the just released schedules were a flat-out statement that the B10 doesn't believe SOS will matter in playoff selection

Even the announcers commented at one point they were having problems reading the numbers during the bowl game.
|4 days 14 hours ago||Just guessing||
but the big ten is going to let the Citrus continue to have first pick of Big Ten teams that don't qualify for the playoff or other big bowls???
|4 days 14 hours ago||Pinstripe Bowl||
NY weather can vary that time of year. Would be interesting to see some of the more southern teams (geographicly) from the ACC play in some nice cold weather.

Youtubes of the punt return last week after the Keith Jackson thread. He doesn't say 'Goodbye Buckeyes'. He's describing the play and then 'Goodbye', decent pause and then 'Hello Heisman'.
|1 week 3 days ago||Beefing up non-conference schedule||
I don't know if it's beefing up the non-conference schedule so much as replacing ND on the non-conference schedule.
|1 week 3 days ago||Yeah||
Assuming Hoke and Meyer keep dominating Big Ten recruiting like they have, that is almost 2 automatic losses for PSU since they'll have to play UM and OSU every year. 7-8 wins a year means they're going 7-3 or 8-3 in the rest of the games.
|1 week 5 days ago||Lacks Physical speed||
Maybe lacks 'game' speed. Wasn't his 40 time at the combine or pro day one of the fastest out of the group of safeties?
|2 weeks 1 day ago||The Big House||
Wasn't Keith Jackson the one who first called Michigan Stadium, 'The Big House'?
|2 weeks 1 day ago||100th UM-OSU game||
Not sure if that link works but it's Keith Jackson doing the intro to the 100th UM-OSU game.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Come on Ace!!!!||
You're going to bring up Keith Jackson, get our hearts and ears all sentimental and NOT at least give us an audio clip of the man. Talk about a tease!!
Just kidding. Good post - I used to love listening to him. Luckily, when he semi-retired and was only doing west coast games I was living on the west coast and got to listen to him for a few more years.
Pretty sure he came out of his 'west coast only' retirement to call the 100th OSU-UM game in 2003.
(Edit - went back and re-read the entire post and saw you tried to find one. The first I didn't make it to the bottom cause I stopped reading when I saw all the Chris Berman faces)

would probably love to join any 'BCS' Conference - Big Ten, ACC, SEC, Big 12 or Pac-12. Those are the two schools that are going to be hit the hardest from the demise of the Big East.

Comedy. Had forgotten about that.
Thank you - I needed a good laugh today.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||With Saban remember||
that he's also coached at MSU and LSU. Neither of which were great programs when he took over at those schools. Also, when Saban took over Alabama the Crimson Tide wasn't that good either. They went 7-5 in his first year.

It's kind of funny to see people worrying about whether Beilein can keep the recruiting going. It's a valid concern, but a fun concern to have.
One thing people seem to have forgotten is that in the fall of 2014 Stauskas, Albrecht, LeVert and Horford will all be juniors or seniors. Unless one or more blow up next year that should hopefully be a pretty solid group of upperclassmen with a good amount of experience returning. Not saying that guarantees a deep tourney run and elite status, but you mix in some solid younger guys and that has the makings of a pretty solid team.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Agree||
It'll be interesting to see how the whole team adapts to life without Burke. I'm hoping in the off-season McGary can continue to develope the 12-15' jumper as well as one or two solid moves moves with his back to the basket in the post. Combine those items with his ability to put the ball on the floor for one or two dribbles and get to the basket and he could be an absoute terror.

While speed is great, it's not like the receivers UM is recruiting are running 4.8's or 4.9's in the 40. 40 yd times to me at least are over rated, especially when you start comparing two guys who runs a 4.43 vs say a 4.55. Rarely if ever is a player going to run 40 yds in a straight line during a game. The few instances might be in a punting/kick off situation or if a ball carrier breaks free and has a straight shot to the endzone.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Ace - question||
How do you calculate how many 3, 4, and 5 star recruits a school has in the composite box up top?
Up top in the composite box with all the schools, it indicates that MSU has no 4 star recruits but then when MSU's recruits are listed individually 4 of their players have a 4th star from at least one service.
With OSU, in the composite box up top they are listed as having five 4 star recruits but then down below all 7 of their recruits have at least one 4th star from one of the servces.

I was going to throw out a comparison to Andy Dalton.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Filling Stadiums||
Good point about the plan for inter division games. If I'm any team in the west other than Nebraska, Wisky and Iowa (teams who sell out or come close to selling their stadiums every home game) I sure as heck want to see OSU or UM coming to town every year because I know that's one game where the stadium will be sold out or darn close. If I'm Illinois, NU, Purdue or Minny the last thing I want to hear is that I'm probably going to be hosting Rutgers, Maryland and Indiana a lot more than OSU or UM.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||MSU @ ND||
might be primetime. That will be on NBC and this only lists the ESPN/ABC games.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Stanford||
probably hasn't come up as a possibility because why would Stanford want to do that? Every road trip in conference play would be end being at least a trek half way across the country.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Is Brandon only going after students?||
or are season ticket holders/suite holders who don't show up to a couple games and/or show up late to games going to have repurcussions as well?
Now 5000 no shows/late arrivers in a group of 25,000 is going to be much more visible than 3000 no shows out of 85,000 but if the goal is to make people attend games and show up on time then whatever Brandon is planning on doing should apply to the season ticket holders as well as the students.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Yeah||
In terms of the overall team rankings quantity of recruits plays a big role. I usually look at average star per player. USC last year is a good example. On rivals their class for 2013 was ranked 13th. However, their average star per player was 4.42. Texas A&M was ranked 11th but their average star per player was only 3.35. A&M brought in 31 recruits while USC only had 12.
Obviously, you want more than 12 recruits but if UM only signs around 20, their class will be ranked pretty high but they probably won't be ranked #1 because there will be schools that have good classes but sign 25-28 kids.

if you watch some other videos of the anthem, the person on the ice singing the anthem stops singing very early into the song.

doesn't necessarily mean there are going to be coaches there/watching. I'm sure the players know drills they can do whether a coach is there or not. It's probably not much different than a bball player going to the gym and working on this free throws, shooting, dribbling by himself or with teammates.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||NBA Second round||
Pretty good comparison. I don't believe there are guaranteed contracts if you're drafted in the second round. If you're a second round draft pick and get cut in camp, you might be sol. It's why underclassmen usually only come out if they are very confident of being a first round pick.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||Exactly||
If McGary could shoot the three, I'm guessing we would have seen some pick and rolls where instead of rolling to the basketball, he rolls to the 3 point line. Kind of like what the Pistons did with Lambeer.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||OSU||
Losing Thomas is big, but I think that's about all they lose. Some of the younger guys started playing a lot better towards the end of the year. I'd guess they'll be right in the thick of the big ten race next year.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||Yeah||
Even Kerr and Kellog commented on Hancock moving and that they thought it should have been a no call.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||Burke block||
I wonder which referee made the foul call. The referee in the video/gif above is in no position to make the call. It looks like he's completely blocked by Siva to be able to tell whether Burke fouled Siva with his body or not.
