The word failure is enough. This team is not a failure, nor is the season. The season may not be up to Michigan hockey standards, but 8-1-1 in the last 10 games, a streak that most teams would die for. Ran into a hotter/better team, and the season came to a crashing halt.

Sadly for you, I do teach, and I would at no point call any one of them failures. I'm glad Brian can sit behind a keyboard and blog about how the team is a failure.

I'll admit it. We went down to Ole Miss in the 2011 season to see what all the hoopla was about. It defeinitely lived up to the hype, and I highly suggest anyone able to to make the trip. Tickets are very, very cheap, for great seats. Also, not only are the girls as gorgeous as the ones you google, but the tailgaters are super friendly. Invited into a few tailgates to eat and drink as we please, and stopped by numerous other fans just to chat. Of course there were the jeers and the like, but nothing harsh. In addition, we even saw another group of Michigan fans from afar. Make the trip!

Actually heard about the place, and heard great things. Sadly they're closed on 1/1 and 1/2 I believe for the holidays. And on 12/31 they're throwing a NYE party, which I believe is sold out.

Michigan student here, and randomly love University of South Carolina with no affiliation to it at all so I decided to donate there this year. My ideal matchup, even considering sitting in the South Carolina section.

after the game, at least 5 groups of OSU fans told us to "Drive home safely!" Such nice people. But in all seriousness, before the game everyone was very cordial, the most harsh words were said right outside the stadium right after the game. And the 40+ year old drunk women are by far the most annoying. I found the crowd this year to be much nicer than 4 years ago when I went previously.

Thinking about taking my Indiana Fever warmup jersey, throwing on a wig, and going as a WNBA player. Great way to half-ass a costume.

The Cowboys Stadium experience in general was awful. We had purchased a parking pass in advance for one of the Cowboys Stadium lots that were to open at noon, but since the lot had a SINGLE cashier that did not show up our crew of four cars weren't able to get in until 12:30 or so. Not a huge deal, but an easily solvable problem, by having multiple people you trust with money, or your workers show up on time.

In addition, after the game we had an event staff worker as we were exiting back to the parking lot tell us, completely unprompted, that it must have sucked watching our asses get kicked like that. Real classy Texas. On the other hand, not a single Bama fan talked trash to us or got in our face after the game. All very respectful people. Newfound respect for the Bama fanbase.

No, and if a parking spot is reserved for the employee of the month, I definitely will park there as it is for someone else. Do you take an unchained bike off a rack because it is there? An unclaimed seat is not yours to take, do not take it.

Wow, I am impressed that you had hockey tickets for 9 straight years, I thought I was doing well by having tickets for my 8th straight year this coming year. Cannot believe someone has me beat. But, my 5th year tickets weren't great, but this last year's tickets were amazing, even allowing me to sit down during games at times. But yes, it is still done by consecutive years with tickets.

Glad I just bought mine at UGP so that I had it in time for my 2 week trip to Europe. Made for great reading throughout the trip and on the plane. One of the many benefits of still living in Ann Arbor.

Just to give a little bit more clarity. The away ticket opportunity for students opens for ~a week about a week after the season ticket window for students closes, so sometime in early April usually. You'll need to go in person to the ticket office and fill out a form. For the bigger games you're limited to one student per ticket. The costs are face value, but are usually worth it.

I like this idea as it would benefit me personally. But do you know the real way to get students to attend nonrevenue events? PUT A GOOD PRODUCT ON THE FIELD. As an example, the crowds at the end of that magical soccer run with Meram and the Saads two years ago were boisterous and full. The crowds at the end of this past season were nonexistant. The difference being one team was a national runner up, and the other struggled mightily. No knock on the soccer team, just a fact of life.

Cubs fan here as well. Can't wait to go to the Cubs/Tigers series in Chicago this summer. The three game set in Detroit three years ago could have gone a bit better.

Read the fine print. For the Alabama game only, the student ticket will be picked up IN DALLAS. And as to where the tickets for this game will be, they'll be similar to the sugar bowl location. Behind the end zone in the lower bowl.

I think it'll be $66 before fees if you purchase public tickets. Hopefully the university will have some for students at a slight discount. Who knows.

I am considering heading up to Chicago Thursday after work, but I already have a place to stay in the Lincoln Park area. I might be able to give you a ride back and forth though. How flexible are you on what times to come and go?

From what I've seen of this game, Coreau has played poorly. Seems to be out of position and letting up juicy rebounds that BGSU has cashed in. There were NMU fans complaining yesterday that they wish Ellington had gotten pulled in favor of Coreau in that game, wonder if they still feel that way.

I got 4 SRO to Opening Day. I was in super quick, as SRO tickets are numbered chronologically. It seemed as if there were almost no real seats available for opening day today?

I had called off our trip due to the impending snow storm, but after seeing such a light dusting in the Ann Arbor area, we picked up tickets this morning in section C. Anyone further south on US-23 want to comment on if they got hit by the storm at all?

We are curerntly planning on staying at the Hilton Ft Worth. We're more of a Ft Worth crowd than a Dallas crowd and are coming with a very large group.

I was in Orlando for three days or so for the shuttle launch this past spring/summer. It is a pretty decent time. You can go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter/Universal Studios for a day. You can go to Epcot for a day. And then you can just drink for a day. It's not like you're going there to live. You're just exploring the city, there'll enough touristy things to do.

I was also in Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl, and while it wasn't as great of a bowl location as New Orleans, it was still a good time. Game day is spent tailgating and going to the game and crying as was the case last year. And then you also have New Year's Eve to knock off a day on the trip. You can also spend New Year's Day at the bar watching bowl games if your game isn't on that day.

Going to bowl games is just a good excuse to take another vacation in a location that you wouldn't normally go to and show your support for something that you do love. And yes, I will be in Dallas this September and exploring the Ft Worth area.

Not sure about the first part. But I have a few ideas for part 2. Not sure how others do it, but I would suggest a software called Rasterbator (not a perverted joke). It allows you to upload an image, choose how big you would like it, and what size margins and then prints out multiple sheets of paper. It'll print everything using dots rather than solid ink to save ink I believe. However, from a distance it is perfect. From there you just line the pieces of paper up and tape them together. I would then suggest taping it to poster board or to cardboard.

Next Saturday, Feb. 18, Men's Basketball Student Season Ticket Holders can begin lining up at 5:00 a.m. at Gate D of Crisler Center to be part of ESPN College GameDay airing live starting at 10:00 a.m on ESPNU and 11:00 a.m. on ESPN.

It seems to indicate that they will not let people start to line up prior to 5 AM.

The free press is saying that it will be Western Michigan this year, but I thought I had previously heard it was St Cloud State. Not sure if they got the boot to try to get better attendance.

We have gotten together a group of 20+ recent alums/grad students, so not rich by any means, but we have decided to all meet in Dallas. A vacation/reunion of sorts. I would like the athletic department to continue scheduling interesting events in different locations like this.

If anyone does have more info on this, that'd be great. I was wondering the same thing, if you get the automatic game suspension, I feel like that'd be something that they wouldn't let you appeal as it was ruled in game. But anything's possible.

I was CTD sometime between 1999 and 2001. Have to do some extra digging to figure out which exact summer. Creative writing class, my ass. All I learned from that summer was that I can force myself to be double jointed and that dorms are awful. Playing worms was a good time though.

I was not told that I could be great at im sports but I have trumped that obstacle and become an im dodgeball champ and a four time runner up in various other sports. so he clearly can still get an education even tho Saban only sees him as an athlete

Triple XXX Burger is nearish campus and was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. I went there before a football game a few years back and I enjoyed it. Good root beer, innovative burgers. I'm unsure if they served beer, a decently lengthy walk to Mackey.

I disagree with the risk reward. What's the most you think a $125 ticket will drop to? $50-$75? And if prices do go up, they could jump significantly, at least to the $200 range, giving you at best a toss up. As others have said, considering the market for last year's game, I would lean heavily towards prices going up.

I second Champion House. If you ask real nicely, they might even put any leftover sake bombs into a to go cup for you if you so desire, as long as the manager isn't in.

You are supposed to show a MCard when you turn in your voucher at the gate for a ticket. However, the MSU game is different. For any student tickets in the lower bowl, we already turned in our voucher to get a real ticket, along with a wristband, and the ticket doesn't say anything about needing a MCard. Online it says for premium games, which MSU is, you can get a ticket validated for $20 though. Not sure what to make of all of that.

I played beerio kart during the second half (For those of you don't know that's where you play Mario Kart 64, and for each race you must finish your beer before you cross the finish line for the third time. But as any good driver knows, you may not drink while you are also driving.) We also had a rule that there was a shot for every LSU score.

I'm willing to bet students will get a break. Why would you even think that they wouldn't? We get breaks for home games, bowl games, NCAA hockey tournament games, GLI games, etc.

Think about us poor folk down in New Orleans. We either need to not explore the night life or miss the game. Last year in Jacksonville we managed to convince the BWW (OSU alumni bar) to put on the GLI.

Stubhub is not establishing any of the prices. They are merely a ticket broker. Other consumers are buying the tickets to the concert, and then selling it to you at a marked up price. Blame them.

Why did UNC not go for 2 after scoring their last td, to pull within 16? It at least technically pulls it to a two score game. And the announcers don't even make a mention of it. Does that show how little these teams care about winning the game?

answer this is a pretty good movie featuring a lot of campus locations and also Ralph Williams, a revered university professor. the problem with the tshirt is that it's not the same color as in the movie, otherwise that would've been everyone's Xmas present.

Not sure how they allocated tickets. I have tickets in 127, and two separate groups of friends have tickets in 126. We all bought 8, not sure if that's got anything to do with it.

They do not have to take us if we're top 14. There is no clause that two schools from one conference in the top 14 must be taken. We are just "guaranteed" to be taken if we're top 14 because of the Michigan brand name and the money and eyeballs that it draws.

How would they take WVU's spot? An autobid is an autobid, you can't get your spot taken away even if there's a non-AQ champion in front of you. The only stipulation is that if a non-AQ is top 16 and ahead of a autoqualifying champion then they ALSO get an autobid.

As an electrical engineer at the University of Michigan, I care to disagree with that. US News has us as the 6th ranked undergraduate electrical engineering program, and the 7th ranked graduate electrical engineering program.

The only other Big Ten programs that have good engineering that I can think of off the top of my head are Purdue and Illinois. MSU's is trending upwards as well.

Last year for the Gator Bowl tickets went on sale the Monday after they were announced, and you had until Wednesday or Thursday to get your applications in. It was NOT on a first come first serve basis, instead if they went over their allottment they would do a drawing. I believe that we turned in all our applications together in order to get seating together. Of course there was no lottery last year, but if there were to be a lottery, your entire group would be treated as one lottery entry no matter the size, so either all of you got a ticket or none of you got a ticket. I think tickets were something like $80. We were able to pick up our tickets before heading down to Florida.

Now I've looked a bit at Sugar Bowl tickets. Here is how Arkansas and OSU did it last year. Both of them sold tickets to students for $92. Arkansas forced everyone to go into an online lottery right away, allowing one ticket per student season ticket holder, and required them to show student id down at the bowl site to pick up their ticket. OSU on the other hand allowed two tickets per student to be purchased, without need for a lottery, and to pick up their tickets before heading down to New Orleans. Hope that helps.
