|6 weeks 4 days ago||Is the Chip Kelly comment real?||
Why would he see Borges's play chart?
|6 weeks 4 days ago||Anyone know what Michigan averaged?||
In 68 and last year? Be interesting to see it from 68 to last year actually. If Ohio ran a lot of plays in 68 under Woody, seems like Bo might have been doing the same in 69.

That article is pretty misleading even though factual. San Francisco, Boston and Manhattan are some of the densest places in the US.

Not a fan of the corporate experience nor the lackluster schedule. Plus, the internet makes it a lot easier to get tickets for the games I want. I am still keeping my season hockey tickets but Yost has become a shell of itself with all the corporate seats that are empty.

Would this imply that teams like large full stadiums should have a better home field advantage than teams with small/emptier stadiums. Have these studies looked at that?
|13 weeks 6 days ago||Thanks Coach Borges!||
You were our offensive coordinator for one of our most successful seasons in the BCS era which concluded with a Sugar Bowl win!
|13 weeks 6 days ago||I just up voted on my iPad....||
Is there some ap you have? I just use the standard site.
|13 weeks 6 days ago||I could see that being a big part of this.||
Makes me wonder if Brandon foreced the issue for that very reason.
I am okay with it, let's use Michigan's resources to be the best!
|13 weeks 6 days ago||I am with you.||
Another 7-6 season and I think the Hoke era ends unless there are some extreme cirumstances like Gardner and Morris being hurt most of the season or 6 losses by a total of 9 points or something.
I think he is on the seat at 8-5 honestly. Three mediocre seasons in a row sound pretty bad. Consider our history starting with Bo. Over the last 45 years, Michigan has lost 5 or more games 7 seasons. Once by Bo in 1984. Once by Carr in 2005. Three by RR (2008-2010) and now two by Hoke (2012-2013).
I think Hoke needs to go 9-4. It's his fourth season at the helm, the team is mainly his guys. The season sets up well in that while your 3 rivalry games are all on the road, you are probably favored to win your other 9.
|14 weeks 6 hours ago||Well was it 900 or countless times?||
Just kidding. I understand your point but I took it to mean that he intended to bring them back but that maybe he would lose 1 to a promotion at another program. Hard to believe he anticipated bringing Borges back.
|14 weeks 6 hours ago||That doesn't seem like a positive trait.||
But you may be right.
|14 weeks 7 hours ago||Didn't Hoke say he was retaining his staff?||
Or did I imagine that. I wonder if this is Brandon forcing the issue.
|14 weeks 2 days ago||We beat them in football in 2000 in Columbus||
Not sure on BBall.
|14 weeks 5 days ago||I would think Vegas would have the over/under at 8.5||
i think we will be underdogs for sure in the 3 road games against our rivals.
As for Notre Dame, I don't think we usually beat ND on the road. We have lost 2 of our last 3 on the road there and 5 of the last 7 on the road there.
I think we go 8-4 or 9-3.
|14 weeks 6 days ago||It's not new||
People thought that after the 87 season. I was a student and the talk was how the game passed Bo by and MSU was the new power.
Well then Michigan won 5 straight Big Ten titles (4 outright) and that nonsense was put to bed.
|14 weeks 6 days ago||It could have happened.||
Oklahoma played LSU for the national title in 2003 but did not win the Big 12. Alabama beat LSU for the national title in 2011 but did not even win the SEC West. I also think Nebraska may have not won the Big 12 in 2001 when they played Miami for the national title.
|14 weeks 6 days ago||I think Hoke was trying to appease the old timers||
Bo always focused on B1G titles because it was in your control whereas the National Title was in the hands of the voters. I don't think this is why there is a difference in level of success this season.
|14 weeks 6 days ago||A crappy variation of this occurred in 2000.||
Anthony Thomas had the yards for a first down and could have just kneeled down. But instead he kept going to try and get a TD. A Northwestern defender caught him and forced a fumble. Northwestern then scored to beat Michigan 54-51.
If Thomas had just taken a knee past the sticks, it would have been victory formation time.
|14 weeks 6 days ago||Not true.||
The AP writers are not required to vote for the winner of the BCS Title game.
|14 weeks 6 days ago||Mr. Miggle is correct||
Oklahoma was undefeated but then lost big in the Big 12 championship game (35-7). Somehow in the computers, they were still ranked high enough to play in the BCS game. All 3 teams had 1 loss. USC, despite being ranked #1 in both human polls, was left out. LSU beat Oklahoma 21-14 to take the BCS Title whereas USC beat Michigan 28-14 to take the AP Poll.

What names were named?
|15 weeks 2 days ago||I dont know if KSU was better than their record.||
They only beat 3 teams with a winning record all year (9-4 Louisana Lafayette, 7-5 Texas Tech and 7-6 Michigan). There other wins were against two 4-8 teams, two 3-9 teams and a 1-11 team.
They were a pretty mediocre team.
|15 weeks 2 days ago||I think the defense shares responsibility here||
While it is popular to bash Borges, the defense regressed mightily this year.

2011 322 17.4
|15 weeks 2 days ago||Hoke has beaten at least one over .500 team on the road||
Illinois finished 7-6 in 2011. I do believe this is the only one though.
|18 weeks 3 days ago||In that case||
Round 1 - FSU vs Baylor and SEC rematch.
|18 weeks 3 days ago||Who would the Committee have selected this year?||
If the 4 team playoff had started already, seems like this would be more controversial than the current system. Florida State and Auburn would be locks. But then you have the other power conference winners- Stanford, Michigan State and Baylor competing with Alabama for 2 spots.
|18 weeks 4 days ago||7-5 would be unacceptable to me.||
That would be three 5 or more loss seasons in a row with no sign of progress. Our schedule has 3 tough games, all of our rivals on the road. Otherwise, we will be favored in our other 9 games. I think we go 9-3.
|19 weeks 1 day ago||History would say 2-3||
Given the schedule, that seems about right although I could see winning one of the tough 3.
On the flip side, we have a really good shot at winning all of our home games next year. But I see a 9-3 season for 2014.
Then in 2015, we edge up to 10-2 (losing at Utah and PSU), but win the B1G East and the B1G.
|19 weeks 5 days ago||Don - do you think it would be bigger than the 96 upset?||
I feel it would be equivalent.
|19 weeks 5 days ago||Come on Magnus||
No one wants to see a bunch of clearly articulated facts pointing to a loss! Why don't you white out the words and just add a few more pictures to balance it out.....
|19 weeks 5 days ago||Mattison was our DC in 1995 and 1996||
We upset Ohio each time 31-23 and 13-9.
The 1996 season was very similar to this one. The Buckeyes were blowing people out, undefeated, 10-0, and ranked #2. Meanwhile we were 7-3 with a solid defense and an anemic offense under 2nd year OC Fred Jackson (Fred said our offense was like the speed of light but faster and like Atlas but stronger......). We had even lost at Purdue 9-3. Yet the defense kept us in the game and we rebounded from a 9-0 deficit at the half.
Michigan 20, Ohio 17
|24 weeks 1 day ago||Their 89 game against Illinois was a classic||
Leading 10-7 with under 2 minutes to go, they just needed to run out the clock. I actually think they could have just taken a knee but they chose to plunge into the line with their back, Hylant Hickson. He of course fumbled and Jeff George drove Illinois for a TD and the win.
It's actually a pet peeve of mine when coaches decide to run between the tackles when they could just take a knee. You still see it quite often. At the end of the first half, maybe the logic is that you could break a big run but it seems like the risk of fumbling and giving up points is greater than ripping off a 60+ yard run on the last play of the half. But you see it at the end of games as well. We may have even been able to just take a knee against Indiana this year at the end when Fitz rumbled for the TD but not sure.
|25 weeks 7 hours ago||Bo||

|25 weeks 4 days ago||Maybe it's supposed to be but it's not.||
The 1995 5-0 Purdue game in the rain/sleet was never more than 75% full for example. I was there and stayed to the end. It was cool actually, I just followed the line of scrimmage in about row 20 for the 4th quarter. Couldn't have been more than 25,000 there at the end.
|25 weeks 4 days ago||This board is extremely fragile as of late.||
Hoke is 24-8 as a coach. He has a Sugar Bowl win. Hard to crucify him over 1 loss. Plus, look at all the other top teams losing this year and every year in college football. Just this week, #5 Stanford at Utah, #8 Louisville at home against UCF.

|26 weeks 1 day ago||It is frustrating.||
Borges doesnt seem to make in-game adjustments very well. It is as if the plan was determined earlier and we go with the plan, regardless of how it is working.
I will say that our offense is much better than a GERG defense though. Our scoring offense is ranked 22nd right now and while I didnt look it up, I think GERG's defenses were ranked in the 100 range.
|26 weeks 2 days ago||Great post!||
One question though. How many teams have tried to score a TD with under a minute and 80 yards to go? You mentioned 6 made it. I was wondering what the percentage was.
|26 weeks 4 days ago||Treadwell||
Anything seems better. Doesn't Funk report to Borges? Don't see how the O Line issues don' t roll up to him.
|29 weeks 6 days ago||Actually we were on our 45||

|38 weeks 6 hours ago||Totally agree Don.||
I remember going there as a kid around when it opened thinking how stupid a really steep big staircase is on a stadium used for winter sports. Olympia had charm like Yost. I understand a pro team needed more than charm, but Joe Louis seemed to miss the boat on everything but more seats. The Palace opened about a decade later and seemed significantly better.
|42 weeks 2 days ago||Agree with the above on Bo.||
Also Bo's Lasting Lessons, I think by John Bacon. 3 and out if you want the Richrod saga. There is also a book by Jon Faulk that is interesting, I can't remember the name.

|51 weeks 6 days ago||Comparable team to this year||
I think we will be in a position to challenge in the B1G for the title and be a 3-4 seed in the tourney. Likely make the Sweet Sixteen but probably not a Final Four team. Hope I am wrong on the latter part.

|1 year 2 weeks ago||The B1G needs to win National Titles for respect nationwide.||
Since our win in 1989, the B1G has only 1title, State in 2000. That's pretty bad. During that timespan the ACC, Big East and SEC have quite a few. And it's not just blueboods like Duke, NC and Kentucky although they have 10 in that stretch I believe. Schools like Arkansas, Maryland, UNLV, Arizona, Syracuse each have a title. UConn came out of nowhere and won 3.
|1 year 3 weeks ago||I like the high profile games.||
But I wish more were at home. Due to the Joe game against MSU, only 9 home conference games. Then the 2 Boston games, 2 Tech games and maybe 2 Ferris games is only 15 home games.
I count 33 games not counting playoffs. 15 home, 15 away, 3 neutral (Joe and GLI).
I guess there probably will still be the lesser games to fill out the home schedule like the exhibition games against a Canada college team and the Under 18 team. Sucks not to have any home playoff games.
Still, glad to see the Boston teams and I would guess we will get New Hampshire next year.
|1 year 5 weeks ago||Either||
Win the B1G tourney and make the Elite 8
Make the Final Four
Otherwise, this season isnt a success. Tying for 4th regular season is an underachievement so the team has ground to make up.

Does the below quote mean its huge that he got his redshirt or does it mean it is huge if he gets his redshirt?
Devin Gardner getting his redshirt is huge not just for the team as a whole, but also Morris's development.
|1 year 14 weeks ago||9-4||
5 for sure wins: CMU, Akron, @UConn, Indiana, Minn
8 losable games: ND, @MSU, @PSU, @NW, @Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio, Bowl game. I think we lose 2 road games, a home game and the bowl game.
Under Hoke we are 14-0 at home, but only 5-7 road/neutral site.

Very interesting. I find it reassuring to see statistics detail out that ND and Ohio are not as good as their records. Fortunately Ohio is on probation so we don't have to see the two lucky teams play for the national title.

That just comes with the territory at being at the richest football program in the country. I bet he likes all the money that leads to better facilities and all the exposure that leads to better recruits. I agree with the posters above, he is just making excuses for a shoddy defense which has put them out of the Big 12 race midway through October.

|1 year 25 weeks ago||Field rush in 1989 after Ohio game||
It started before the game was over as I was in the middle of the field and looked up to see 6 seconds still on the clock. Michael Taylor had just taken a knee. I remember thinking how big he looked in pads and helmet compared to the class I had with him.
We didnt know it but that was Bo's last game as a coach in M Stadium. Clinched the Big 10 outright. I think the score was 28-18.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||I think you need to see how he does in a pro style offense.||
Hard to judge a guy when he is outside his expertise. But I agree there is concern. I have seen Auburn's undefeated team referenced as a Borges credential but in reality their offense wasn't very good that year and he was ultimately canned.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||A thread hijack but who is responsible for the fake FG working?||
Is that on Mattison? Or is that a special teams coach? That was obviously a huge turning point if it doesn't succeed. I am amazed that we were not prepared there.
|1 year 25 weeks ago||It's kind of troubling||
It is somewhat infrequent that we don't score TDs historically and it has now happened twice this year. We have score only 32 points total against the 3 top defenses we have faced. Fortunately, we don't really face anymore top defenses this year (except maybe in the bowl).
|1 year 25 weeks ago||Well,||
The crowd did rush the field. It was packed after the game.
I think a lot of Michigan fans wanted to beat Sparty pretty bad. Several vehemently disagreed with me when I said the Nebraska game is more important. Hopefully, everyone follows Hoke's lead and we focus on the B1G title and not Sparty from now on.

What does your model show now for a Top 10? What would Michigan's rank be?

|1 year 29 weeks ago||Texas is the best choice.||
I believe they have the second most wins in football, just ahead of ND. Texas is deep in tradition, a solid academic school, has a huge following. They also just dropped Texas A& M, a long time rival, so maybe they could work us in. We are 0-1 lifetime against them so it would be nice to get another crack at them.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Unfortunately, I agree||
While way less fun as a fan, playing cupcakes is solid way to increase the chances of getting into the BCS championship game/playoff. Once the 4 team playoff starts, an undefeated B1G champion will get a spot every time.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||I could be wrong but||
My recollection is that when Canham agreed with ND to resume the series in the late 70's, he agreed to an extra game in South Bend provided that the home team got to keep the majority (maybe all?) of the gate revenue. It was due to the disparity in Stadium size as Michigan Stadium was 100,000+ and ND Stadium was around 60,000. I do not believe that the current arrangement treats the gate revenue this way but my guess is that once you got through the original contract, the next series started in Ann Arbor so it should end in South Bend.
But I don't have a link or anything so as my intro said, I could be wrong.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||see the ticket spreadsheet up on MGoBoard||
Tickets are available for quite a few games, including against Miami (ranked #9).
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Why are we arguing who is the blame?||
Its not like just one person is to blame. The whole team is too blame. Denard executed poorly. Borges got too creative. The receivers didnt get much separation. No one really did anything exceptional. Even the defense, who played great all game, couldnt make a stop when they had to.
I have confidence that they learn from this and move forward. While it would have been great to beat our rival, winning the B1G is really what matters given that after the Alabama debacle, any shot of national honors was out the window.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||You guys are all wrong||
I blame The Knowledge. He predicted the win and it didnt happen. Is this another alter universe dimension problem?
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Does anyone thing the B1G can win the Rose Bowl?||
I just don't see how the B1G champion beats USC/Oregon/Stanford.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Mixed||
I feel much better about Mattison and our defense.
I question Borges more and more. Hard to understand 1st and goal twice from the 10 in the first quarter and we ran a sweep to Touisant, two passes by Denard and a pass by Vincent Smith. I don't feel like he puts Denard in the best position to succeed.
B1G season will be interesting. Who will be the lamb for the PAC 12?

|1 year 29 weeks ago||If the average home field advantage is 3.8 points,||
I wonder what the advantage (if any) is for the 105th team. My guess is that it is still something positive.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||I dont know||
Last 5 games at each location, Michigan is 2-3 at ND and 4-1 at home. Seems like a home field advantage to me. Going back 10 more games, Michigan is 1-3-1 at ND and 3-2 at home.
Combined last 20 games, Michigan is 3-6-1 at ND and 7-3 at home.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||what officials do they use for the game?||
Is it Big East officials since ND is currently associated with the Big East in everything but football? I assume it is not B1G officials.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||Unfortunately, Michigan lost the first 3 night games at ND||
Need to change the streak. I was at the 1990 game as a student and it was a horribly depressing loss as Michigan was ranked #1 and ND came from behind in the 4th quarter to win. It started to rain just around when the game ended. Seemed fitting.
|1 year 30 weeks ago||I second this.||
Give it to Funchess. And in the future, give all these numbers to freshman. Use it as a recruiting tool. I believe that is how the number 1 jersey thing started. Bo wanted an extra edge to pull Carter from Florida. I think if you look before Carter, the #1 jersey was just a jersey assigned to whoever.
|1 year 30 weeks ago||So the QB's at our main rivals are all negatives?||
I know your numbers are averages but if I am reading this correctly:
ND is starting a freshman now (although may go back to Rees). So that would be a -1.6.
MSU has Maxwell who is in year 1 of 2. So that would be a -1.9.
Ohio has Miller who is in year 2 of 4. So that would be a -.2. Although Miller had an OC change which in his case was probably better.
This implies though that all of our rivals are held back by their QB. And in MSU's case, it really wont get much better. Miller should be a beast thought by his senior season. As for ND, hard to tell with the carousel QB process they use.
What I dont understand is how can Denard only be worth +4? Is that just +4 from average?
|1 year 31 weeks ago||I agree as well.||
The recap and link are nice.
|1 year 31 weeks ago||Awesome!||
The flyover was the highlight of the game!
|1 year 31 weeks ago||I am hopeful as well||
We have had plenty of rough starts in the past that have turned into pretty good seasons (88, 98, and 07 started 0-2 and ended 9-2-1, 10-3 and 9-4).
We have a cupcake next week so we will be 2-1 after game 3 which is where most of us thought we would be at. Our opponents have had their struggles as well. ND just got by Purdue and Nebraska lost at UCLA. State may or may not be good, I think it is too early to tell. Ohio struggled somewhat against UCF. Our potential opponent in the B1G championship game lost to Oregon State.
No need to panic. The team has issues but our young talent should get better at a fast clip.
|1 year 32 weeks ago||I agree.||
Plus, we had a remote but possible chance of winning against FSU late in the game. Michigan was down 44-31 and driving for a TD when Grbac threw a pick 6. Now, dont get me wrong, we had to get the TD and then an onside kick and another TD all within a few minutes. But there was a chance. I didnt feel like we even had a chance against Alabama sometime fairly early in the game.
|1 year 32 weeks ago||Probably this Alabama team.||
Others were USC in 07 and 04 Rose Bowls (06 and 03 seasons), Penn State in 94, FSU in 91, Washington in 92 Rose Bowl (91 season), Miami in 88.
It is hard to compare somewhat this early with Alabama because we really dont know how good Michigan is. But my guess is that Alabama is dominant like last year.
Florida State was probably the most shocking as our defense never let in points like that under Bo. Unfortunately it was the beginning of a 20+ year trend of our defense not being what it was (with a few exception years). People rationalize saying that college football is more wide open but I think the Bama's and the LSU's show you that defense can still reign supreme.
Hopefully we return to being a top defense under Hoke and Mattison.

Numerous people in this thread say most cyclists were doping. So why is Armstrong the chief conspirator? Ulrich was his biggest competitor and Ulrich had Kloden and Vino for a few years. All were caught doping so how could you argue that Postal/Discovery was a conspiracy but T-Mobile was not? Seems to me that Armstrong gets a raw deal with this lifetime ban. Now I am biased because I am a triathlete and wanted to see how he would do in Kona which looks to be permanently off at this point.
|1 year 33 weeks ago||So why does he get a lifetime ban?||
All the other cyclists that get caught seem to get a 2 year ban? Last month I watched Vinokourov win a gold medal after being convicted of doping a few years ago. Contador is riding the Vuelta as I write this and he go caught only a couple years ago?
What is up with the lifetime ban? I assume this will apply to triathlon as well so no Kona.
|1 year 33 weeks ago||Thanks||
It is interesting because it is very different than the polls. Thanks again. Great post.
|1 year 33 weeks ago||Interesting||
Doesnt seem to support a decline. Although, will the 2013 class decline as I believe they need to add quite a few more players?
Maybe the bigger difference was our decline due to recruiting and transfers for a period (which seems to be past us).

I will add to the spreadsheet but thought I would put a summary here. I am a season ticket holder for M hockey - 4 tickets in row 14, section 28 (North End). I moved farther away from Ann Arbor last month and just cant see making nearly as many games this year. I almost got rid of my tickets but decided to keep them as the B1G starts next year. I would like to sell 1/2 of the season at face value (it was $1,610 for all the tickets). We would have a draft of sorts for who got which tickets (i.e. one person goes first, then other person gets second and third, then the original person gets fourth and fifth and so on). Email me (Ken) at email@example.com if interested. Thanks and Go Blue!
|1 year 43 weeks ago||Even if they somehow find him guilty||
Who do you award the Tour victories to? Ullrich? Basso? Almost everyone on the podium with Lance from those years has already been caught using PEDs.
|1 year 43 weeks ago||These investigations do seem like an enormous waste of money||
To me, it always seems like some prosecutor is trying to make a name for themself. I saw last week that they are going after Lance Armstrong again over his Tour de France wins.
|1 year 44 weeks ago||I think it is disappointing||
Games against other traditional powers are always more interesting. A home and home with USC generates enormous excitement. Utah, whatever, even if they are good.
Other than the two games against ND, our home nonconference schedule sucks the next four season unless the TBDs come through (unlikely as we need our two cupcakes).
2012- Air Force, UMass
2013- CMU, ND, Akron
2014- App St, Utah, TBD
2015 – ND, TBD, TBD
If anything, I would rather see our 5 neutral/away games (Bama, ND, UConn, ND, Utah) than the 11 games above.
|1 year 50 weeks ago||So should that be a double?||
I have never seen the catch on the bounce off the wall before.

His background is marketing. From my experience, marketing guys aren't very financially savvy. Even as a CEO, he probably leaned on his CFO and had oversight from the private equity firm that owned Dominos.

Because Beilein thought he wasnt needed once Burke decided to come back and we got Spike Albrecht.
|2 years 3 hours ago||No way he deserves to be in the roster.||
Terrible spring, sent to Toledo and hits .187 (1 for 9) which somehow is good enough that he gets called up. Quickly gets into the lineup and is batting .200 (1 for 5). I would love for him to do well but Leyland is nuts for the amount he uses Inge.

I went to all 3 of those NCAA playoff games in 1990, what a cool experience.

How does that work for Independents? Say M loses to Ohio in the B1G championship game like in 2006 but is still ranked in the top 4? Are they out and ND at number 5 gets in? I would be okay with the Big 12 or ACC champion getting in but would be pissed if a lower ranked independent got in. Why should teams in conferences have an additional hurdle?
|2 years 5 weeks ago||Indiana is favored by 1||
While either way isnt really an upset, I think Indiana is the one that could be upset from a technical standpoint.
Of the 3 games with more of a mismatch, I think in order of likelihood of being upset: Ohio, Michigan, State.

Alabama Huntsville is folding after this season. They are really the only southern college hockey team.
|2 years 10 weeks ago||Not necessarily||
Unfortunately, playing #12, #16 and #18 on the road are probably toss-ups. It does bode well for us in all the other games except for Alabama.
Hopefully the toss-ups go our way.
|2 years 10 weeks ago||You definitely dont hate them enough||
I think South Bend is a dump. I disliked their fans all 3 times I went there.
|2 years 10 weeks ago||Not to be a pessimist but I think we have some other tough games||
I agree with the OP that Bama and Ohio are the hardest on our schedule.
But Alabama, @ND, MSU, @Nebraska, @Ohio are all difficult games. Bama has signed Top 5 classes for years now under Saban. While we have beaten ND three years in a row, any of them could have been losses. State returns a strong defensive team which has made our offense look bad three years in a row. Nebraska is tough in Lincoln. Ohio has a lot of talent and Meyer will have had 11 games to prepare for their "bowl game" against us.
I dont think we will lose all but I would not be shocked if we lost any one of them. I see MSU and @Nebraska as the easiest so I think we have a great shot to win the B1G and go to the Rose Bowl.
I predict 10-4, losing in the Rose Bowl to USC (or Oregon is USC is still banned).
|2 years 10 weeks ago||The choices can be odd||
Garnett, wanting to be a Doctor and being from the West Coast, going to Stanford makes sense to me.
Kozan, being from Colorado, leaning towards Iowa, makes no sense to me.

Does anyone have an informed thought on the minimum to get into the tourney would be?
What if we finish out 4-6 and lose our opening game in the B1G tourney?
That would put us at 20-12 which seems like it could be the wrong side of the bubble line......
|2 years 11 weeks ago||I think we finish with anywhere from 5 to 7 wins||
Best case, we win all 4 at home and at Nebraska, Northwestern and PSU.
Worst case, we win 3 of 4 at home and lose one of the 3 road games above.
Unfortunately, I think it is pretty likely we lose @ Ohio and @ State.
|2 years 11 weeks ago||I would rather see pics of your ex-girlfriends||

|2 years 11 weeks ago||I somewhat agree.||
Michigan's defense didnt play well in 2004 and 2006 against Ohio. Not sure I agree in 2005, we only had 21 points, Navarre put up 35 in 2003.
I guess when I think back to Griese and Navarre, I remember signature wins - Griese agaisnt Ohio in 96 and 97, the 97 Penn State game, the Rose Bowl. Navarre against Ohio in 03. What is Henne's signature win? Florida in the Capitol One Bowl? Meh. Nice to win but still, it is just the Capital One Bowl.
Navarre was 2-4 against Ohio and Bowls. Henne was 1-7. Collins was 3-1. Griese was 3-1 (I think - did he play in 95 when Dreisbach got hurt?).
|2 years 11 weeks ago||I have a hard time selecting skill guys||
that lost to Ohio 4 straight times. Jake Long, ok. You can be the greatest Left Tackle but it only goes so far.
Navarre had a great senior season in 2003 and had a fabulous performance against #4 Ohio leading M to victory.
It is a tough call, both of them were subpar compared to their predessors of Grbac, Collins, Griese, Brady and Henson.
|2 years 11 weeks ago||I would take Navarre and Chris Perry||
over Henne and Hart.
|2 years 12 weeks ago||Am I reading this correctly?||
The 5th place team in the CCHA playoffs will not have a home series? They will get a bye and then play on the road against the number 4 team. I never considered M not getting a home series.
|2 years 12 weeks ago||I agree as well||
He is our former coach and if something really big happened or maybe a retrospective after his season or next few seasons are over, I could see a post. But signing a few commits. He'll probably sign 20-25. And then are we going to get an AZ update every game? Maybe we should get Steve Fisher updates as well.
And to clarify, I was a RR supporter last year. Let it move on.
|2 years 13 weeks ago||Actually at this rate.||
They could win the CCHA. They have moved from way back to within striking distance if they win today.

It is always good to see a scorecard and what everyone else thinks is important.
Clearly there are a lot of factors to consider. For me, personally, I have most enjoyed the offseason when M has won a BCS bowl. You had to have a great season to get to one and then you have won a neutral site game against top competion. Bowl losses always leave me with a sour taste in the offseason. We have only done this 7 times in the Bo+ era.
Winning the B1G is important, as is beating our 3 main rivals, Ohio, ND and State. Final ranking very important as well.
Obviously 97 is the most awesome as we accomplished all of the above.
After that, it is really how you rank the various factors. I tend to think 80, 85, 88, 92 and 99 as all tied for next. We had some flaws, but won the Rose/Orange and finished Top 5.
This season comes in at the next tier down with a couple flaws and likely a Top 10ish finish.
So for me, this is the 7th best season.

He clearly comes across as a Level 5 leader consistent with Collins book. We are fortunate to have him.
|2 years 17 weeks ago||I doubt it||
Many M alumni, like myself, probably never applied to MSU. It really never seemed like a good option to me.
|2 years 17 weeks ago||Terelle Pryor||
We went 3-9 with the Sheridan/Threet combo. Pryor wins us a couple more games at least (Toledo, maybe Utah, Purdue, Northwestern). Bowl streak maybe stays alive.
Just because he had a lot of issues at Ohio doesnt mean that he would here. It is pretty clear that they had a culture of issues there and young people can be easily swayed when "everyone is doing it". Michigan might have worked out better for him.
|2 years 17 weeks ago||The 1997 team was the best||
In the part of my life that I remember. Hard to top 12-0. Blowout of Colorado, tough defensive stops late in the game against ND, great comeback against Iowa, Woodson's interception at MSU, the domination of Penn St., Woodson's punt runback against Ohio. Finally, I went to the Rose Bowl that year for my first time and watched them cap an undefeated season on a beautiful day.
I would say the 1988 team was a close second. That was my first year as a student at Michigan. Lost two heartbreakers to open the season - Gillette missing a FG against ND in the final seconds and then Michigan squandering a 30-14 lead in the 4th quarter to #1 at the time Miami. ND went on to win the National Title and Miami was second. Michigan didnt lose again although tied Iowa but won the Rose Bowl against USC and finished ranked 4th.
|2 years 18 weeks ago||They are 17th in the pair wise||
Which is an impartial strength rating. So 20th is reasonable.
