"Hi Lizzy Seeberg"

Here's the worst sign of them all.  These Michigan students should be embarrassed.

FYI, Lizzy Seeberg is the girl who killed herself after claiming she was raped by ND players.

I know you're just being a

I know you're just being a douche, but I'll still reply seriously:

Yes, MSU has a great Packaging school.  It also has the best Nuclear Physics Program in the world, one of the best colleges of Education, a good business school (including one of the best Supply Chain programs), and many other highly regarded programs.  It also happens to be a respected research university, and the home to the most important Department of Energy research lab.

Is it as strong or as respected as UM across the board? Of course not. But you're the one who looks ignorant when you post shit like that.

I stopped the list there

I stopped the list there because I got the info. from this article, which only lists the top 100:

What? All I'm saying is if it

What? All I'm saying is if it didn't make financial sense for EMU to schedule a home-and-home with Michigan, but it does make sense for them to schedule a home-and-home with MSU, then that might be the factor that makes it "worth it."

Or maybe they get more from the gate at Michigan than at MSU since your stadium fits 30k more than Spartan Stadium.

Or maybe it's a combination of both things.

Happy?

Michigan may not have been

Michigan may not have been willing to let EMU keep the entire gate for a home game in Ypsi...

Like I said, the away team usually gets part of the gate, but MSU is letting the MAC schools keep all of it for their home games.

Really?

This is part of the "Celebrate the State" series MSU is doing with CMU, EMU, and WMU.

MSU is getting 3 visits from each team over the next 12-ish (I believe) years and in exchange, MSU will visit each of their stadiums once.  Most major conference teams don't venture outside of their stadiums much for non-conference games unless they're playing another "big" team--and even then, it's usually in some sort of "neutral" site.

Furthermore, usually the visiting team gets part of the gate, but MSU is letting CMU/EMU/WMU keep 100% of the gate for their home games.  The CMU AD called this game "the biggest event in Mount Pleasant history," and they actually added capacity to their stadium just for this game.

There are many things you could criticize about MSU, but scheduling a true away game at Central Michigan isn't one of them...

I didn't say the offense was

I didn't say the offense was "good."  He said that "MSU couldn't move the ball."  They moved the ball just fine, but it didn't translate into scores because of turnovers.

Of course I hope that our passing game improves.

To be fair (and yes, I'm an

To be fair (and yes, I'm an MSU fan and have said so many times before), MSU didn't have a hard time moving the ball against Boise.  In fact, MSU had more than double the yards Boise had... 461 to 206.  Le'Veon Bell alone outgained Boise State.

What happened is that MSU kept shooting itself in the foot with turnovers.  Two of them were in the red zone (one was at the goal line)... and all of Boise's points came off turnovers.  It easily could've been a blowout if Maxwell and the receivers were on the same page.  Maxwell was late on a few of his throws, and the receivers dropped the ball a lot (twice the ball bounced off an MSU receiver's hands and into the hands of a defender).

Their

The misuse of their/there/they're is one of my biggest pet peeves. Ugh.

The Buckeye looks more like a pizza...  my first thought was, why is Wolverine stabbing Sparty and a pizza?

I hadn't seen that this story

I hadn't seen that this story had been posted.  People are usually pretty quick to post newsworthy stuff.  The Izzo story and this one were the only ones I saw that hadn't been posted or discussed here already.  I also was the first to post that JoePa was dead, but it turns out that the website that posted it had jumped the gun.

So I've "broken" three stories on this board:  one MSU, one Penn St., and one UM.  If you want to consider that trolling, go right ahead.

The only negative athletic story I've ever broken on this message board was related to MSU...

I also was the first to post

I also was the first to post here that Izzo was suspended for a recruiting violation last season.  If it's newsworthy and it's relevant to this message board, I will post it.

Sorry, I guess.

Nothing to do with athletics.

Nothing to do with athletics.  The guy worked at the UM Hospital.

Not his e-mail.  They found a

Not his e-mail.  They found a thumb drive with the child pornography.  The guy who owns the thumb drive is Dr. Jenson, a resident who was specializing in pediatrics.

How is this trolling?  I

How is this trolling?  I posted absolutely 0 commentary about this, and posted a link to a source.  It's a story about UM, and this is a UM message board.

I've always admitted that I'm

I've always admitted that I'm an MSU fan and twice graduate.  I'm not here to flame, as you can probably tell by my points and how long I've been here... but when people start ripping on a man that I respect above almost everyone else in sports, I'm not going to be quiet.

Izzo is one of the most respected coaches in college basketball, both for his performance and his integrity.  There's a reason Beilein and Izzo like and respect each other.

1) Please link to legitimate

1) Please link to legitimate sources on Izzo negatively recruiting.

2) You say that for the "last couple of years," he has been "Heathcote v2."  Two seasons ago, MSU went to the Final Four and was one blown call away (Green getting hacked) from going to the championship game without its starting PG (Lucas had a torn achilles).  Last season was awful, but everyone knows that MSU had serious off-the-court troubles that ended with Lucious and Allen being kicked off and Nix being suspended.

3) The Wonders Hall thing wasn't a cover-up.  Stuart Dunnings, the Ingham County Prosecutor and a UM grad/booster (who is never easy on MSU athletes and gave Lucious a DUI after blowing a .07), had his team investigate and they found conflicting stories from the girl herself.  Basically, Dunnings dismissed the case after the girl told two entirely different stories on how it all happened.  Case closed.  It's not as if it went without investigation or scrutiny.

4) I didn't like the Izzo flirtations with the Cavs, but at the end of the day he did end up turning down a 100% salary increase... LBJ or not.

I'm not saying it was "good

I'm not saying it was "good sportsmanship," I'm just saying that it was walk-ons and role players doing it--not the starters or Cleaves, like some here said.  UM had 5 scholarship guys out there against 3 walk-ons, 1 role player who never amounted to anything (Chappell), and 1 guy who was a special talent but wasn't a starter (Richardson).  It wasn't as if Cleaves, Mo Pete, and Charlie Bell were out there with a minute or two left running the fast break.

Because anything not agreeing

Because anything not agreeing with the notion that Izzo left his starters in to run up the score is "trolling," apparently.  I was merely pointing out the fact that Izzo emptied the bench, and that none of the starters played the last 4 minutes of the game (and none of them played over 29 minutes).

The oop was Chappell to Richardson and it landed Chappell in the doghouse (I at least remember some chatter that Chappell did not enjoy the next practice).  I don't think Richardson got in trouble for it.

Cleaves left the game for

Cleaves left the game for good with 4:12 left in the game.  What was Izzo supposed to do?  Bench him for the last 10 minutes and just play walk-ons?  MSU was still playing against guys on scholarship at UM.  Izzo had 2 role players and 3 walk-ons play the entire last 3-4 minutes of the game.

I'm seriously amazed at people's "memories" of that game, like the guy who claims that Cleaves threw an oop to Richardson with 10 seconds left.  Unless he threw it from the bench during a timeout while the cameras weren't rolling, such thing never happened.  Izzo emptied the bench.

No.  Cleaves left the game

No.  Cleaves left the game with 4:12 left in the 2nd half, beginning the senior tradition of kissing the logo at center-court of the Breslin Center.

MSU played the last 3 minutes almost exclusively with Jason Richardson, Mike Chappell,  Steve Cherry, Brandon Smith, and Matt Ishbia on the court (that's 3 walk-ons).

I know that many people here

I know that many people here claim that Izzo negatively recruited against UM, but I've never seen any legitimate sources for this.  One thing Izzo recruits always seem to say is that they like that he doesn't negatively recruit.

Also, during the 114 - 63 game in 2000, Izzo did not leave the starters in.  Memory gets a bit hazy 11 years later, but Izzo had his bench play a combined 67 minutes (that's over 1/3 of the minutes).  The bench scored 30 points for MSU in that game.  And no one (not even Cleaves) played more than 30 minutes.  It's not his fault that he had Jason Richardson coming off the bench, or that UM couldn't stop the backups.  Remember... that MSU team ran through the NCAA tournament never having a game closer than 12 points.

Here's the box score for that game:

http://statsheet.com/mcb/games/2000/03/04/michigan-63-michigan-state-114

As you see, he went a lot deeper in his bench than UM did.

Izzo and Beilein are two of

Izzo and Beilein are two of the very best when it comes to balancing performance with intergrity.  Coach K is another one who falls in that category.  Calipari and Thad Matta... not so much.

Finally got a video (posted

Finally got a video (posted on the OP).

Sometimes coaches try to fire

Sometimes coaches try to fire up their team by getting a technical.  Didn't quite work out that way.  MSU was leading by 28 with 11 minutes to go, now they're up by 41 with 7 minutes to go.

He literally grabbed the

He literally grabbed the chair over his shoulder and then slammed it down while yelling at his entire team in the huddle.  It was hilarious.

With 8 returning starters on

With 8 returning starters on a top 5 defense, MSU will probably be top 15 going into next season.  The defense will keep MSU in games.

They also return 4/5 on the OL and a very good RB in Le'Veon Bell.

Georgia was the 4th best team

Georgia was the 4th best team in a stacked SEC.  Also, it's not like Georgia has a terrible kicker... he's the all-time SEC leading scorer.  He missed one, but the other one was blocked.

It took Michigan a lot of lucky bounces to beat a pretty average VT team, which got crushed twice by an average Clemson team which got murdered by a slightly above-average WVU team.

I agree.  After what happened

I agree.  After what happened in the bowl games, Okie State should be #2.

As for Clemson and VT... Clemson showed it sucked in the bowl game, but it also showed that it was clearly superior to VT by beating them twice by a combined 48 points... so I don't get why VT is ahead of Clemson.  That entire conference is just not very good at football.

Ah, my bad.  For whatever

Ah, my bad.  For whatever reason I thought it had been by 10.

I get your point, but I

I get your point, but I honestly thought that Wisconsin and MSU looked a bit better than the rest of the B1G.  Plus, Wisconsin's losses were all very, very close, while Michigan lost by double digits to both MSU and Iowa.

What's funny is Wisconsin outplayed MSU in the first game between them, but MSU won... then in the second game, MSU outplayed Wisconsin, but Wisconsin won.

Edwin Baker has a kid and has

Edwin Baker has a kid and has been passed by a special talent (Le'Veon Bell), so while it's surprising, it's understandable.  His touches are only going down next season.

Johnny Adams will get a draft grade and then decide.  He too has a kid, so that's a factor.  I don't think he'll go, because he's a guy that could go pretty early in the draft if he bulks up and has another good season.

I've been reading a lot about her lately, and I'd love to get one of those bracelets.

Here's more on her from Joe Rexrode's blog:

" If we had lost, the Huskers

" If we had lost, the Huskers would have easily been in perfect position to go to the Big Ten title game instead of Sparty with a home win over Iowa next week."

That's just not true.  MSU controlled its own destiny going into this past weekend.  MSU would've made the Big Ten title game with wins over Indiana and Northwestern.  Of course, they'd still have to go into Evanston and win, but MSU still would've controlled its own destiny with a Nebraska win over UM.

To be fair, MSU owned Iowa

To be fair, MSU owned Iowa (UM's second loss) at Iowa... and UM's other loss was to MSU itself.

The Big Ten is so weird this year...

I've admitted many times that

I've admitted many times that I'm an MSU alum and fan.  But as you can probably tell by my mgopoints, I'm not here to flame.

That's what I meant when I

That's what I meant when I said they aren't as petty about their hate for UM as Dantonio is.  He said he wouldn't cheer for UM no matter what that meant for MSU.  The MSU fanbase seemed to feel otherwise.

The wind was insane, and

The wind was insane, and anyone who was in the stands can confirm that.  What you saw was all the hot dog wrappers and popcorn bags.  Looked like crap, but it wasn't like we were throwing trash on the field like West Virginia fans.

Wow...

This is awesome and

Wow...

This is awesome and embarrassing all at the same time.

It was originally posted on

It was originally posted on the RCMB Pro Combat thread as a joke. The helmet has the RCMB logo. It was then passed on to a few message boards (like SpartanMag), all of which identified it as a fake immediately.

Of course, the Freep ran it as a story.

Odds they made that up?  Must be pretty high.

Northwestern is going to

Northwestern is going to surprise some people, and their schedule is toilet paper-soft.  If Dan Persa can really rebound from the achilles injury (tough to do so as seen from MSU's Kalin Lucas), the 'Cats will battle for the division title.  Just a hunch.

Did you ever watch him play

Did you ever watch him play football?  Dude was a wrecking ball.  He was the best player on one of the best Big Ten defenses ever, the 1967 #1 overall draft pick, 2-time national champion with MSU, 2-time Pro-Bowler with the Colts...

Either way--RIP big fella :(

Yes.  If he were to add the 2

Yes.  If he were to add the 2 extra officials, Michigan and Louisville would probably make it.  It seems pretty clear who his top 3 are though.  Indiana seems full, but teams always find ways to make room for big-time players like Harris.

Completely agree.

Completely agree.

To quote Joe Posnanski's (SI Writer)  twitter:

"College football has flaws, problems. Then Mich. St. QB Kirk Cousins speaks and you think: Damn, they're doing something right."

He was talking about how kids

He was talking about how kids idolize B1G athletes, and then he said something along these lines:

"Like that kid today, who asked me if I wish I was as good as Denard Robinson... I said yes... but then I told him that Denard wishes he could run like me.  The kid looked a little confused, understandably."

Everyone laughed.

I personally know Kirk

I personally know Kirk Cousins from before he was ever famous (he was still battling with Nick Foles for the #2 spot behind Brian Hoyer at MSU) and I can tell you this is not an act.  Kirk is one of the nicest guys I've met and certainly the nicest college football player I've met. The last time I saw him (3 months ago or so), he was playing basketball with a kid with Down syndrome on a Friday afternoon (no cameras or microphones around, in case you're wondering).

He did have a Michigan

He did have a Michigan offer...

Andrew Maxwell...

Andrew Maxwell is MSU's next QB.  He was a 4*, Elite 11 QB in high school... so not exactly a no-name.  After that they have Connor Cook and Tyler O'Connor... neither was/is as highly regarded as Maxwell, but they both had pretty decent BCS offers.
