Hail to the Victors-------->Hail to the Chief?

EE

Question for those in the know. I understand we have one EE. Does he count against last year's class? If so, how many open spots are there for this year's class, if we assume we do not suffer additional decommits from this point?

Interesting

I agree with you. Unless they can pass, catch, kick, block, tackle, etc., I do not believe they can directly affect the week to week results. However, if they become a distraction and indeed, as you say, make life intolerable for both players and coaches, how long before that negativity works its way into the recruiting pipeline and affects how prospective recruits view the program? I happen to believe that players make a system, and not necessarily the other way around. There is a reason recruits are assigned stars. Would a program where the lack of institutional (alum base) support is pervasive be attractive to you if you were a premium recruit? Just saying.

Fair Questions

Do I support Hoke? - yes.

Do I think it was a good hire? - emotions, aside, it remains to be seen. I thought RR was a tremendous hire also. I supported him, but I also think he may have, at least initially, placed himself above traditions which many consider sacrosant. I was not particularly fond of that, but I was willing to roll with it because I thought he could win. He may not have been given the time, I'll give him that.

Will we be relevant again? - when did we stop being relevant? Oh, you mean will we win? Yes, I believe we will win.

More to your point - it is a different set of circumstances. Unlike a presidential election, what choice did/do I have? I was not consulted, had no voice in the decision, and furthermore, because I was removed from the process, I am woefully ill prepared to second guess DB. Do I support the president (coach), yes, but I may not agree with him philosophically. More importantly, I support my country (school) more, if that makes any sense.

My opinion (FWIW)

RR was the coach of M. RR was my coach. I supported RR because I am all in for M.

Alas, RR is no longer the coach of M.

BH is the coach of M. BH is my coach. I support BH because I am all in for M.

Brian is entitled to his opinion, as I am mine. Isn't it great that we have this forum where such opinions can be expressed freely.

Go Blue!

Michigan Man

I grew up in Windsor, Ontario. I did not attend UofM. However, my every fall Saturday was filled with anticipation for my travels to AA for the next home game. I admired the essence of what, at least descriptively, defines a "Michigan Man". However its genesis, I feel the term Michigan Man helps define my fandom. I respect the program, the school, the tradition.I want to be a Michigan Man. I live in the hot bed of college football in the south, and despite the 24/7/52 Go Dawgs, Roll Tide and War Eagle, nothings rings more true than Go Blue! Does it really matter that I have no physical connection to the school? Surely, I am not the only one who feels this way?

Seriously...WTF

Why can't we hire a football coach already? Damn, this hurts. Of course, once this is over, we'll destroy our productivity chasing recruiting news. Is there something wrong with me?

Bill Martin

On the whole, I agree with your observations. RR was not a coaching change alone - it was a seminal cultural change that required patience and support. Perhaps some were not prepared for the magniture of upheaval (some necessary, some collateral) that accompanied the change. Although we have been witness to exciting players and memorable moments, in the end, it was regretfully, IMHO (as an RR supporter), a failed experiment. Let's move on.

Thank you for the heads up....

.....but you are taking all the fun out of my interminable CC anxiety! Where's Gruden? Anyone see Gruden? John, John....yo John...

Gruden?

I would play for that SOB in a heartbeat. I would send my children to play for JG. What are the cons? Perhaps he longs for the same "professed" temptress named the NFL that afflicted JH. I can deal with that. Not a "Michigan Man"? I can deal with that also - neither was Bo. Let's go get him.

Sir, you are....
