Perhaps a consensus 5-star top 30 player in not just a backup plan for Texas.
Who knows which visit might have influenced the other. I agree with you, if Murray were to flip to Texas, it would seem that might nudge Gentry in our direction. Let's hope that both of them love their upcoming visits!

He's corrected the link, but the comments will not let it die! Some of them are pretty funny.
|5 days 21 hours ago||re-offered||
One of the recruiting analysts (I forgot who) mentioned that he was re-offered today by the new staff.
|5 days 22 hours ago||^^ This||
My first thoughts exactly.
I'm not going to go so far as to say it's Iman Marshall, but this give me the impression that the staff is feeling good about another prospect or two who are higher on their board.

I agree. It is amazing what (wildly negative an inappropriate) crap people will tweet to recruits. I've never even sent a "Go Blue!" or re-tweeted. I have favorited a recruiting photo or two, but that's it.
|1 week 1 hour ago||Follow, but don't tweet?||
I have noticed a number of recruits with tweets along the lines of "Love to hear from XYZ U's fans" "Where are all the XYZ U fans?"
Lately, when I hear that a recruit has received an offer, I'll follow that recruit. I NEVER tweet at/around them. (I can't say I really tweet at all, for that matter.) I feel this give a sense of the size/passion of the UofM fan base, without crossing any lines on contacting recruits.
I am not posting this as neg bait/flame bait, just genuinly interested in others' opinions on this practice.

Yes, thanks. That contains almost none of the details in that are in the Maize n Brew article & it is no longer on the front page.

I edited that out of the title... makes it a bit less cumbersome!

I suspect that he understood quite well that it would come with the territory when he took the job.
It also may be a bonus on a recruiting trip, to foster the rockstar coach persona.

We can compete with George... Hopefully we won't also be competing against a bunch of Benjamins.

Thursday Recruiting... Cliffs Notes?

Maybe Harbaugh can get the Pope to weigh in on the matter.

We ain't come to play preseason rankings!
|2 weeks 21 hours ago||Dougherty or Manning not in?||
I suppose time will tell soon enough, but if he's still "working on staff stuff" does that mean that either Doughtery and Manning are not in the fold? Perhaps other candidates are still in play?

|2 weeks 5 days ago||Sam has denied that the||
Sam has denied that the contract is signed, but hasn't really disputed the other reports, has he?
It seems like Webb just wants to avoid the appearance that Wheatley, a friend if his, is saying it's a done deal before everything is signed, sealed, and delivered.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||While disappointing for the||
While disappointing for the team, it certainly wouldn't be a surprise to see a few go, particularly with the starting LT and RT spots seeming locked down by a sophomore and a junior.
While it would suck and reduce short term depth, it might be better in the long run to even-out the distribution over the classes.
Just with Bosh, if it happens, I hope we all wish them the best for the future. I'm sure it's not an easy decision.

Mattison is owed his money no matter what, right? If he's not on staff, that $$ is lost.

Sounds good... Maybe I'll be the one to buy you that beer!
And agreed: Go Lions and Go Blue!
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Yes, as you can tell by the||
Yes, as you can tell by the <700 points I've accumulated since 2008, I like to throw in lots of random crap just to run up my point total.
You might not have appreciated the attempt at humor, which is fine. I would point out that your erroneous assumption didn't add a whole lot to the discussion either, but did serve to make it a bit nastier.
...Tell you what, if your delicate internet sensibilities get upset so easily, if I bump into you on game day in Ann Arbor this fall, I'll have UofMDDS96 buy a beer for you at Ashley's. :-)
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Leverage||
As mentioned where this came up in another thread, the meaning is clear:
As is soon to be reported by NFL.com, both Marrow and Clark are headed to the Raiders. Just used UK and UofM for leverage.

Both going straight to the Raiders
|3 weeks 2 days ago||^^ This||
Exactly. You can't recruit everyone, particularly once a position is full. If this season had played out a little differently we'd still have the same coaching staff and many more recruits still in the fold.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Family visits?||
No face-to-face visits with recruits during the dead period, but that rule does not apply to families, does it?
|3 weeks 4 days ago||I'm confused too. Why||
I'm confused too. Why wouldn't he have s position responsibility as well?
|3 weeks 5 days ago||I said that (jokingly)||
I said that (jokingly) above... beat you to the punch by about 10 minutes.
More seriously though, just like this year, the backup quarterback (2nd best QB on the roster) is going to see the field. Even if Hogan came and won the starting job, unless Bellomy sees huge improvement, it seems like Shane is going to get some PT.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||He'd still have a chance in||
He'd still have a chance in 2015 too. If he's the best, he'll be on the field.
For those who think Hogan would show up and take the job from Shane, I'd say that's a reason to welcome him aboard, if interested. If there's good competition between the two, all the better!
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Shane isn't a young player.||
Shane isn't a young player. He'll be a junior. Typically the younger quarterbacks develop via redshirt, practice, etc.
With a short window for Shane to make great strides, I'd be fine with him doing this for another year as a backup before a breakout senior campaign - or beating out good competition to take the reigns for himself next year!
