Dude went to OSU to play football, was really good at it, and will now make millions of dollars doing it. I can't really fault the guy for not being "good at school."

You can never love Michigan sports "too much." But if your attachment to the team's success is causing you more sadness than happiness, then that might be "too much fandom." I hit that point a couple of years ago after a particularly bad loss (Rutgers I think?), and decided it was better to back off a bit. I'm better off now.

I always say an easy class isn't just a class with a small workload, it's a class with a small workload that you're interested in. You can take the "easiest" class at this university, but if you find it boring each homework assignment is going to be a pain in the ass. I try to balance easiness with some level of interest.
To that end, I always liked psych and soc classes. Below the 300 level none are really that tough. Creative writing (English 223) is similar if you're into that. Any of the project community classes (in the soc and psych depts) are great if you want to do some volunteering and get credit for it.

Yeah, I'm going to go out on a limb and say there were just as many fucks here (in Greek life, whatever) as in the 80s. You just get to see videos now.

I am already obsessed with this. Here's to a meme that people love for the next month or two and gets really annoying by September.

Hip-hop, and lots of it. Kanye, The Roots, Kendrick, and Lauryn Hill are my absolute favorites. Also fuck with Game, Killer Mike/RTJ, Chance, Jay Z, Doom, PRhyme, and plenty more.
TLOP is a great album. Fite me.

Eh, I've seen a RB around campus in a new Camaro with dealer plates, and certainly pretty much every player seems to have his own scooter - doubt any of that is paid for. Can't imagine they pay for many meals, either, and I believe people when I hear about players taking other benefits too. If you somehow think Michigan is the only big time school that doesn't do this, you're deluding yourself. As another poster said, do you really think big time recruits would pick living as a poor student at Michigan over living it up at other schools just because they love our team and ideals so so much? Come on.
That having been said, I absolutely think that certain schools make a practice of paying players more than others. Some certainly seem to make salary a selling point to recruits (Ole Miss, Clemson, Auburn, etc) - I think with us it's more of a "we'll play ball and you won't miss out, but we're not getting into a bidding war either."

Seriously though, IANAL too but how is commiting a crime using a computer fundamentally worse than doing so without a computer? Couldn't you just be tried with the other crime alone? Laws are weird.

COYS! I don't follow them now as closely as I used to, which is a shame because they're finally breaking through it seems. Good stuff from Spurs!

Good for Rashad, but it's silly to say that this means Harbaugh did the guy a solid by pulling his scholarship. Just because a victim of workplace harrassment makes out pretty well after suing doesn't mean his/her employer acted kindly or "helped out" the employee. It's a silly rationalization in my opinion.
Now, if (as some other posters have said) his scholarship was contingent from the get-go and he knew that by committing he wasn't guaranteeing himself a spot so much as raising his profile for future offers, that's another story. Is that what has happened with each of these offer pulls? That seems a little too convenient for me, and doesn't jibe with the facts of some of the other cases so well. Much as I'd love for that to be true.

An assistant taking a job as a head coach?! What an asshole, amirite guys?
In all seriousness, this is pretty cool. Seeing how the Meyer/Harbaugh coaching tree continues to bloom so close to us will be very interesting.

Good LORD people! Durkin has been a DC for three years at two very prestigious institutions, a coach for 14 years, and an interem HC at Florida. Maryland is an excellent opportunity for a first-time HC: a big school in a big-time conference, with great recruiting opportunities (relatively speaking of course). They interviewed Mark Richt for god sakes, and people are going to criticize DJ for jumping at the opportunity? Get a grip.
|25 weeks 6 days ago||After a full month of rest||
After a full month of rest and preperation, I would be pretty confident with our defense going into that one to be honest. I know people are really gloomy after IU and OSU, but those were always going to be really tough matchups for our D; LSU is much more one-dimensional, and I think we match up better on the whole.
I think it would also be really cool to see us play Florida (the analogues between their program and ours the past 4 years are eerie) or ND (for obvious reasons), but idk how bowl selection works so maybe that's not possible. Plenty of cool potential matchups though.

I think people are underestimating the impact having a legitimate threat at RB would have on this offense. It's been pretty clear this entire year that our RBs are somewhere between meh and awful, and it's hurt us a lot, even if we're too used to sub-par RB production to notice. Peppers is obviously a force on defense and should be even better next year, but I don't think it's as easy of a choice as Brian and co. seem to think.

Not to get too far into politics (who am I kidding, we're already there), but places like Amsterdam have had a huge amount of success curbing overdoses and addition rates by handing out heroin for free. It's actually pretty cool how it works, you can google it if you're interested. That's still a bit different from selling it per se.
|28 weeks 4 days ago||As I said above, nobody is||
As I said above, nobody is saying that this will stopp all gambling addicts from gambling. You'd have a hard time convincing me that it will have absolutely no effect, however. It seems pretty obvious that the availability of these things (i.e. supply) has a large impact on how much of it people end up getting their hands on.
I mean, if addicts are just going to get their stuff one way or another, why not sell heroin over the counter? It would help with tax revenue.
|28 weeks 4 days ago||People say this all the time,||
People say this all the time, but do you honestly think the availability of gambling opportunities has no impact on how often people gamble? Yes, there are plenty of opportuntiies to gamble already - that doesn't mean reducing those opportunities has no impact. Sites like Fan Duel are exceptionally visible and accessible. Do you really think that they drew in zero people who didn't already gamble, and that 100% of the poeple who used them will gamble just as much someplace else?
Nobody is saying that getting rid of those sites will get rid of gambling on the whole, but if it can reduce it, then the rationale behind this law is the same as with any other gambling regulation.

I don't think OP ever said that he didn't have blind spots, just that certain people do that are relevant to this particular situation that we're discussing. No need to redirect.
|29 weeks 2 days ago||Agreed. Great running backs||
Agreed. Great running backs do, on certain plays, set up their blocks by juking around them - but it's not the norm, and it's not how you're *supposed* to run all of your plays.
|29 weeks 2 days ago||The coaching staff has been||
The coaching staff has been pretty explicit about the fact that they call different kinds of runs for the different RBs - it wouldn't be that weird if he literally did get better blocking.
|29 weeks 3 days ago||I'm sorry, but I just can't||
I'm sorry, but I just can't agree on the RBs. Maybe it's true in a general sense that Johnson has the best cutting ability, but you want Smith to do what here?
The blocker he's reading is opening up a hole exactly where he should be. He can either go through that hole (for what would likely be a TD if Glasgow held his block), or what, cut into the two unblocked linebackers flowing from the backside? Bounce into the guy that's getting kicked out? I don't get it.
Meanwhile, Johnson's "cut" that you praise isn't really much of one, to my eyes. He takes such a horizontal angle on his run that he has no choice but to cut (although "turn" is probably a better word) upfield lest he run out of bounds. He ends up de-facto juking a guy because he's decently agile and the defender overruns the play - that happens with fast RBs, but I don't see it as a great cut per se.
I agree in a general sense that Johnson seems like the most natural RB out there, by a decently wide margin, and like I said that may be reflected in his cutting ability generally speaking. But I don't think this is a good example.
