A great big thank you to both Nik and GR3. They were EXACTLY what every college basketball fans hope for from their players, humble, unselfish, and dedicated kids of high character who perfomed at the highest level. They represented Michigan the way it should be represented. Thanks to all of that.

I love how random Internet guys know what is good for GR3 better than GR3 himself. It is not like he has a father who played NBA or anything... oh wait...

This is one of the gutsiest team I have ever seen in my life. Scrappy as hell and played hard every time with quiet confidence. I could not be prouder how this team has represented my school. Go BLUE!!!!

I just hope this is the first step towards a long winding road to getting rid of athletic scholarships all together. Instituting that has led to all this. I would be perfectly fine watching a game between walk ons. If I wanted to watch professionals, I would be watching NFL.

That just argues that we should get rid of high school football and basketball since none of them are going to major in football in college. It is not like a math club...

10% of revenue in salaries would be quite generous for most businesses. For example, Apple pays less than that and they make 15 times the revenue (and many tens billions in pure profit than NFL
50% is a very skewed number because NFL players are a very select group. It is comprised of less than 10% of the very best from NCAA. They SHOULD be making a lot more than NCAA players who are not as talented or rare.
10% is probably right in line with what they deserve. If you count in athletes from non revenue sports, they are getting paid too much as it is today.

Why? Just drop the athletic scholarships. US is the only country in the world who provides scholarship for athletes. Just offfer need based scholarship like every other student and all this goes away.

Shouldn't we be hiring parents of 5* recruits for this position like Kansas?

I think people are mistaking what they want to happen with what is likely to happen.
It would be safer to assume that all three will go. All Mitch needs is one NBA team to say that they will take him in the first round. If you liked how he played last year and have a late pick, that would not be a bad gamble.

Best quote from Longhorn's board "just foul them every time! At least they can only score 2 points that way."

You are mischaracterizing what I said.
NBA players get paid what they get paid, because they are extremely rare. There isn't another system in the world that says you have to pay top 10% of the workers the same way the top 1% are paid.
There aren't dozens of LeBrons that you can pick up off the street. The NBA players get paid what they get paid because there only few hundred people in the world who can do what they do. There are thousands of NCAA players. The scale is not the same. There is no reason why you should diamond prices for bunch of cubic zirconiums.
That is my pet peeve with all these articles. The vast majority of NCAA players are not unique. There are thousands others who can fill their place (and do every year). To argue that they should be paid like NBA or NFL players who are far rarer is a fallacy.

Why wouldn't the university value gymnasts as much as a football players? The whole point of athletic scholarship was to promote diverse interest among students. If you take the revenue out, there is no difference in value between basketball players and soccer players to the university.

I address this in the post. The athletes are athletes. It is not like tennis players trying any less or wrestlers are not competing as much. They are doing exactly what all athletes are being asked to do, which is why they should be compensated equally.
This is just like why programmers working on Bing are getting paid in the same scales as the programmers working on Windows, even though Windows brings hundreds of times more in revenue than Bing.

Not vasectomy, but my daughter is a Pi Day baby born 12 years ago.
I will never forget that she was born on a Thursday as while my wife lay there sleeping on the hospital bed waiting for my daughter to come out, I was sitting there all day watching the first day of March Madness action.
It really could not have been timed any better.

You know what is really funny (really, sad) about McCarthy?
Even though she is on this crusade to stop kids from getting vaccinated, she herself has two MASSIVE bags on silicone in her body, for no medical reason whatsoever, and regularly injects her face with one of the deadliest toxins know to man (botox).
The utter hypocricy is just massive...

I don't think you understand probabilities.
Statistics gives you probabilities of an event happening. That is same for elections, investments, sports, gambling, etc. They are all treated the same way.
You may not win a single hand of a black jack based on probabilities, but over hundreds of hand you know what percentages of time you are going to win. By counting cards you can figure out when you have the best probabilities of winning. This is how a bunch of kids from MIT won big bucks in Vegas.
Math is applicable in all aspects if life. Some more predictive than others. But the principle is always the same.
