|1 day 17 hours ago||Somewhat understandable||
Not sure about Harvard's other sports but football isn't D1. It's 1-AA.
|2 days 9 hours ago||Heck, how about this||
Wichita St's record against Top 50: 2-0. Their SOS is triple digits. Yeah, they're undefeated but I don't see how they deserve a #1 seed. I'm not saying they shouldn't be a high seed, but a #1 seed who has only played 2 Top 50 teams and has a SOS in the triple digits doesn't seem right.

kills time between basketball seasons.
|3 days 16 hours ago||Arizona in 1997||
is the only team to beat three #1 seeds in the ncaa tourney.
|3 days 16 hours ago||Strength of schedule||
At least according to the RPI rankings on espn, Wisky has the 2nd toughest SOS. UM's SOS is ranked 9th. Wisky's wins over Virginia and Florida are looking really nice right now.
|3 days 17 hours ago||No won/loss outcomes||
were decided but it'd be interesting to know how many teams covered by a half point or one point in Vegas.
|5 days 11 hours ago||Lottery pick||
What picks in the first round are considered lottery picks?
|6 days 8 hours ago||For NCAA seeding||
I think winning the last 2 regular season games are big. A lot of the top 10-15 teams in the current AP poll still have tough games remaining this coming week. 15-3 conference record and getting to the conference tourney finals, if not semi's, might get UM a #2 seed depending on what happens with other teams.
|6 days 9 hours ago||Unknown commodity??||
I don't think Indiana St was an unknown commodity heading into the tourney. They were a #1 seed, had a first team all-american who was the 6th pick in the 1978 NBA draft but decided to come back for his last year at ISU.
Now granted the amount of media wasn't nearly as big as it is now, but it's not like ISU was a low seed who made it to the title game.
|1 week 3 hours ago||Yeah||
That's the way I see it. UM's 2 up in the loss column to both Sparty and Wisky.
|1 week 1 day ago||Competition||
Agree. With 2 returning starters, a sophomore who got rave reviews in practice and saw spot time games and Peppers, the cornerback position looks pretty solid.
|1 week 1 day ago||Mattison||
said in his presser that with the experience on the D, they'd like to play more aggressive. I'm assuming part of that experience is Taylor and Countess both being 3rd yr starters heading into the fall.
|1 week 3 days ago||Heck||
Outside of a few guys, I was thinking that the LB's look a little small.
|1 week 3 days ago||True but||
30 years ago just about every position group was smaller on average when it came to their weight and body frame. 300lb olinemen were almost unheard of in the late 70's/early 80's and now they're a dime a dozen.
|1 week 3 days ago||Wisky||
In one paragraph you describe them as a paper tiger but in another paragraph you expect them to make real noise in the tourney????
|1 week 3 days ago||The catch||
with the tourney is you get several days of prep time for one team and then a day and a half for the next.
|1 week 3 days ago||Sustainable success||
I'm curious as to what your definition of 'sustainable success' is?
Michigan has had a pretty successful basketball program dating all the way back to the 60's. Arguably the longest stretch of futility for the program since the 1960's was the Ellerbe/Amaker era. If you include the Fab 5 era, they rank in the Top 10 in most FF appearances and are tied for 6th with the most appearances in the title game.
|1 week 4 days ago||IU's chances||
= very slim. Probably the only reason they have a chance is their remaining schedule - Iowa, OSU, Nebraska, @UM. If they could sweep those 4 games, they'll probably get themselves in the conversation for the NCAA's.
|1 week 4 days ago||OSU||
Agree, but at the same time that's the 12th game in the season so the line will have a lot more experience and hopefully have improved quite a bit. If the OSU game was in September, it'd be a whole different story.
|1 week 4 days ago||Disruptive force in the middle||
If Ryan can't be a disruptive force in the middle during spring practice against that sieve of an oline, the defense is going to have some serious problems.
|1 week 4 days ago||While interesting||
for the race to the Big Ten title, I'm guessing coaches might not be that in favor of it due to how it might affect the NCAA tourney. There's a couple ways it could affect a team in the NCAA:
1) I'm assuming that would be 2 games a week for 3 weeks against the top teams in the league. That's a huge gauntlet for the top teams. The last couple of years we've talked about how hard UM has had it going against 3 or 4 of the top teams in a row with only a couple days rest between games. UM has usually shown the wear and tear of that grind towards the end of the 4 game gauntlet. Would these teams then be asked to turnaround and participate in a Big Ten tourney where they might have to play 3 games in 3 days on top of the 6 game gauntlet? Even if there no was no Big Ten tourney anymore, these teams would only have 3-4 days rest before the NCAA tournament begins.
2) How would the NCAA selection committee look at this with regards to who gets into the tourney and how teams are seeded? Looking at UM before the MSU game they were 10-3 and 18-7 overall and looking like a 3 or 4 seed. If they had to play OSU, Iowa, Wisky, MSU and Nebraska home and home, what happens to their seeding if they were to go 3-5 (doubt it would happen, just hypothetical here) and finish 21-12. I doubt they're a Top 4 seed and could drop to what... a 6 or 7 seed??
Does the Big Ten tell the NCAA that any team in the bottom half pod cannot be considered for the tournament? If you're the 7th place team you're going to have a way harder schedule then the 8th place team. If the 7th and 8th place teams are relatively close in conference and overall records (like the 6th and 7th place teams this year were after 13 games, Neb and Minny), the chances are that the 8th place team is going to have a better and possibly way better record after pod play then the team that was 7th after 13 games.
|1 week 4 days ago||In addition||
I thought a lot of people felt Bellomy performed as well, if not maybe better, then Gardner in the 2012 spring game (at work and not taking the time to find examples).
Also, Gardner didn't exactly set the world on fire at the beginning of the Minnesota game. It took him a while to settle down and get comfortable. I realize he hadn't practiced at QB much up until that week, but even if they had left him as the #2 QB, I'm not sure he comes into the Nebraska game looking polished and comfortable. Maybe his running ability gives him an advantage over Bellomy. Hindsight is always 20/20.
|1 week 4 days ago||Juco's||
The company line that I always read about why UM doesn't pursue many juco's is that it's tough for them to get into UM (credits transferring??). Doesn't mean they shouldn't try if there's a need though.
|1 week 4 days ago||I think||
part of the problem, which Brian mentions, is that UM didn't have in 2013 and might not have in 2014, the interior dlineman needed to eat the blocks and get the LB's clean.
|1 week 4 days ago||Bo Jackson||
Coulda put Bo Jackson's TD run where he continued into the tunnel up there too.
|1 week 5 days ago||While true||
Izzo and his injury depleted Spartans might disagree with you.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Bingo||
Most of these administrators won't be in these same positions or even at UM in 15, 20, 30 years, but if their goal is to ensure the long term future of UM athletics they need to do something soon. When your students aren't interested and/or feel as though there is an 'us against them' mentality with the Athletic Department, thd odds of those students being long term customers probably isn't very good.
At the same time when you have alumni and long time fans growing tired and frustrated with their experience at Ann Arbor on Saturdays in the fall, it's almost a double whammy. You have unhappy customers and customers who might not be taking or reducing the amount of time they take their kids to Ann Arbor on Saturdays. My dad and I went to lots of games together in the 80's and that's how I really developed my love for UM football.

Have they announced wha the format of the tourney will be? Top 2 teams get byes?

If the first priority can be fixed, it should hopefully go a long way in getting the second priority accomplished.
