I can sympathize, but I prefer that drugs go through proper trials. If the results warrant it, they get fast tracked anyway.
Don't you want to make sure that the drug actually works before your nephew takes it?

It seems that the sportsbank guy took "USA" chants personally. This was pretty sweet...

I think you are over reaching. FERPA does not limit release of ALL student related records. If that was true, the student advisory review code you referred to would be meaningless since according to your interpretation, you can't review anything.
It is like arguing the university is violating FERPA by releasing enrollment numbers because that is derived from individual student records.
There are facts to these cases that the university can release without violating FERPA, like when the investigation was triggered, who initiated the review, how the board decided to expel a student. There is no reason for university to put up a wall with no recourse.

Based on title IX, the university is responsible for keeping a full record of all reported sexual assault and provide a process for handling all reports. Whether or not there was a formal charge, dies not matter.

Unless the Bucks are coming too, there will be no NHL hockey in Seattle. The proposed arena can only be built if there is an NBA team. Without it, there is no NHL approved arena in Seattle.

I can't believe people think that if Hoke is "meh" (i.e., goes 8-4) this year that he will be back in 2015.
Because most people are reasonable and not an idiot?

If he somehow ends up at Michigan, I would be all for it and welcome him warmly as it would mean he wanted to be at Michigan. Not having his mom's signature only matters for LOI, Malik can still attend Staee with full scholarship come fall. If he ends up at Michigan, that means he wants to be at Michigan. I don't know why anybody would not want the kid.

I don't think that block M is "regulation" size (too skinny). Brandon, aka Mr. Branding, would not approve.

As a guy with an Aerospace Engineering degree from Michigan, that is the dumbest thing I heard. We understood pretty well about the density of the moon. There was no chance that someone thought Armstrong would fall "hundred" feet down. There is a MOON LANDER that weighs thousands of pounds supported by tiny feet securely standing. Why would anyone think they would fall? I think someone was pulling a fast one on your expense.

I think he is going beyond that. He is basically mocking the entire student athlete concept.
I rather lose games, hell, I would get rid of football all together if we ever have Dexter Manley situation at Michigan.
This is an institution for learning. If incoming recruit does not care about that, they do not belong at Michigan.

There aren't that many schollies available for tennis, at least for men. And many scholarships go to foreign players. The chances of even top sectional kids getting a full ride is not great

No one gets to call a press conference and then dictate what questions the press can ask. If you don't want questions, don't have a press conference.

James Voskuil, who played with Fab Five and was an integral part of the team, was an aerospace engineering major. I had a few classes with him in Aero, and trust me professors in Aero couldn't care less about athletics and everything was graded on curve.
It is not for most athletes, but engineering is tough for most university students as well.

If it is a non issue, why was Gibbons expelled?
The Hoke's remark paints the picture that he is not taking this very seriously, fairly or not. That is the last thing he should be doing.
|5 weeks 2 hours ago||Hoke's misleading statements||
Hoke's misleading statements are not what bothers me the most. The fact that bothers me is that when Hoke took over, he did not do sufficient investigation to make sure having Gibbons on the team was not going to come back to stain the program.
There is no reason for a coach or the program to adopt, no charges no problem, stance.
He should have reviewed the police report, spoke with Gibbons in earnest and kicked him off the team if he had any doubt.
He may get off this incident on technicality, but if something like this ever happens again, he should be dismissed immediately.

I've worked at Microsoft and several other local tech companies, and most techies couldn't care less about football.
|5 weeks 2 days ago||Or they could say that now||
Or they could say that now they are employees, they are no longer eligible. I would think Northwestern wouldn't be devastated to go the ivy route and get rid of athletic scholarships all together.
|5 weeks 2 days ago||I think this is grossly||
I think this is grossly underestimating the complexity of this issue. College athletics is a very artificial construct built around the foundation of student athlete. It is not merely just a label.
If they are no longer a student and now are employees, why are they only allowed to work for just four years? Why do they have to be admitted? I don't think most university employees are students. Why would they go to classes? Why would they need qualifying teat scores or grades? Hell, do they even need to be on campus? Why can't they just fly in for games?
|5 weeks 2 days ago||One more point, if they are||
One more point, if they are now just employees, why are they only allowed to work for four years? Why would they need to take SAT/ACT? Why do they even need to go to class?
If Denard was cut by Jacksonville tomorrow, why couldn't Michigan take him back?
|5 weeks 2 days ago||More interestingly, what if||
More interestingly, what if women form a union and demand equal access to football. They can even demand that rules be altered to accommodate women in football next to men. It is one thing for private entities like pro sports to deny women's participation. It is another thing all together when it involves public institutions.

You are missing another possible ending, end of athletic scholarship. Ivy League already does this. It would end the argument that they are employees because the are getting scholarships.
