|1 week 4 days ago||Renew the ND series||
M and ND are the two most legendary programs. Need to play each other, if not every year, at least every few years.
|1 week 5 days ago||Except as a college student from Florida||
You get the cold winter and the hot weather if you go home for the summer. If was only based on weather, I think M would struggle.
But the opportunity to play for an elite coach at a legendary program is probably the real consideration.
|1 week 5 days ago||Did they even score this much in the 90s||
I remember some good goaltending with Shields and Turco that kept our opponents from scoring. Sure guys like Madden, Muckalt and Legg got a lot of goals but this might be better. Would like to see the stats.
|1 week 5 days ago||Aside from the D||
Is this M's best offense ever?
|1 week 6 days ago||I think it is unlimited||
There are limits on how many can dress for games and how many can travel but I think the overall roster is unlimited. Could be wrong.

|4 weeks 20 hours ago||Awesome win!||
While Kenpom predicted, I don't think Kenpom adjusts for not having Lavert. This is a big win!
|4 weeks 3 days ago||MSU||
I have never been for football. Big stakes next year. Probably the first time we will be favored there since 2007.
As for the fans, well I went to the Cold War (hockey) at Spartan Stadium and the fans were pretty bad. We had a group of about 15 and one of the guys in our group ended up in a fight although some other MSU fans did help break it up. That was a night game which probably isn't the best idea in East Lansing.
I went to Columbus as a student and saw us win. Their fans are pretty bad. We didn't have a problem but saw a lot of issues.
By comparison, I have been to Notre Dame 4x and Illinois once and never had an issue. Even went to the Texas-OU game once and that seemed civil although neutral site.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||There's always a chance.||
Per the website, 68% of the time, this guy is right every time.
|5 weeks 19 hours ago||just stop||
before it becomes the Big 20 and they add UCLA, Texas, Georgia Tech, Stanford, A&M and Arizona State.
|5 weeks 23 hours ago||OSU had 7 drafted in 2014||
With 9 early departures plus whatever seniors, this could be double. I am not saying you guys will be bare, but the players will be missed.
|5 weeks 23 hours ago||So they lose 9 early departures||
How many senior starters do they lose? How many will get drafted? OSU holds the record for 14 in a single draft (2004).
|5 weeks 1 day ago||Although it may have been when we hired Hackett||
Or got rid of Brandon.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||It's Iowa tradition to get blown out in the Rose Bowl||
I looked it up and they got blown out in 1990 (last appearance) and a couple times in the 80s. They did win it in 1959 during the Eisenhower administration.
I never really realized how bad Iowa is, they always seem like a tough opponent. But they really haven't won anything.
|9 weeks 2 days ago||Hard to say||
The 9-3 this year could have been 10-2 (that thing that happened) but also could have been 7-5 (Minn and Indiana).
I think similar to Stanford, the team may achieve a similar record next year, partly due to schedule. At MSU, at Iowa and at OSU are all very difficult games, we will likely be underdogs. And against Wisconsin and Penn State at home we will likely be only small favorites. The rest of the schedule looks very manageable so 7-5 would be a doomsday scenario and 12-0 the dream season in my mind.
9-3 would be my prediction if Carr was still coaching so will be interesting to see if Harbaugh can take us to a better spot.
|11 weeks 1 day ago||But a lot of those years it was other teams that tripped us up.||
2007 was Wisconsin, 2003 was Iowa, 2000 Purdue and Northwestern.
Penn State was as good this year at 7-4 as some of those teams.
|11 weeks 3 days ago||Only against Notre Dame.||
I don't think you ever want a rival to win unless it directly helps Michigan. Better to have Saban win another.
|11 weeks 4 days ago||Terrible||
How do we get 13 penalties for 117 yards and they get 3 for 30 yards?
I just hope it is home field advantage and we get the extra 87 yards next week!
|11 weeks 4 days ago||Wow||
What a collapse. Gave up 3 goals in last 10 minutes.
|11 weeks 4 days ago||Penalty shots seem pretty low success.||
Almost seems better to have a powerplay.
|11 weeks 4 days ago||How much time left?||
I don't have access.
|11 weeks 4 days ago||Ugly is ok||
|15 weeks 6 days ago||I dont think it is an automatic to punt there||
You run a play and get the first down and you win. If not, short of a turnover/runback, MSU has to complete a 50+ yard pass. I have seen coaches go for it in those situations.
Now in our case, O'Neill has been so solid, I think it was the best option. He had punted 45 times previously this year for us and I dont think he ever dropped the ball. Harbaugh probably figured we would struggle to get a 1st down running the ball had more confidence in O'Neill punting than Rudock passing.
Hoke, on the other hand, had some struggles with special teams. He might have had less confidence there.
|16 weeks 1 day ago||Hopefully if works out||
Wasnt this the same model that had us at near 20 point favorites against MSU though?
|16 weeks 2 days ago||Are you sure?||
Definitely not practiced enough
|16 weeks 2 days ago||although.....||
I thought the guy receiving the snap did ok given that he seemed totally surprised the ball was snapped and he was hit immediately. The "center" on the other hand, not only seemed to incorrectly snap the ball but he also declined to bother to block......
|16 weeks 2 days ago||Help me out a bit.||
Northwestern still has the #6 defense in SP after losing 38-0 and 40-10 back to back weeks? I know we scored 14 on defense and special teams against them so maybe that is part of it but sure doesnt seem like a #6 defense. Makes me wonder if the SP ranking is even worth looking at. It has us favored by 17 in a rematch against MSU as well.
|16 weeks 2 days ago||We really need MSU to lose twice but.....||
I guess it would be possible if they got really blown out by OSU and then we came back and really blew out OSU the next week.
I think it is pretty unlikely tht will happen but it is possible.
|16 weeks 2 days ago||I think you need to add in the special teams yardage||
How does it come out then? I think the reason that most times the team with 150 more yards wins is that special teams arent so lobsided.
|16 weeks 2 days ago||I think this matchup was a little unique||
in that the descepancy between the two teams in terms of kicking, punting and returns was so big. Short of the incident at the end, we dominated in special teams.
If MSU had a solid kicker, they probably attempt two FGs instead of going on 4th down. If they werent getting only 25 yards net on punts, they dont go on the fake punt.
The yardage descrepancy just states that MSU's offense did better against our defense than our offense against their defense.
|16 weeks 4 days ago||M wins 6-4. Empty netter with 16 seconds to go.||

Uncomfortably close most of the game.
|17 weeks 23 hours ago||We have actually shut them out a fair number of times.||
We did 14-0 in 2000, 31-0 when Harbaugh was playing(1985), 42-0 in 1983 and a couple more times under Bo in the 70's. So 5 times in the last 45 years. Hell, they have only won 14 times in the span, unfortunately almost half recently.
|17 weeks 1 day ago||I find Michigan Monday to be informative||
Gerdeman tends to have some solid analysis. While I don't set aside specific hours to read it, I thought it generally came out on Monday so by Tuesday at lunch I thought it was odd it wasn't out.
|17 weeks 2 days ago||The Baxter advantage||
|17 weeks 2 days ago||I was at that game||

|17 weeks 5 days ago||They don't.||

|17 weeks 5 days ago||Last year 41 of 129 teams had a kick return for a TD||
Many teams had 2. UAB had 4. And that is just kick returns for a TD.
So roughly 1/3 did. I think our 6 season drought has to be one of the longest.
|17 weeks 5 days ago||Probably harder in the NFL||
Less skill discrepancy among players and better punters and kickers
|17 weeks 5 days ago||Yep||
Per NCAA official stats.
|17 weeks 5 days ago||Good info.||
Any idea if we have the longest drought?
|17 weeks 5 days ago||They are not as rare as you might think||
There have been 24 kick returns and 36 punt returns (including blocks) for TDs this year. So 60 in about 300 games or 10% chance per game for any given team.
|18 weeks 4 days ago||I think our offense will do enough.||
I could see us winning a 17-3 type game.
|18 weeks 4 days ago||Not to be a downer||
But the 97 team only gave up 26 points though 5 games. But this defense is amazing.
|18 weeks 5 days ago||Yet Notre Dame is at Clemson at 8 pm||
I never really understood why the Michigan game seemed to be one of few moving. Their must be a ton of games along the coast. Maybe I only pay attention to Michigan because that is all the matters really........
|18 weeks 6 days ago||Seems masterful so far.||
But I guess it only makes sense. He was a successful NFL coach. Even guys like Saban failed there. It's probably why no one in the media thought Harbaugh would return to Michigan. Not many successful NFL coaches do. The only one I can think of is Bill Walsh and he only stayed at Stanford for a little while I believe.
|18 weeks 6 days ago||Brian - have you ever UFR'ed Bo's offense for a game?||
Especially from the 80's when Harbaugh was QB. If so, are there similarities to what we are running now? If not similarities, is it fascinating or boring?

I hate the Blackhawks so some motivation to hope they lose but probably wont watch much of the Stanley Cup. I generally only watch hockey until the Red Wings are out.
Now if M wasnt in the softball game, I doubt I would even know the final game was on......
|36 weeks 8 hours ago||It seems like most people got tickets that wanted them this year||
I have a friend with not too many priority points and he got the two he requested and was actually offered a third.
Do they always have an interest list? I am pretty sure that is how my friend got his tickets was by signing up on an interest list last year.
|36 weeks 6 days ago||I re-upped after dropping out for 2014||
I has season tickets from my time as a student in 1988 through 2013 (unfortunately, started and ended on a dramatic 1 point loss- Hurricanes and Buckeyes..but many great games in between.).
Prior to Brandon getting canned, didn't regret the decision at all. But an amazing amount of good happened all of a sudden and I am damn glad I was able to get back in.
|44 weeks 4 days ago||It's a decent course.||
I have done a fair amount of races and I think it is good. I have run it twice. It's not NY or Chicago but there is a decent amount of fan support. Belle Isle does seem to be windy as another poster indicated.
|44 weeks 5 days ago||Great question||
There are so many big games that one play would make a huge difference. The 73 tie with OSU, the phantom TD in the Rose Bowl, the Miami Hurricanes onside kick in 88, Colorados Hail Mary, Texas's FG in the Rose Bowl, our onside kick in 2006 against OSU, heck, even the non lateral to Breaston on our crazy last second play against Nebraska in the Alamo Bowl.
Then you have so many big hockey games were a goal versus a post would be huge. In basketball, Weber coming down and passing to Rose to nail a 3......maybe a late play in the M 2013 national title game.
But my number 1 would be Bo's last game. Take back the holding flag on the fake punt and M likely wins that game to finish 11-1 with a potential share of the National Title. It would have been an awesome end to an awesome career.
|46 weeks 4 days ago||On the way!||
Tickets weren't too bad. I bought 13th row lower bowl mid ice for $45 last night from the box office. Upper bowl was $20. For a championship game, that seems reasonable. Premium games at Yost are $30 I think.
|46 weeks 5 days ago||One thing that helped the CCHA tourney was closer teams.||
Now Minn, Wisconsin and Penn St are all far. Before teams like Ferris, Western, Bowling Green all reasonable drive. Even ND and Miami not a terrible drive.
|48 weeks 6 hours ago||3 of those QBs started in Rose Bowls||
Harbaugh - 86 season
Brown - 88 season
Taylor - 89 season
If we get 3 Rose Bowls out of the 10 on the roster this year, I think most of us will be satisfied.
|1 year 1 week ago||The Lions winning the Super Bowl would be very surprising.||
Agree with other poster on 1 playoff win in 57 years. Plus their last road playoff win was 12/22/57 at San Francisco. Yeah, Eisenhower was President.
|1 year 1 week ago||A 3.1 is pretty poor compared to M admission standards||
I would think he would almost certainly not get in w with a 3.1 unless he had real high test scores or some other unique talent. As a datapoint, my son is currently deferred at M with a 3.8 and a 32 ACT.
|1 year 2 weeks ago||That is really weird to think about||
Hoke never faced Wisconsin and Andersen never faced Michigan. While, both short careers, seems a little crazy. But the 9 game schedule should help.
|1 year 2 weeks ago||Out of curiousity||
Where is the shady part of Northville? I grew up mainly there and my parents still live there. I cant really think of anywhere I would be uncomfortable.
|1 year 2 weeks ago||As a Northville High grad||
Glad to see us high on the list! And ahead of rival Novi. Maybe I should pull out my varsity jacket, Al Bundy style.....
|1 year 5 weeks ago||this good||
I would say winning the Sugar Bowl in Hoke's first season and beating OSU in 2003 to capture the B1G Title were some pretty great days. Even beating Indiana in 2006 to go to 11-0 going into the OSU game was a great day.
|1 year 6 weeks ago||Love the table but one question||
Is the weighted column correct? For Alabama for example, the weighted total is less than the regular total. It also doesnt seem to be the incremental amount. I am confused.
|1 year 6 weeks ago||Any insight on special teams?||
They have been so bad lately that I would love to see improvement there. We must have the longest streak in college football without returns for touchdowns (Stonum kick return in 2009 against ND and Odoms punt return in 2008 I think are the most recent.).
|1 year 6 weeks ago||Thanks for the updating btw.||
This is a great list.
|1 year 6 weeks ago||Are the column headings correct?||
Aren't the seniors class of 2016? Or does the year refer to the last season they play?
|1 year 8 weeks ago||They did lose McGary, GR3, Stauskas, Morgan and Horford.||
While we expect Beilein to just reload, it's a tall order this year.
|1 year 10 weeks ago||It really does||
The game screams Big Ten. Zero offensive points......
|1 year 12 weeks ago||You might want to check some facts||
Stoops also had Oklahoma in the National Title game after the 2003, 2004 and 2008 seasons. He lost 21-14 to Saban's LSU squad, 55-19 to Carroll's USC team, and 24-14 to Meyer's Florida team. I would say making the National Title game 4 times is pretty impressive. But even if not, its definitely, out of the ordinary. That may be the most any team made it in the BCS era.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||I found this post stunning to the point I verified it||
I find it damn near unfathomable that Hoke has only won 6 road game in 3.75 seasons! He is 6-11! That is crazy bad.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||Yeah||
He has garnered some up votes! But he should, his email post may have been the straw that broke the camel's back.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||That is the biggest win of the fall season so far||
Without Brandon, there is hope.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||I didn't either||
That is awesome. I think he has more than Brian!
|1 year 14 weeks ago||I have always wondered about this||
People all thought it was great when Hoke said his goal in college was to try to drink every beer in Podunk Indiana when he was in college. And when he preached toughness. Why does Michigan always want to win on physical play? Being a strong academic school, shouldnt we try to win with smarts over physicality? Bring back Fritz Crisler's Mad Magicians!
|1 year 15 weeks ago||I think you are right.||

|1 year 17 weeks ago||yeah he does||
About 18,000 to 6,000....
18,000 is a lot of points for someone to take down other than a mod.....
|1 year 17 weeks ago||Wow||
This has more potential than our football team....
|1 year 17 weeks ago||So are you saying||
That our coaches arent good at halftime adjustments? I didnt see a conclusion?
|1 year 17 weeks ago||Is he not toxic now?||
What more does it take? I feel like Brandon is more toxic than RRod was at this point.
|1 year 17 weeks ago||Also put it in perspective||
While Ross is an enormous donor who has made very impressive donations to the University that have likely greatly enriched a lot of things, the University's endowment was $8.4 billion in 2013. I believe Ross has donated around $300 million or 3.5%. He is a big voice, but no individual donor is going to be the only voice.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||33-16 looking pretty good now||
In reference to your footer. The class of 2015 is at 28-17 with 6, maybe 7 games to go.
Plus, you were 3-1 against Ohio, 1-1 against ND, 2-2 against State and 2-2 in bowl games.
Although the class of 2011 is modern day worst, went 24-26.........0-4 against Ohio, 3-1 against ND, 1-3 against State, 1-1 bowl games.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Really both are pretty bad.||
While I agree that the defense is nowhere near the ineptness of last years running games, being 51st in scoring defense is pretty bad. Expectations in year 4 at Michigan are much higher.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Yes he would stay but||
How much evidence do you need? We are 3-7 in our last 10 B1G games and 3-10 against Power5 conference teams.
Hypothetically the Pistons can be NBA champions this year.
I was shocked he wasn't fired after Rutgers.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Well, on the bright side||
We are only 1.5 underdogs on Sagarin against Penn State after you factor in home field.
That makes it essentially a toss up.
That is better than I thought it would be.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||I wonder.||
Who do you think Brandon thinks are his customers?
Seems to me he thinks it only is the 931 student athletes and big donors.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Valid point on Mack Brown||
I dont think Threet (or Sheridan or Cone) would have needed to light it up though. The QB would have been a game manager type QB that would have handed off a lot to Carlos Brown and Brandon Minor. We actually stayed in a lot of games that year for a while and lost due to turnovers (often on special teams). I dont think Carr would have had as many issues there as while special teams have never been a strength at Michigan, the dropped punts in 2008 were almost comical there was so many.
Anyways, no need to debate as we will never know and it really doesnt matter.
Clearly would have been better to either have gone to someone with a similar scheme as Carr (the whole Michigan Man bs) or gotten the proper buy-in from those close to the Athletic Dept that a change could be ugly initially.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||I disagree even more||
I think Lloyd goes 7-5 or better. The personnel remaining were better fit to Carr's offense. The defense was actually ok that year. Biggest problem they had was bad field position due to the offense's inability to move the ball and turnovers (remember how many punts we dropped?).
Given that Lloyd coached 13 seasons and never did worse than 7-5, I doubt he would have in 2008.
It was a terrible year to transition, I agree.
But it doesnt really matter. All in the past now.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Unfortunately||
Ron Zook would probably be an upgrade over what we have now.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Actually 10 is better.||
Allows for more toughness.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||I think we need to continue the pressure.||
Anytime there is blood in the water, you have to finish the situation. Brandon will fight back hard and being a CEO, he will be adept at internal politics. It would be great if Brian gave us some direction as I think we would rally behind him.
There are multiple things that I think could help:
The first 3 are ones that can be done individually:
Then some bigger activities that take some organization are:
Essentially the more the message can be gotten across the better. I also think the focus needs to be on Brandon. Not fire Hoke, not we want Harbaugh. Brandon is the root of the problem. Need to address it there.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Does it really make you wonder?||
I feel like we should all be beyond wondering.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||What are the winnable games?||
I think we have the best chance against Indiana and Maryland at home. Less of a chance against Penn State and at Northwestern. Limited to no chance against MSU and OSU. Best case 3-3? Most likely 2-4? Am I optimistic still?
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Thank you||
I am literally laughing put loud at the Hindenburg flyover.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Really||
Hiring a good coach on paper would be enough to offset hiring a horrible coach on paper that turned out horrible plus coke gate, seat cushion gate, plane skywriting gate, student seating gate, hockey ticket gate, concussion gate and more? Enough to make him a very good AD? That seems like a low standard.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||I did have the problem but fine now.||
IPad works well today.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||My friends and I were wondering the same thing||

|1 year 18 weeks ago||I am not sure they were in dire straights.||
I did a quick google search and found that they were principally owned by Bain Capital which is a big private equity firm with deep pockets. Yes, they were leveraged, but they were profitable in 2003 ($39 million net income) and 2002 ($61 million net income).
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Dominos pizza||
Underperformed both the S & P 500 and Papa Johns during Brandon's tenure. That doesn't make him necessarily a bad CEO, but it certainly doesn't mean he is automatically qualified to be AD.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||I think many of the fans would like this.||
However, I feel like the ex-players really want to keep the Bo Mo Carr style alive of conservative offense and stout defense. To "out tough" the opponent. I always thought it was odd that Michigan would emphasize toughness over scheme being an academic school. It obviously worked for Bo but that is becoming a different era.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||That was a heck of a team of Bo's||
I think the 85 team may have been better. But great team in 1988. My first year at M. Tough start with the back to back losses to ND and Miami (ytm). But won the rest of the way except for a tie at Iowa which sucked as we were about to go ahead and Tracey Williams I think fumbled.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Sorry||
I do wonder which offenses will be statistically worse. 2008 seemed so futile trying to run Threet and Sheridan. This year has plenty of talent but little results.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||I didn't realized we had underperformed||
Glad Brandon is being transparent as Schissel wanted in his statement.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Btw, the worst would be||
The 2008 or 2014 offense with the 2010 defense.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Why the 88 defense?||
That was a really good team but I don't recall the defense being exceptional. At least not as good as 85, 97 or 80.
|1 year 18 weeks ago||Fritz Crislers Mad Magician team that won the National Title||
I don't know what number but I believe it was the 1947 season. I would just love to see the offensive scheme.

They told me since I graduated in 1991 that I didnt have a UMID number so I wouldnt be able to do it online. They were going to set up a UMID number and call me back. They guy said it would probably be a day before they called back.

Did you by chance capture the class of the lineman? It would be interesting to see if the youth argument has any merit.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||I think the committee should take the 4 best teams.||
Wisconsin won the conference over Nebraska with a horrible record (8-5) in 2012. You really going to take them over a 1 loss team from another conference that didn't win their conference. Clearly a conference championship should be a big plus but need to look at the entire resume.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Carr was vilified for that.||
I remember watching that Iowa game and thinking wtf are they doing lined up like that. I have to believe whatever M did in 2003 wasn't really the correct way to run the spread punt..
Poor Carr, tries to be cutting edge for once and it backfired.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Its not clear to me it will be Morris next year anyways||
My guess is he will need to compete with Speight. While Morris will be a Junior and Speight only a redshirt freshman, Morris hasnt looked that good when in, even against App State which was not a pressure situation. Ultimately, Michigan should play whoever they have that they think gives them the best chance to win.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||Honestly, most people here were probably overly optimistic||
Vegas had our over/under at 7.5 games for the regular season. Most of us laughed at that (I predicted 9-3). Since Vegas is generally trying to even out the money, that means 7.5 games was the consensus across the gambling community.
|1 year 20 weeks ago||I am stunned||
I could picture 2-2 before the season but not the way it unfolded. 2 completely uncompetitive losses to teams I really dont think are that good. Hoke is right that it happened in 1998 and we rebounded. But that was in an era where we had just won a national title and been good for a long time. That "stunned" was the realization that we werent invincible on defense like we were the year before with Woodson. This "stunned" is holy shit, Hoke needs to go unless he rebounds.

|1 year 21 weeks ago||Good point||
Last year Gardner had 237 yards of the 585 rushing in the first 3 games. And it was roughly 50% against ND and 60% against Akron.
This year he has 39 out of the 726.
|1 year 21 weeks ago||We are definitely doing better||
Last year we had 585 yards rushing in the first 3 games against similar competition (CMU, ND, Akron). So we are up over 20%. But it will be interesting if we can run the ball against tougher defensive teams. 20% better against MSU and PSU doesn't make much difference.

At Washington is one
Home against Washington is two.
Even these werent on the timeframe of his original schedule of end of week.
|1 year 22 weeks ago||How about||
We are 9-9-1 in Notre Dame Stadium. We lead the modern "renewal" of the series 15-14-1. Win this game and we have a winning record in their stadium and win the modern series. Lose it and we tie the modern series and have a losing record in their stadium.
We need to win.

He had a good career at M. But he was more of the game manager type quarterback that sat in the pocket. Denard was just all around spectacular, a highlight clip machine.

Seems like they would be very familiar with the play calling.

|1 year 25 weeks ago||We have 5 home conference games in even years||
I would think we would need to add home teams in the odds years when we have 4 home conference games.
The 2018 schedule is actually pretty good. Nebraska, Wisconsin, Penn State and Arkansas at home- those are some decent teams. Then SMU, Indiana and Maryland.
Whereas right now for 2019, we only have Iowa, Rutgers, State and Ohio at home. While we have our two rivals, with at Arkansas lined up, we need two more home games.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||although||
We did play at UConn and I think their stadium was pretty small.

Be nice to have a big home game against a real marque program like USC or Texas in 2019 and 2021 with the road dates in 2018 and 2020.

I think one of those will be at Yost. M played twice at Munn last year and only once at Yost. That generally rotates as Joe Louis is considered neutral site. I was hoping it was TBA because one would be at M stadium.

I would think the coaches could evaluate any potential character issues. But I don't want to see another season like 2008 when Nick Sheridan is starting or even 2012 when Bellomy has to go in against Nebraska. The more the merrier.

In 68 and last year? Be interesting to see it from 68 to last year actually. If Ohio ran a lot of plays in 68 under Woody, seems like Bo might have been doing the same in 69.

Not a fan of the corporate experience nor the lackluster schedule. Plus, the internet makes it a lot easier to get tickets for the games I want. I am still keeping my season hockey tickets but Yost has become a shell of itself with all the corporate seats that are empty.

|2 years 4 weeks ago||I am with you.||
Another 7-6 season and I think the Hoke era ends unless there are some extreme cirumstances like Gardner and Morris being hurt most of the season or 6 losses by a total of 9 points or something.
I think he is on the seat at 8-5 honestly. Three mediocre seasons in a row sound pretty bad. Consider our history starting with Bo. Over the last 45 years, Michigan has lost 5 or more games 7 seasons. Once by Bo in 1984. Once by Carr in 2005. Three by RR (2008-2010) and now two by Hoke (2012-2013).
I think Hoke needs to go 9-4. It's his fourth season at the helm, the team is mainly his guys. The season sets up well in that while your 3 rivalry games are all on the road, you are probably favored to win your other 9.
|2 years 4 weeks ago||Well was it 900 or countless times?||
Just kidding. I understand your point but I took it to mean that he intended to bring them back but that maybe he would lose 1 to a promotion at another program. Hard to believe he anticipated bringing Borges back.
|2 years 4 weeks ago||That doesn't seem like a positive trait.||
But you may be right.

|2 years 5 weeks ago||I would think Vegas would have the over/under at 8.5||
i think we will be underdogs for sure in the 3 road games against our rivals.
As for Notre Dame, I don't think we usually beat ND on the road. We have lost 2 of our last 3 on the road there and 5 of the last 7 on the road there.
I think we go 8-4 or 9-3.
|2 years 5 weeks ago||It's not new||
People thought that after the 87 season. I was a student and the talk was how the game passed Bo by and MSU was the new power.
Well then Michigan won 5 straight Big Ten titles (4 outright) and that nonsense was put to bed.
|2 years 5 weeks ago||It could have happened.||
Oklahoma played LSU for the national title in 2003 but did not win the Big 12. Alabama beat LSU for the national title in 2011 but did not even win the SEC West. I also think Nebraska may have not won the Big 12 in 2001 when they played Miami for the national title.
|2 years 5 weeks ago||I think Hoke was trying to appease the old timers||
Bo always focused on B1G titles because it was in your control whereas the National Title was in the hands of the voters. I don't think this is why there is a difference in level of success this season.
|2 years 5 weeks ago||A crappy variation of this occurred in 2000.||
Anthony Thomas had the yards for a first down and could have just kneeled down. But instead he kept going to try and get a TD. A Northwestern defender caught him and forced a fumble. Northwestern then scored to beat Michigan 54-51.
If Thomas had just taken a knee past the sticks, it would have been victory formation time.
|2 years 5 weeks ago||Not true.||
The AP writers are not required to vote for the winner of the BCS Title game.
|2 years 5 weeks ago||Mr. Miggle is correct||
Oklahoma was undefeated but then lost big in the Big 12 championship game (35-7). Somehow in the computers, they were still ranked high enough to play in the BCS game. All 3 teams had 1 loss. USC, despite being ranked #1 in both human polls, was left out. LSU beat Oklahoma 21-14 to take the BCS Title whereas USC beat Michigan 28-14 to take the AP Poll.

They only beat 3 teams with a winning record all year (9-4 Louisana Lafayette, 7-5 Texas Tech and 7-6 Michigan). There other wins were against two 4-8 teams, two 3-9 teams and a 1-11 team.
They were a pretty mediocre team.

While it is popular to bash Borges, the defense regressed mightily this year.

|2 years 9 weeks ago||Who would the Committee have selected this year?||
If the 4 team playoff had started already, seems like this would be more controversial than the current system. Florida State and Auburn would be locks. But then you have the other power conference winners- Stanford, Michigan State and Baylor competing with Alabama for 2 spots.
|2 years 9 weeks ago||7-5 would be unacceptable to me.||
That would be three 5 or more loss seasons in a row with no sign of progress. Our schedule has 3 tough games, all of our rivals on the road. Otherwise, we will be favored in our other 9 games. I think we go 9-3.
|2 years 9 weeks ago||History would say 2-3||
Given the schedule, that seems about right although I could see winning one of the tough 3.
On the flip side, we have a really good shot at winning all of our home games next year. But I see a 9-3 season for 2014.
Then in 2015, we edge up to 10-2 (losing at Utah and PSU), but win the B1G East and the B1G.

|2 years 10 weeks ago||Mattison was our DC in 1995 and 1996||
We upset Ohio each time 31-23 and 13-9.
The 1996 season was very similar to this one. The Buckeyes were blowing people out, undefeated, 10-0, and ranked #2. Meanwhile we were 7-3 with a solid defense and an anemic offense under 2nd year OC Fred Jackson (Fred said our offense was like the speed of light but faster and like Atlas but stronger......). We had even lost at Purdue 9-3. Yet the defense kept us in the game and we rebounded from a 9-0 deficit at the half.
Michigan 20, Ohio 17
|2 years 14 weeks ago||Their 89 game against Illinois was a classic||
Leading 10-7 with under 2 minutes to go, they just needed to run out the clock. I actually think they could have just taken a knee but they chose to plunge into the line with their back, Hylant Hickson. He of course fumbled and Jeff George drove Illinois for a TD and the win.
It's actually a pet peeve of mine when coaches decide to run between the tackles when they could just take a knee. You still see it quite often. At the end of the first half, maybe the logic is that you could break a big run but it seems like the risk of fumbling and giving up points is greater than ripping off a 60+ yard run on the last play of the half. But you see it at the end of games as well. We may have even been able to just take a knee against Indiana this year at the end when Fitz rumbled for the TD but not sure.
