Oregon's offense has been the most successful offense in the past decade by a mile. They run practically no inside runs from the I-formation. Therefore, by your logic, we should cut that out too.
There are merits to all kinds of offensive systems and plays, and a sample size of 1 is not large enough to make any sort of conclusion regarding which is better. Please don't be an ass about arguing with someone else, especially when you have a shit argument. |
| 1 hour 15 min ago | Agree 100%. My problem with |
Agree 100%. My problem with this interview is that he said two things that, to me at least, don't match up. First, he complained about not being able to get into his playbook when the team doesn't execute. If you don't get enough "turns," you can't fully execute your offense, and it ends up functioning, and looking, worse. This is fair enough, and I don't think there's an educated fan on this board that doesn't understand and agree with this. But then he also said that he finds merit with running the ball up the gut when it gets you no yardage, as it sets up the rest of your offense (average of 0 and 34 is 17, etc). Again, easy enough to understand as a core concept, and very true. But a 3rd and 4 from your own 40, to use an example from the OSU game, is no time to set up the rest of your offense. If you want more "turns," and more opportunity to dig into your playbook, you need those 4 yards. When most educated fans say "stop running it up the gut!" it's not in response to a first down play that doesn't get any yards. That keeps the defense honest and we understand that. It's in response to those 3rd down plays that kill the offense. Borges seems to use the "setting the table" concept as an excuse for plays like that, where in reality it's not a good excuse at all. For the offense to function at its best it needs as many turns as it can get, and for that to happen we can't be running it up the gut on 3rd and 4 when we know it's likely not going anywhere. Setting the table is no excuse there. |

This sort of thing takes a ton of money to get off the ground, so while I do hate EA I am very skeptical. I would love to see 2k studios take another shot at it |

God this trend is so embarassing... thank god Hoke, etc aren't internet "savvy" |

The "natural order" is us beating them 100 times in 100 games, at this point nothing will restore that. Beatig them at this point proves nothing. |
| 6 days 8 hours ago | Gotta have MSU & OSU home |
Gotta have MSU & OSU home games on alternating years, in my opinion. Those are almost guaranteed to be the biggest conference games we play every year, with these new divisions. Hopefully we can start playing big name OOC opponents at home in years we play away to those two, and vice versa. |

I'll be there for sure, and I encourage everyone to do the same! The level of play might not be amazing, but the fan experience is top notch. If you like to get rowdy, there isn't a better fan section in the whole state, and that's coming from someone who's been to Michigan football and basketball games deep in the student section. We cheer for a full 90 minutes! |

Brian said he'd be making the change back at some time during this offseason... then again, I'm pretty sure he said something similar last year and nothing happened. |

Composite #126 WR in his class, other offers from Temple and Old Dominion... Can't say Sparty is likely losing a major contributer here. Funny story though. |

Looks like you're right on that one. So maybe not 100% ND's fault, but at least most of it. Boo ND |
| 1 week 2 days ago | Didn't we cancel '17 & '18 |
Didn't we cancel '17 & '18 before they canceled '15 & '16? And we are the ones who just added a new high profile opponent to the years where we were supposed to come off hiatus, essentially closing that door. Not saying ND doesn't hold some of the blame here, but it doesn't seem to me that they are "chickening out." |

It really would be a long strange trip for Big Will if he ended up re-committing this year, after he graduated. |

I'm not a terribly suspicious person when it comes to sports, and I realize that any suspicions I might have have absolutely no impact on the outcome of anything at all, but dude. Come on. |
| 3 weeks 8 hours ago | For the basketball/hockey |
For the basketball/hockey version, you could have one sport on one cover (like it was a basketball only preview), and one sport on the other cover, flipped vertically so that it still reads from the beginning as its own sport preview mag. ESPN Mag has done this for a few joint themed issues, iirc. Assuming you dont have any combined basketball/hockey articles, it could be cool, as both sports would start from the beginning of their respective side. |

| 3 weeks 1 day ago | That would make a total of 16 |
That would make a total of 16 commits in the ESPN 150, and 2 of the best 4 players in the country. Yes, please. Even if (slash when) we don't actually get a class this good, I just want to say how happy I am that Hoke has proven his ability to maintain the recruiting momentum he established in year one. It's not that hard to recruit going into year one at a major program if there's enough positive energy around the team, but to be able to not only keep that up but if anything improve upon the previous year's recruiting class each year has been extremely impressive. In 2 or 3 years we're really going to be seeing the fruits of this, and it's going to come in national championships. |

Oh my god that intro was completely perfect and hilarious. You don't always hit the mark with that sort of humor (though it's always appreciated), but you really did there. |
| 3 weeks 4 days ago | Those close ups on the lines |
Those close ups on the lines before the snap are part of what makes football the best sport on earth. Such an intense physical and mental battle on every play, the likes of which I'm not sure you'll see in any other sport. I love soccer (in fact I'm watching it right now), but seeing that was truly refreshing. Can't wait for football season. |

Iirc didn't Urban Meyer do this too? I know for a fact plenty of teams do similar things, I don't think Minessota"s "small" fanbase (which I think you are underestimating) has as much to do with it as Kill and other coaches being more open with their practice than Hoke. |

Seems to work fine for south quad and west quad. Also, try to refrain form using that word when others would do just as well. |

So... the Champion's League? Having an international league competition would be nice for the quality of play, but it would destroy everything that makes domestic competitions unique. I think the current balance between tiered leagues in every country and international cup competitions is perfect. |

| 6 weeks 1 day ago | After the game me and a |
After the game me and a friend were completely depressed and talked a bit about how it's bizarre people do this sort of thing after a loss. I mean, we had no energy to even get out of our chairs, much less run outside and burn things. I could see things getting out of hand after a crazy win, but a loss? It took me a half hour to get out of my seat. |

then you need to work on your sense of humor.
