Man, Drew and Mike were awesome. Haven't listened in a few years due to living in Cali and Texas, but they were always funny.

Anybody know why? Did they just retire from it or what?

1 week 15 hours ago This is not uncommon

As much as I want to rag on Penn State for this, it's not an uncommon practice in college football for players to be cleared when they shouldn't be. I'll leave it at, I know some people who work for a major university that has done this in the past.

2 weeks 5 days ago It's funny because...

It's funny because the OP accidentally typed that they were "fiends" instead of "friends".

4 weeks 9 hours ago Fantastic Idea

I've seen this idea (or variants) thrown around a few times and I really like it. I suppose the only sticking point would be how to track each student's data. Perhaps they'd have to start scanning MCards too? Then somebody would need to build the database and find a way to link the MCard input to the ticket scanners. Very possible, just may take a lot more work than it appears on the surface.

6 weeks 5 days ago I was waiting for this

Been waiting to read this kind of post to say this: kindly, fuck off.

To the OP: I've been duped before as well and to this day makes me feel like a moron, but sometimes things get the best of you.

7 weeks 10 hours ago Fund Raiser?

I don't know, maybe all the alumni clubs can put together a pool of donations for the $5000? With the amount of alumni, it doesn't seem like a big number to achieve, but I could be making it seem easier than it actually is.

A $20 donation would take 250 alumni to participate.

Perhaps a simple mass email to TX alumni club member would suffice to gauge interest or just outright ask for donations to the cause?

7 weeks 12 hours ago Last I heard

The U of M club in Texas didn't want to pay for the plate design. I wonder if that's changed? I mean, Staee has a license plate here in TX. That's embarrassing

EDIT: Here's the Houston Alumni Club's response to my inquiry:

We have been approached in the past by the vendor about U-M Texas license plates.

The programs requires an upfront payment of $5000 for implementation and art work.

The U-M alumni groups in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin put together, would not have $5000 required for the plate implementation and art work.

U-M Club of Houston

7 weeks 1 day ago Agree

I've played a lot of sports and this is pretty weird stuff. I've had coaches yell and scream at me and even kick a ball or two at players. If you can't deal with verbal abuse, don't play sports, but this physical stuff is crossing the line. Directly kicking a player or pushing/punching at them is grounds for a good old fashioned ass whooping.

8 weeks 1 day ago I'm a PL'er

I powerlift. I'm 5'7" and 165. I run a 4.74 40m on the laser. Please, tell me again how we can't move...

Also, I guess you don't think any other athletes use steroids either?

8 weeks 1 day ago Powerlifting Rules

So I guess a qualifying lift means your elbows must bend 90 degrees? Hmm, I guess I'll have to relay that to the powerlifting rules committee. I guess they don't go by your book.

8 weeks 1 day ago Training Specific

Training with gear is a whole different sport than raw lifting. You have to know how to use a shirt to get anything out of it. Plus, you end up training a ton of lock out stuff since the shirt doesn't do crap at the top end of the lift.

And yes, the whole point of powerlifting is to find the most advantageous way to move the most weight. That's why you see a lot of guys with big arches in order to lessen the ROM. Make no mistake though, this guy is also probably a serious raw bencher as well.

8 weeks 1 day ago Excuses

This is a common excuse people give for why they're weaker than someone who weighs less. Proportionally, I'm sure you're similar to him (lever length wise), however, some people have different length ratios that are sub/optimal for bench, squat or deads.

8 weeks 1 day ago Exactly

It's funny how completely ignorant most of the comments on this thread are. "He's a midgot", "why would you ever want to look like that", "It's Texas", "Powerlifters can't run 200 yards", amongst other idiotic comments. I assume mostly people who have probably never heard of single ply, double ply, squat briefs, and knee wraps, let alone been under a bar.

The kid has a fairly impressive equipped bench for that age. When I saw the title, I immediately though BS because I (stupidly) assumed it was a raw bench. All in all, nice lift.

8 weeks 2 days ago Exactly

Exactly why we looked so good. That's the OP's point. When other players get more involved, this team is hard to compete with.

8 weeks 5 days ago Why are you arguing?

It's stupid to argue over this point. Nobody said the offense was BAD. Some people are simply saying that the offense becomes one dimensional at times. Hey, maybe throwing down to the post to change up the look could help? Having multiple looks and threats is generally good, but hey you must know more than the rest of us.

8 weeks 5 days ago missing the point

Even if we don't have an effective post player (finishing wise), throwing down to the post can create defensive havoc by requiring a help side defender, thereby freeing up an outside shooter. It may not be our bread and butter, but it doesn't hurt to throw it in as a change of pace.

As for people who say the offense works great...I've seen many a times where the offense looks extremely predictable and one-dimensional. If TB doesn't stand on his head most games, this offense looks rather weak sometimes.
