up to get him, the more difficult it makes it for him to win in that new location.)
The idea that he could leave the NFL entirely reduces the "asking price" the 49ers might have for other NFL organizations trying to get him. If he walks from the NFL, the 49ers get no draft picks in return. If he stays in the NFL, there would likele be some sort of compensation to S.F.

|2 weeks 2 hours ago||Also interesting...||
Also interesting, it predicts the 11-2, 2011 team to beat this 5-7, 2014 team, but with just a 63.34% confidence.
I initially expected more confidence, but thinking back to the comebacks/close games in 2011, perhaps this is not so surprising.
