"He's a hard worker, and he watched me and Tim (Hardaway Jr.) and Nik (Stauksas) put work in to become (first-round picks), and I'm just happy he's getting better," Burke said. "It's great for the program, too. It shows what type of program the University of Michigan is and the direction it continues to go in."

At least Musberger compared Tressel to that other great American of deception Richard M. Nixon, so he can't be all that bad. And remeber that Nixon had some major foreign policy accomplishments. But would you want your son to work for Nixon?

|3 years 7 weeks ago||How Fitting||
That the two OSU coaches who did the most to establish, continue and enhance the Buckeye brand of Top Ten football depart in such an ignominious fashion. Woody for belting an opposing player...during the game! And Tressel the serial turn the other cheek cheater who established no institutional control while his players lined their pockers for......ten years!
So Brent Musberger said that JT was a great guy. Have you ever noticed that most con artists and pathological liars are very likable? Of course they are because they say only what they think you want to hear.
Then there is Gordon Gee, selected by Time magazine within the past 12 months as the top university president in the USA, with MSC 3rd. Really? Could we have a revote?

I agree with all of your comments and truly don't understand the over-ratio of shit that has been lobbed at RR since he arrived. Of course the victory meltdown and destruction of the longest streak of bowl games threw gas on the fire. That I like and it's not just the classic Michigan first name. All of the evaluations seem to stress his football instincts. Wasn't that one of the big criticisms of our linebackers and safeties this year? Without picking on individual players who tried their best, it seemed that some of them were out of position so often due to poor reaction.
I also am very impressed with the intellectual capabilities. A 27 ACT? Yahoo buckaroo!

I find that the older I get the crappier becomes my grammar. You truly are Uber Grammar Dude.
But you must admit, if we were 11 wins in any of the last few seasons, then Swahili would be just fine with me.
|3 years 31 weeks ago||But Don't You Think||
That, and here come a lot of "ifs." If RR was pushed out, then DB would have only taken such action if JH is committed to UM and becomes the new UM Head Football Coach. If a kid was a life long UM fan and Jimmy Harbaugh became the new head coach, then don't you think that the kid would then really really look forward to the UM experience?
Of course, 18-year old kids are impressionable for different reasons.
|3 years 31 weeks ago||Correct Last Sentence||
, then all UM fans would care less if he spoke only Swahili.
|3 years 31 weeks ago||Not At All re Hillbillies||
The poke was at UM fans. Of the many criticisms of Rich Rod, one was that he had a hillbilly accent, poor grammar and lobbed numerous f bombs in practice. To which my response is who is shitting whom (I hope that is gramatically correct). I could give a crap less about anyone's accent and where they came from. I find RR to be an engaging personality, certainly more outgoing with the media than was Lloyd Carr. In the age of media attention on every little detail, I thought it was great to have a charming personality as UM football coach.
I have a home in Ann Arbor and one in Raleigh NC. I find it a little weak to form opinions based on one's speech patterns. Actually that was a big poke at UM fans. Are you crapping me? If RR came into town and ran off a couple of ten-win seasons, then should care if he spoke Swahili.
|3 years 31 weeks ago||I Thought That One of the Criticisms||
Of the S&C Program under Carr was that the UM defense tended to appear tired and slower as the game went on, particularly in the fourth quarter. While I am not able to cite specific instances, I thought there were a number of games in Carr's last season where we lost leads in the fourth quarter and ultimately the game.
Barwis seemed to bring a new element to Strength and Conditioning, or Strength, Speed and Conditioning. We were certainly impressive in the triple overtime game with Illinois, where it really seemed that we had as much gas in the tank in the overtime as we did earlier in the game. I doubt that we could say that about the Carr teams, though I would welcome any discussion to dispute that issue.
|3 years 31 weeks ago||What's Not to Like About This Kid?||
He doesn't have 4 stars? Does it really matter if the other evaluations are close to reality, he works out hard in the weight room and gets bigger?

|3 years 32 weeks ago||It Seems That it Just Was Not Meant to Be||
I thought that the RR hire was terrific at the time. However, it just seems that the body of work and circumstances since he arrived in Ann Arbor are negative. While the offense is explosive, the defense is offensive. RR seems to be a nice and likable guy, but he is implusive and hard headed, which left us with the 3-3-5 for three years of disastrous results. The brouhaha over the banquet speech and song selection made UM the laughing stock of college football on ESPN this week. Was Practicegate his fault? He was the head coach when it occurred, even though that is comical in light of the Cam Newton situation. Then there was the negative aspect of the WVU litigation and UM-assisted settlement on the eve of Mary Sue Coleman being deposed and the bank guarantee litigation in WV.
In looking at the body of work on and off the field in the past three years, it really is time for a change if................we can get Jim Harbaugh. If not, what else is out there?

But how realistic is it whether the coach is RR or JH? DR has loads of talent, but can't seem to stay in the game for four quarters and makes terrible decisions on his passing. Does one year of maturation and conditioning cure all of that? I would love to see it but am not so sure.

|4 years 51 weeks ago||Interesting Dilemma||
I graduated from UM Law School and am a member of AAGO, so I realize that I have two strikes against me due to such tawdry characteristics. Therefore, form your opinions before reading my comments and don't let facts get in the way of those opinions.
AAGO was formed in the 1890's so it existed well before the stadium. Its primary objective is to provide golf, tennis and food amenities or services to its members. The parking is a collateral financial benefit to the club but requires a lot of work and expense to effectively manage. It is not just stuffing a bunch of cash into pockets.
Walking around the parking area on football game days is just a fun thing to observe, though many of the parking participants get a tad rowdy and may not move as easily as some of the other posters suggest. The dialogue between Wolverines and visiting fans is great to watch (certainly better than most of the games last year).
Contrary to the cynics, safety is a concern and AAGO does not desire to be on the defending side of litigation that would surely evolve from a serious injury in the parking area if sufficient safeguards are not taken. Contrary to some of the parking areas on the front lawns of a house, AAGO has real assets that it desires to protect from the unfortunate result of litigation.
Further, from a reasonable economic point of view, why should someone pay for one parking spot and then occupy two or three with their canopies, tents or whatever? One would think that AAGO could address this issue to find a reasonable solution that would be amenable to the parking patrons. But let's get real, do any of you give your customers two-for-one just because they want that?
On the other hand, it would seem to me that AAGO should also investigate some way to enable groups of patrons that desire to park there to either reserve or otherwise provide for a number of cars to park together even though they may arrive at different times. I have no idea how difficult that would be to administer and perhaps some construction criticism could be provided to address that issue.
The concept of painting yellow lines on the golf course is just silly. The course gets damaged from barbeques, etc. as many of the patrons just dump their grill residue on the course. Painting yellow lines takes that abuse one step further and may lead one to conclude that some of the parking patrons really don't give a crap about the property.
So there you go.
|5 years 16 weeks ago||Numbers Above 100||
Why don't they allow numbers above 100 to avoid duplication. While one might contend that the numbers don't fit, the solution would be to reserve those numbers for the big fellas with the wide bodies: offense or defense lines.
|5 years 16 weeks ago||Why Not Number Above 100?||
Rather than create numerous duplicate numbers, why don't we have numbers above 100? Those numbers could be reserved for the big guys on the offensive or defensive lines.
