|4 weeks 3 days ago||it's the same old story||
Lower bowl is always sold out, so you're going to only get tickets to the nosebleeds. Half of the people with tickets in the lower bowl don't bother to show up to most games. Parking is horrible. You have to pay $10 or more to park over a mile away and then walk 20-30 minutes to Crisler, sometimes in horrible weather. Then after the game, you'll have to walk back. The entire trip is probably going to cost you at least $100 in gas, driving, parking, and food and that is just for 2 people. Game-times are horrible. Take the MSU game for instance; 9pm tip, drive an hour, get there 40 minutes early so you can walk and get to your seat on time, sit through 2 hr and 15 minute game, it's 11:15 pm now on a tuesday night. Get back to your car around midnight, 1 hr drive home...getting home at 1am on a night where most people have to get up to work. This is why you see so many old people at the games.
The ushers won't let you move down the entire game, even though those lower bowl people never show up.
It's just not realistic. You get a much better view of the game on your couch than paying all that money to sit in nosebleeds and taking all that time and effort to get to the arena just to be a "good fan."
Not really sure what the answers would be to improve the experience. Maybe put in a parking garage where the parking lot is next to Crisler. Lower the prices (not going to happen.)

Well, the original post says "principal," so go be that guy to the OP
|2 years 15 weeks ago||This doesn't pass the smell test||
I don't post much, but I'm reading these comments and I really want them to be true, but they just seem "off"
There is the claim that this has been an agreement in principal for nearly a month. A month ago, Michigan had just beaten IU, had 3 games left, and a potential bowl game. Do we really believe that the decision to fire Brady Hoke was done before the Northwestern football game? How does that even line up with when Brandon was "resigned" and Hackett took over?
If this were true, that the agreement was done in principal for nearly a month and that a week ago, it was a done deal, then the entire speech by Hackett about swim lanes and doing due diligence and all that was all just a bunch of bunk, because a deal was already done according to this.

put a different QB in the game?
I'm thinking what Hoke is meaning to say is that the ref told him that even if he did call a time-out, then DG would still have to sit a play...which is completely wrong, but there you go.
Thing is, there are about 5 QB's on the roster. Any one of them could've run out there and did a hand-off or you could run a direct snap to the RB. I mean, if you're just wasting a play, then go ahead and waste it.
Then once he found out that he could call a time-out, but Morris was already out there, then...call a time-out. There's some more dumn logic right there, "Well, the ref finally told me i could call a timeout and get DG back in the game, but I looked out there and saw Morris ready to go and said, screw it." Is that what an intelligent football coach sounds like these days?

that he had died and then he came back.
Makes you wonder...
|2 years 50 weeks ago||saw Ben Bredeson at the spring practice||
no way he is 6' 5" 275. I'm 6 4 and he was shorter than me. Nice to see the staff at WWE is in charge of these heights and weights
Still, he did get an offer, so there must be something there.
|2 years 50 weeks ago||ran it before, but skipped it this year||
We always go down and tailgate for the spring game. We get up early in the morning and it's a full day of drinking. Drink and tailgate before the practice, then head to AA and hit the breweries. Makes it kind of tough to get up the next morning and run 5k.
Were there bands and stuff playing along the side of the course? In years past, there were several performances being done as you ran along. Thought that was kind of nice before.
I have noticed that the bottleneck is always there with this race and it was hilly in the past. Did they run the same course as before? Most 5ks get sorted out by the first quarter mile. In the past, they even had signage out to try to seperate the faster and slower walkers/runners, but most ignore them. When I did run it, it took about the entire first mile to get sorted out. That's rough. I usually just treat this as a fun run and don't worry about my time. You can wait however long you want to start, though, as your time doesn't start until your feet cross the starting line. Considered waiting in the past, but haven't actually done it. I like a nice, flat course to try for PR's and such
I ask, because a couple of us are considering running this in the future, but we'd really have to tone down our spring practice day festivities. DId they use the actual banner this year or was it a mock banner? In the past, they used a mock banner, because they wanted to reserve the actual banner for gamedays and such.
I really wish they had this race another weekend. We have an hour drive and that makes it kind of rough to drive down and back for the spring practice and then come back to AA the next day. I don't want to get a hotel room just to run this race.

Don't get me wrong. I like Hoke and all, but I'm not dying to get a football signed by him. Is anyone else?

They keep saying that Purdue used up all of their scholarships and that is the ONLY reason that GR3 chose to go to Michigan. Has he said that? Why would it be so hard to believe that Michigan could beat out Purdue? Yeah, I know Dad went there, but sons don't always go to the same school as their dad. Is anyone else sick of seeing this?

for a Verlander or a Cabrera to finally pull someone aside and say, "You've gotta get this guy out of here. I'm tired of wasting myself only to see this bum pitch like that."

anyone that loves Valverde. Of course, they want him to succeed, because if he fails, the Tigers lose. That doesn't mean that anyone loves him.

a fat guy giving out "free" donuts. Remember, nothing is "free" when you're paying these prices for tickets.
Just what the people of MI need is more donuts.
They should be handing out carrots or something.

|3 years 50 weeks ago||Sorry about your situation||
but thank you for sharing and thanks to everyone else for sharing their insight into the problem. I found this post very educational and will be on the look out and I am not naive in any way whatsoever.
I've almost got pulled into 2 scams, myself. Someone mails you a postcard talking about something to sell you and then they start asking for personal information and wanting you to pay with a credit card over the phone. I had already given a ton of information without even thinking and then as I started to read off my credit card #, I got this weird feeling in my gut. I then simply said, "On 2nd thought, I don't want your book. Never contact me again and delete my information from your server." The person on the other side didn't even try to talk me out of it. I got a simple, "OK" and then they hung up. They knew I had wised up at the last second. The thought that went through my head was, "Wait! I'm going to give my credit card # to this complete stranger that contacted me." Beware of deals where they contact you. If you go out and seek something, it's one thing, but if they contact you with a deal...watch out
The 2nd one was when this company left an empty vial on my mailbox offerring a free water testing. I knew my water wasn't that great, so thought, "hey what a wonderful oppurtunity." I filled up the vial and put it back on the side of my mailbox just like the card said to do. A couple of days later, I got a call telling me how horrible my water was and that hey wanted to send a guy out. I said, "OK" and this guy comes out and tests my water again and wants to sell me this filtration system. As soon as he asked me for my credit card information, i started having this weird feeling. People need to trust this weird feeling. It is your brain telling you that something is wrong.
I picked up his card and walked over to my desktop and typed his company into Google. The entire first page was filled with entries of scams related to this company. I calmly picked up my phone, took a pic of the guy, and told him to get out. When I took the pic of him, he had this look of horror on his face. Then he packed up his stuff and left. I never contacted the authorities about it
The first one with the book, i put in google, too and it came back with scam entries. Thing about a lot of scams, they have already got some other people and they've talked about it on the internet and it will show up on google. Before making some purchase like that, it's good to google it.
|3 years 51 weeks ago||"The Zone" does exist||
I've been in it many times. When it happens to me, it's usually when I'm shooting a rifle. Everything falls away and you're just going through the motions and hitting everything. Nothing else matters right then and there. You just cannot miss. I don't think it has anything to do with luck or momentum. Many people have discussed having this feeling.
When Trey took the shot, I didn't think it was going to go in. Even after the shot went in, I figured it was going to just be another gut shot to us Michigan fans and either Michigan would find a way to lose or Kansas would find a way to win, I didn't cheer until Kansas missed the final 3 pointer and the last seconds ticked off the clock. Then I jumped off my couch and started screaming. It was a strange feeling, from the opening tip until the very end, I thought Michigan would lose the game and was just surprised at the end. This happens to me sometimes. As Michigan inched closer, I just started to get more and more irritated that they would actually tease me into making it close instead of just comfortably losing by 10.
|3 years 51 weeks ago||A lot of sports are rigged||
in Order of how rigged, I can list some
1) NBE (National Basketball Entertainment, not NBA)
3) WWE wrestling
4) NFL football
I can't believe this is still being questioned. The NBA has been rigged for years. Several people have come out and revealed this, but the NBA administration finds a way to discredit those individuals.
I'm just surprised that they players act surprised anymore. They already know what's going on. They could even be implicit in the fix as far as I'm concerned.
|4 years 4 days ago||Who's Horton?||
I just don't see JB using those guys at the 4/5. There's no perimeter threat in those 4 players. I think he likes his 4 to be a perimeter threat. We might WANT him to play that line-up, but I don't think we'll see it that often.
