I've been walking around…

I've been walking around with a labrum tear for about eight years, and this is why I have avoided surgery. I've been doing exercises to compensate for it.

Me too! And exactly. I've…

Me too! And exactly. I've been walking around with a labrum tear for about eight years. I do not want surgery and have learned to live with it, doing exercises, etc. But yes, I would not be able to play competitive sports with it unless I did the surgery.

WJR in Jersey

I can pick up WJR in the Philly suburbs of South Jersey. But when I'm in Metro Detroit, I can never find the right radio station for M football and when I do, it's all static. Sigh. Martin.

Martin Really Did

Martin assumed WJR need UM more than UM needed WJR. He expected UM to be WJR's "loss leader." Now WJR makes actual money from MSU and we have no radio station that everyone can hear Michigan football. Feezy HATED Martin and had nothing but contempt for him. And he really loved the attention the State admin gave him and the station. But as I said, Feezy is gone now.

It Was Also Personal

Bill Martin really, really, really pissed off then WJR GM Mike Feezy with outrageous demands. Martin took WJR for granted and MSU swooped in with big $$ for WJR and Feezy really loved the State people. But Feezy has recently left, so ... This was a major league F**CK UP by one Bill Martin.

Question about Q, Ash, Countess

Mr. Yost, would love to know if Q and/or Ash will ever make a contribution -- especially considering depth next year. And how soon will Countess see the field? He seems to have elite talent.

Stat Box

This is really bothering me. Even when the stats are working and on the screen, the numbers are too small to read. Can't believe Mr. Creating the Future botched this. Why not use the side-panels for a dedicated digital display of down and distance and yardage stats. And that would leave more space for video. Whey use 30 percent of the screen for stats that don't work and can't be easily read. Now that I've seen the scoreboards up close, I think it would be easy to add panels for a digital stat display.

Thank You!!!

Thank you so much for sharing. Love this stuff. Absolutely fascinating!!

No Buzz

I was thumbing through the roster this morning and had the same thought about Poole. I actually thought he had a chance to make more of an impact than Jones and was very surprised to have heard nothing about him. Hearing absolutely no buzz is always a bad sign, notwithstanding the 'he's only a true frosh' bit. Even if a frosh redshirts, you want to hear something positive about how they're progressing or what their potential is. I did see him on the sideline Saturday. So he exists.

He Is, In Fact, Listed in the Directory

Yes, his name is Gerald Richard Yerden II and he is indeed enrolled and in the Directory. From the Media Guide:

Personal ... Gerald Richard Yerden, II was born October 1, 1993 ... three-time power lifting state champion in high school (2009-11).

Cam and Ryan Together

With the notable lack of playmakers on D, one would think Mattison will figure out a way to get Ryan and Cam on the field together.

Nathan Brink, Superstar Great discussion. I've also been hearing great things about Brink. I was watching one of the official videos and saw a great play from a # I didn't recognize. When I looked it up it was Brink. There's a great story from Bo's early years of a small, short, walk-on nose tackle who became a multi-year starter. Just great technique and toughness.

Martin Took WJR For Granted

The former GM at WJR, Michael Feezy, knew nothing about sports. All he knew was that Bill Martin was a jerk to him and WJR. Michigan was a loss-leader for WJR. They made no money from M directly. And yet, Martin was trying to squeze yet more out of WJR. Then along comes MSU and they offer to actually pay WJR and offer a true partnership. It was a no brainer for Feezy. What's dissapointing is that Brandon couldn't win WJR back. They signed an extension with MSU a few months ago. And now Feezy is gone, too.

90 percent rain at 1pm

Just checked the latest weather. 80 percent chance at 12, 90 at 1, 100 at 2. Good thing it's warm and the winds are calm. Oh, wait ... Thank god for BTN. My wife won't let me take my 4 yr old and I have to stay home with him ...

Shocking

Umm, What the hell are you doing living in downtown detroit?

A Societal Experiment

I agree completely. Although I'm very far from being a sociologist, I have to say I've been fascinated by what has occurred in this "community" over the last year or so. It's been as if this has been a societal experiment in how fissures and deep divisions develop in a once unified, homogeneous society -- mainly based on irrational emotions and personal enmity brought on by a decline in said society. Where facts are used only to further an emotional position. Where some live in an alternate reality. Where brothers want to kill each other -- or just neg-bang them to oblivion. Would love to hear from someone who knows more about this.

Hard to Believe

I find this difficult to believe. RR is an absolute laughingstock to MSU people. They love him. He is their John Cooper. They are terrified at the thought of him leaving.

Fair enough

Fair criticism. But my point is, JH doesn't have a "his way" like RR did/does. He didn't invent an offense like RR did -- which is all RR knows how to do. Okay, some think JH is a "dick," but nobody accuses him of being an idiot. JH will do whatever it takes to keep DRob.

Ideally

Ideally, RR just "becomes" Maryland's coach (or elsewhere) on Jan 4th without really being fired by us. He deserves to land on his feet. Then on the 5th, JH is announced our HD. So, many might ask why has RR been recruiting so hard for UM. Because he's working on building relationships that he can turn to when/if he's coach somewhere else in a few days. Just a theory.

Exactly

I think the differences will be slight and gradual next year. And I think JH will be able to sell DRob on improving his worth to the NFL by quarterbacking a more diverse offense -- and perhaps slowly learning other positions.

Thank You for Posting

Thank you for posting. I'm here bc I'm looking for news on the situation. This is very interesting information.

I remember

I remember when this board was a safe place to intelligently discuss what everyone wanted to discuss without being maligned. Instead, it's turned into a cross between MLive (childish and shrill) and Scout (cultish, don't go against what the cult leaders say). Too bad.

MSU and OSU

FWIW, I get the same thing from about a dozen MSU friends and a couple of OSU friends. They are terrified of JH. To them, it's party over if we do indeed get him.

Difference Between Mallett and DRob

Assuming JH is here Jan 5, I think the Mallett and DRobs situations are totally different.

RR is/was/always will be a system coach. It's his system. He's always going to run it. That's who he is. Mallett was totally wrong for the system. And -- how can I put this -- he was a jerk on way out even before RR was hired. His teammates hated him. Thus, there was no way these two would stay together.

JH is not a system guy. He is a master motivator who has run multiple offenses, including the zone read option. He's more the CEO type head coach. Someone who evaluates his talent and tailors his schemes accordingly. And hires the right asst. coaches at the right times to match what he needs at any given time. Plus, DRob is a great guy. Everyone loves him.

My guess: on Jan 5, even before JH steps up to the podium, he will have secured DRob for 2011. JH will do whatever it takes to keep the top Heisman candidate, even promising him that he can stay at QB.

Dennisblundon, Um, Jim Jones ring a bell?

So, now I know what it was like to be in the Peoples Temple of Jim Jones. Put the koo-aid down, dude. It will kill you. Come back to reality. People who think your Dear Leader is not the right fit for his current job are not evil and don't deserve to be cursed with vile words.

Why?

Why? So we can find out what some 17 year old had for dinner?

Great Middle Linebacker Recruits

I was just looking at the Rivals/Scout lists this morning. JH has two four star middle linebackers from NJ and GA, two states we've had success recruiting from. According to Scout, they are the 9th and 11th ranked MLBs in the country. I would think we'd have a decent shot at them once JH is hired.

Well ...

At a cost of $1.27 billion a piece, and billed as the most advanced weapon of war in history, one would hope the damn things work in the snow. It does snow in Iran, and they may need to visit there soon ...

MSU

Yes, because we all know how important it is for any Michigan team to beat Mississippi State.

Wangler

This game was one of the first I remember watching as a boy. I remember one of the announers saying Wangler had promised to be back healthy the next year. And what a year that was -- a Rose Bowl victory. Also, I remember Mike Jolly being injured in that game.

Master of the Obvious

DB could have done worse if he had kept RR. Hey, Master of the Obvious -- RR is gone and JH is coming Jan. 2.  It can't be any more obvious.

Yes, There Is

I rarely post, but I have to say I'm amazed at these 'enough of this' posts. I am here, on this site, to read about RR/JH. I'm fascinated by the situation. There is nothing much else going on. Michigan football this month is all about RR/JH. The bowl is a sideshow. If DB were going to endorse RR, he would have already. There is obviously something going on behind the scenes that will affect Michigan football for the next decade or more. This post was outstanding and interesting. The author should be congratulated for his good work. And I will be checking this site every few hours for any tidbit of news/analysis about this situation.

Kovacs

Kovacs just has "it." An innate sense of where to be and how to tackle. Even when/if our D becomes good (G-d willing), Kovacs will have a place in the starting 11. By 2012, he may even be a 2nd/3rd All-Big Ten type.

Right Tackle

Anyone else surprised/concerned that Schofield hasn't eclipsed Dorrestein the way Lewan beat out Huyge? Looking back over the years, it's always been a great indicator of future success when a redshirt freshman cracks the lineup on the OL. I know we have one. But I'm greedy.

My Three Year Loves Michigan

I also have a three year old son that I'm successfully "brainwashing," as my football-hating wife likes to say. He loves Michigan. Whenever I'm watching football and it's not Michigan, he gets upset. "This isn't Michigan. I want to watch Michigan." Then he repeats it twenty times -- as three year olds will do. Enough to bring tears to his proud father's eyes. And horrify his mother, who thinks this is all beneath her.

When this happens, I bring him to the computer and we watch the last game's highlights on the official site. He's spellbound, watching Denard run. He keeps repeating, "Michigan's the good guys." (In a three year old's head, there are only good guys and bad guys). When we watch Denard run, he says, "go, go go!" When we're on defense, he says, "get him, get him!"

This summer, I put a Michigan fathead in his room, next to Superman and Spiderman. That did the trick. Whenever we see someone walking on the street wearing Michigan gear, he screams "Michigan!" Then I took him to the Utah game. He was utterly fascinated by the experience. And shared his father's interest in the dance team girls.

And BTW, while his mother doesn't "get it," his grandmother absolutely loves Denard.

Go Blue! Have to get 'em while they're young.

Or This: CB: Turner, Floyd CB: Dorsey, Christian, Avery (Oye Freshmen) SS: Woolfolk, Vlad FS: T. Gordon (yes T. Gordon), Kovacs, Johnson
No, Not the Same The Becks and Rushes of the world are a response to the lazy, biased mainstream media. Lumping them in together is ridiculous. We need sports' version of Beck and Rush to fight back against the mainstream sports' bias against Michigan.
Bill Bill, having no bias at all is not bias. It's just different than what you're used to. Try it, it's refreshing.
But Those Who Live in Glass Houses ... Agree. But Chait's role in all of this has always fascinated me. He has brilliantly deconstructed the Fr--p bias against Michigan, but then he goes to work everyday as a biased journalist himself. In an earlier critique of the Fr--p he even said that the bias displayed by the Fr--p was very rare for the mainstream media. Really??
Ferentz I feel bad for becoming hysterical at the mention of naming Ferentz to replace Carr. Hindsight is 20/20. The blandness of Ferentz is looking pretty good right now.
Does His Approach Work for OL? My concern is whether the Barwis approach has/is/will work with the OL. This goes back to the WVU/Pitt game where the Pitt defense dominated the WVU OL. Does having smaller, quicker, more athletic O lineman who can "get to the second level" make them more susceptible to being dominated by bigger, more physical defenses? And, does all the extra in-season running and lifting (compared to other teams' S & C programs) wear these guys down as the season progesses? Are they hitting the wall? Does all the "extra" conditioning negatively impact the bigger guys on the line?
