Kid dove. Bigger problem is that they call it like they MUST.CALL.PENALTY. He wouldn't have gone down without diving. Those plays should draw an unsportsmanlike flag. Two flags cancel each other out and replay down.

Brandon Lied from the jump

Harbaugh and Miles were NEVER considered for the job.  The "national job search" was a big sham, created to get everyone behind Hoke.  "Harbaugh's going to the NFL"...."Miles is staying in Baton Rouge"...If anyone really thinks Miles would have stayed at LSU over Michigan, they are crazy.  And the same goes with Harbaugh.  Hoke was the ONLY choice and the "job search" was just window dressing.  Mary Sue Coleman didn't want Harbaugh or Miles.

The meeting with Miles was basically to make fans and alumni happy.  Brandon can say, I never offered Miles the job because he made it clear that he was happy at LSU.  And he never offered the job to Harbaugh because he was heading to the NFL.  There are 32 jobs in the NFL and openings come up every year.  The Michigan job is 1 of 1 and may not open again for 10 years.  Harbaugh was able to use the Michigan job to leverage NFL money.  Miles was able to use the Michigan job to "show" loyalty to LSU.  It was a win, win for all sides.

You keep coming off as a clown.  If you don't know how reporting works, quit commenting on it.  My guess is, if Schefter reported that RR was staying, you wouldn't be questioning his sources.

This reads like it is written

This reads like it is written by a complete moron who knows nothing about media sources.  Insiders, typically, don't like to be outed or named.  That is why they are insiders.  And there are plenty of "insiders say" reports that are completely true.

Doesn't have to come from Brandon

DB isn't saying anything to the media but that doesn't mean anything.  IF (and that's a pretty big if, I'll give you that) Brandon has agreed to a deal with JH, the leak doesn't have to come from DB.  Let's remember there are two sides in a deal like this.

@WatersDemos

I agree with you.  I am on the side of firing him but it's based on the win/loss record and the belief that I don't think he can turn it around here....He isn't a good fit, IMO.  I don't hate the man, or despise him or wish ill will towards him.  And if he isn't fired, I will root for him to succeed.

Sure he is.

Sure he is.

815, at 4:08.

That is your point total....now, let's watch it free fall.  You should know, you CANNOT criticize Rich Rod on this site.  It is forbidden and you will now be punished.

I also REALLY enjoy all of

I also REALLY enjoy all of the "who would they get" talk from the fanboys.  As if, there are no candidates after Harbaugh.  Finding a coach who can go better than 15-21 in his first 3 seasons, shouldn't be that hard to do.  And if you guys trust Brandon so much, you should trust him when he fires Rich Rod, because it is coming.

Wojo is one of the better

Wojo is one of the better writers in this town and it is his opinion.  Since I my last post was deleted, I'll ask again....what has Rich Rod done to warrant keeping his job?  Is the defense better than it was at the start of the year?  Is the offense really that great or does it pile up a bunch of meaningless yards when they are getting blown out?

This team is a shell of the teams that Lloyd Carr had here, and I was one of the people calling for his head.  I just don't get what all of the fanboys on this site see in Rich Rod....please explain, while you neg me.  I'm sure you can tell by my total that I don't care about my points anymore.

he's a classless ass

There are some real sensitive

There are some real sensitive people on this site.  In about 2 weeks I have gone from +200 points to -115, because I questioned weather or not R.R. should come back.

I was a supporter of bringing Rich Rod in and I gave him a chance but winning a game 67-65 doesn't mean he has a clean slate.  I won't root against him, though.  I want him to win-if he stays.  It kills me to hear people say they are Michigan fans but they want them to lose so he gets fired.  If you root against Michigan, you can't call yourself a fan.

Well, I'm so glad that you

Well, I'm so glad that you have decided R.R.'s fate.  He will sleep better knowing that YOU have guaranteed it.

65 points against and he is

65 points against and he is back????  I guess we have lowered our expectations a lot around here.

Journalist aren't going to

Journalist aren't going to shit on their own, it's just the way it is.  The same way people on this blog still want to defend R.R., even though his record is horrible and he has shown no real sign of improving the defense.

Yeah!

you mean I'll only be -47?  I'm sure I'll find a way to lose that extra point!

I'm sure if it's good news

I'm sure if it's good news for UofM, Valenti will still find a way slam Michigan.  They will spend 2+ hours breaking it all down.  Anything to avoid talking about how his Spartans forgot there was a game in Iowa last Saturday.

Will they say that Michigan

Will they say that Michigan was too severe with their own punishment?  That would be great news.....I think they will also say that Demar Dorcey can play and NOT even go to school!

NO

No, I don't think this team is better.  The offense is a lot better but there are still problems with it.  People keep talking about our scary offense, but 17,28,31 in the last 3 Big Ten games isn't scaring anyone.  Not to mention, our offense didn't start scoring until the games were blow outs.

And the defense is drastically worse.....They were 83rd nationally last year and now they are 106....and I don't see any signs of improvement, no matter what Rich Rod says.

you're missing the point

there are 2 differences between this year and last year's team....

Denard-much better than Tate the freshman, and arguably the best player in college football.

The Defense-100% worse than last year's defense.  And I can use those percentages because others feel free to just float those types of numbers out in defense of R.R.

Graham and Warren leaving make a huge dent in the d, I don't ignore that.  But this team lacks general fundamentals of playing defense.  That is plain and simply, coaching.

and another thing....

all of this crap about "who would want to come here".....Who wouldn't want to have a resource like Denard Robinson, as a Junior, to start their program off on the right foot?  You guys are just grasping at straws.

Are you guys retarded?

Denard is a great "football player"...not a great spread offense QB.  He isn't limited to this offense.

Do you guys really believe that changing the coach would be a step back?  And, where would it be a step back to?  R. R. winning percentage in conference is .200....I can't understand why people want to keep defending a guy who is only winning 20% of his conference games.

This team is WORSE than last year's team.  The ONLY difference is that there is a better QB, now.  Illinois is a Loss....Wisconsin and tOSU are loses.  Purdue is going to be a toss up, like the Indiana game.  And ANY mistakes on offense will land this team into another 5-7 record, no bowl game and a ton of questions.  Rich Rod is making excuses every week because he has NO answers.  It is getting tiring listening to this guy try to point the finger everywhere but the mirror.  This is is 3rd season, why are there little to no Juniors on defense?  Why are SO MANY people leaving?  Everyone who wants to defend Rich Rod has an excuse for all of this:  Warren took bad advice, BooBoo was a head case, JT Turner was not motived, Lolata was derp derp, Vlad was derp derp......At some point, you guys will wake up and see that the problem with this program starts ( and ends) at the top.

The people who want to keep R.R. are smoking some very good pot.

THIS TEAM SUCKS!!!!!  When are you people going to wake up?  It's gonna take 3-4 years to rebuild what?  To rebuild this garbage defense and special teams he has put out for the last 2+seasons?

If the only move made on the defense is to get rid of R. R., it would be addition by subtraction.  The experiment is over....let's move on!

"This crap about what's

"This crap about what's the record got to be?," said Brandon. "It reduces those decisions to something so simplistic, it's almost insulting."

He later explained, "You get a variety of inputs to measure the health of that program and the leadership that program is receiving and, based on a variety of inputs, you make decisions. That's what I do and anybody in my job does. But it isn't this, 'If you're 7-5 ... .' That's nonsense."

This comment also goes towards a 9-3 record.  Rich Rod is on his way out....BELIEVE IT!

Can we quit saying our offense is Elite?

Denard is elite....the rest of the offense is still questionable.  The running backs are averaging 2.9 yards a carry and our receivers/tight ends drop a shit ton of passes.  The offense has gone long stretches without scoring and that has been a trend in all 3 losses.

The offensive line has been lights out....they deserve a ton of credit.

Yes, you're fooling yourself.

Yes, you're fooling yourself.  They were down 28-10 before the offense decided to show up.  And They still lost the game by 10, with PSU kneeling inside the 5 to end the game.  It was another blow out loss and I am stunned MORE people aren't calling for an end to this disaster of a hire.

TWICE

and not ONCE have I made a comment about MSU....because I don't care about them.  But let's keep talking about big bad Sparty so we can avoid talking about how this team is on the verge of becoming the laughing stock of the Big Ten, again.  I can now see why so many people call Michigan fans arrogant.  It seems that most of you on this site are Maize and Blue color blind and/or complete idiots.

blow me

I can still have an opinion....I remember reading posts about how MSU boards are covered with posts about Michigan and pathetic it makes them look.

Who's looking pathetic now?

Who cares?

Why are we reading posts about what is going on at MSU?  I thought this was a Michigan blog.

What's the next post going to be?  "Dantonio wipes his ass back to front!"  This is a stupid topic.

thanks for the answers....

I asked a simple question and stated my doubts.  Instead of getting an answer to my question, I get neg'd down 50+ points and told in a round about way that I am stupid for worrying about the direction of the program.  I would like someone to tell me what was so wrong with what I asked......

I wouldn't put money on the

I wouldn't put money on the OSU game but you can never tell how that game is gonna turn out.  Last year's game was a lot closer than I expected it to be and if Tate hadn't thrown so many picks, it could have been a different outcome.

If they can protect the ball (unlike the last 2 games), it will go down to the wire.

You could bring Vince

You could bring Vince Lombardi in, and he couldn't lead this team to an 8-4 record.  We will be lucky to see 7-5.

18 loses

18 loses in 31 games doesn't really fit in with the tradition of this program....I guess that's just me though.

Joke but...

if Urban Meyer were 13-18 over the last 2+ seasons, people would be calling for his head, too.  Fair comparison, though.....How many National Championships has Rich Rodriguez won again?

I'm asking a simple question

My post asked a simple question and most of the responses are excuses.  Yes, Michigan outgained Iowa today.  But when you look deeper, Michigan had the ball more and Iowa had very good field position on most of their drives.  And oh yeah, the last time I checked, you didn't win games by having more yards than your opponent.  I see that almost everyone has completely ignored the fact that Rich Rod has 2 home conference wins in 2+ years.....

I also find it quite funny that at 13-18 people are not more up in arms.  Lloyd Carr was getting lambasted by a lot of fans for going 8-4.....

I said I was asking the question

I knew I'd get neg'd....can't ask a simple question on this site.  Can't get a straight answer, either.

Really???

This is exactly why the NCAA rules are completely F****d up....

“I heard that the missing piece to the puzzle was a kid in California,”

This is the type of thing that every former player, (from every school) might say to potential recruits.

The really stupid part to all of this is that I could see the NCAA slapping them on the wrist for it.  They don't do anything about the Troy Smith stuff, TPryor stuff or Mo Clarette stuff but telling a kid he's the missing piece to the puzzle, that's crossing the line!

Promises

Most likely, there were promises made to Gardner that he wouldn't be redshirted, and he would be given the opportunity to compete for the starting spot, if he signed with Michigan.

Not obsessed with MSU

I really don't care about Sparty but I am curious about the consistency of OUR media.  The national media doesn't really care about Sparty.  But the local media would be all over this Sims arrest if he were attending Michigan.  Again, it isn't about an obsession with Sparty but wondering when some balance is going to show up in our local media.

There would be no less than 3 articles about how Rich Rod is recruiting "anyone" who can help them win, with no care for the University.  But Dantonio isn't held to the same standards.  And I realize that U of M and MSU have different standards internally but the media should report the same way, regardless of which school is in question.

MSU has around 15 arrests in the last 2 years and I don't remember 1 from Michigan.  But our local media still portrays Dantonio as a disciplinarian and Rodriguez as a maverick.

Ball control

If Michigan can eat up a lot of clock (like they did in the first 2 weeks), they will beat Sparty pretty easy.  If it's like today, it will be a nail biter.

Classic Letdown game

hopefully, today's game against UMass was a classic letdown game too.  The defense needs to be much better going forward, than it was today.

Agreed

I can already hear Valenti making some of those exact comments you are referring to...So, I have to call for a personal ban of 97.1 for the next week.  I need Sirius or something, to keep me away from crap radio anyway.

$160 isn't that much Who wouldn't pay $160 to be in the presence of Jesus Christ, himself? He sacrificed for our sins, he should get a little on the back end.
Minnesota Had Their Chances If Favre doesn't make that completely idiotic throw with under a minute to go, we aren't talking about this.
Honest Opinions are great Giving your honest opinion is great. My honest opinion is that you don't know what you are talking about. I brought up Missu and Kansas because you said you can't succeed with small QB's. Was Daniels 225-230 when he was a freshman? I doubt it. I don't think you are wrong for criticizing Tate. I just think you are going overboard. Were you saying all of that when they were 4-0? I'd bet you weren't. How you somehow find parallel's between this post and the condition of the State of Michigan, shows how delusional you really are. You want a 5 star QB, right? Look on Rivals and tell me what Gardner is right now? Tate will be much better next year and I'm sure you will be one of the guys touting him for the Heisman. I'm sure you tell everyone how you wanted Tom Brady to play over Henson, too.
Real Eye For Football? Now this is a dumb post. First, who is Gardener? Second, let's not forget that he was a true freshman. He needed to make smarter plays at times but that will come with more on the field maturity. Like I said in a previous post, I don't think he should go un-criticized but this is completely stupid. He will get bigger with age and he is faster than you are suggesting. I was pretty impressed with his feel for the game and ability to read defenses, early in the season. It wasn't until after his injuries, when he started to make "poor decisions". This isn't the day of Doug Flutie??? But Chase Daniels and the dude from Kansas (sorry, can't remember his name) didn't seem to struggle because of their size. Tate will be fine. I said it earlier, I didn't like his off the field stuff at times. But he showed flashes of brilliance on the field and I don't see any reason to believe he won't continue to get better. Devin Gardner sounds like the real deal but if they open next year with another first time starter....
I have criticized him... I have criticized him and I will continue to, if he doesn't mature off the field. I was very happy with his play and I don't want to see a first time starter for the third year in a row. Ultimately, I want him to succeed. But when he goes on websites and posts that he is going to transfer and stuff like that, I think that is worth criticizing. There are far more things to like about him, rather than dislike. But criticizing his play at times or not liking what comes off as a lack of maturity (right or wrong) doesn't mean I don't think he can and will win here. I still believe he will (and should) be the starter next year and they will be a much improved team.
Not a Mayweather Fan I don't like Floyd at all. He is a clown and bad for the sport, if you ask me. But he isn't asking Manny to do anything that he, himself wouldn't be subject to. If Pacquio's people don't want to do it, there is a reason and it isn't "superstition". Floyd Sr. has been saying that he (Pacquio) is on something, based on the fact that he started a such a low weight class (110 lbs, I think). I think it is kinda fishy that someone would start so small and move up multiple weight classes and carry his power with him. Cotto said he had never been hit that hard. If Pacquio doesn't do it, he will face a lot of scrutiny for the rest of his career. If he says okay and Floyd Jr. finds something else to complain about, that tells me Floyd doesn't want the fight.
