Agree 100%. Anybody trying to defend this title needs to look at the FIFA franchise. They radically overhaul their gameplay ever single year in a variety of ways, despite already A) having an amazing game and B) being the clear #1 soccer game on the market. '12 was the greatest soccer game ever made, and then they completely overhauled attacking AI, dribbling mechanics, presentation options, and player contact physics (something NCAA, a football game, doesn't even have) for '13. For '14, they have an entirely new shielding mechanic, improved dribbling, even better defensive AI, and entirely new ball projectile physics. The NCAA franchise hasn't made a single improvement like that in years, much less a half dozen a year. They just try to make the presentation a bit flashier, give the game a few more tackling and catching animations, and fiddle with the sliders to try to fix gameplay issues. Yes, FIFA's budget is much higher. I understand that's the reason, but it's not a good enough excuse for me to buy NCAA games. Wake me up when NCAA has a physics engine that makes sense (not just a set number of animations for tackling that players are sucked into), or blocking mechanics that even remotely imitate the actual game. Until then, I'll pass. |

His quote came out of a joint interview with Wesley Green, and Key's comment was tack on response to : "They help you out and make sure you get your work done. If you're struggling in a subject, they have a certain tutor that helps you in that subject that will help you out with getting your grades up or whatever the case will be. I think that's really important to me, just because after college, you want to have a backup plan to football."

I don't have a problem with coaches trying to hammer home values in kids. Yeah in a perfect world they can be left unsaid, but I'm sure this sign actually helps a lot of kids on OSU keep their priorities straight. It does seem more like a list of "things to avoid doing so that we don't have to suspend you" list than a list of actual "core" values though. Treat women with respect? How about treat all people with respect. And I can think of about 100 things higher up on my list of values than "no drugs" and "no weapons." But again, those are the things college kids get in trouble with the most, so I understand the sign. Though the motivation behind it might be geared more towards "keep kids out of trouble with the NCAA" than "make kids into better men," it has a good influence regardless. |

My signed postcard from Tae Odoms for donating to the #EATING kickstarter! Reminds me of why our team (and school) is the best one out there, and where our priorities truly lie as a program... building Michigan Men. |

Taylor played very well, he didn't score but he assisted on at least one goal and came up with some very dangerous passes throughout. I was very impressed with his ability to play other players in on goal with his headers, and he came up with some good crosses, too. Definitely still on the team. And cosign that last bit 100%, everybody should go out for a game, the people there are the most enthusiastic group of fans I've ever been around and it's an absolute blast. |

Jesus, if this comment thread was on RCBM I'd be laughing my ass off. First we have someone saying that Howards Rock (yes, a rock) broke simply because it had people rubbing it every Saturday in the fall, then you have someone excusing that logic because bigger guys "don't know their own strength" (as if a offensive lineman could just accidentally smack a rock in half), and then you have someone saying that his argument is stupid because he doesn't see how being bigger correlates to being stronger. FFS people... |

The dude has (at least) 2 personal trainers, and on top of that I'm sure he's talked to Wellman, etc about his routine. They're all more than qualitfied and know not to work him out to the point of injury. |
| 6 days 6 hours ago | Money is not an issue with |
Money is not an issue with Ivy League schools. It's really shocking to me that people don't realize how much financial aid Ivy League schools give out. They get their money from billionaire graduates donating, not tuition, and they are happy to let people attend for very little. The only people who pay the sticker price are millionaires and legacies. As someone who looked at Ivy League schools in his college search last year, I was told lots about this by the schools themselves. Ivy League schools (especially the best ones, i.e. Harvard, Princeton, Yale, etc) give out need-based aid to 90% of students. Not need based like "fill out the FAFSA and if you're below the poverty line we can give you some loans," like actually fair, need based aid in the form of grants. At every school I visited I was told that my family should not expect to pay more than 10% of their yearly income on tuition. For most people, this is fairly comparable to in-state tuition at Michigan. If it's something you find yourself strongly considering down the line, talk to the schools about it! Trust me, money is the one factor these schools do not want holding back applicants. |
| 6 days 6 hours ago | Said this in the board post, |
Said this in the board post, but I'll say it here to: To everyone unsure of Hand's excitement over Bama's engineering program, while ours is clearly superior, you have to realize that our program is extremely intense, both in course difficulty and in workload, and your average football player can't just take a couple of engineering classes, pass them easily, and walk away with a degree. Guys like Jordan Morgan are absolutely the exception. What I get from him being impressed by Alabama's program is less "it's the best I've ever seen!" and more "it's the best I've ever seen that I could reasonably balance with being a star athlete at a major university," which I think is reasonable. The head of the department being a "football guy" just says to me that he understands what Hand's football workload will be like, and won't make his life impossible with academics, as Michigan's elite engineering program would do. |

I see what you're saying, and I agree. If I had to choose, I'd much rather have these threads and drinking threads but no random pics of girls in general football threads, than the other way around. But just on principle, I'm against the trend in general. |
| 1 week 1 day ago | I'll bite |
I've always taken pride in mgoblog's level of discourse being higher than most internet message boards, and for me posts like this (centered entirely around hot girls) are becoming all too regular for the mgoboard. I remember a time where people were upset at people posting suimsuit models in random threads, but now they seem to be everywhere. For me, it's just one step closer to RCBM's "favorite MILFs" threads (yes, those are a thing). Too prudish of me? Possibly. I wasn't upset enough to trash the OP or any of the posts in the thread, but in my mind a post like this is at least deserving of a downvote. |

Will someone ban that guy's IP or something, for god sake. He used to be a shit poster, now he just intentionally trolls. He's lost his posting priveledges as far as I'm concerned. |

Well I wrote all of that to hopefully start a bit of a discussion on what people think of the issue of how athletes are remembered... but sarcastic responses that add nothing are cool too. |
| 1 week 2 days ago | I'm going to be perfectly |
I'm going to be perfectly honest here, and this is coming from someone who idolized Denard for a solid 4 years, whose only jersey is a #16, and who ate up everything Denard related for the past 5 or so years... I'm just not that interested in a piece like this right now. There was just so much content during his time here and immediately afterward, from articles projecting his career to articles celebrating his time in uniform to articles looking back at a career well spent at Michigan, and I loved all of it, but for now I've moved on. There will be a time where reading these articles will stop being about raving over how great Denard is, and will transition to being nostalgic about one of the historically greatest wolverines to ever play for Michigan, but it's just not that time yet. It will come, but for now I've moved out of the idolizing phase and have yet to move into the true historical appreciation phase. This is nothing against the other Brian or his blog (or even this piece), just something that was on my mind. |
| 1 week 4 days ago | Honestly, with the ability |
Honestly, with the ability this staff has shown to mold D-linemen (Heininger was a good starter and Quinton Washington is a potential All-B1G guy... think about that), I'm starting to care less and less about the D-line recruits we're bringing in. So long as we have enough of them and they have the requisite physical tools, I'm happy. I mean, I could picture a scenario where Ondre Pipkins never emerges as a major contributer, and I think that would end up just fine because it would mean some other guy (or guys) soaked up the technique work better than him, and that put the other guy over the top. I think it's right to not get too excited about any given member of our DL classes, and that's not a bad thing. That having been said, I think Poggi has as good a shot to end up as a great starter as anyone else we've brought in. He might not have the frame to top out at the perfect DT size, but his attitude and style seem right up Hoke's wheelhouse, and I wouldn't be shocked to see the coaches take a liking to him immediately. |

Awesome video though, and awesome job by everyone involved at Mott's, as always. |

As a Lions fan, I'd be happy with it. It's a shame that our rivalry looks to be coming to an end, otherwise I'd love the schadenfreude to come out of it.
Oh who am I kidding, I'd love it regardless. |
| 1 week 6 days ago | They would want the new |
They would want the new scheduling pattern to take effect the same year Maryland & Rutgers join the conference & shift everything around. It wouldn't make sense to do it now. |
| 1 week 6 days ago | Not sure why they would. I |
Not sure why they would. I was under the impression that the only reason they're getting back to back home games is so that they can change who gets the home game in even/odd years. |

Agreed. I don't want a commuter school in the B1G (not that I wanted Rutgers, but still that's a major drawback imo). |

| 2 weeks 4 days ago | God what an idiot. He |
God what an idiot. He rejected the AD's apology in favor of a more mildly worded one? And claims that he didn't write it, but just took someone else's writing? As though that makes it suddenly ok, that the racist views he championed aren't his own, but just something that he wanted people to think was his own? The sooner he's out of a job the better. |

| 2 weeks 5 days ago | I doubt any RBs on our roster |
I doubt any RBs on our roster would get offended if we got a commitment from a RB, it's not like we promised them we would stop recruiting the position once they hit campus, that's the way recruiting goes. Derrick Green was in a class with 2 other RBs himself, and he joins about 10 that we already have. Competition is understood. |
