I applied 1993. I always wanted to be an aerospace engineer. Not because I wanted to become an astronaut, I wanted to be one of those guys in the control center. At that point, Michigan was #3 aerospace in the country, so I applied early and got in early. I was planning to apply to about 12 different schools, but after I got in Michigan early, I just applied to MIT. I thought I had a good chance there, and would have gone there if I got in, but I didn't get in. Best 4 years of my life followed... |

This is the why I disagree with Brian, who believes Internet will force the ala carte cable subscription in the near future. Cable companies own the entire vertical market forces from content generation to delivery, and they have no incentive to move away from the bundle model. I have very basic cable and don't receive TBS. Stuff like this is going to force people to buy into more expensive packages. |

Contrarian here. Credit Card perks is THE LAST thing I look for when selecting a credit card. What I want from CC is good rate, especially if you carry balance. Next, I look to see how honest the company is. Do they have tendencies to load you up with penalties? Do they change terms with little or no reason? These are MUCH important to you than any perks, which you will be paying for anyway. Capitol One is one of the WORST company to deal with. If I were you I would stay away from them as far as possible. I highly recommend getting a card from your local bank, or even better, you local credit union. They are most likely to provide the best service and rates. |

Most organizations hand out SB rings (usually with less jewels and whatnot) to everybody in the organization, including executives, assistants, trainers, etc. Some teams give out hundreds of rings. Hence, they do not fetch that much in the market. A ring liked this owned by a key player on the team is going to be worth much much more. |

Naive, innocence.... whatever. The fact is, with his naive actions and lack of education, he just made the Internet just a tiny bit worse. With this successful scam, the perpeturator is now motivated to do even more. He is probably located overseas based on the story, and he is probably recruiting others to engage in this fraud as well based on his success. By not educating himself and avoiding such on obvious scam, he is ensuring that other naive people later will face even greater scam offers. If people stopped responding to these kind of scams, they would go away. Because people like OP fall for them, they won't. |
